  I'm getting an odd error from my composite canvas component: An ActionScript error has occurred: Error: null at mx.core::Container/initialize()[C:\autobuild\galaga\frameworks\projects\framework\src\mx\core\Container.as:2560] at -REMOVED THIS FOR STACK OVERFLOW-.view::EditableCanvas/initialize()[.../view/EditableCanvas .... It seems to be related to the fact that my composite component has a child and I'm trying to add one in the place I'm using the component. So how can I do this correctly? • iPhone question: How can I add a button to a tableview cell?

  Hi guys, Little background, the table view is filled by a fetchedResultsController which fills the table view with Strings. Now I'm trying to add a button next to each String in each tableview cell. So far, I've been trying to create a button in my configureCell:atIndexPath method and then add that button as a subview to the table cell's content view, but for some reason the buttons do not show up. Below is the relevant code. If anyone wants more code posted, just ask and I'll put up whatever you want. • onSubmit returning false is not working

  I'm completely confused ... I'd swear this was working yesterday ... I woke up this morning and all my forms stopped to work in my project. All the forms have a "onsubmit" to a function that returns false since it's an ajax call, so the form is never sent. • Streamlining my javascript with a function

  I'm working on an internationalized database application that supports multiple locales in a single instance. When international users sort data in the applications built on top of the database, the database theoretically sorts the data using a collation appropriate to the locale associated with the data the user is viewing. I'm trying to find sorted lists of words that meet two criteria: the sorted order follows the collation rules for the locale the words listed will allow me to exercise most / all of the specific collation rules for the locale I'm having trouble finding such trusted test data. Are such sort-testing datasets currently available, and if so, what / where are they? "words.en.txt" is an example text file containing American English text: Andrew Brian Chris Zachary I am planning on loading the list of words into my database in randomized order, and checking to see if sorting the list conforms to the original input. Because I am not fluent in any language other than English, I do not know how to create sample datasets like the following sample one in French (call it "words.fr.txt"): cote côte coté côté The French prefer diacritical marks to be ordered right to left. • Submit button not focused even though tabindex is properly set

When tabbing through the input fields the submit button is never getting the focus, some other input fields in a different form on the page gets the focus. Those are all having tabindexes higher than 3. • CSS Multiple multi-column divs

  I have a bunch of items (text, image, mixed content, etc) that I want to display. The user can define what row and what column that item appears in. For example, in row 1, there could be two items/columns, both images. In row two, there could be three items / columns, one with an image, two others as pure text. Oh, and the user may specify the width of any particular column/image/item. I have a solution that uses multiple tables that works. In essence, each row is a new table. This works for the most part. I'm wondering if I can use just divs? Now my CSS foo is lacking, and I tried to copy examples from the web, and I haven't been able to get it working. Right now I have something like this: `[for each row] [for each column] [content] ` But everything is overlapping each other. I've also tried using "position: relative", but things look even more borked. So can divs actually be used for multiple rows and different number of columns?

• ASP.NET AsyncPostBackTrigger disables button's OnClick function???

  I saw another post like this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1795621/asyncpostbacktrigger-disables-buttons But I don't really know what to make of it. The accepted answer was poorly typed. Basically, I have a button with an OnClick function. I also have a UpdatePanel, with is AsyncPostBackTrigger set to that same button. It seems that if I do this, my Button no longer does ANYTHING. I guess it's because I have a Page_Load() event... Can anyone explain why this is? And how should I set up my webpage if I can't use the Page_Load() function? Oh and if I put my Button in a UpdatePanel, it also won't do anything, probably because of the same reason. • Andriod Spinner not displaying list items.

  I think I am going crazy right now. I am trying to create a spinner populated by a datatable but for some reason the dropdown list items text is not being displayed. I have looked all over and have seen other posts with people having this same problem. If I select any of them I am getting the correct selected item value but there is just no data displayed.

  I am attempting to find tags(keywords) for a recipe by parsing a long string of text. The text contains the recipe ingredients, directions and a short blurb. What do you think would be the most efficient way to remove common words from the tag list? By common words, I mean words like: 'the', 'at', 'there', 'their' etc. I have 2 methodologies I can use, which do you think is more efficient in terms of speed and do you know of a more efficient way I could do this? Methodology 1: - Determine the number of times each word occurs(using the library Collections) - Have a list of common words and remove all 'Common Words' from the Collection object by attempting to delete that key from the Collection object if it exists. - Therefore the speed will be determined by the length of the variable delims import collections from Counter delim = ['there','there\'s','theres','they','they\'re'] # the above will end up being a really long list! word_freq = Counter(recipe_str.lower().split()) for delim in set(delims): del word_freq[delim] return freq.most_common() Methodology 2: - For common words that can be plural, look at each word in the recipe string, and check if it partially contains the non-plural version of a common word. • .NET Splash screen issues

