• displaying video from webcam in OpenCV

- by Adi
hi all, I have installed VS2008 and am able to run the demo codes "camshiftdemo and lkdemo " which comes in the opencv library. With this done, now I am trying to run some simple codes from the internet to get acquainted with the OpenCV. I am just trying to display video from webcam and I am getting the following error.. Error I am getting is : Unhandled exception at 0x5e7e3d10 (highgui200.dll) in opencv.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x719b3856. The code I am trying to run is : include include void main(int argc,char argv[]) { int c; IplImage color_img; CvCapture* cv_cap = cvCaptureFromCAM(-1); // -1 = only one cam or doesn't matter cvNamedWindow("Video",1); // create window for(;;) { color_img = cvQueryFrame(cv_cap); // get frame if(color_img != 0) cvShowImage("Video", color_img); // show frame c = cvWaitKey(10); // wait 10 ms or for key stroke if(c == 27) break; // if ESC, break and quit } /* clean up */ cvReleaseCapture( &cv_cap ); cvDestroyWindow("Video"); } Any help in this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks aditya

• Phonegap bluetooth plugin not working

- by user2907333
First time poster here , so I'm sorry if this question is asked incorrect or if there are any issues. I'm working on a phonegap app for which I need to be able to set up a bluetooth connection between a tablet (android in this case) and a Win CE PC. Currently i'm trying to get the bluetooth part to work on the tablet and i'm using the plug in you can find at https://github.com/tanelih/phonegap-bluetooth-plugin And for the momemt I'm just trying to enable and disable the Bluetooth on the device. In my bluetoothpage.js file i'm using the following method window.bluetooth.prototype.enable(bluetoothTestSucces(),bluetoothTestFail()); The bluetoothTestSucces and bluetoothTestFail functions just show an alert, nothing else. And if i understand the working of phonegap plugins correctly this uses the following code in my bluetooth.js file Bluetooth.prototype.enable = function(onSuccess, onError) { exec(onSuccess, onError, "Bluetooth", "enable", []); } which calls private void enable(JSONArray args, CallbackContext callbackCtx) { try { _bluetooth.enable(); callbackCtx.success(); } catch(Exception e) { this.error(callbackCtx, e.getMessage(), BluetoothError.ERR_UNKNOWN); } } in my BluetoothPlugin.java file. And if the java file returns Succes bluetoothTestSucces() is used and if the java file returns an error bluetoothTestFail() is used. But for some reason it runs both and does not turn on bluetooth on my device. I'm almost certain I've forgotten a link to a file or have linked it wrong somewhere. But I've followed the instructions that were included in the plugin. I've included the Bluetooth permission in my AndoridManifest file which is located in the root directory of my app I've included the plugin in my config.xml file which is located in res/xml I've required the plugin after the deviceready event as follows document.addEventListener("deviceready", onDeviceReady, false); function onDeviceReady() { window.bluetooth = cordova.require("cordova/plugin/bluetooth"); } Could anyone tell me how to fix this or what i've done wrong? thanks Martijn PS: I'm sorry for any language errors, English isn't my native language. edit: forgot to include some code

• Post method in Servlet is not being called again after being executed once

- by SaurabhCsIITKgp
I am implementing a database based web application using servlets. Now, when I input a parameter using a form in the jsp page, it redirects it to a servlet which subsequently adds the value to the database (the servlet creates a new table if the table doesn't already exist). The creation of the table and the addition of value works fine if the table doesn't already exists. Once it is created however and the parameter is inputted again in the form, the submit button no longer redirects it to the servlet. Nor is the value added to the database. Kindly advise me as to where I am going wrong. Following are the snippets of my code: From the JSP page (/showmanager is the urlpattern of the servlet):
Enter name of the show:
From the servlet (POST method): p rotected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { if(request.getParameter("task").equals("addshow")){ this.addShow(request.getParameter("showname")); response.sendRedirect("showmanager.jsp"); } } Method to add in database: protected boolean addShow(String showname){ try{ statement =con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO showdb10(name) VALUES ('"+showname+"')"); if(statement.executeUpdate()>0){ return true; } } catch(Exception e) { try{ statement =con.prepareStatement("create table showdb10 (id int NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, name varchar(255) NOT NULL, date varchar(20),time varchar(20), b_total int, o_total int, b_avbl int, o_avbl int, b_price double(10,2), o_price double(10,2), seat_no varchar(20), transaction_id varchar(255), total_sales double(10,2), paymnt_artists double(10,2), paymnt_othr double(10,2), flag varchar(20), PRIMARY KEY(id))"); statement.executeUpdate(); statement =con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO showdb10(name) VALUES ('"+showname+"')"); if(statement.executeUpdate()>0){ return true; } }catch(Exception e2){} } return false; }

