  • Creating an Application to Save Arbitrary Application State

    See this SuperUser question. To summarize, VM software lets you save state of arbitrary applications (by saving the whole VM image). Would it be possible to write some software for Windows that allows you to save and reload arbitrary application state? If so (and presumably so), what would it entail? I would be looking to implement this, if possible, in a high-level language like C#. I presume if I used something else, I would need to dump memory registers (or maybe dump the entire application memory block) to a file somewhere and load it back somewhere to refresh state. So how do I build this thing?

  • Compile Qt Project To Run On A Linux System

    I have a Qt project. It uses the cross platform libraries SDL, OpenGL and FLTK. I want to be able to compile the project so that it can run on a Linux computer. I'm looking at a bunch of articles I have seen so far two ways to do this. Use a cross compiler, which seems to me a rather complicated thing to setup and compile with, or, the other options, is to compile the project simply on a Linux computer, simply the Linux version of Qt creator/SDK. My question is, If I have a Qt project that uses only cross platform libraries, then is creating a Windows version easy as compiling it in Qt/Windows, and creating the Linux version as easy as doing it in Qt/Linux? PS. Please don't ask/complain about why I didn't just try to see if it works myself, I don't have any Linux OS's installed on my computer right now, and I don't want to risk going into the trouble of installing a whole new OS just to have it not work in the end.

    I want to update the Python build on my Linux box, but the only way I know how to do it is uninstalling the current version and installing the new one. My system is already up to date (I updated yesterday). I wanted to know if there is a way to update a specific program from the command line, like sudo apt-get update <program-name>. I know this command doesn't exist, but I'm hoping something equivalent does.

  • C# TabControl - is it possible to "disable" individual TabPages?

    Is it somehow possible to disable one (or more) tabs of tab control? At some point I need to make user stay on the active tab and prevent him from leaving... I know I can disable the whole TabControl component, but that disables also all components on active tab... I also tried to use the Selecting method of TabControl: private void TabControl_Selecting(object sender, TabControlCancelEventArgs e) { e.Cancel = PreventTabSwitch; } This works, prevents user from switching (if PreventTabSwitch==true), but since all tabs look active and just don't react it's confusing... There is no Enabled property for individual tab pages, so I don't know what else to do... Thanks a lot for in advance for all tips.

I have definitely ticked the regular expression box What am I doing wrong EDIT: I am trying to find the start of a new line - In textpad it is find '^' and ensure reg ex is enabled.   • automatically downloading and installing an exe file

    I need to automate the process of downloading and installing an exe file abc.exe from say 'http://10.34.45.21:8080/cruisecontrol/artifacts/xxx_trunk_nightly_build/xxx/test/' I mean now i have to manually goto ''http://10.34.45.21:8080/cruisecontrol' then click on each folder before i finally click on the abc.exe file. Then it downloads the exe on my machine. Then i have to double click on the exe to install it. I want to automate this whole process such that when i run the script it will automatically download the exe file and install it. Is it possible to do this using php? I am very much a beginner. Any help will be of use.

  • How to Create an Array from a Single Variable and Form Multiple Foreach Loops?

    I'm fairly proficient in HTML/CSS, but very new when it comes to the likes of PHP and Javascript. I've jumped headfirst into coding Wordpress shortcodes (basically php functions), and so far, through trial and error and seemingly endless browser refreshes, I've been able to figure everything out. I just hit a huge wall though, hence why I'm here. Basically, I'm trying to give an attribute a list of values like: attr="23, 95, 136, ect" The function then needs to take that attribute variable and create an array with it: $arr = array($attr); To me that seems as if it would work, but the array takes the whole list as one value instead. After doing that I want to create a foreach loop that parses each number from the list, possibly through yet another foreach loop if possible, and returns a section of code for each one, and I'm not quite sure how to pull that off either. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • Function chaining depending on boolean result

    This is just an efficiency question really.. I'm interested to know if there is a more efficient or logical way that people use to handle this sort of scenario. In my asp.net application I am running a script to generate a new project my code at the top level looks like this: Dim ok As Boolean = True ok = createFolderStructure() If ok Then ok = createMDB() If ok Then ok = createProjectConfig() If ok Then ok = updateCompanyConfig() I create a boolean and each function returns a boolean result, the next function in this chain will only run if the previous one was successful. I do this because an asp.net application will continue to run through the page life cycle unless there is an unhandled exception and I don't want my whole application to be screwed up if something in the chain goes wrong (there is a lot of copying and deleting of files etc.. in this example). I was just wondering how other people handle this scenario? the vb.net single line if statement is quite succinct but I'm wondering if there is a better way?

