  • how to change display text in django admin foreignkey dropdown

    - by FurtiveFelon
    Hi all, I have a task list, with ability to assign users. So i have foreignkey to User model in the database. However, the default display is username in the dropdown menu, i would like to display full name (first last) instead of the username. If the foreignkey is pointing to one of my own classes, i can just change the str function in the model, but User is a django authentication model, so i can't easily change it directly right? Anyone have any idea how to accomplish this? Thanks a lot!

  • Count the number of lines in a Java String

    - by Simon Guo
    Need some compact code for counting the number of lines in a string in Java. The string is to be separated by \r or \n. Each instance of those newline characters will be considered as a separate line. For example, "Hello\nWorld\nThis\nIs\t" should return 4. The prototype is private static int countLines(String str) {...} Can someone provide a compact set of statements? I have solution at here but it is too long, I think. Thank you.

  • copying program arguments to a whitespace separated std::string

    - by PaulH
    I have a Visual Studio 2008 C++ application where I would like to copy all of program arguments in to a string separated by a whitespace " ". i.e., if my program is called as foo.exe \Program Files, then my folder string below would contain \Program Files Below is an example of what I'm doing now. I was wondering if there was a shorter or easier method of doing this. Is there an easy way to eliminate the std::wstringstream variable? int _tmain( int argc, _TCHAR* argv[] ) { std::wstringstream f; std::copy( argv + 1, argv + argc, std::ostream_iterator< std::wstring, wchar_t >( f, L" " ) ); std::wstring folder = f.str(); // ensure the folder begins with a backslash if( folder[ 0 ] != L'\\' ) folder.insert( 0, 1, L'\\' ); // remove the trailing " " character from the end added by the std::copy() above if( *folder.rbegin() == L' ') folder.erase( folder.size() - 1 ); // ... } Thanks, PaulH

  • more ruby way of gsub from array

    - by aharon
    My goal is to let there be x so that x("? world. what ? you say...", ['hello', 'do']) returns "hello world. what do you say...". I have something that works, but seems far from the "Ruby way": def x(str, arr, rep='?') i = 0 query.gsub(rep) { i+=1; arr[i-1] } end Is there a more idiomatic way of doing this? (Let me note that speed is the most important factor, of course.)

  • How safe is JSONP implementation for login functionality

    - by MKS
    Hi Guys, I am using JSONP for login authentication, below is sample JQuery Code: $.ajax({ type:"GET", url: "https://staging/login/Login.aspx", // Send the login info to this page data: str, dataType: "jsonp", timeout: 200000, jsonp:"skywardDetails", success: function(result) { //Do something after the success } }); In above code, I am having HTTPS page for authentication, from my login dailog box, I am sending username and password to my login.aspx page, which calls "WEB SERVICE" taking input send by the login dialog page and return the users details as JSONP object. My question is that, how safe is above implementation and do also suggest how can I improve my security implementation. Thanks!

  • Search for a String and replace it with a variable

    - by chrissygormley
    Hello, I am trying to use regular expression to search a document fo a UUID number and replace the end of it with a new number. The code I have so far is: read_file = open('test.txt', 'r+') write_file = open('test.txt', 'w') r = re.compile(r'(self.uid\s*=\s*5EFF837F-EFC2-4c32-A3D4\s*)(\S+)') for l in read_file: m1 = r.match(l) if m1: new=(str,m1.group(2)) new?????? This where I get stuck. The file test.txt has the below UUID stored in it: self.uid = '5EFF837F-EFC2-4c32-A3D4-D15C7F9E1F22' I want to replace the part D15C7F9E1F22. I have also tried this: r = re.compile(r'(self.uid\s*=\s*)(\S+)') for l in fp: m1 = r.match(l) new=map(int,m1.group(2).split("-") new[4]='RHUI5345JO' But I cannot seem to match the string. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • How to save bytes to an image and access it from Bottle

