• Handling log-in / log-out via Objective-c

  Having a real problem with this one...Tried using cookies to store variables, etc. but no luck. Writing an iPhone app where the User has to log in. There is an HTTPS call to get the person's userid, which is used practically everywhere else in the app, so that either has to be stored in a global variable or a cookie (for sending messages to other users, etc.) I tried the cookie route, but am having great difficulty storing (and retriving) a user ID in a cookie. The User should be able to then close out of the app and then reboot it and have the app retain their User ID as well, so I'm not sure global variables are necessarily the solution to this. Are there any best practices or suggestions?

• Confused with the Isolated Storage with Multiple Assemblies Access

  I googled and searched a lot, but I got no luck. I have a WindowsFormsApplication.exe and ConsoleApplication.exe. I want both of them to access to the same IsolatedStorage, is it possible? I tried using this in ConsoleApplication.exe: IsolatedStorageFile isoStore = IsolatedStorageFile.GetMachineStoreForApplication(); but I got: IsolatedStorageException: Unable to determine application identity of the caller. How can I fix this? Or can I use this way? P.S.: This is NOT a ClickOnce app.

• MySQL - ERROR 1045 - Access denied

  In some way I have managed to get this error when I try to access into MySQL via the command line: [root@localhost ~]# mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I have tried resetting the password without any luck using this HowTo. I have uninstalled mysql completley and reinstalled but I still get asked for a password. I have no idea why this is the case! Can someone please help me get a default install of MySQL. Environment Fedora Core 10, Full Root Access, Apache and PHP installed Thank you for any help!! EDIT To all those that would like to save themselves a few hours of "blood coughing" - when you uninstall MySQl completely delete everything that is left behind. If you don't do this, it will never be a FRESH install.

When you move your mouse over there small text shows up that says: Napredna pretraga Now, for some reason those letters change color to like yellow for very short period of time in ff 3.5 and to some strange color in safari 4.0.2 for win. In ie8, opera and chrome it works just the way it should, white letters stay white during the animation. • How do I create a Launcher in Ubuntu 9.1 that runs a shell script?

  Here's my situation: New to Ubuntu (just nstalled 9.10 Karmic Koala 64 bit) Purpose: to easily run PyCharm without too much typing (ie. cd... ./pycharm.sh) Want to create desktop Launcher instead of terminal & typing (without resorting to the "Run in Terminal" option) Tried to create Launcher to executes .sh script in Document directory Right-clicked Desktop Create Launcher a. Type == Application; Browse [insert absolute path to .sh script]; no luck b. Type == Application in Terminal; Browse ...ditto I'm open to any other alternatives that involve as little typing as possible. I would like to just start Ubuntu, click Launcher icons, and have terminals spring to life, running the intended scripts. Crazy? No. Lazy? Probably. Productive? Hopefully :)

  According to various documents and discussions this used to be possible: you needed a block something like this in your script: try tell me to «event ascrgdut» end try tell me to doTheFunkyNewThing The event corresponds to hidden event with the undocumented C constant kUpdateAEUT (see here for the declaration of the constant) which should force the scripting additions to be reloaded. I've written a scripting addition and played around with this method of getting it to load but I have had no luck at all. I can only make it load by starting my script after the extension has been installed. Does anyone know if there is a way to make this work? Has this functionality been disabled in more recent OS X releases? I'm using OS X 10.6.2 FWIW.

• How does one capture H.323 voice traffic on a VOIP network?

  What I am trying to do is capture the WAV data of a phone conversation on a VOIP network using SharpPCap/PCap.Net. We are using the H.323 recommendation and my understanding is that voice data is located in the RTP packets. However, there is no way to heuristically determine if a UDP packet is a RTP packet, so we have to do more work before we can capture the data. The H.323 recommendation apparently uses a lot of traffic on specific TCP ports to negotiate the call before the WAV data is sent via RTP. However, I am having very little luck determining what data is actually sent on those TCP ports, when it is sent, what the packets look like, how to handle it, etc. If anyone has any information on how to go about this I'd really appreciate it. My Google-Fu seems to be failing me on this one.

  I'm trying to edit the header.tpl of an opencart website that uses vqmod - I need to add some more info (text) to each menu link, so basically edit the header file. I've looked into the vqmod manager and files but I can't seem to get it right. Unfortunately, whenever I try to edit the header file, the site breaks -I've tried editing the cached vqmod files as well, no luck with that. Is there a way to reset the vqmod / disable it, then edit the header.tpl and enable vqmod again? Do I need to install a new theme and start from scratch ? Thanks heaps!

  Hi, I am trying to publish to a users stream when they click a share button in my flash app that i have living in a tab on a fan fan. I basically have my swf embedded on a page that has a java script function that calls the facebook share dialogue. There are to be honest huge. And whenever I get stuck, it takes a long time for me to solve it (searching and searching in google and after spending sometime hours I may get the solution). Henceforth, I think it is better to know if not all astleast some of the terms and their usage and what they means. It would be great help if anyone can point such a link. • Include Files using Wildcard into a folder in Visual Studio

  I am using <ItemGroup> <EmbeddedResource Include="..\..\resources\hbm\*.hbm.xml" /> </ItemGroup> to include a bunch of xml files into my C# project. Works fine. But, I don't want them in the "root level" of my project, I would rather see them in a subfolder in my project. For example, this file is included into a Mapping folder in Visual Studio: <ItemGroup> <EmbeddedResource Include="Mapping\User.hbm.xml" /> </ItemGroup> That's what I want for my *.hbm.xml files. I can't figure out how to do it and still keep my wildcard *.hbm.xml part and also keep the actual files in a different directory. I've looked at MSDN's doc on MSBUILD and items, but no luck.

