I really suck at graphics / music / 3D modeling / animation and it's a must-have when you have a hundred hobby game development projects you're working on.   I inherited a piece of code that uses document.write to insert a certain div when the code is encountered. Unfortunately, this code is causing issues in IE where the code fails. Is there a way around this to insert a div on the page without it? I can't make a big change since this code is currently used by many clients(it's like google adsense kind of thing). Is there an alternative to document.write - I don't have a way to capture a div on the page since it's something plugged in by anyone.

• Sharepoint SSO bulk creation of user accounts

  Hopefully someone can help... I need to provide client with a solution to allow bulk creation of user accounts into SharePoint SSO. The client wants to provide an excel spreadsheet with accounts, usernames and passwords and have that created in the SSO database. I've been told its possible but I can't see how and google is failing me. I've been told its "some custom development and the SharePoint object model". As far as I can see all of the credentials stuff in the Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.SingleSignon namespace is very much read only. I have a solution which is to get them to save the spreadsheet as a CSV file and to use jmeter to squirt the data in through the front end. I don't think that's really an acceptable solution though. Anyone got any clues? Or can anyone say definitively this can't be done? Thanks in advance...

• What is better: CSS hacks or browser detection?

  Commonly when I look around the Internet, I find that people are generally using CSS hacks to make their website look the same in all browsers. Personally, I have found this to be quite time consuming to find all of these hacks and test them; each change you make you have to test in 4+ browsers to make sure it didn't break anything else. About a year ago, I looked around the Internet for what other major sites are using (Yahoo, Google, BBC, etc) and found that most of them are doing some form of browser detection (JS, HTML if statements, server based). I have started doing this as well. On almost all of the sites I have worked on recently, I use jQuery, so I use the built in browser detection. Is there a reason you use or don't use either of these?

  Hello everyone, I am developing module where-in i pick the image from photo library and put into a Sprite. I want to implement Zoom-in, Zoom-out kind of effect for a Sprite image, same like camera album images zoom in/out effect. Could someone please guide me how do i implement it? I see somewhere is that, i have to detect two touch events in TouchBegan and then Adjust the Sprite Scale size to up or down based on the distance of two fingers touch event values. Could someone please tell me, How do i detect two fingers touch values in TouchBegan? How to allow to touch and Zoom-in/out of Sprite image by user? Please give me samples.   I have a curl class, called Curl. Let's presume i have this code: $url = 'http://www.google.com' $fields = array('q'=>'search term'); //maybe some other arguments. but let's keep it simple. $curl = new Curl(); $page = $curl->post($url,$fields); $page will have some images wich curl doesn't load them by default. I need to know how i can save a specific image without using curl. Once I use $page = $curl-post(..) I need to know how I can have that image saved without using another $curl-post(_image_location_) to get that file. The reason why need this is to save a captcha image from a form. I need to access the form and get that specific image that's being loaded. If i try to access the URL of the image, it will be a different captcha image.

  Hi, the following code produces the error in the title. I've tried to google it, but all I got were pages who got the same error (and not an explanation thereof). This isn't really a problem since it's actually working and cancelling the error out with the @ works out just fine.   I am trying to process with Proguard a MS Windows desktop application (Java 6 SE using the SWT lib provided by Eclipse). • Silverlight Project - Setting Reference to Copy Local false not working.

  Why is it that when my Silverlight project is built, the output directory contains a bunch of culture specific directories: ar\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll bg\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll ca\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll etc etc etc Also the root of the build output contains: System.Xml.Linq.dll System.windows.Controls.dll I have gone through the projects in my solution and made sure that "Copy Local" is set to false for all the referances of the mentioned dll files. Those 2 files were set to true, but I did switch them to false. Despite my effort to google an answer, I remain stuck.

• Apache mod rewrite rules to Zeus rewrite rules

  Hi, This morning I wanted to move my development website online (in a protected folder), but I figured out that our host (on a shared server) does not use apache mod_rewrite but Zeus rules. I've never heard about that before but it seems that apache rules could be automatically converted via a command line, but as you can guess I have no such access on the server. So, do you know any online coverter from Apache rules to Zeus ones? (I tried google but found nothing). Or could someone translate these simple rules with his server: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . index.php [L] It should normaly be something like: match URL into $ with ^[^\/]*\.html$ if matched then set URL = index.php endif But it just doesn't do anything, just the annoying 404 error page.   Could anyone point me to (or provide?) some nice, clear examples of how to implement scrolling in Win32? Google brings up a lot of stuff, obviously, but most examples seem either too simple or too complicated for me to be sure that they demonstrate the right way of doing things. I use LispWorks CAPI (cross-platform Common Lisp GUI lib) in my current project, and on Windows I have a hard-to-figure-out bug relating to scrolling; basically I want to do some tests directly via the Win32 API to see if I can shed some light on the situation. • Benefits of programming (doing) versus reading blogs (thinking?)

