  • XNA Music mixing real-time

    - by Adam L. S.
I've created a "format" to store segments of music (prelude part, repeated part, ending part) and time information for these segments (offset, scored length) so I can mix it up in real-time as if it were one piece of music, while repeating the repeated part (optionally) indefinitely. This way, the segments can store decay where the next segment is played, while the previous one is finished. (I've created a player for this in Java, and used the Clip class.) I wanted this format, so I can provide a finite length music (for a jukebox feature), while I play infinite length music in-games. However, when I wanted to code a class in XNA that manages this "format" I've noticed, that there is no obvious way to play "Songs" simultaneously/overlapped. How can I do this/what is the best practice, not leaving the XNA framework? (I don't want to create infinite play-lists.)

  • Nested ng repeat not working

    - by Rodrigo Fonseca
    Ok, i've two ng-repeat working here, the first(board in boards) is working good, no problem, but the second(task in tasks), when i try to get "{{task.title}}" i don't get anything but i can display all the style from it... here is my model: $scope.tasks = [{boardIndex: 0, title: "test"}, {boardIndex: 1, title: "test2"}]; Here is my code(it's in jade, ok?) section(data-ng-repeat="board in boards", ng-cloak) .board_header div(data-ng-controller="AddTaskBtnController") i.add_task_btn.fa.fa-plus-square-o.fa-2x(ng-click='setSelected(board.id)', ng-class="{icon_add_hover: isSelected(board.id)}") h2(data-ng-bind="board.title") .content_board .task(data-ng-repeat="task in tasks", data-ng-if="task.boardIndex == board.id", data-ng-controller='TaskController', data-ng-hide='modeTask', data-ng-init='setTaskId()') .user_icon_task i.fa.fa-user.fa-3x.icon-user-not-selected .quest_task .puzzle_task(data-ng-hide='modeTask') i.fa.fa-check-circle-o.fa-lg h2 {{task.title}} ul.icons_details_task_wrapper li i.fa.fa-check-circle-o span.icon_counter li.pull_left i.fa.fa-puzzle-piece span.icon_counter ul.task_details_wrapper li.task_priority(data-ng-show='goal.selectedDrawAttention', data-ng-click='toggleSelected()', data-ng-class='{draw_attention_selected: goal.selectedDrawAttention }', style='cursor: inherit;') i.fa.fa-eye li.task_priority i.fa .task_time_ago span(am-time-ago='message.time')

  • fade in all divs of a page. once the content of the divs is loaded

    - by daniel
    I want all the divs on my page to fade in after the content is loaded. The code below loads in all imgs in the #div container. Which is great. but it does not load in images that are used as div background images loaded through the css file. So i think the most effective way is to create a piece of code that fades in all the divs on the page after the content ie: images and text has loaded. Is there A way to do this. Cheers. $(document).ready(function() { $('#container img').fadeIn(4000); // and tell pending images to do the same, once they've finished loading: $('#container img').load(function () { $(this).fadeIn(4000); }); });

  • Does the Frontier Kernel have a future?

    - by pbreitenbach
Whatever you think about Dave Winer, Frontier is an incredible piece of software. It includes quite a few advances that have yet to be surpassed: the object database, the database viewer, the scripting environment, the hierarchical-including website generation scheme, the elegant scripting language, the mixing of scripts and compilation, rapid prototyping, built in web server, simple debugger, cross-platform, simple UI, etc. My question: Dave turned Frontier over to open source and there is a Frontier Kernel project. However it is fairly quiet. Does Frontier have a future from here?

  • Check if song is buffering in AS3

    - by SXMC
I have the following piece of code: var song:Sound; var sndChannel:SoundChannel; var context:SoundLoaderContext = new SoundLoaderContext(2000); function songLoad():void { song.load(new URLRequest(songs[selected]),context); sndChannel = song.play(); } Now I want to be able to check if the song is buffering or not. Is there a way to do this? Or should I approach it differently? Thanks in advance!

  • Is there any kind of standard for 8086 multiprocessing?

