  • Why can't I delete my depot on Perforce?

    I'm just messing around in a local Perforce database, trying to figure out how I can reset Perforce back to a previous state without journaling or deleting and recreating the database files. I have some depots without files, one of them is called "sandbox". I created it with the p4 depot command either from the command line or using the P4Python API (at this point I don't remember which). When I type: p4 depot -d sandbox I get this: Depot sandbox isn't empty. To delete a depot, all file revisions must be removed and all lazy copy references from other depots must be severed. Use 'p4 obliterate' or 'p4 snap' to break file linkages from other depots, then clear this depot with 'p4 obliterate', then retry the deletion. I tried p4 obliterate -y sandbox which just says No records to delete. which is expectable as the depot is empty. Anyway it doesn't change the result from p4 depot -d. There are also no connections from other depots as the error message suggests. Any idea what is happening and is there a foolproof way to force a depot to be deleted without deleting the server files altogether? Ultimately I want to do this automatically from P4Python.

  • Disassemble Asus A2500H

    I have an aged Asus A2500H notebook, with a broken screen and damage to the outside. Since it has a TV-out connection, and is working good otherwise, I have it hooked up to my television as a kind of media-center to play video over LAN. I want to remove the screen as cleanly as possible, but am having trouble opening up the laptop. I've been able to remove the (broken) hinges the screen pivots on. I've also removed any other screws I could spot, but still the casing doesn't come off and seems to be attached by yet more screws I can't access (yet). I've been searching the web for disassemble instructions, I've found some for a number of other brands and models, but not for the Asus A2500H.

  • Ubuntu12.04 crashed while trying to install Ubuntu14.04, no longer have access

    Posting from my laptop, as my Compaq desktop crashed. Not very computer saavy, and not sure what info I should provide...but here's a start: 9 year old desktop Compaq SR 1650NX, AMD Athlon 3500+ probably 1 gB ram (duh....) Was running 12.04....was attempting to upgrade to 14.04, not sure if I interrupted it. Pretty much stuck on (constantly redirected to) a page which says "GNU Grub version 1.99-2"; it offers several choices (as written): Ubuntu, with Linux 3.2.0-67-generic Ubuntu, with Linux 3.2.0-67-generic (recovery mode) Previous Linux versions Memory Test (memtest86+) Memory Test (memtest86+, serial console 115200) But none of the selections seem to be able to get me anywhere (i.e., I click yes, but can't seem to run any commands - not that I know anything useful); I escape from those pages by repeatedly hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL Any help would be appreciated; will provide additional info when requested. Thanx (hopefully), in advance. (If I don't respond immediately, it just means I had to attend to other concerns...will leave page open and check back in as often as possible). FACE

  • Disable linux read and write file cache on partition

    How do i disable the linux file cache on a xfs partition (both read an write). We have a xfs partition over a hardware RAID that stores our RAW HD Video. Most of the shoots are 50-300gb each so the linux cache has a hit-rate of 0.001%. I have tryed the sync option but it still fills up the cache when copinging the files. ( about 30x over per shoot :P ) /etc/fstab: /dev/sdb1 /video xfs sync,noatime,nodiratime,logbufs=8 0 1 Im running debian lenny if it helps.

    I am really disappointed with Logitech. My first cordless wireless mouse was from them and it lasted like 5 years. I returned it under warranty and got a new one now 4-6 month later it is on the verge of breaking again.... You pay like $50 for this mouse and it lasts like 6 months that sad. I just lost faith in Logitech mice as I remember my bro also had a logitech mouse too and it broke after like 6 months.     I get the following error when trying to save my image to SVG (via "Save Copy As"): Transforms are expanded. When I try to load the SVG in another program, all I get is a blank canvas. I ultimately want the path data to feed into RaphaelJS, but the path data that I got by clicking on the Show Code button during the SVG export also yields a blank canvas with RaphaelJS (and I've verified that RaphaelJS is loaded, and it is rendering properly). I'm convinced that this export error in Illustrator is the problem, but I can't figure out how to make it go away and export my SVG graphic properly. Can anyone help? Thanks!