  I have come to a conclusion or realization that perhaps many developers I know including myself have a fanatical fascination with reading as many programming and technology blogs or listening to podcasts as humanly possible. I sometimes wonder if this time would be much better spent in actual coding and doing, rather than the incessant thinking and perhaps wondering what the "other guy" is doing? With a very large signal to noise ratio in most blogs and podcasts, is there real benefit in maintaining a huge and constant blog role.. or is this some primal fear or instinct to keep up the pace unless being left behind? Can they simply be relegated to Google search and just-in-time learning?   Hey, I've been wondering to try out server-side javascript for a while. And I'm finding a good amount of servers, like: Node.js Rhino SpiderMonkey among others. Could anyone with experience on server-side javascript, tell me which are the best engines? and why? I like the Node.js because it's based on Google's V8 engine. And seems easy to use. I have no experience with server-side caching, and my (possibly incompetent) google searches aren't returning anything basic enough to get me started. • Is there something like bsdiff/Courgette for jar files?

  Google uses bsdiff and Courgette for patching binary files like the Chrome distribution. Do any similar tools exist for patching jar files? I am updating jar files remotely over a bandwidth-limited connection and would like to minimize the amount of data sent. I do have some control over the client machine to some extent (i.e. I can run scripts locally) and I am guaranteed that the target application will not be running at the time. I know that I can patch java applications by putting updated class files in the classpath, but I would prefer a cleaner method for doing updates. It would be good if I could start with the target jar file, apply a binary patch, and then wind up with an updated jar file that is identical (bitwise) to the new jar (from which the patch was created).

• Export JPG out of Dicom File With mDCM

  Hello, I'm using mDCM with C# to view dicom tags, but I'm trying to convert the pixel data to a Bitmap and eventually out to a JPG file. I have read all of the posts on the mDCM Google Group on the subject and all of the code examples either don't work or are missing important lines of code. The image I am working with is a 16 bit monochrome1. I have tried using LockBits, SetPixel, and unsafe code in order to convert the pixel data to a Bitmap but all attempts fail. Does anyone have any code that could make this work. Thanks in advance P.S. Before anyone suggests trying something else like ClearCanvas, know that mDCM is the only library that suits my needs and ClearCanvas is WAY too bloated for what I need to do.

I try to use next statement: map.getCurrentMapType().getProjection().fromPixelToLatLng(pointValueFromEvent, map.getZoom()); but it wasn't helpfull (GLatLng value is outside of my map). I think it's because I use my own map type, how can I get GLatLng value to add the marker? Best regards, Alex.

But I feel that the answers recommended ( such as Tao and OpenTK) are not good enough because they are just a direct port from OpenGL, with no OOP design, and hard to use. What I'm looking for is a .Net OpenGL wrapper that is written in clear OOP principles, easy to use ( easy to apply textual and lighting, easy to debug etc), able to rotate the 3D diagram with mouse ( a feature that is critically missing from OpenGL and TAO), and the ability to export to other file formats ( such as dwg or dxf or Google Map file format). Any suggestion? Both Open source or commercial components would do.

• SQL Server 2008 Restore from Backup fails with error 3241 'cannot process this media family'

  I am attempting to backup a database from a SQL Server instance on one machine and restore it to another, and I am encountering the frequently discovered 'SQL Server cannot process this media family' error. Each of my instances are SQL Server 2008, but with different patch levels Restore: 10.0.2531.0 Backup: 10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 ) The restore DB is express. Not sure about the backup version. The backup version is on a virtual private server. The restore is on my development box. When I restore to a different database on the source (backup) server, it restores fine. Lots of stuff on google about this issue, some on stackoverflow about this issue, but nothing which is this exact situation. Any thoughts? It should be straightforward to do a backup and restore from one machine to another (having done this thousands of times in with SQL 6.5,7,2000,2005).
