    Suppose I have an ambiguous language expressed in combinator parser. Is there a way to make certain expressions locally greedy?     Any way I can get this working? I have a block of code: <p><a href="http://foo.com"><span class="title">Title</span><br /><br /> Some text no greater than a couple of lines...</a></p> My styles are: p {color:#FFF;} a {color:#999;} .title {color:#FFF; font-weight:bold;} a:hover {color:#FF0;} My problem is as follows: I want the title to be white and bold and the body to be gray, but when you hover over any part, I want the title AND text to become yellow. However, in the above scenario, only the text becomes yellow because the span color (white) overrides the a:hover. If I add: .title:hover {color:#FF0;} then the title color only changes if I specifically hover over the title. It also doesn't change the text to yellow, as it is now a span hover... Any way I can resolve this, even if it requires a little JS? Thanks!

    I have a div element containing some text. When the user clicks a word inside that div I'd like to highlight just that word. In order to do this I need to know what character position in the text the click occurred at, so I can then locate nearby whitespace and insert some formatting around the word. Finding out where the click occurred within the text is the trick here. Is that kind of thing possible?

  • Get to know what HTML-button is clicked with PHP, no Name of value available

    I have a wizard with 4 steps and in one of the steps, you can add items. By default, there are 3 time 5 empty input-fields listed. When you click a button, there have to be added some more. The 3 times 5 fields are added by a loop. How can I determine where I have to add some fields (in the first 5 field of the second or the third). I can't use another name for every button, because sometimes there can be more then 3 groups of 5 fields. In my code (PHP), I use the name of the button to know what happened in the form, so the name can't be different for the button in every group ... Further, the whole step is 1 form, so the post can't go to another script ... The value of the button has to be the same for every group. I've been thinking on possible solutions and these came up: On click a javascript adds a value to the post (in a hidden field?) But is this posted with the form? Could it be possible to get the ID of the clicked button? This might be different :-) I need a refresh after the click, so pure javascript isn't a solution either ... It is a very specific question, but I hope someone can give me some direction.   • jQuery append value to html input depending on other input

    Ok, the title is a bit confusing, but here's my predicament. I've made a web app to track UPS packages internally at work. Currently, you input the tracking number and then select the city it was shipped from. All tracking numbers from an account start with the same X amount of numbers. So if someone entered "1Z8473..." into one input, "Houston, TX" would automatically be entered into the next input. Is this a difficult thing to pull off? Where would I begin?

    I just made this demo extracting out what I'm trying to accomplish: Autosize Main Content Area I want the pink/yellow area to act according to these rules: Minimum height is the size of its content (which is variable) IF content size is smaller than viewport size Otherwise minimum height is such that it adjusts to fill the window. Checking out the source to that demo, what am I missing? I feel like this is a pretty easy case that shouldn't require javascript. Any ideas?

  • Printing HTML blocks

    I have a page with a few tables that I want to be printable. I want the following behaviour: 1) Add a page break if the next table fits in a single page, but won't fit in the current page (because of other stuff already printed on this page) 2) Print the "table header" again in case it's needed to break a table (I guess it's the default behaviour) Any ideas specially on the first issue? Maybe some CSS can help? I'll give on example. I have a page with 4 tables. All of them with 10 lines, except the third one, with 50 lines. The first and second goes on the first page. Since the third one won't fit in the same page, but will fit in a page alone, it's printed on a page alone... and then the forth table is printed on the third page (in case it doesn't fit together in the second page). But, if the third page had 300 lines and would be broke anyway, it could have started to be print in the first page.

  • HTML - Word Doc Images

    Okay I have roughly 150 + pages of procedures all written in MS word. The person who wrote the procedures did an excellent job of recording the process how to perform specific tasks. This individual went though and created screen shots a MS word doc. There are approx 2 screen shots per page. So it is roughly 300 images and I do not want to recreate the wheel. Does anyone know a quick way of handling the images? The written portion is pretty straightforward but the images is what I am struggling with. Regards, Mike

But if I press the login button the page just reloads itself, nothing happens. The codebehind on this page is empty.   • http/html/ajax: show result before site is completely processed

    hi! I am looking for a way to show in a webapp in front of a task a wait-message and after it hide the message. The task is running a longer time. I dont know if it is possible at all. The problem is, so far I can see, that the site will be returned to the users browser AFTER the task is completed because the task is part of the site as a inline code replaces by the webserver interpreter (no matter if php, perl or whatever). The only solution I can imagine is to parallel the task with threads or processes and requery the state with ajax in the website. Any idea to do it less complex? Thanks for help! regards chris

  • weird characters in HTML email

    Hi stackers! I'm reading email from a maildir and some emails have weird sets of characters in them: =3D =09 I think =3D is = and =09 is a space. There are some others, but I'm not sure: =E2 =80 =93 Does anyone know what these are and what encoding issues I'm dealing with here? BTW, I tried fetching these email via POP3 and it's the same thing. The reason I'm posting this on SO is not because I'm using a regular mail client to read the data. I'm reading via PHP out of maildir files. Perhaps a regular email client would detect what encoding this is and deal with it. Thanks!