• FindControl in DataList Edit Mode

- by Doug
As a new .net/C# web begginner, I always get tripped up when I try to use FindControl. Blam -flat on my face. Here is my current FindControl problem: I have an .aspx page and Form, then ajax updatePanel, inside it there is my DataList (DataList1) that has an EditItemTemplate: that has the following: <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="thumbnailUploadLabel" runat="server" text="Upload a new thumbnail image:"/>
<asp:FileUpload ID="thumbnailImageUpload" runat="server" /> <asp:Button ID="thunbnailImageUploadButton" runat="server" Text="Upload Now" OnClick="thumbnailUpload"/>
</EditItemTemplate> In my C# code behind I have the OnClick code for the fileUpload object: protected void thumbnailUpload(object s, EventArgs e) { if (thumbnailImageUpload.HasFile) { //get name of the file & upload string imageName = thumbnailImageUpload.FileName; thumbnailImageUpload.SaveAs(MapPath("../../images/merch_sm/" + imageName)); //let'em know that it worked (or didn't) thumbnailUploadLabel.Text = "Image " + imageName + "has been uploaded."; } else { thumbnailUploadLabel.Text = "Please choose a thumbnail image to upload."; } So of course I'm getting "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" for the FileUpload and the Label. What is the correct syntax to find these controls, before dealing with them in the OnClick event? The only way Ive used FindControl is something like: label thumbnailUploadLabel = DataList1.FindControl("thumbnailUploadLabel") as Label; But of course this is throwing the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. Any help is very much appreciated. (I've also seen the 'recursive' code out there that is supposed to make using FindControl easier. Ha! I'm so green at C# that I don't even know how to incorporate those into my project.) Thanks to all for taking a look at this.

• iPhone Multithreaded Search

- by Kulpreet
I'm sort of new to any sort of multithreading and simply can't seem to get a simple search method working on a background thread properly. Everything seems to be in order with an NSAutoreleasePool and the UI being updated on the main thread. The app doesn't crash and does perform a search in the background but the search results yield the several of the same items several times depending on how fast I type it in. The search works properly without the multithreading (which is commented out), but is very slow because of the large amounts of data I am working with. Here's the code: - (void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText { isSearching = YES; NSAutoreleasePool *apool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; /* Update the filtered array based on the search text and scope. */ //[self.filteredListContent removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. for (Entry *entry in appDelegate.entries) { NSComparisonResult result = [entry.gurmukhiEntry compare:searchText options:(NSCaseInsensitiveSearch|NSDiacriticInsensitiveSearch) range:NSMakeRange(0, [searchText length])]; if (result == NSOrderedSame) { [self.filteredListContent addObject:entry]; } } [self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView performSelectorOnMainThread:(@selector(reloadData)) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; //[self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView reloadData]; [apool drain]; isSearching = NO; } - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { if (!isSearching) { [self.filteredListContent removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. [self performSelectorInBackground:(@selector(filterContentForSearchText:)) withObject:searchString]; } //[self filterContentForSearchText:searchString]; return NO; // Return YES to cause the search result table view to be reloaded. }

• Can I print an HTMLLoader (pdf) in Adobe Air?

- by Stephano
I'm using AlivePDF to create a PDF file, then save it to the desktop. I can then use an HTMLLoader to display my lovely PDF file. Now, the print button in Adobe Reader works fine. However, there will be young children using the app, so I'd like to have a big "Print" button right above it. I figured I could just start up a print job and feed it my HTMLLoader. Am I doing something wrong here, cause I can't seem to get any output? note: variable "stuff" below is my HTMLLoader. I also have access to the PDF file if that comes in handy. private function print():void { var myPrintJob:PrintJob=new PrintJob(); var result:Boolean=myPrintJob.start(); if (result && stuff != null) { var rect:Rectangle=new Rectangle(0, 0, 2550, 3300); var opt:PrintJobOptions=new PrintJobOptions(true); myPrintJob.addPage(stuff, rect, opt); myPrintJob.send(); } else { //User does not have printer or user canceled print action } }