  • ASP.NET, Visual Studio and Subversion - how to integrate?

    I use AnkhSVN and Visual Studio 2005 and 2008. Now, one thing that bugs me is that Ankh does not really work with ASP.NET sites. I cannot add them properly to a repository and it won't detect changes, especially because the site is on a remote server accessed through Frontpage Extensions (File = Open Site). What are the alternatives? Does a better plug-in exist? Manually downloading the files through FTP and using TortoiseSVN or svn.exe is not really the level of integration I want :) I want to stay within the Visual Studio IDE when possible. Also, I do not control the remote Server, so I can not install anything on it, which means the whole change tracking/comparison to repository has to be done on my machine.

But there some problem with js I guess. whats wrong here..??

  • Removing an object in a child collection in MongoDB

    I've got a collection of content. Said collection has a collection of responses as such Content : [{ 'id' : '1234', 'Responses' : [{ 'id' : '12345' } etc. Now, I want to remove response 12345, but I don't want to remove all of the responses. I can't seem to find the command to do so. I'm getting the impression that the correct action is to grab the object, rebuild the Responses without the one I want removed, and then save the Content object as a whole. Provided there are many responses, this seems like a bad practice to have to load the entire object that way.

    I found a tutorial for developing multi-level drop down menu here.Its demo can be checked at www.kriesi.at/wp-content/extra_data/suckerfish_tutorial/step4.html#. I would like to enhance it to support cross-frames . It means, the horizontal part of the whole menu (html,css,javascript etc..in demo page) will exist in the upper frame and the rest will be put in the lower frame. Edit: There will be only one menu item in the horizontal part. It will be still ok if I can click that menu_item rather than mouse-hovering to show the lower part of the menu .     I am making a simple online application. I have a navigation bar with a few buttons and one "div" into which all the new contents will be loaded dynamically i.e. when I click "About", it will load the page parts into the "div" without reloading the whole page with .load() function. The problem is: what if I need to give a link to the Documents section of my web site, or the user wants to store this kind of link, the url is not rewritten when browsing my site. when the user stores the default link it will always link him to the default "Home" part. How can I rewrite the URL and what is the most correct way to do this?

    Please look in to the picture,here am trying to open(with vi editor) my server console log file(around 100MB) and it takes more than two minutes to open with so many special characters.after deleting the first line (means typing "dd")then i can easily view the file and size of the file is also reduced very much.My server OS is RHEL 5.4 and jboss is running in to it.   • Why use hosts file?

    My company has a staging site and we access it by a url like this: www.example.com Until today I did not realise that I had a line in my hosts file which said: 192.0.2.0 www.example.com (the ip is fake here) now when I try to access this site through ip , I cannot get access.. why is this the case? We even own the domain we are using so I do not see the reason why we are using a hosts file and more over, why I cannot access the site through simple IP (by the way, we are using an internal IP)

    Hello, I was able to get the navigation dropdown to show the letters in a different color from the background (white in this case) in Chrome browser. But when I view the same page in IE or FF, the whole background is just all green.   • Keeping track of dirty blocks on a block device

    I'm looking for a way to keep track of what blocks on a block device are modified after a point in time. How I eventually want to use this for is to keep two 2TB disks in sync, one which only comes online (connected through USB) once a month. Without knowing what blocks have been modified, I have to go through the whole 2TB every time. I'm using a recent GNU/Linux OS and have C and Python experience. I'm hoping to avoid writing kernel level code as I don't have any experience in that area whatsoever. My current theory is that there should be some hooks somewhere where my code can get called when a disk flush is performed. Any ideas?
