As soon as I try to redirect the page in the preRenderView method of the bean (just uncomment the code in the method), using handleNavigation() the bean is created again in the next view instead of using the allready created instance. how do I use html block snippets with dynamic content inside a django template that extends another

Hi. Can someone please help me figure out a way to achieve the following (see snippets below) in Django templates? I know that you cannot use more than one extends, but I am new to django and I do not know the proper syntax for something like this. I want to be able to do this so that I can use my nested div layout for css reasons without having to type it like that each time and risking a typo. HTML5 Doctype Support

Hey Everyone, For a long time I have been using XHTML1.1 because I thought I was cool (yeah right). However, today I read Ian Hickson's Article about how everyone uses the wrong MIME type with XHTML and it opened my eyes a lot. I happen to be one of those people who are serving XHTML with text/html MIME, because like a lot of people, W3C says its "ok" to serve it this way. At the top of that article he says that "now" he would serve it using the HTML5 doctype (!DOCTYPE HTML). What are your thoughts about doing this? If I did not use unsupported functionality, would it be ok? What would the MIME type be in this case? Thanks for any help, Metropolis

Regex help -- cleaning up whitespace -- Java

I'm trying to view the text of HTML files in a reasonable way. After I remove all of the markup and retain only the visible text, I obtain a String that looks something like this: \n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n \n Title here \n\n\n \n\n \n\n Menu Item 1 \n\n \n\n Menu Item 2 \n\n\n \n\n you get the point. I would like to use String.replaceAll(String regex, String regex) to replace any whitespace substring that contains more than two occurances of \n with "\n\n". Any ideas?

Should the HTML5 database be used to store any form of private information? Say we have the following scenario; You're browsing a web-mail client, that uses the web database to store mail drafts after you've written some information you close the web browser. What's to stop me from getting access to this information? If the webpage tries to clean out old information when opened a user-script could easily prevent the website from fully loading and then search through the database. Furthermore the names of databases and tables are easily available through the web-mail client's source. W3C Draft

Creating a skin engine in MVC

Does anyone have any experience creating a skin engine for asp.net MVC? I know the suggested approach is to use flexible markup with CSS, but I would like the ability for a new view to be dropped in, and the application use that one instead of the default one. Basically, I want to know how to tell the framework (at run time) to look into a specific folder for the views/content, and if the item isn't there to check the default locations. I started to look into how the Oxite blog engine does it, but it seems like that might be a bit much for what I need (I am still looking through it, so I could be wrong.) Any help is appreciated.

PHP Round function

Is it possible to round a number where if it's 5 , just leave it , anything below 5 round down , anything above 5 round up? EX: 5 * 1.35 = 6.75 .... leave it 5.2 * 1.35 = 7.02 .... 7.00 5.5 * 1.35 = 7.56 .... 8.00 I've formatted with round($n,0, PHP_ROUND_HALF_UP) where $n is the product from the above calc , which leaves 6.75 but returns 7.02 for the next one. I also tried round($n,-1, PHP_ROUND_HALF_UP) which gives me the 7.00 on the second calc but then of course won't return a 6.75 for the first, instead it returns 680. This is a ticket markup calculation where the user enters the first number and is multiplied by the second. I actually remove the decimal because they don't want to see it, and they want this sort of customized rounding on the result. Thanks, Steve

fieldset form with Table-like layout with CSS?

I have an application in which I'm currently using a two column table in order to get accurate cell alignment of the left column labels/descriptions with the right column form fields. I'd like to convert it to css and use jQuery to expand/collapse specific sections. I've seen some jQuery libraries, the menu.js in particular. And they appear to all use list items for the markup. I'm OK with converting my table to UL/LI structure if that's what I need to do. Just looking for some advice.