    I exported a wireless network connection profile from a Windows 7 machine correctly connected to a WiFi network with a WPA-TKIP passphrase. The exported xml file shows the correct settings and a keyMaterial node which I can only guess is the encrypted passphrase. When I take the xml to another Windows 7 computer and import it using netsh wlan add profile filename="WiFi.xml", it correctly adds the profile's SSID and encryption type, but a balloon pops up saying that I need to enter the passphrase. Is there a way to import the passphrase along with all other settings or am I missing something about adding profiles?   • How to mount a LOFS in Solaris that doesn’t cross mountpoints

    I need to access my "root" ZFS dataset to delete a file under "/var". But "/var" is overlayed by another ZFS dataset. Since these are system datasets I can't "umount" them while the machine is running. And I want to avoid to reboot the system in "failsafe" mode, since this is a production machine. Teorically ZFS would refuse to mount "/var" dataset over the underlying "/var", because it is not empty. But it works, possibly because they are system datasets mounted early in the boot process. But having the underlying "/var" not empty is preventing me to create an ABE (Alternate Boot Environment), so patching is risky, and I can't upgrade my system using Live Upgrade. The machine is remote. I have an IP KVM, but I rather prefer to avoid booting this machine in "failsafe" mode, if I can. I know there is a file in "/var/" because I can snapshot the "root" dataset and check it. But snapshots are read-only, so I can't get rid of the file. I tried "mkdir /tmp/zzz; mount -F lofs / /tmp/zzz", but when I go to "/tmp/zzz/var", I see the "/var" dataset, not the underlying "root" dataset. That is, the LOFS is crossing mountpoints. I would usually like it, but not this time!. Any suggestion, beside rebooting the machine in "failsafe" and mess with it thru the IP KVM?

  • Windows Start Menu Not Staying on Top

    Hey everyone. I've had this problem since Windows Vista. I did a clean install with Windows 7 and hoped it would fix the problem. Also swapped out the video card just to rule out a strange driver issue. Here's what's happening. After running for some period of time (usually a few hours), the Start button/orb will loose it's "Chrome" and turn into a plain button that just says "Start." It will work fine for a while, but then the start menu will just stop showing. Additionally, when I hit Win+D to show the desktop, the entire taskbar completely disappears. I can get it back usually by moving/minimizing windows that may be overlapping where the start menu should show. Otherwise, it requires either a full reboot or I'll end up killing & restarting the explorer.exe process.   • How to install Python newt or snack in Mac OS X for byobu

    I've installed byobu in Mac OS X 10.6.5. It will start, (i.e. it will start a screen session) but in order to run byobu-config and probably in order to do some other things I need a module called snack which apparently is part of python newt. pip search newt and pip search snack return no results. newt and snack aren't in MacPorts or Brew either. I haven't found anything online in my searching with respect to installing newt on Mac OS X. Has anyone else been able to install byobu and newt in Mac OS X?

  • Office 2007 Setup prompts for PptLR.cab

    While running Office 2007 Ultimate Setup on Windows 7 box, I get this error message - "Setup cannot find PowerPoint.en-us\PptLR.cab". This file is very much present in the setup folder. It gives me an option to choose the correct path of this file, but when I browse and navigate to the folder containing this file, it doesn't show me the CAB file for selection. I tried installing both from DVD and also running setup from hard disk location. The same setup media was used earlier for installation on Vista without any issues!

    We have a restricted Windows 7 computer that hides and prevents non-admin users from accessing the C Drive. However, they are able to circumvent this by typing the following into Explorer: \\localhost\C$ How can I disable this path but allow other UNC paths. For example they are allowed to access a shared folder on a different computer. eg. \\192.168.2.1\SharedTransfer Note: Simply Enabling the Group Policy: Remove Run menu from Start Menu will not work as this blocks all UNC paths.

  • Programmable Home Security Alarm [closed]

    I don't ask for recommendation! (just wanted to say that; anyway it doesn't matter now as the question is closed) I've seen some advertisements about home alarms that notifies me that something is happening in my house. None of them mentioned programmability (with real programming language like e.g C, assembler, whatever). As a programmer I'd like to have a possibility to add some behaviour, that is not part of the alarm itself. This might be: take snapshots of all cameras in a house and send it to some email send email, twitter message, skype message to some predefined account send email to a police (silly, I know) start turning the lights on and off (scary, right?) etc. (would be veeery challenging with assembler, I know; but lets suppose I can use some more high level language) I don't expect that there is a alarm system capable of this stuff, that's why I'm looking for a programmable module. Question: Is it even possible? Is it good idea (my program could crash and cause instability of the system).