    - by Earlz
Back when I made an 8086 emulator I noticed that there was the LOCK prefix intended for synchonization in a multiprocessor environment. Yet the only multitasking I know of for the x86 arch. involves use of the APIC which didn't come around until either the Pentiums or 486s. Was there any kind of standard for 8086 multitasking or was it done by some manufacturer specific extensions to the instruction set and/or special ports? By standard, I mean things like: How do you separate the 2 processors if they both use the same memory? This is impossible without some kind of way to make each processor execute a different piece of code. (or cause an interrupt on only one processor)

  • Mobile web on nokia devices not displaying centain elements

    - by Jan de Jager
So i have a site which is rendered with our in-house portal engine. It resizes images and adjusts style-sheets automatically in real-time. Issue is that some html elements are inexplicably disappearing due to what only can be described as HTML compatibility. But the problem is not consistent. And only seems to be an issue on some nokia devices. I have tried to install the Nokia Mobile Browser Emulator... but its the worst piece of software i have seen in my life... after 4 hours of installing and uninstalling different versions of JRE, i still can't get it to install. EDIT: Problem now residing at http://wiseguy.mobi/?PageID=657

  • Dynamic resize with MPlayer and PyGTK

    - by alex
Hi everyone; I've wrote a piece of code in python and pygtk for an embeded mplayer in a gui. I assume I use GtkSocket and the slave mode of mplayer with the -wid option. But I've got an issue, when the size of my GTK window is smaller than my stream, the stream appears to be cropped. And when the size of my window is bigger than my stream, the stream appear centred inside the widget which embed MPlayer. (a gtk.Frame but I've also try with a gtk.DrawingArea) I would like to know how I can get my stream resize dynamically depending on the window's size. I don't want to use Glade or any GUI builder. Thanks in advance for any help, and please excuse my poor english.

  • visual studio 2002: c# threading question

    - by dotnet-practitioner
Hi, I have a piece of code where I send a file content over tcp/ip channel. There are times when this connection hangs causing entire application to freeze. Is there a way for my main thread to spawn a worker thread and monitor that worker thread. If worker thread succeeds, well and good. If it hangs , the main thread could log error message and continue. How can I simulate in my test code that a worker thread is hanging. please let me know what could the code look like. I am using C# Visual studio 2002.

  • Is Lightweight Code Generation (LCG) dead?

    - by Greg Beech
In the .NET 2.0-3.5 frameworks, LCG (aka the DynamicMethod class) was a decent way to emit lightweight methods at runtime when no class structure was needed to support them. In .NET 4.0, expression trees now support statements and blocks, and as such appear to provide sufficient functionality to build just about any functionality you could require from such a method, and can be constructed in a much easier and safer way than directly emitting CIL op-codes. (This statement is borne from today's experimentation of converting some of our most complex LCG code to use expression tree building and compilation instead.) So is there any reason why one would use LCG in any new code? Is there anything it can do that expression trees cannot? Or is it now a 'dead' piece of functionality?

  • Efficient storage/retrieval method for replayable comet style applications (Google Wave, Etherpad)

    - by Gareth Simpson
I am considering a web application that would have the same kind of multi user, automatic saving, infinite undo / replay capabilities that you see in Google Wave and Etherpad (albeit on a drastically smaller scale and userbase). Before I go away and reinvent the wheel, is this something that has already been addressed as either a piece of technology or library, or even just a design pattern. I know this isn't necessarily the best Stack Overflow question as there is probably not a "right" answer, but my Google-fu has failed me and I'd just like a reading list! Ordinarily I would be developing under python/django but this is not a firm requirement just a preference :)

  • C# Compiler should give warning but doesn't?

    - by Cristi Diaconescu
    Someone on my team tried fixing a 'variable not used' warning in an empty catch clause. try { ... } catch (Exception ex) { } - gives a warning about ex not being used. So far, so good. The fix was something like this: try { ... } catch (Exception ex) { string s = ex.Message; } Seeing this, I thought "Just great, so now the compiler will complain about s not being used." But it doesn't! There are no warnings on that piece of code and I can't figure out why. Any ideas? PS. I know catch-all clauses that mute exceptions are a bad thing, but that's a different topic. I also know the initial warning is better removed by doing something like this, that's not the point either. try { ... } catch (Exception) { } or try { ... } catch { }

  • Detailed change history of .NET framework versions?

