• Blog Engine .NET with XML Data Storage How is it so fast ?

  I am looking for a way to embed a blog engine into my own application and I am too curious about Blog Engine algorithm. This may not be the correct place to ask but, How is that possible to store blog entry data in an XML file like BlogEngine.Net with Default Configuration. It must be getting slower everyday while the file is getting larger and larger. I am wondering the algorithm behind that. Is it loading with a different way ? Or Am I wrong with the time estimation ? I know it is open source but I thought it would be better to see a discussion here for some others might be thinking the same and this thread can be a reference.

• PartCover code details

  I am using PartCover 2.2/2.3(trying with both) on win 7 x64. After generating report and selecting view coverage details, I can see for each method the code coverage. When I click on a method I see on the right list with block, block length, visit count and has source(set to yes). However, it doesn't fill the code like shown here http://www.csharpcity.com/using-partcover-and-nunit-for-code-coverage/. I haven't checked anything, everything is default. Can you tell me how I can see the coverage code? Thank you

• How to select saxon TransformerFactory in Java

  In my web application I need to use Saxon TransformerFactory to use XSLT 2.0 but I can't use setProperty method because I haven't this right on the web server and there is a Security Manager. So i have read that it's possible to do this: Use the Services API (as detailed in the JAR specification), if available, to determine the classname. The Services API will look for a classname in the file META-INF/services/javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory in jars available to the runtime. I found this file in WEB-INF/lib/saxon9.jar but when I istantiate a TransformerFactory is always selected default factory and not saxon factory. How can I select Saxon Transformer Factory? Thanks

Also i thought that maybe it's because the default fonts somehow do not support utf-8 so according to pisa documentation i tried to set fontface in template body in style section. that still gave no results. Does any one have some ideas how to solve this issue?

  My model object (e.g. MyObject) has one property (e.g. color), the "color" property holds a string value which comes from a list of string (e.g. colors=['red','yellow', 'black']). now, I have one instance of myObject get from database and show on the view page in a row, I need to show the 'color' property of myObject in a drop down menu with the current value as the default selected. How to implement this in Rails 3 in my view page. (Later, when user select from the dropdown menu, the object will be updated in DB based on user's selection) Please explain with instance "myObject" and list "colors=[...]"

• MS SQL 2005/2008: Identify current user

  Hello I have a web application, which is using a MS SQL 2005 database. My problem is, that the application has no rolemanagement. So the application always accesses the database with one default user. But now I have to save and access a value only for the current user. Is there any way to do this? Maybe something like a session on the webserver? The best way would be, if there is any possibility to access the current session id of the webserver from T-SQL. Do anyone understand my problem? :) Torben

• C# File.ReadAllLines not breaking on line feeds

  Hello, I have an application that I am building that needs to modify a configuration file. My problem is that I am not able to read the file in line by line. I keep geeting the the entire file as a single string. string ConfigTemplate = AEBuildsSPFolderName + "\Template_BuildReleaseScript.Config"; string[] fileSourceLines = File.ReadAllLines(ConfigTemplate, Encoding.Default); --Returns the entire file contents into the first array element. using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(ConfigTemplate)) { string line; while ((line = reader.ReadLine()) != null) --Returns the entire file contents into the first line read. • Is it normal that conversationId keeps increasing after each page request?

  Hi I'm building a Seam application and have a question: I got a stateless session bean (default seam scope) with a delete and a select method. A page which contains a datamodel loads and got links to select and delete each row (both links refer to the actionmethods in the bean). The delete method deletes the selected row from the list and returns null (reloads page). The select method loads a new page where the selected row can be edited. Each time a link in the datamodel is clicked and an action gets fired, the conversationId gets increased. Is this normal behaviour since im not even in a conversation? If it ain't normal behaviour, what's best practice to prevent this from happening?