• "Link" against a SWC in Flex

- by ggambett
I'm trying to do a very simple app in Flash/Flex, that loads an image embedded in the swf itself and then shows it. The thing is I'm trying to do it using the command line only (mxmlc and compc) and without using @Embed, and failing miserably. I have a very simple Main.as : package { import flash.display.*; import flash.utils.*; public class Main extends Sprite { public function Main () : void { var pDef:Class = getDefinitionByName("icon_big.png") as Class; var _image:BitmapData = new pDef(0, 0); var pSprite:Sprite = new Sprite(); pSprite.graphics.beginBitmapFill(_image); pSprite.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, _image.width, _image.height); pSprite.graphics.endFill(); addChild(pSprite); } } } This works fine if I add icon_big.png to the Library using the Flash IDE, but I can't figure out how to do it from the command line. I'm using compc to put the png inside a swc : compc --include-file icon_big.png icon_big.png -output assets.swc This generates a 17 kb assets.swf, slightly bigger than icon_big.png. Then I try to compile and link Main.as : mxmlc -include-libraries+=assets.swc Main.as This produces a 944 byte Main.swf, which clearly doesn't include the asset, and fails at runtime. According to the mxmlc docs I found, -include-libraries should link with every class, including the ones not directly referenced by code (as is the case here, since I'm getting the class from code), and it unsurprisingly fails at runtime. Note that this same code (or, more precisely, quite equivalent code) works when used within a Flash project - I'm not looking to fix the code, but how to do in the command line whatever Flash does internally. I feel I'm just "not getting" something... any clues?

• Set fields with instrospection - Problem with String.valueOf(String)

- by fabb
Hey there! I'm setting public fields of the Object 'this' via reflection. Both the field name and the value are given as String. I use several various field types: Boolean, Integer, Float, Double, an own enum, and a String. It works with all of them except with a String. The exception that gets thrown is that no method with the Signature String.valueOf(String) exists... Now I use a dirty instanceof workaround to detect if each field is a String and in that case just copy the value to the field. private void setField(String field, String value) throws Exception { Field wField = this.getClass().getField(field); if(wField.get(this) instanceof String){ //TODO dirrrrty hack //stupid workaround as java.lang.String.valueOf(java.lang.String) fails... wField.set(this, value); }else{ Method parseMethod = wField.getType().getMethod("valueOf", new Class[]{String.class}); wField.set(this, parseMethod.invoke(wField, value)); } } Any ideas how to avoid that workaround? Do you think java.lang.String should support the method valueOf(String)? thanks, fabb

• Connecting Error to Remote Oracle XE database using ASP.NET

- by imsatasia
Hello, I have installed Oracle XE on my Development machine and it is working fine. Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser. Now, I want to create an ASP.Net application which can access that Oracle XE database. I tried it too, but it always shows me an error on my TEST machine to connect database to the Development Machine using ASP.Net. Here is my code for ASP.Net application: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string connectionString = GetConnectionString(); OracleConnection connection = new OracleConnection(connectionString); connection.Open(); Label1.Text = "State: " + connection.State; Label1.Text = "ConnectionString: " + connection.ConnectionString; OracleCommand command = connection.CreateCommand(); string sql = "SELECT * FROM Users"; command.CommandText = sql; OracleDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { string myField = (string)reader["nID"]; Console.WriteLine(myField); } } static private string GetConnectionString() { // To avoid storing the connection string in your code, // you can retrieve it from a configuration file. return "User Id=System;Password=admin;Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=" + "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myServerAddress)(PORT=1521))" + "(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=)));"; }

• Drawing line Continous.

- by japs
Hi All, How to draw line continuous in uiview? I have used below code and it works fine but after drawing line straght when i draw another line then first one gets clear if i do not clear that then they join each other. Please suggest some solution. (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); //for( Line *eachLine in lineArray ) // [eachLine drawInContext:context]; CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 2.0); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [UIColor redColor].CGColor); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context, [UIColor redColor].CGColor); if (firstTouch.x != 0.0 && firstTouch.y != 0.0) { CGRect dotRect = CGRectMake(firstTouch.x - 3, firstTouch.y - 3.0, 5.0, 5.0); CGContextAddEllipseInRect(context, dotRect); CGContextDrawPath(context, kCGPathFillStroke); **CGContextMoveToPoint(context, firstTouch.x, firstTouch.y); for (NSString *onePointString in points) { CGPoint nextPoint = CGPointFromString(onePointString); CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, nextPoint.x, nextPoint.y); }** CGContextStrokePath(context); } else { CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context, self.backgroundColor.CGColor); CGContextAddRect(context, self.bounds); CGContextFillPath(context); } }