We are going the send our newsletters in HTML format soon. I have found a lot of information (like on Litmus) about which e-mail program and web mailer understands which CSS property. But the only think I couldn't figure out is which DOCTYPE we should use. Our mass mailing tool always overwrites the DOCTYPE with HTML 4.0 Transitional: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> What would you say we should take to be compatible with most of the e-mail programs and web mailer? We don't use a lot of HTML and now special new CSS properties.

How can I detect 'any' ajax request being completed using jQuery?

I have a page where I can insert some javascript / jquery to manipulate the output. I don't have any other control over the page markup etc. I need to add an extra element via jquery after each present on the page. The issue is that the elements are generated via an asynchronous call on the existing page which occurs after $(document).ready is complete. Essentially, I need a way of calling my jquery after the page has loaded and the subsequent ajax calls have completed. Is there a way to detect the completion of any ajax call on the page and then call my own custom function to insert the additional elements after the newly created s ?

navigation framework in silverlight 3 skipping constructor when usercontrol is of a derived type

Hi: I am using the NavigationFramework in Silverlight 3, and am running into issues where the constructor of the UserControl in the xaml I am loading is not being called, and I believe this is because the UserControl in the xaml I am calling is actually derived from another user control. I have stepped through the debugger with specific break points and the constructor is being ignored completey. I have MyWindowBlue which is of type uctrlBaseMyWindow. The constructor for uctrlBaseMyWindow is being called when the xaml is 'navigated to' but the constructor for MyWindowBlue is being ignored. This is not the case if I add the user control via markup directly. Anyone else have this issue? The code I am using to navigate to the MyWindowBlue is this.MyContentFrame.Navigate(new Uri("/Controls/uctrlMyWindowBlue.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); Has anyone run into this or could offer any help? Image inside a button not positioned correctly in Firefox

One thing I've just realised that may be relevant - if I use an a instead of button, it works fine.

core-plot and NSDate (iPhone)

I wish to plot a line graph where the x-axis is defined as a number of days between two dates and the y-axis is a value that varies on each of the days. I can plot the y values as an NSNumber but I have no idea how to set the ranges and the markup on the x-axis. I have looked at the date example in the "examples" directory of the core-plot distribution but have found it a little confusing. Does anyone know of a tutorial, or code sample, which might asist me in this regard? Thank you in advance.

jQuery Tablesorter - disabled headers show progress bar, sortEnd never triggered

I'm combining Tablesorter's 'disable headers using options' function and the 'trigger sortStart / sortEnd' function and have run into an issue. css opacity not working in IE7

The image is correctly faded on all my computers running IE6, 7 or 8, except for one computer that runs IE7 and doesn't fade the flower, even in noext mode. Any thoughts how to port the regexp to MySQL? Or maybe you know any other way to check if the string is valid UTF-8? UPDATE: I need this check working on the MySQL as I need to run it on the server to correct broken tables. I can't pass the data through a script as the database is around 1TB.

Has NSXMLParser become more strict in iPhone SDK 3.x?

I recently migrated an iPhone project from the 2.2.1 SDK to 3.1.x and, to my surprise, an XML feed that was (and still is with the published app) being parsed by the 2.2.1 NSXMLParser is now causing NSXMLParser to return errors. The XML document in question doesn't meet the W3C standard, but the 2.2.1 parser is able to handle this. I'm curious if anyone knows what changed and, more importantly, if there's a way to "relax" the 3.1.x parser. I don't have much control over the XML document, unfortunately, so I might have to get creative if I can't rely on the NSXMLParser to handle things as it did before.

How does one suppress a 404 status code in a page?

I've got a WordPress site that includes pages pulled from a different database. The problem is that these other pages return a 404 status code. (The WordPress posts/pages are fine.) The 404'ed pages display fine, and I removed the "Page not Found" text from the title tag in WordPress. But Googlebot and W3C see the 404 header. So: wow does one tell Apache to suppress a 404 status? And will Apache override WordPress's 404 header? Does that make sense? What other info and things should I be looking at? Can I suppress the status code in .htaccess so I don't change WP core files?