  There are few things not clear to me about ASP.NET MV2. In database I have table Contacts with several fields, and there is an additional field XmlFields of which type is xml. In that field are stored additional description fields. There are 4 classes: Contact class which corresponds to Contact table and is defined by default when creating LINQ classes ContactListView class which inherits Contact class and has some additional properties ContactXmlView class that contains fields from XmlFields field ContactDetailsView class which merges ContactListView and ContactXmlView into one class and this one is used to display data in view pages ContactListView class has re-defined some properties from Contact class (so that I can add [Required] filter used for validation) - but I get warning message: 'ObjectTest.Models.Contacts.ContactListView.FirstName' hides inherited member 'SA.Model.Contact.FirstName'. Use the new keyword if hiding was intended. ContactDetailsView class is also used in a form when creating new contact and adding it to database. I am not sure if this is correct way, and the warning message confuses me a bit. Any advise about this? Thanks, Ile

  I currently have a 32-bit .Net application (on x86 Windows) which require lots of memory. Recently it started throwing System.OutOfMemoryException's. So, I am planning to move it to a x64 platform as 64-bit process. So will this help with the out of memory exceptions. I was reading this article from MSDN Memory limits for Windows So, my question is if I compile a 64bit .Net application, will it have IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE set as default (As the article suggests)? i.e will I be able to take advantage of the 8GB user-mode virtual address space?

Requirements: Password (with the hidden numbers) Typing digits as the default (only?) keyboard What I've tried: I thought that InputScopes would be the way to go, but I can't set the input scope on a password box. I even tried putting the password InputScope on a normal TextBox, but that didn't mask the appearance of the characters in the text box. Suggestions?

  So there are 8 categories that may be associated to each order, but not necessarily all of them. So i was going to build a list box that allowed the user to double click each of the category they wish to associate when they have an "Order Detail" form opened up (unbound form that has hidden text boxes with all needed ID numbers). I want to have another empty text box right beside it that will allow me to append the selections (up to 8) so the user can see that they have been added. So one list box with the default choices, and when a choice is double clicked, it adds that choice to the second list box to see the tally so to speak.   Hi guys, I am having a big problem trying to find a logging option for our SOLR integration. Recently I have started using SOLRNET to add documents from the database in batches as previously we were just renewing the entire index every morning. So far this solution is working very well and is exactly what we wanted. However, I am in need of a solution that will log every document being added and can also differentiate between an "add" or an "update". It seems posting to solr handles it in a way where "if the document exists, overwrite it; If not then add" but in the catalina logfile this operations looks identical no matter what the scenario. My question is; Are there any logging solutions out there that can accomplish this, the current default logging options in solr that log to catalina are insufficient. Many thanks for any help.

  For our CMS we have a site manager that defines the site's tree structure (sitemap if you want to call it that). A possible url is www.example.com/our-team/developers/chris/ which would map in the tree structure to the node chris, child old developers which is in turn a child of out-team. All this is in place and working the the wonderfully implemented Nested Set behavior in doctrine. The only thing is that i'm struggling to get it working in the front end of our website. By default Zend framework's request object expects controller/action/key/value/key/value/... URI scheme but that isn't quite fitting my needs, i would like to skip the whole controller, action and key part and restrict to values. Something like value1/value2/value3/value4/... Anyone has an idea how to accomplish this?