• Debugging a HTTP Handler from Visual Studio

- by O.O.
I am trying to debug a HTTP Handler in Visual Studio and the break point is not getting hit. Does anyone have an idea on how to go about debugging HTTP Handlers in Visual Studio? I am using VS 2010 Premium, .NET 4.0 on a Windows 7 machine. In my Web Application I have a HTTP Handler in /HTTPHandler/TrackingHandler.cs The following is in my web config file: <system.webServer> <handlers> <add name="TrackingHandler" path="/tx/*" verb="*" type="ProjectNamespace.TrackingHandler" resourceType="Unspecified" preCondition="integratedMode" /> </handlers> </system.webServer> My HTTP Handler looks like below namespace ProjectNamespace { public class TrackingHandler : IHttpHandler { public bool IsReusable { get { return true; } } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { //Breakpoint on the very first line below string tracker = Path.GetFileName(context.Request.PhysicalPath); ....... } } } I start my Web Application using any random page in Visual Studio Debug using the builtin Web Server. I then maually edit the URL to point to the /tx/ directory and some random string after it. For e.g. my current URL looks like http://localhost:53699/tx/sdfs. I thought this should pull up the breakpoint on the first line of ProcessRequest() but it does not. I’d be grateful for any ideas. O. O.

• Unit Testing (xUnit) an ASP.NET Mvc Controller with a custom input model?

- by Danny Douglass
I'm having a hard time finding information on what I expect to be a pretty straightforward scenario. I'm trying to unit test an Action on my ASP.NET Mvc 2 Controller that utilizes a custom input model w/ DataAnnotions. My testing framework is xUnit, as mentioned in the title. Here is my custom Input Model: public class EnterPasswordInputModel { [Required(ErrorMessage = "")] public string Username { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "Password is a required field.")] public string Password { get; set; } } And here is my Controller (took out some logic to simplify for this ex.): [HttpPost] public ActionResult EnterPassword(EnterPasswordInputModel enterPasswordInput) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) return View(); // do some logic to validate input // if valid - next View on successful validation return View("NextViewName"); // else - add and display error on current view return View(); } And here is my xUnit Fact (also simplified): [Fact] public void EnterPassword_WithValidInput_ReturnsNextView() { // Arrange var controller = CreateLoginController(userService.Object); // Act var result = controller.EnterPassword( new EnterPasswordInputModel { Username = username, Password = password }) as ViewResult; // Assert Assert.Equal("NextViewName", result.ViewName); } When I run my test I get the following error on my test fact when trying to retrieve the controller result (Act section): System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

• navigateToURL with GET parameters in local SWF

- by Michael Brewer-Davis
I'm running a Flex application locally (local-with-filesystem or local-trusted), and I'm trying to call navigateToURL to a local page using GET parameters. Flash Player seems to be ignoring the parameters when opening the local page, though. I've been scouring the Flash security pages to find a documented prohibition for this, but haven't found anything. Pointers? How would you work around this issue? My Flex app: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"> <mx:Script> private function onClick(event:MouseEvent):void { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("target.html"); request.data = new URLVariables(); request.data.text = "stackoverflow.com"; navigateToURL(request); } </mx:Script> <mx:Button label="Go" click="onClick(event)" /> </mx:Application> And my target.html:

• debugging scaffolding contingent upon degbugging boolean (java)

- by David
Recently i've found myself writing a lot of methods with what i can only think to call debugging scaffolding. Here's an example: public static void printArray (String[] array, boolean bug) { for (int i = 0; i<array.lenght; i++) { if (bug) System.out.print (i) ; //this line is what i'm calling the debugging scaffolding i guess. System.out.println(array[i]) ; } } in this method if i set bug to true, wherever its being called from maybe by some kind of user imput, then i get the special debugging text to let me know what index the string being printed as at just in case i needed to know for the sake of my debugging (pretend a state of affairs exists where its helpful). All of my questions more or less boil down to the question: is this a good idea? but with a tad bit more objectivity: Is this an effective way to test my methods and debug them? i mean effective in terms of efficiency and not messing up my code. Is it acceptable to leave the if (bug) stuff ; code in place after i've got my method up and working? (if a definition of "acceptability" is needed to make this question objective then use "is not a matter of programing controversy such as ommiting brackets in an if(boolean) with only one line after it, though if you've got something better go ahead and use your definition i won't mind) Is there a more effective way to accomplish the gole of making debugging easier than what i'm doing? Anything you know i mean to ask but that i have forgotten too (as much information as makes sense is appreciated).