    - by Graham Smith
    I'm working on an API wrapper for Snapchat using Python and Bottle, but in order to return the file (retrieved by the Python script) I have to save the bytes (returned by Snapchat) to a .jpg file. I'm not quite sure how I will do this and still be able to access the file so that it can be returned. Here's what I have so far, but it returns a 404. @route('/image') def image(): username = request.query.username token = request.query.auth_token img_id = request.query.id return get_blob(username, token, img_id) def get_blob(usr, token, img_id): # Form URL and download encrypted "blob" blob_url = "https://feelinsonice.appspot.com/ph/blob?id={}".format(img_id) blob_url += "&username=" + usr + "&timestamp=" + str(timestamp()) + "&req_token=" + req_token(token) enc_blob = requests.get(blob_url).content # Save decrypted image FileUpload.save('/images/' + img_id + '.jpg') img = open('images/' + img_id + '.jpg', 'wb') img.write(decrypt(enc_blob)) img.close() return static_file(img_id + '.jpg', root='/images/')

  • Using ModalAlert from cookbook - app does not load

    - by user127091
    I'm using iphone cookbook code to prompt a user for text in a UIAlertView. The cookbook code is available at http://github.com/erica/iphone-3.0-cookbook-/tree/master/C10-Alerts/03-Soliciting%20Text/ In my AppDelegate, applicationDidFinishLaunching(), I invoke as below NSString *str = [ModalAlert ask:@"what is your name?" withTextPrompt:@"ATTUID"]; But my app does not finish loading at all. I get a black screen indefinitely. There are no messages in the console. I tried creating just a UIAlertView with UITextField in the above function and it displays properly. (commenting out her code) Commenting out "CFRunLoopRun()" also loads the app. I'm probably doing something stupid but can't seem to figure it out.

  • MYSQL: How do I set a date (makedate?) with month, day, and year

    - by chongman
    Hi? I have three columns, y, m, and d (year, month, and day) and want to store this as a date. What function would I use on mySQL to do this? Apparently makedate uses year and day of year (see below), but I have month. I know I can use STR_TO_DATE(str,format), by constructing the string from (y,m,d), but I would guess there is an easier way to do it. REFERENCES MAKEDATE(year,dayofyear) Returns a date, given year and day-of-year values. dayofyear must be greater than 0 or the result is NULL.

  • What is the most useful R trick?

    - by Dirk Eddelbuettel
    In order to share some more tips and tricks for R, what is you single-most useful feature or trick? Clever vectorization? Data input/output? Visualization and graphics? Statistical analysis? Special functions? The interactive environment itself? One item per post, and we will see if we get a winner by means of votes. [Edit 25-Aug 2008]: So after one week, it seems that the simple str() won the poll. As I like to recommend that one myself, it is an easy answer to accept.

Thanks in advance.

  • Why am I getting "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute" when not modifying

    - by ccornet
    I have two collections of strings: CollectionA is a StringCollection property of an object stored in the system, while CollectionB is a List generated at runtime. CollectionA needs to be updated to match CollectionB if there are any differences. So I devised what I expected to be a simple LINQ method to perform the removal. var strDifferences = CollectionA.Where(foo => !CollectionB.Contains(foo)); foreach (var strVar in strDifferences) { CollectionA.Remove(strVar); } But I am getting a "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute" error on strDifferences... even though it is a separate enumerable from the collection being modified! I originally devised this explicitly to evade this error, as my first implementation would produce it (as I was enumerating across CollectionA and just removing when !CollectionB.Contains(str)). Can anyone shed some insight into why this enumeration is failing?

  • PostgreSQL pgdb driver raises "can't rollback" exception

What is fundamentally wrong here?

  • PyParsing: Is this correct use of setParseAction()?

    - by Rosarch
    I have strings like this: "MSE 2110, 3030, 4102" I would like to output: [("MSE", 2110), ("MSE", 3030), ("MSE", 4102)] This is my way of going about it, although I haven't quite gotten it yet: def makeCourseList(str, location, tokens): print "before: %s" % tokens for index, course_number in enumerate(tokens[1:]): tokens[index + 1] = (tokens[0][0], course_number) print "after: %s" % tokens course = Group(DEPT_CODE + COURSE_NUMBER) # .setResultsName("Course") course_data = (course + ZeroOrMore(Suppress(',') + COURSE_NUMBER)).setParseAction(makeCourseList) This outputs: >>> course.parseString("CS 2110") ([(['CS', 2110], {})], {}) >>> course_data.parseString("CS 2110, 4301, 2123, 1110") before: [['CS', 2110], 4301, 2123, 1110] after: [['CS', 2110], ('CS', 4301), ('CS', 2123), ('CS', 1110)] ([(['CS', 2110], {}), ('CS', 4301), ('CS', 2123), ('CS', 1110)], {}) Is this the right way to do it, or am I totally off? Also, the output of isn't quite correct - I want course_data to emit a list of course symbols that are in the same format as each other. Right now, the first course is different from the others. (It has a {}, whereas the others don't.)