  I have a splash screen for my C# database application that is called via the Shown event. The splash screen contains some information that is preprocessed when the main form's constructor is called, hence why I'm using the Shown event, because that information should be available. However, when the splash screen is shown, the main form is whited out, and the menu bar, bottom menu bar, and even the gray background are all white and invisible. It looks like the program is hanging, but after the 5 second delay I have built in, the banner goes away and the program is shown normally. Also, on the banner, I have labels that are not shown when the splash screen displays... Here is my code, some reasoning behind why it isn't working would help greatly. SPLASH SCREEN CODE : public partial class StartupBanner : Form { public StartupBanner(int missingNum, int expiredNum) { InitializeComponent(); missingLabel.Text = missingNum.ToString() + " MISSING POLICIES"; expiredLabel.Text = expiredNum.ToString() + " EXPIRED POLICIES"; } } CALLING CODE : private void MainForm_Shown(object sender, EventArgs e) { StartupBanner startup = new StartupBanner(missingPoliciesNum, expiredPoliciesNum); startup.MdiParent = this; startup.Show(); Thread.Sleep(5000); startup.Close(); } Using startup.ShowDialog() shows the correct label information on the splash screen, but that locks up the application, and I need the splash to go away after about 5 seconds, which is why it's a splash. ;)

• Jquery problem - cant expand the row above in a table

  Hi People, What I cant figure out is how I would toggle a row in a table using the one below it. So say I have a table with 2 rows the first contains content and the one below contains a button, when the page loads the content row is hidden and when you click the button it toggles the content row on and off.   I often hear complaints that programming languages that make heavy use of symbols for brevity, most notably C and C++ (I'm not going to touch APL), are difficult to type because they require frequent use of the shift key. A year or two ago, I got tired of it myself, downloaded Microsoft's Keyboard Layout Creator, made a few changes to my layout, and have not once looked back. The speed difference is astounding; with these few simple changes I am able to type C++ code around 30% faster, depending of course on how hairy it is; best of all, my typing speed in ordinary running text is not compromised. My questions are these: what alternate keyboard layouts have existed for programming, which have gained popularity, are any of them still in modern use, do you personally use any altered layout, and how can my layout be further optimised? I made the following changes to a standard QWERTY layout. (I don't use Dvorak, but there is a programmer Dvorak layout worth mentioning.) Swap numbers with symbols in the top row, because long or repeated literal numbers are typically replaced with named constants; Swap backquote with tilde, because backquotes are rare in many languages but destructors are common in C++; Swap minus with underscore, because underscores are common in identifiers; Swap curly braces with square brackets, because blocks are more common than subscripts; and Swap double quote with single quote, because strings are more common than character literals. I suspect this last is probably going to be the most controversial, as it interferes the most with running text by requiring use of shift to type common contractions. This layout has significantly increased my typing speed in C++, C, Java, and Perl, and somewhat increased it in LISP and Python.

• Bind a generic list to a listbox and also use a datatemplate

  Hello, I'm trying to implement something quite simple but I'm on my first steps in WPF and I'm having some problems. I have a class called Component which has a property called Vertices. Vertices is a generic List of type Point. What I want is to bind the vertices property to a listbox. This is easy by using this code in my XAML in the listbox declaration: ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Component.Vertices, Mode=OneWay, Converter={StaticResource verticesconverter},UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" The tricky part is when I try to create a datatemplate for the listbox. I want each row of the listbox to display a textbox with the values of the Vertex (Point.X, Point.Y) and a button to allow me to delete the item. Could you help me on the datatemplate definition. The code below doesn't work to bind the X,Y values into two separate textboxes. • Improving Performance on this Image Creation function

  Hello all, I am making use of GD2 and the image functions to take in a string and then convert that into an image using different fonts at different sizes. The function I use is below. Currently, its pretty quick but not quick enough. The function gets called about 20 times per user and the images generated are always new ones (different) so caching isn't going to help! I was hoping to get some ideas on how to make this function faster. Maybe supply more RAM to the script running? Anything else that is specific to this PHP function? • JavaScript alert not working in Android WebView

  In my application I am using WebView and in that I am using JavaScript alert( ) method but its not working, no pop-up appears. in my manifest file I have added <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses-permission> and in activity file I have added mWebView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); mWebView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); mWebView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/demo.html"); In layout xml file I have added <WebView android:id="@+id/webview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> Any clue how to enable full JavaScript in WebView. Update Thanks mark the alert() method in the html file are working now :) . Now there are two issues in WebView : 1: I am using a in the html file that i am loading in WebView , and trying to write in Hindi language font in it, but when i try to write Hindi text it displays as symbols ( rectangle symbols like [] ) . when i do the same in firefox browser on desktop it works fine. any clue how to give support for multiple language in textarea in WebView ? 2: When I am clicking submit and trying to open the value of text in alert() method in another java script it doesn't work , does it mean even after using WebChromeClient its applicable only for current loaded html page and not java scripts called from that page ?

• Telerik window automatically opens after every page refresh

  I am using Telerik RadControls in my project and and have a menu where I have an 'About' button. When I click the 'About' button a window pops up describing the application. The problem is if I refresh the page or navigate to another page then back to the first page the window automatically pops up.