• Bing map silverlight control content rendering issue when page gets refresh

  When Bing map control loads for first time on any browser all pushpin on map are visible. Bing map control renders perfectly. Then I refresh browser it create rendering issue some custom pushpin on map gets disappeared. This behavior continues with pushpin. Pushpin are (.png) images and I am not using default bing map thumbtacks. May be it is issue of browser caching content or Bing map control rendering issues on various browsers.    Code-based migrations is a new feature as part of the Connector/Net support for Entity Framework 4.3.1. In this tutorial we'll see how we can use it so we can keep track of the changes done to our database creating a new application using the code first approach. If you don't have a clear idea about how code first works we highly recommend you to check this subject before going further with this tutorial. Creating our Model and Database with Code First  From VS 2010  1. Create a new console application 2.  Add the latest Entity Framework official package using Package Manager Console (Tools Menu, then Library Package Manager -> Package Manager Console). In the Package Manager Console we have to type  Install-Package EntityFramework This will add the latest version of this library.  We will also need to make some changes to your config file. A <configSections> was added which contains the version you have from EntityFramework.  An <entityFramework> section was also added where you can set up some initialization. This section is optional and by default is generated to use SQL Express. Since we don't need it for now (we'll see more about it below) let's leave this section empty as shown below. 3. Create a new Model with a simple entity. 4. Enable Migrations to generate the our Configuration class. In the Package Manager Console we have to type  Enable-Migrations; This will make some changes in our application. It will create a new folder called Migrations where all the migrations representing the changes we do to our model.  It will also create a Configuration class that we'll be using to initialize our SQL Generator and some other values like if we want to enable Automatic Migrations.  You can see that it already has the name of our DbContext. You can also create you Configuration class manually. 5. Specify our Model Provider. We need to specify in our Class Configuration that we'll be using MySQLClient since this is not part of the generated code. Now let's apply this change. Update-database -verbose I added the verbose flag so you can see all the SQL generated statements to be run. Downgrading changes So far we have always upgraded to the latest migration, but there may be times when you want downgrade to a specific migration. Let's say we want to return to the status we have before our last migration. We can use the -TargetMigration option to specify the migration we'd like to return. Also you can use the -verbose flag. If you like to go  back to the Initial state you can do: Update-Database -TargetMigration:$InitialDatabase  or equivalent: Update-Database -TargetMigration:0  Migrations doesn't allow by default a migration that would ocurr in a data loss. One case when you can got this message is for example in a DropColumn operation. You can override this configuration by setting AutomaticMigrationDataLossAllowed to true in the configuration class. Also you can set your Database Initializer in case you want that these Migrations can be applied automatically and you don't have to go all the way through creating a migration and updating later the changes. Let's see how. Database Initialization by Code We can specify an initialization strategy by using Database.SetInitializer (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg679461(v=vs.103)). One of the strategies that I found very useful when you are at a development stage (I mean not for production) is the MigrateDatabaseToLatestVersion. This way all changes will always be applied when we do any data access in our application.   I am building a settings dialog for my application and right now all of the settings correspond with settings on the main view-model, but as I add more view's and view-models some may not. I need to know what the best practice is for loading the current settings into the settings dialog and then saving the settings to thier corresponding view-models if the user clicks okay. I will not be using the Properties.Settings.Default system to store settings since I want my application to be as portable as possible and this would store user scoped settings in the directory: C:\Users\ username \Local Settings\Application Data\ ApplicationName Instead of in my application's directory. In case it makes any difference I am using the MVVM Light Toolkit by Laurent Bugnion.

  I have an instance of Apache Tomcat 6.x running, and I want it to interpret the character set of incoming URLs a little more intelligent than the default behavior. In particular, I want to achieve the following mapping: So%DFe => Soße So%C3%9Fe => Soße So%DF%C3%9F => (error) The bevavior I want could be described as "try to decode the byte stream as UTF-8, and if it doesn't work assume ISO-8859-1". Simply using the URIEncoding configuration doesn't work in that case. So how can I configure Tomcat to encode the request the way I want? I might have to write a Filter that takes the request (especially the query string) and re-encodes it into the parameters. Would that be the natural way?

• Secondary Domain Adds Extra Folder in URL during Postbacks

  My ASP.NET Website (C#, 3.5 framework, IIS7) is hosted at GoDaddy. There are multiple sites on the account. Currently when I perform postbacks or Response.Redirects on a secondary web site, the following URL appears in the address bar: www.mywebsite.com/webfolder/default.aspx Where the "webfolder" is the sub-directory on the server where the web site is hosted (i.e. SeverRoot/webfolder). The site seems to work with or without the folder in the URL. Is there a way to remove the folder from the URLs during postback? I think I have to use URL Rewriting (which GoDaddy supports using Microsoft's Rewrite Module) but I'm not sure how.

  I am using same network for 2 days and everything was normal. However, today even though it shows me as connected to the network, I do not have internet connection. If I use ethernet cable instead of wireless, I am still able to connect to the internet. Also my friends are able to connect to the wireless network and they can get internet connection.