  This is really just a syntax question. I have a PHP script that parses my WordPress feed and returns the latest posts. I also want my script to parse the # of comments, but the WordPress feed XML object for number of comments has a colon in it (slash:comments). It causes the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ':' in ... on line ... I have tried each of the following without luck: $xml->slash:comments $comments = 'slash:comments' $xml->$comments $xml->slash.':'.comments $xml->{slash:comments} $xml->{'slash:comments'} How do I parse an object with a colon?

• Restore Emacs Session/Desktop

  I've been searching for how to restore an emacs session, with no luck. I'm looking to restore all previously open buffers, some of which might contain erc, shells, directory listings, files, etc. Every time I open emacs, I spend a considerable amount of time arranging my buffers; splitting them into rows and columns, opening a shell, arranging irc channels. It takes a while to get onto work. I've tried adding the following to my init.el (desktop-save-mode 1) And then using M-x desktop-save. This only seems to restore files that are open, not shells or anything else running within buffers. I've also checked the following questions (sorry, not able to post links yet): Session management in emacs using Desktop library Emacs session / projects / window management Emacs: reopen buffers from last session on startup? And read through: DeskTop and EmacsSession at emacswiki.org/emacs/SessionManagement Here's a screenshot example of my emacs session. A simple answer would be to just focus on real work :P

At the end of the game, the player with the highest number wins. Now, let's say I'm a cheater. I want to write the game so player #1 (which will be me) has a probability of 90% to get six, and 2% to get each of the rest numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). • Address Book is returning old values

  Hi there, I am having a problem with the AddressBook framework. It all seems to be stemming from ABCopyRecordForUniqueId returning a record with old data. Example: I run up the program below in one terminal window - it shows the current data. I make a change through the address book UI - my program continues to show old data. I run up another instance of the same program in a new terminal window - it shows the updated data.   I'm writing a utility that takes in a .resx file and creates a javascript object containing properties for all the name/value pairs in the .resx file. This is all well and good, until one of the values in the .resx is This dealer accepts electronic orders. /r/nClick to order {0} from this dealer. I'm adding the name/value pairs to the js object like this: streamWriter.Write(string.Format("\n{0} : \"{1}\"", kvp.Key, kvp.Value)); When kvp.Value = "This dealer accepts electronic orders./r/nClick to order {0} from this dealer." This causes StreamWriter.Write() to actually place a newline in between 'orders.' and 'Click', which naturally screws up my javascript output. I've tried different things with @ and without using string.Format, but I've had no luck. Any suggestions?

• Compiler/Linking Error: Freedup

  I've been trying to compile a program for hardlinking duplicate files called freedup. I did try to email the author/maintainer of the program, but it's been a long time and I haven't heard anything back from him. I'm trying to compile the program from a cygwin environment using the latest stable versions of gcc (3.4.4-999) and make (3.81-2). I've tried deleting all the object files and running make, but I always get the following error: freedup.o: In function 'main': /home/[user]/freedup-1.5/freedup.c:1791: undefined reference to '_hashed' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: * * * [freedup] Error 1 I did take a look at the source code and saw that the "hashed" function is an inline function (which I didn't think had to be declared outside of the source file... but that's just what I gathered from some preliminary googling). If anyone would be kind enough to try compiling this program in a windows environment and has any luck, I'd really appreciate it. • focus on page scroll navigation when using iPad

  I've used Page Scroller Lite http://pagescroller.com to set up a single-page site at http://www.thestitchshop.co.uk There seems to be an issue that scolling works only once when clicking on a menu item. It will only work again after one touched scrolls the page 'manually' by sliding the finger across the page. Apparently, the issue is that the content gets the focus after the scroll and tapping on navigation then actually taps behind it. I've tried contacting the author of pagecroller, but no luck. So, how do I fix it? I don't have any JS knowledge, so I need a little more help along the way. Many thanks. • Slow PDF upload for Confluence

  We run a site that we host that uses the Atlassian Confluence. The site works great and is being used now. But there is one thing. It seems like when pdf and gifs are uploaded the upload speed will be slower. But the smaller files will upload fine. Has anyone else having an issue with uploading pdf's into confluence? I am trying to use fiddler to track the speed but am not having luck with that. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

• Get C# Templates For VS 2008 Shell

  I've got VS 2008 Shell Integrated mode; I've got F# 2.0 on that installation. Till now this has worked fine for me because I've been hacking at F# code. Now though, I want to install Intellifactory's WebSharper. It looks like the Intellifactory templates assume that C# templates will be available because while it will create the F# portion of the solution it will not create the Web project in the solution with the complaint A problem was encountered creating the sub project 'Web Application'. The template specified cannot be found. Is there any place where I can get the C# stuff to add to this instance of VS 2008 Shell? Apologies in advance if this is a dup question but I've googled without much luck and I don't seem to find this here either. I've seen that about devenv /installvstemplates but that also fails with a message about needing to elevate privileges (which is odd since I try it under an admin user).

• How to add a field from a 2nd form?

  Hi all. I'm modifying an existing Lotus view to include a field from another form. I first appended a new column and set it to the desired field. However, after I refreshed, the new column was blank even though I know it has data. I then updated the View Selection formula from: SELECT Form = "A" & StatusIndex < "06" to: SELECT (Form = "A"| Form = "B") & StatusIndex < "06" Still no luck. The view is refreshing successfully, but the new field is still blank. What else is there to add this new column to this view? This is my first time experimenting with Lotus, so if I seem to be missing some major concept, I probably am.
