• Redirect after refreshing update panel

  Hello, Do you think it's possible to refresh an update panel and immediately after redirecting the response (for instance a download) ? I tried this: an invisible button - as an asyncpostbacktrigger a download button - when it is clicked the onclientclick clicks the invisible button the click event on the invisible button refreshes the update panel then the download button click event launches the download (normal postback which launches the download) However for some reason when the invisible button is clicked by the download button client script, it doesn't refresh the update panel.. Do you have an idea why it doesn't work? Or do you have other and cleaner techniques?   Banshee's Amazon MP3 Import extension until recently allowed seamless importing of songs purchased from Amazon MP3. It did this by a)opening .amz files and using them to connect to and download the purchased files from Amazon's servers, and b) using hooks in Banshee's built-in browser to automatically recognize and open the .amz files when clicked on in the browser. However, recently this functionality stopped working. Banshee will display Contacting Server in the lower left hand corner for a little while and then stop. Furthermore opening the Amazon Cloud Player in the Banshee browser or any other browser on a Linux system to manually download the .amz file now results in the message: On Linux systems, Cloud Player only supports downloading songs one at a time. To download your music, deselect all checkboxes, select the checkbox for the song you want to download, then click the "Download" button. How can I get around this and import my purchased music into Banshee as I used to?

  I have two goals set up for my site in Google Analytics: one to download the demo of my software, and the other to buy the full version. I'm having trouble getting statistics on how often the download leads to a purchase. This seems like something the multi-channel funnel is perfect for (as in this question)---I expect that it takes multiple visits for the demo download to convert into an order. However, I can't seem to narrow down the multi-channel funnel data into only those that have one goal followed by another. If it matters, I'm tracking the ordering action as a page view (i.e., someone views the "Thanks for ordering" page) and the demo download as an action (which fires when someone clicks the "download" button).   Hi, I have an assignment about uploading and downloading a file to a server. I managed to do the uploading part using Java Sockets however I am having a hard time doing the downloading part. I should use Range: for downloading parellel. In my request, I should have the Range: header. But I don't understand how I will receive the file with that HTTP GET request. All the examples I have seen was about uploading a file. I already did it. I can upload .exe, image, .pdf, anything and when I download them back (by my browser), there are no errors. Can you help me with the downloading part? Can you give me an example beacuse I really didn't get it.

  Hi, I need to daily run a script that will download a file from a fixed location and save it on my computer with an appropriate filename-YYYYMMDD-HHSS.ext timestamp. I need a historical record of what that file was at that particular time. I can manually check and see what the changes were, so compairson not needed. (I was looking for an online service that would do this for me, but I think a locally running script on my machine would be good enough). Although i do have php on my machine, i would prefer if its a pure windows builtin solution, just in case i have to (likely) adapt it to someone else's system (non-techies). If someone has something like this and can contribute the code - help would be most appreciated!! D

  I would like to be able to run some cleanup functions if and only if the client successfully completes the download of a file I'm serving using Tornado. I installed the firefox throttle tool and had it slow the connection down to dialup speed and installed this handler to generate a bunch of rubbish random text: class CrapHandler(BaseHandler): def get(self, token): crap = ''.join(random.choice(string.ascii_uppercase + string.digits) for x in range(100000)) self.write(crap) print "done" I get the following output from tornado immediately after making the request: done I 100524 19:45:45 web:772] 200 GET /123 (192.168.45.108) 195.10ms The client then plods along downloading for about 20 seconds. I expected that it would print "done" after the client was done. I can't really figure what exactly that means without sample code..

  Hello, I have a html page, and when I click a file link on the page, the file download dialog pops up, and this file dialog locks the page. I mean without selecting one of the choices(Open, Save, Cancel) I can't do anything on the page (which is normal). What I need is if javascript can check whether the page is locked or not. (or whether the file dialog is popped?) p.s. don't say "put an onclick event to the link", because the server may respond very slowly (like 30 seconds after clicking)

• Is it possible to show the download progress of a flash file?