• java - codesprint2 programming contest answer

I recently took part in Codesprint2. I was unable to submit the solution to the following question. http://www.spoj.pl/problems/COINTOSS/ ( I have posted the link to the problem statement at spoj because the codesprint link requires login ) I checked out one of the successful solutions, ( url : http://pastebin.com/uQhNh9Rc ) and the logic used is exactly the same as mine, yet I am still getting "Wrong Answer" I would be very thankful if someone could please tell me what error I have made, as I am unable to find it. Thank you. My code : import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.InputStreamReader; import java.text.DecimalFormat; import java.util.StringTokenizer; public class Solution { static double solve( int n, int m ) { if( m==n ) return 0; if( m==0 ) return ( Math.pow( 2, n+1 ) - 2 ); else { double res = 1 + ( Double )( solve( n, m+1 ) + solve( n, 0 ))/2; return res; } } public static void main( String[] args ) throws IOException { BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader( System.in )); int n, m; int t = Integer.parseInt( br.readLine() ); StringTokenizer tok; String s; for( int T=0; T<t; T++ ) { s = br.readLine(); tok = new StringTokenizer( s ); n = Integer.parseInt( tok.nextToken() ); m = Integer.parseInt( tok.nextToken() ); DecimalFormat df = new DecimalFormat(); df.setMaximumFractionDigits(2); df.setMinimumFractionDigits(2); System.out.println( df.format ( solve( n, m ) )); } } }

• Best Practice With JFrame Constructors?

- by David Barry
In both my Java classes, and the books we used in them laying out a GUI with code heavily involved the constructor of the JFrame. The standard technique in the books seems to be to initialize all components and add them to the JFrame in the constructor, and add anonymous event handlers to handle events where needed, and this is what has been advocated in my class. This seems to be pretty easy to understand, and easy to work with when creating a very simple GUI, but seems to quickly get ugly and cumbersome when making anything other than a very simple gui. Here is a small code sample of what I'm describing: public class FooFrame extends JFrame { JLabel inputLabel; JTextField inputField; JButton fooBtn; JPanel fooPanel; public FooFrame() { super("Foo"); fooPanel = new JPanel(); fooPanel.setLayout(new FlowLayout()); inputLabel = new JLabel("Input stuff"); fooPanel.add(inputLabel); inputField = new JTextField(20); fooPanel.add(inputField); fooBtn = new JButton("Do Foo"); fooBtn.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { //handle event } }); fooPanel.add(fooBtn); add(fooPanel, BorderLayout.CENTER); } } Is this type of use of the constructor the best way to code a Swing application in java? If so, what techniques can I use to make sure this type of constructor is organized and maintainable? If not, what is the recommended way to approach putting together a JFrame in java?

• C Programming Logic Error?

- by mbpluvr64
The following code compiles fine, but does not allow the user to choose whether or not the program is to run again. After giving the user the answer, the program automatically terminates. I placed the main code in a "do while" loop to have the ability to convert more than one time if I wanted too. I have tried to run the program in the command line (Mac and Ubuntu machines) and within XCode with the exact same results. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. C Beginner P.S. • Adding a ServiceReference programmatically during async postback

- by Oliver
Is it possible to add a new ServiceReference instance to the ScriptManager on the Page during an asynchronous postback so that subsequently I can use the referenced web service through client side script? I'm trying to do this inside a UserControl that sits inside a Repeater, that's why adding the ScriptReference programmatically during Page_Load does not work here. EDIT 2: This is the code I call from my UserControl which does not do what I expect (adding the ServiceReference to the ScriptManager during the async postback): private void RegisterWebservice(Type webserviceType) { var scm = ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page); if (scm == null) throw new InvalidOperationException("ScriptManager needed on the Page!"); scm.Services.Add(new ServiceReference("~/" + webserviceType.Name + ".asmx")); } My goal is for my my UserControl to be as unobtrusive to the surrounding application as possible; otherwise I would have to statically define the ServiceReference in a ScriptManagerProxy on the containing Page, which is not what I want. EDIT: I must have been tired when I wrote this post... because I meant to write ServiceReference not ScriptReference. Updated the text above accordingly. Now I have: <asp:ScriptManagerProxy runat="server" ID="scmProxy"> <Services> <asp:ServiceReference Path="~/UsefulnessWebService.asmx" /> </Services> </asp:ScriptManagerProxy> but I want to register the webservice in the CodeBehind.