    - by gehho
I am looking for a detailed change history (including bugfixes) of all .NET framework versions, especially the changes between 2.0 and 3.5 SP1. I know that something like that exists for v2.0 and v1.1, and for v4.0. However, I could not find a history for v3.0 and v3.5/SP1. Background: (slightly edited) We are having issues somewhere between deserialization of some XML data (using XmlReader) and the display of the data in the UI. These problems appear when we use .NET 3.5 SP1, but we did not have them in v2.0. Now, I would like to know if this is related to some change/bugfix in the framework, or if this is related to some other difference. Unfortunately, we do not have the source code of that piece of software, and most of the software is written using native C++/MFC, except for the deserialization part which is .NET.

  • XNA or C# Pop-up progress bar for the LoadContent() method

    - by Warlax
Hey people, We wrote a small game using Microsoft's XNA Game Studio 3.1. The LoadContent() takes a long time because, other than loading models, and config files, we're also running some one-time (per run) terrain analysis. We are not C# or XNA programmers... we're Java programmers, and want to be able to give the user some feedback that the system is loading. Preferably, this will be through a simple pop-up with a progress bar that will say something simple like "loading please wait". The progress bar doesn't have to be a 0 to 1 progress bar, it can instead be one of those 'back and forth' progress bars. I was hoping for some quick copy-paste ready code to just do that - as it is not a central piece of our project, nor do we have a need to delve into too much documentation. I appreciate you time, effort, and possible donation. Thanks.

  • Sql query: use where in or foreach?

    - by phenevo
Hi, I'm using query, where the piece is: ...where code in ('va1','var2'...') I have about 50k of this codes. It was working when I has 30k codes, but know I get: The query processor ran out of internal resources and could not produce a query plan. This is a rare event and only expected for extremely complex queries or queries that reference a very large number of tables or partition I think that problem is related with IN... So now I'm planning use foreach(string code in codes) ...where code =code Is it good Idea ??

  • Ideas for building vulnerabilities into your site?

    - by Jaco Pretorius
I'm trying to create a programming challenge that would require developers to hack into the MVC site I create. The idea is obviously to teach them about preventing these types of attacks. The current idea I have is to build multiple vulnerabilities into the site - but the second vulnerability would require the first to be completed, etc. So I was thinking the first could be a sql injection attack, the second would require a modified GET request, etc. Exploiting the final vulnerability would reveal a specific piece of information which is proof that you have completed the entire challenge. This will not be deployed on a public site - it's simply a learning tool for developers at my company. I'm not looking for MVC-specific vulnerabilities - I'm simply using MVC because it allows me to work with the 'raw' HTML. Any ideas on the different vulnerabilities I can use?

  • Approaches to wrapping access to functionality in .NET MVC?

    - by Kevin
What are some different solutions to wrapping access to functionality within a .NET MVC application? For example, I have six tabs that represent different areas of the application and within area 1, there is the ability to add, edit, upload, whatever. I need a central way to say: Build some dictionary of what the user can do Wrap tabs, buttons, links, etc, validate the user can access this piece of functionality and show/hide appropriately. I know I can restrict access to actions via action filters and roles, but what about from the UI? Any help would be appreciated. I am sure I am not the only one who has needed to do this, thanks!

  • Faster way to clone.

    - by AngryHacker
I am trying to optimize a piece of code that clones an object: #region ICloneable public object Clone() { MemoryStream buffer = new MemoryStream(); BinaryFormatter formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); formatter.Serialize(buffer, this); // takes 3.2 seconds buffer.Position = 0; return formatter.Deserialize(buffer); // takes 2.1 seconds } #endregion Pretty standard stuff. The problem is that the object is pretty beefy and it takes 5.4 seconds (according ANTS Profiler - I am sure there is the profiler overhead, but still). Is there a better and faster way to clone?

  • Does malloc() allocate a contiguous block of memory?