  I know how to setup a preloader and I have that working. But when I debug the flash application and simulate a download, it has a blank background until a few seconds have passed. I know it is "downloading" the swf file and I'm wondering if I can show a progress bar for that, or do I need to have the swf file as small as possible and pre load everything needed and have all assets as a separate file I fetch? I found something with ProgressEvent.PROGRESS but this only loads after the flash file is finished downloading.

  I want to test how users convert from my web page to downloading my iPhone app. Right now the best funnel I figured out was to go through a page that pings Google Analytics and then redirects to an iTunes link. But this funnel only measures conversion for users who got redirected to iTunes and not if they actually downloaded the app once they saw it in iTunes. Anyone knows of a way to measure conversion to the actual download? (I know this is not a coding question but still a problem a app developers would encounter trying to market their app)

  My post title almost states it all: How do I download a file from an FTP server using FTP over SSL using .NET? I have read a bit and there are several 3rd party components to purchase that wrap up this functionality. The deal is, this is a very specefic need and is not going to grow much, so if downloading a file from an FTP server using FTP over SSL can be done using the .NET Framework (i.e. System.Net namespace or something), then that would be best. I don't need a ton of functionality, but if for some reason coding against a secure FTP server is a nightmare or not doable through the .NET Framework BCL that would be nice to know, as a 3rd party .dll might be best.   Hello Friends , have started using Netbeans recently after using Aptana, phpdesigner and Notepad++ . I love Netbeans for it's speed and it has almost everything I want except for the fact that the FTP support is really Bad. To start working on a FTP server , I have to download all the files to my localhost first which is such a waste of bandwidth & if those files are many ie. 1000+ files then it's really annoying . I have tried mounting remote FTP as local filesystem in Windows and then using Netbeans to access it but that does'nt work out too .. If anybody using netbeans a lot for PHP development can guide me on this , then I would be highly obliged.. this trivial problem is keeping me from using this awesome IDE . Thanks & Regards .

• Hudson: where to download file and stop specific builds running ?

  I have a file that is generated inside (hudson server) /var/lib/hudson/jobs/jobtitle/1/out.txt I need to fetch this file, but doing a GET request for http://myhudson:8090/job/jobtitle/1/out.txt doesn't actually locate the file. Basically, I have another box that will grab this file from the hudson server. This box will make the out.txt file available for download. Another challenge is the build number directories. How would I be able to use the hudson API to stop or delete the specific builds running ? I am forced to do iterate through all build numbers to send STOP or DELETE api call in php using wget to do the REST API call. • How to detect when a long download is finished in a web server?

  I need a web server that allows me to remove a file after it has been successfully downloaded once. Is there any way to do this with apache? Is there another web server I can use for this task? I had already looked into Tornado for this purpose, but couldn't find a way to get an event to fire as soon as the download finished. the on_connection_close would only fire when I shut down the server. • How can I convince IE to simply display application/json rather than offer to download it?

  While debugging jQuery apps that use AJAX, I often have the need to see the json that is being returned by the service to the browser. So I'll drop the URL for the JSON data into the address bar. This is nice with ASPNET because in the event of a coding error, I Can see the ASPNET diagostic in the browser: But when the server-side code works correctly and actually returns JSON, IE prompts me to download it, so I can't see the response. Can I get IE to NOT do that, in other words, to just display it as if it were plain text? I know I could do this if I set the Content-Type header to be text/plain. But this is specifically an the context of an ASPNET MVC app, which sets the response automagically when I use JsonResult on one of my action methods. Also I kinda want to keep the appropriate content-type, and not change it just to support debugging efforts.

• When [script] file download fails, how can I tell why?

  My web application sends me diagnostic info from the browser javascript telling me that a [script] tag I've injected has failed to download the associated .js file. I can't reproduce this locally, and there is no particular pattern to which file fails, or what the browser type is. There is a pattern to the geo location of the requests - Mexico and Brazil are always more frequent - so I'm guessing that perhaps the internet in general is just more flaky there, and it is just network issues causing the failures. I'd really like to know for sure, though. Is there any way to determine, from the browser javascript, whether the failure occurred because of an error returned by the server, from a network error, or from a protocol timeout? I don't care if the mechanism is browser-specific, since it seems likely that the same issue is causing the error on all browser types.
