• Is it normal that conversationId keeps increasing after each page request?

  Hi I'm building a Seam application and have a question: I got a stateless session bean (default seam scope) with a delete and a select method. A page which contains a datamodel loads and got links to select and delete each row (both links refer to the actionmethods in the bean). The delete method deletes the selected row from the list and returns null (reloads page). The select method loads a new page where the selected row can be edited. Each time a link in the datamodel is clicked and an action gets fired, the conversationId gets increased. Is this normal behaviour since im not even in a conversation? If it ain't normal behaviour, what's best practice to prevent this from happening?

• Get "As low as" price for bundle product in Magento

  I'm trying to display a list of bundled products using my custom template. I'm not able to display the dynamic price of the bundle product. Previously for simple products I used: $product->getPrice(); which worked, but it just displays $0.00 for bundle items. looking at ../catalog/products/list.phtml I tried $this->$getPriceHtml($product, true); after extending my block to Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_Abstract I got simple products working again, but bundle products still show $0.00 Is there another way to display the as low as price for dynamic bundle prices? I cleared cache and reindexed and all that good stuff. The price shows up correctly under the default category list, just not under my custom page.

  One particular problem I was having was using ${word_selection} in an Eclipse PDT template. I was recently trying to use some code templates with Eclipse PDT 2.1 to speed up some common tasks. We use a lot of getters/setters, so I wrote the following template. function get${word_selection}() { return $$this->getData('${word_selection}'); } function set${word_selection}($$${word_selection}) { $$this->setData('${word_selection}', $$${word_selection}); } I named the template "getset" and the only way I know to use the Code Assist is to type: "getset" then hit my code assist keys (I have it set to Esc, but I think the default was Ctrl+Space). The problem is, this doesn't actually let me select a word to be used by the ${word_selection}. how do I type in my template name, hit the key combo, and have a word selected all at the same time? I also want to know what kinds of templates people have set up and any other tips for using templates to speed of programming.

  I'm using .NET2, I have an installer project. In the User Interface, I've created a RadioButtons (3 Buttons) dialog box. I've placed it before the Installation Folder Dialog. I wish to incorporate the value selected in the RadioButtons dialog as part of the Installation Folder. To do this I've placed the name of the variable amongst the path where I wish to use it in the DefaultLocation: [ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer]\[ProductName]\[BUTTON3] The effect of this is that the default value for the variable, BUTTON3 in the example above, is resolved as part of the folder, not the selected value. Anybody know how to make this variable use delayed expansion in some way to get the selected value?

  I need to deserialize some JSON to a Java tree structure that contains TreeNodes and NodeData. TreeNodes are thin wrappers around NodeData. I'll provide the JSON and the classes below. I have looked at the usual Gson help sources, including here, but I can't seem to come up with the solution. Serialization works fine with Gson. The JSON below was produced by Gson. But deserialization is the problem I need help with. Can someone show me how to write the deserializer (or suggest an alternative approach using Gson best practices)? Here is my JSON.   Hello everyone! I'm trying to create annual, all-day events with VBA in outlook 2007. I use the following code, but no matter which conbination of Start, StartDate, End, etc I use, it won't create a whole-day event. Either it gives it default start/end times, or it remove the all-day attribute... Dim Birthday As Date 'Get the birthday '... Dim BDay As AppointmentItem Dim Pattern As Outlook.RecurrencePattern Set BDay = Application.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem) Set Pattern = BDay.GetRecurrencePattern Pattern.RecurrenceType = olRecursYearly Pattern.DayOfMonth = Day(Birthday) Pattern.MonthOfYear = Month(Birthday) Pattern.PatternStartDate = Birthday Pattern.NoEndDate = True BDay.AllDayEvent = True BDay.Subject = Contact.FullName BDay.Save When created directly in outlook, entries start on the birth day and end 24 hours later. Yet trying to set Start and End this way results in errors. Plus, entries created outlook have no start/end time in the recurrence pattern (well, they are all-day entries...) Ideas, anybody? Thanks!

• MissingSourceFile when I run "cucumber features"

  I had cucumber 0.6.1 working quite fine... but I ran the gem update cucumber command, and things went smoothly. Then when I decided to run the cucumber features command, I received this error: Using the default profile... no such file to load -- cucumber/webrat/element_locator (MissingSourceFile) /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in gem_original_require' /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:inpolyglot_original_require' So I tried a few things... I did a gem update on webrat, that didn't work. I removed all previous versions of cucumber by doing gem uninstall cucumber then selecting past versions. Same with webrat. No luck. What am I doing wrong?

• Like Html.RenderAction() but without reinstantiating the controller object

  I like to use the RenderAction extension method on the HtmlHelper object to render sidebars and the like in pages, as it allows me to keep the data access code for each such part in separate methods on the controller. Using an abstract controller base, I can define a default "sidebar strategy", which can then be refined by overriding the method in a concrete controller, when needed. The only "problem" I have with this approach, is that the RenderAction is built in a way where it always creates a news instance of the controller class, even when rendering actions from the controller already in action. Some of my controllers does some data lookup in their Initialize method, and using the RenderAction method in the view causes this to occur several times in the same request. Is there some alternative to RenderAction which will reuse the controller object if the action method to be invoked is on the same controller class as the "parent" action?

• Change My.Settings ConnectionString in runtime?