  • How to access a structure member in a function that get it as void* type?

    - by Ahmad
    I want to have a function that accepts different type of structures as argument. So, since I don't have a specific type, I have to use void*. Now question is: when I pass a structure to this function, how can I access a known member of this structure inside the function? Specifically, I know that all structures have str1 as a member and I want, for example, print it. Here is a sample code: struct { char* str1; float tt1; } var1 = {"This is me", 12}; struct { char* str1; int tt2; } var2 = {"This is you", 18}; void printStruct(void* str) { printf("\n the structure string is %s", ??); //can I put something in ?? to print the string? } main(....) { printStruct(&var1); printStruct(&var2); }

  • django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

    - by Agrajag
    I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids. The function looks like this: def hello_jabber(request, text): jid=xmpp.protocol.JID(settings.JABBER_ID) cl=xmpp.Client(jid.getDomain(),debug=[]) con=cl.connect() auth=cl.auth(jid.getNode(),settings.JABBER_PW,resource=jid.getResource()) for friend in settings.JABBER_FRIENDS: id=cl.send(xmpp.protocol.Message(friend,friend + ' is awesome:' + text)) print 'sent message with id ' + str(id) cl.disconnect() return render_to_response('jabber/sent.htm', locals())

I have also tried to use gql = "select * from QuantityType where __key__=='" + KeyFactory.stringToKey(qTypeKey)+"'"; but it's now working.. • Can you change/redirect a django form's function by passing in your own function?

    - by Derek
    I'm dealing with django-paypal and want to change the button src images. So I went the the conf.py file in the source and edited the src destination. However, I really want to leave the source alone, and I noticed that the class PayPalPaymentsForm(forms.Form): has def get_image(self): return { (True, self.SUBSCRIBE): SUBSCRIPTION_SANDBOX_IMAGE, (True, self.BUY): SANDBOX_IMAGE, (True, self.DONATE): DONATION_SANDBOX_IMAGE, (False, self.SUBSCRIBE): SUBSCRIPTION_IMAGE, (False, self.BUY): IMAGE, (False, self.DONATE): DONATION_IMAGE, }[TEST, self.button_type] which handles all the image src destinations. Since changing this def in the source is worse than changing conf, I was wondering if there was a way to pass in customized defs you make like passing in initial arguments in forms? This way no source code is changed, and I can customize the get_image def as much as I need. passing in def something like this? def get_image(self): .... .... paypal = { 'amount': 10, 'item_name': 'test1', 'item_number': 'test1_slug', # PayPal wants a unique invoice ID 'invoice': str(uuid.uuid4()), } form = PayPalPaymentsForm(initial=paypal, get_image) Thanks!

  • Interning strings in Java

    - by Tiny
    The following segment of code interns a string. String str1="my"; String str2="string"; String concat1=str1+str2; concat1.intern(); System.out.println(concat1=="mystring"); The expression concat1=="mystring" returns true because concat1 has been interned. If the given string mystring is changed to string as shown in the following snippet. String str11="str"; String str12="ing"; String concat11=str11+str12; concat11.intern(); System.out.println(concat11=="string"); The comparison expression concat11=="string" returns false. The string held by concat11 doesn't seem to be interned. What am I overlooking here? I have tested on Java 7, update 11.

  • test cases for testing a strtok-alike function [C++]

    Consider the following class definition: class StrToTokens { StrToTokens(const char* str, const char* delimiters = "\t\r\n"); //constructor string getNextToken(); void reset(); bool empty(); } Can someone list some good testcases to test the above class. A few I could think of are: empty string, empty delimiters, repeated delimiters, consecutive delimiters, string with only delimiters. However, the interviewer expected some more(better ones). Can you help out. Thanks.