    - by user66854
I have a piece of code written by a very old school programmer :-) . it goes something like this typedef struct ts_request { ts_request_buffer_header_def header; char package[1]; } ts_request_def; ts_request_buffer_def* request_buffer = malloc(sizeof(ts_request_def) + (2 * 1024 * 1024)); the programmer basically is working on a buffer overflow concept. I know the code looks dodgy. so my questions are: Does malloc always allocate contiguous block of memory ?. because in this code if the blocks are not contiguous , the code will fail big time Doing free(request_buffer) , will it free all the bytes allocated by malloc i.e sizeof(ts_request_def) + (2 * 1024 * 1024), or only the bytes of the size of the structure sizeof(ts_request_def) Do you see any evident problems with this approach , i need to discuss this with my boss and would like to point out any loopholes with this approach

  • Selecting an area from displayed image using CImg library

    - by sravan
hi all, i use CImg for my image processing work. I had written a small piece of code which is follows: #include "../CImg.h" #include <iostream> using namespace std; using namespace cimg_library; int main(int argc, char**argv) { CImg<int> img(argv[1]); CImgDisplay disp; disp.assign(img); while(!disp.is_closed) disp.wait(); return 0; } Now i want to select an area from the displayed image. Can some one tell me how to select an area from displayed image and store the selected pixels, and display the selected region in different display window. If some one can provide code, it will be of great help to me. Thank you all

  • String codification to Twitter

    - by Miguel Ribeiro
I'm developing a program that sends tweets. I have this piece of code: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder("Recomendo "); sb.append(lblName.getText()); sb.append(" no canal "+lblCanal.getText()); sb.append(" no dia "+date[2]+"/"+date[1]+"/"+date[0]); sb.append(" às "+time[0]+"h"+time[1]); byte[] defaultStrBytes = sb.toString().getBytes("ISO-8859-1"); String encodedString = new String(defaultStrBytes, "UTF-8"); But When I send it to tweet I get the "?" symbol or other strage characters because of the accents like "à" . I've also tried with only String encodedString = new String(sb.toString().getBytes(), "UTF-8"); //also tried with ISO-8859-1 but the problem remains...

  • How to parse JSON to receive a Date object in JavaScript?

    - by Piotr Owsiak
I have a following piece of JSON: \/Date(1293034567877)\/ which is a result of this .NET code: var obj = DateTime. Now; var serializer = new System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer(); serializer.Serialize(obj).Dump(); Now the problem I am facing is how to create a Date object from this in JavaScript. All I could find was incredible regex solution (many containing bugs). It is hard to believe there is no elegant solution as this is all in JavaScrip, I mean JavaScript code trying to read JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) which is supposed to be a JavaScript code and at this moment it turns out it's not cause JavaScript cannot do a good job here. I've also seen some eval solutions which I could not make to work (besides being pointed out as security threat). Is there really no way to do it in an elegant way? Similar question with no real answer: How to parse ASP.NET JSON Date format with GWT

  • reading 2 lines from IniFile

    - by Lakkerw
Trying again. On advice, adding the piece of code that I do understand. I am fine with the fact that I have to save 4 bits of information in two lines like so: IniFile.WriteString('TestSection','Name','Country'); IniFile.WriteString('TestSection','City','Street'); My question is more about loading this information back into the form. If in my IniFile I have saved for example the following code [TestSection] John=Uk London=barlystreet Mike=Spain Madrid=eduardostrata Emma=USA New York=1st Avenue Made up information in the IniFile. Added through the code above. Now my question is: How could I load for example, when I type in an edit box Mike, the rest of the belonging information.(Spain, Madrid, eduardostrata).

  • Best way to show a loading screen in an iPhone app?

    - by pkulak
I'm building what is essentially a web app. Every piece of data has to be fetched from a web API. So, every UITableView that I show takes some amount of time to fill with data and I'm struggling to find a good way to show the user a loading screen. Right now I'm popping up an action sheet, but that just seems a bit wrong. Ideally, I'd popup up a blank view over the tableview with "Loading..." on it, then fade it away when the data comes in, but I can't think of a way to do that in 8 places in my app without massive code duplication.