  I have a ClickOnce deployment where i have a INI-settings file on the network file with "global" settings that is supposed to affect the program on all client computers. The problem i have is that i whant to have the Database connectionString stored in this INI file and have it read and stored in the My.Settings ConnectionString at program startup. How do i do this? The ConnectionString setting is Application scoped and therefore Read-Only, if i try to set it by My.Settings("ConnectionString") = "Source=server;Initial Catalog=database;Integrated Security=True" I get a runtime error: An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: The type initializer for 'DB_lib.DB_LINQ' threw an exception. [EDIT] I got rid of the error by using the My.Settings("ConnectionString") = "Source=server;Initial Catalog=database;Integrated Security=True" in another place then the the eventtriggerd settingsLoaded method i created.. The problem is that even though the connectionstring semes to be the right, the program still connects to the "default" database that is typed in to the app.config file??

• Why can I not register a PropertyEditor for String in Spring MVC?

  I'm using Spring 3.0.3. I've enabled the default ConversionService by adding this line to my Spring configuration XML. <mvc:annotation-driven/> I'm also using custom PropertyEditor's for certain data types, so I've registered them for corresponding data types like the following and they work fine. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(Date.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); I have a custom tag library that extends Spring's Form tag library, and I can acess these PropertyEditor's through getPropertyEditor() of AbstractDataBoundFormElementTag. What I don't understand is that I can't register a custom PropertyEditor for String for some reason. The following wouldn't work. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(String.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); When I do getPropertyEditor(), it always returns a ConvertingPropertyEditorAdapter, instead of MyPropertyEditor. Is this a bug? EDIT: I realized that I didn't do some stuff right. Spring works just fine.

  Hello, I'm tidying up some of my code with the correct scope on some methods and attributes (I have two classes and at the moment I have a number which I just declared as public to get working, but I feel I should look into this and make private where possible, for better practice) When working in eclipse it's suggested on one method, when i change it private from public, that I can fix it by dropping off the scope so the method just says "static void" instead of public/private static void. Is this a better scenario to have nothing, rather than private or public - or is the default scope equivelant to public anyway ? Thanks

  So there are 8 categories that may be associated to each order, but not necessarily all of them. So i was going to build a list box that allowed the user to double click each of the category they wish to associate when they have an "Order Detail" form opened up (unbound form that has hidden text boxes with all needed ID numbers). I want to have another empty text box right beside it that will allow me to append the selections (up to 8) so the user can see that they have been added. So one list box with the default choices, and when a choice is double clicked, it adds that choice to the second list box to see the tally so to speak. What do I mean: I have a class foo::bar::bee defined in bee.hpp in following directory structure: foo foo/bar foo/bar/bee.hpp Doxygen, when it documents foo::bar::bee class tells that you need to include <bee.hpp>, but for my software I need <foo/bar/bee.hpp> How can I cause Doxygen to do this? Notes: FULL_PATH_NAMES is already set to default YES I do not want to provide include header explicitly for each class, because there too many of them. I want Doxygen to do this automatically.   I might just be using the wrong keywords on Google, but what I have in mind is: -------------------------------- | What is your mailbox? | | | | [ ]@mail.example.org | | | | [OK] [Cancel] | -------------------------------- The idea being that the input field is followed right behind by the mail server name, to help avoid instances where: If I don't make it follow right behind, the user puts in the whole thing, If I default it to "[email protected]" they delete the server name. In either case, it's not too big a deal, as I will know that if the returned value does have the server, to remove it and if doesn't, I know what server it belongs to, but I think this visual aid will be a better user experience and lower the amount of validation worries I tend to get.

Desire output should be as least shows which lines are having problems, and then fix some trivial error automatically, like fill in default value for NULL columns, automatically correct datetime format. I know using Python can build such a script. But just wonder what's the popular way to do this. Thanks.

• mvc2 validation problem (ambiguous reference between model and models)

  I followed instructions for mvc validation but I can't manage to solve this problem.... This is linq to sql model: I set Entity namespace to be CMS.Model If I try to declare partial class Article in Portal.Models namespace: public partial class Article { .... } Then, after using Article article somewhere in code I get following error: 'Article' is an ambiguous reference between 'Portal.Models.Article' and 'CMS.Model.Article' Portal is project name and CMS is area.... I followed these instructions I aslo created NerdDinner from scratch and in that example validation works. I can't figure out what am I doing wrong... someone noticed my mistake? Is it related with giving name to Entity namespace (in tutorial they used default one) Thanks in advance! PS I'd like to note that I'm c# newbie so I'm not really familiar with these partial classes

• Convert File System Website to IIS Website

  We recently migrated from VS 2008 to VS 2010. The migration went fine, except for our web project. Before, in VS 2008, the site showed up as http://localhost/Website. Now, it appears as C:...\Website. It appears that when we did the migration, VS started to treat it as a file system website. I've tried removing the existing site and re-adding it as an existing website, but it still displays it as C:...\Website. Is there any way to convert it back to show it as a http://localhost/website, and run through IIS, as opposed to the default ASP.NET Development Server?

• Is it more efficient to always run a delete query, or to check if that information exists first

  Ok this is going to seem like a dumb question to experienced developers, but questions like this bother me until I ask them. So... is it more efficient to always run a delete query by default whether an entry exists or not, for example to delete a user name after a certain period of time (DELETE * from table where username=user), or should you check if that entry exists first using a select query and mysql_num_rows. What uses more processor on the server side? Obviously one approach contains more code, but I was wondering if certain mysql operations used a lot more cpu than others.