• CommandBuilder and SqlTransaction to insert/update a row

- by Jesse
I can get this to work, but I feel as though I'm not doing it properly. The first time this runs, it works as intended, and a new row is inserted where "thisField" contains "doesntExist" However, if I run it a subsequent time, I get a run-time error that I can't insert a duplicate key as it violate the primary key "thisField". static void Main(string[] args) { using(var sqlConn = new SqlConnection(connString) ) { sqlConn.Open(); var dt = new DataTable(); var sqlda = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM table WHERE thisField ='doesntExist'", sqlConn); sqlda.Fill(dt); DataRow dr = dt.NewRow(); dr["thisField"] = "doesntExist"; //Primary key dt.Rows.Add(dr); //dt.AcceptChanges(); //I thought this may fix the problem. It didn't. var sqlTrans = sqlConn.BeginTransaction(); try { sqlda.SelectCommand = new SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM table WITH (HOLDLOCK, ROWLOCK) WHERE thisField = 'doesntExist'", sqlConn, sqlTrans); SqlCommandBuilder sqlCb = new SqlCommandBuilder(sqlda); sqlda.InsertCommand = sqlCb.GetInsertCommand(); sqlda.InsertCommand.Transaction = sqlTrans; sqlda.DeleteCommand = sqlCb.GetDeleteCommand(); sqlda.DeleteCommand.Transaction = sqlTrans; sqlda.UpdateCommand = sqlCb.GetUpdateCommand(); sqlda.UpdateCommand.Transaction = sqlTrans; sqlda.Update(dt); sqlTrans.Commit(); } catch (Exception) { //... } } } Even when I can get that working through trial and error of moving AcceptChanges around, or encapsulating changes within Begin/EndEdit, then I begin to experience a "Concurrency violation" in which it won't update the changes, but rather tell me it failed to update 0 of 1 affected rows. Is there something crazy obvious I'm missing?

• [Cocoa] Binding CoreData Managed Object to NSTextFieldCell subclass

- by ndg
I have an NSTableView which has its first column set to contain a custom NSTextFieldCell. My custom NSTextFieldCell needs to allow the user to edit a "desc" property within my Managed Object but to also display an "info" string that it contains (which is not editable). To achieve this, I followed this tutorial. In a nutshell, the tutorial suggests editing your Managed Objects generated subclass to create and pass a dictionary of its contents to your NSTableColumn via bindings. This works well for read-only NSCell implementations, but I'm looking to subclass NSTextFieldCell to allow the user to edit the "desc" property of my Managed Object. To do this, I followed one of the articles comments, which suggests subclassing NSFormatter to explicitly state which Managed Object property you would like the NSTextFieldCell to edit. Here's the suggested implementation: @implementation TRTableDescFormatter - (BOOL)getObjectValue:(id *)anObject forString:(NSString *)string errorDescription:(NSString **)error { if (anObject != nil){ *anObject = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:string forKey:@"desc"]; return YES; } return NO; } - (NSString *)stringForObjectValue:(id)anObject { if (![anObject isKindOfClass:[NSDictionary class]]) return nil; return [anObject valueForKey:@"desc"]; } - (NSAttributedString*)attributedStringForObjectValue:(id)anObject withDefaultAttributes:(NSDictionary *)attrs { if (![anObject isKindOfClass:[NSDictionary class]]) return nil; NSAttributedString *anAttributedString = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString: [anObject valueForKey:@"desc"]]; return anAttributedString; } @end I assign the NSFormatter subclass to my cell in my NSTextFieldCell subclass, like so: - (void)awakeFromNib { TRTableDescFormatter *formatter = [[[TRTableDescFormatter alloc] init] autorelease]; [self setFormatter:formatter]; } This seems to work, but is extremely patch. On occasion, clicking to edit a row will cause its value to nullify. On other occasions, the value you enter on one row will populate other rows within the table. I've been doing a lot of reading on this subject and would really like to get to the bottom of this. What's more frustrating is that my NSTextFieldCell is rendering exactly how I would like it to. This editing issue is my last obstacle! If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated.

