  Before using LWJGL, I used the Graphic method, and there I displayed imageicons, and I had the picture file located in the resources. I used: ImageIcon tcard = new ImageIcon(this.getClass().getResource("RCA.png")); to load the image. Now when I load textures in LWJGL, I have to use absolute paths to locate the file: tcard = TextureLoader.getTexture("PNG", ResourceLoader.getResourceAsStream("C:/RCA.png")); I tried Googling, but I didn't find anything helpful. How can I load the image from the local resources like in the first example?

  So I did some research and a found Box2d. I then proceeded to download it and the testbed. Now that i have it, I don't know how to properly use it. I'm looking for a clear simple answer on how to use the engine. The things I did was that I put it into a lib folder and referenced the JBox2D jar file. After that i got stuck. How can i use this to program games for android? I'm very confused since Box2d was intended for C++.

  currently, I am working on a 2d rpg game which is similar to final fantasy 1-4. I can load up a tiled map and the sprite can walk freely on the map. However, I will like to create a wall for it to stop walking through it. I created three tiled layer Background, Collision, Overhead and one Collision object layer with rectangles only. "How do I handle collisions with the object layer in the tiled map?"   What is the best way performance wise to do this? When I click a tile I want it to get the distance and if I am close enough I can interact with the tile. One way would be to find the tile by doing mouse / tile width when I click correct? But then how would I get that tiles position? I know how to find the distance I just don't know how to get a certain tiles position from the array when I click it

  I have a multi WAR web application that was designed badly. There is a single WAR that is responsible for handling some authorization against a database and defines a standard web page using a jsp taglib. The main WAR basically checks the privileges of the user and than based on that, displays links to the context path of the other deployed WARS. Each of the other deployed WARs includes this custom tag lib. I am working on redesigning this application, and one of the nice things that I want to retain is that we have other project teams that have developed these WAR modules that "plug into" our current system to take advantage of other things we have to offer. I am not entirely sure how to handle the page templates though. I need a templating system that would be easy enough to use across multiple wars (I was thinking of jsp fragments??). I really only need to define a consistent header and main navigation section. Whatever else is displayed on the page is up to the individual web project. Any suggestions? I hope that this is clear, if not I can elaborate more.

  Hi I am trying to implement the java logging in my application. I want to use two handlers. A file handler and my own console handler. Both of my handlers work fine. My logging is send to a file and to the console . My logging is also sent to the default console handler, which i do not want. If you run my code you will see extra two line sent to the console. I don't want to use de default console handler. Does anyone know how to disable the default console handler. I only want to use the two hadlers i have created. • Linux configurations that would affect Java memory usage?

  Hi, Background: I have a set of java background workers I start as part of my webapp. I develop locally on Ubuntu 10.10 and deploy to an Ubuntu 10.04LTS server (a media temple (ve) instance). They're both running the same JVM: Sun JVM 1.6.0_22-b04. As part of the initialization script each worker is started with explicit Xmx, Xms, and XX:MaxPermGen settings. Yet somehow locally all 10 workers use 250MB, while on the server they use more than 2.7GB. I don't know how to begin to track this down. I thought the Ubuntu (and thus, kernel) version might make a difference, but I tried an old 10.04 VM and it behaves as expected. I've noticed that the machine does not seem to ever use memory for buffer or cache (according to htop), which seems a bit strange, but perhaps normal for a server?   Hi, I am about to develop a crawler in Java but don't feel like reinventing the wheel. A quick Google search gives a whole bunch of Java libraries to build a web crawler. Besides that Nutch is of course a very robust package but seems a bit too advanced for my needs. I only need to crawl a handful websites a week containing a couple of 1000 pages each. Which open source Java library would you recommend considering: speed multithreading (or even distributed) extending it with new functionality active maintained and documentation?

  How can I implement a vtable COM interface in java? In the old days, I'd use the Microsft JVM, which had built in java-COM interop. What's the equivalent for a modern JRE? Answers to a similar SO question proposed JACOB. I've looked at JACOB, but that is based on IDispatch, and is aimed at controlling Automation serers. The COM interfaces I need are custom vtable (extend IUnknown), e.g. IPersistStream, IOleWindow, IContextMenu etc. For my use case, I could implement all the COM specifics in JNI, and have the JNI layer call corresponding interfaces in java. But I'm hoping for a less painful solution. It's for an open source project, so open source alternatives are preferred.

  Hi All, I am working on a soucre code which was developed using java 1.4 but now we want to migrate it to java 6. I was able to compile it but there are tons of warnings related to use of java generics wherever we have made use of collections framework. It is possible to remove them by manually make changes to them, but I wanna know if is there any tool which can run on the source code and remove all the warnings by making necessary changes ot the code.   I am doing a java project and I got this problem and don't know how to fix it.