• Custom UIView using CALayers disappears after 180º rotation or navigation controller pop

- by Steve Madsen
I have a created a custom UIView subclass that is exhibiting some strange behavior. It is a spinning wheel selector, and for performance reasons it is drawn entirely into two CALayer instances. The bottom layer is the wheel itself, which is rotated using setAffineTransform: according to touches. The top layer is eye candy. drawRect: is fairly simple. If the control hasn't been drawn yet (or it's been invalidated), it calls a method that creates the images and assigns them to the layer contents property. - (void) drawRect:(CGRect)rect { if (imageLayer == nil) { [self drawIntoImageLayer]; } [self updateWheelRotation]; } When the view controller using this view first appears, everything is fine. There are two instances where the view completely disappears, however: If the device is rotated a full 180°. After a view controller is popped off the navigation stack and the view becomes visible again. drawRect: is not called either time. Interestingly enough, it IS called after a 90° orientation change, and that causes the view to re-appear. How can I ensure that a custom view using CALayers is redrawn properly in these situations?

- by GigaPr
Hi, i created a list of Users
<c:forEach items="${users}" var="user">
<c:out value="${user.id}"/>

<c:out value="${user.firstName}"/>

<c:out value="${user.lastName}"/>

<c:out value="${user.username}"/>

</c:forEach>
and my controler looks like this public class UsersController implements Controller { private UserServiceImplementation userServiceImplementation; public ModelAndView handleRequest(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { ModelAndView modelAndView = new ModelAndView("users"); modelAndView.addObject("users", this.userServiceImplementation.get()); return modelAndView; } public UserServiceImplementation getUserServiceImplementation() { return userServiceImplementation; } public void setUserServiceImplementation(UserServiceImplementation userServiceImplementation) { this.userServiceImplementation = userServiceImplementation; } } How can i handle the delete and edit button event?

• ldap_bind_s returning LDAP_SUCCESS with wrong credentials

- by rezna
Hi guys, I have this little problem. I want to authenticate user against LDAP (Windows Active Directory), everything works OK, but the combination (good user, good password, wrong domain). LDAP* ldap = ldap_init(L"myserver", 389); ULONG ldap_version = 3; ULONG ret = LDAP_SUCCESS; ret = ldap_set_option(ldap, LDAP_OPT_PROTOCOL_VERSION, (void*)&ldap_version); ret = ldap_connect(ldap, NULL); SEC_WINNT_AUTH_IDENTITY ai; ai.Domain = (unsigned short*)BAD_DOMAIN; ai.DomainLength = wcslen(BAD_DOMAIN); ai.User = (unsigned short*)OK_USER; ai.UserLength = wcslen(OK_USER); ai.Password = (unsigned short*)OK_PASS; ai.PasswordLength = wcslen(OK_PASS); ai.Flags = SEC_WINNT_AUTH_IDENTITY_UNICODE; ret = ldap_bind_s(ldap, NULL, (PWCHAR) &ai, LDAP_AUTH_NTLM); // !!! HERE !!! ret = ldap_unbind_s(ldap); On the line marke '!!! HERE !!!' I'd expect 0x31 or any other error returned. Instead I get LDAP_SUCCESS :( Any suggestions? Thx, Milan

• How to mult-thread this?

- by WilliamKF
I wish to have two threads. The first thread1 occasionally calls the following pseudo function: void waitForThread2() { if (thread2 is not idle) { return; } notifyThread2IamReady(); while (thread2IsExclusive) { } } The second thread2 is forever in the following pseudo loop: for (;;) { Notify thread1 I am idle. while (!thread1IsReady()) { } Notify thread1 I am exclusive. Do some work while thread1 is blocked. Notify thread1 I am busy. Do some work in parallel with thread1. } What is the best way to write this such that both thread1 and thread2 are kept as busy as possible on a machine with multiple cores. I would like to avoid long delays between notification in one thread and detection by the other. I tried using pthread condition variables but found the delay between thread2 doing 'notify thread1 I am busy' and the loop in waitForThread2() on thear2IsExclusive() can be up to almost one second delay. I then tried using a volatile sig_atomic_t shared variable to control the same, but something is going wrong, so I must not be doing it correctly.
