• Are multiline tooltips possible using CWnd::EnableTooltips()?

  I'm attempting to make my tooltips multiline, but I don't seem to be having much luck with it. I call CWnd::EnableTooltips() directly after creation (in this case, an edit box) and I handle the TTN_NEEDTEXT message. My tooltips display correctly, but only display as a single line. I've tried adding '\n' to the string I pass when handling TTN_NEEDTEXT, and also tried '\r\n'. No luck. It just displays them as normal text in the tooltip string. I then tried manually inserting 0x0D0A, but this just displays as boxes. I've been digging a bit, and have found a few offhand references on the web saying that multiline behavior may not work when using tooltips through the CWnd functions. I'd prefer not to have to replace with CToolTipCtrl (since it's a rather large project). Has anyone ran into this before? If so, is there any way around it?

  I have one TextBox and one listbox for searching a collection of data. While searching a text inside a Listbox if that matching string is found anywhere in the list it should show in Green color with Bold. eg. I have string collection like "Dependency Property, Custom Property, Normal Property". If I type in the Search Text box "prop" all the Three with "prop" (only the word Prop) should be in Bold and its color should be in green. Any idea how it can be done?. Data inside listbox is represented using DataTemplate.

• Interoperability between two AES algorithms

  Hello, I'm new to cryptography and I'm building some test applications to try and understand the basics of it. I'm not trying to build the algorithms from scratch but I'm trying to make two different AES-256 implementation talk to each other. I've got a database that was populated with this Javascript implementation stored in Base64. Now, I'm trying to get an Objective-C method to decrypt its content but I'm a little lost as to where the differences in the implementations are. I'm able to encrypt/decrypt in Javascript and I'm able to encrypt/decrypt in Cocoa but cannot make a string encrypted in Javascript decrypted in Cocoa or vice-versa. I'm guessing it's related to the initialization vector, nonce, counter mode of operation or all of these, which quite frankly, doesn't speak to me at the moment. I see that each encryption with the same key and same content in Javascript gives a different encrypted string, which is not the case with the Objective-C implementation that always give the same encrypted string. I've read the answers of this post and it makes me believe I'm right about something along the lines of vector initialization but I'd need your help to pinpoint what's going on exactly. Thank you!

  I have a problem where depending on the result of a random coin flip, I have to sample a random starting position from a string. If the sampling of this random position is uniform over the string, I thought of two approaches to do it: one using multinomial from numpy.random, the other using the simple randint function of Python standard lib.   From the documentation: os.path.realpath(path) Return the canonical path of the specified filename, eliminating any symbolic links encountered in the path (if they are supported by the operating system). When I invoke this with an extant file's name, I get the path to it: /home/myhome/myproject. When I invoke this with a 'nonsense.xxx' string argument, I still get a path to /home/myhome/myproject/nonsense.xxx. This is a little inconsistent because it looks like nonsense.xxx is taken to be a directory not a file (though it is neither: it does not exist). When I invoke this with a null string file name, I still get a path to /home/myhome/myproject. How can I account for this behaviour when the documentation says so little about realpath()? (I am using Python 2.5.) Edit: Somebody suggested a way to test if files exist. My concern is not to test if files exist. My concern is to account for behaviour.

  Hello According to RFC, in multipart/form-data content-disposition header filename field receives as parameter HTTP quoted string - string between quites where character '\' can escape any other ascii character. Problem web browsers don't do it. IE6 sends: Content-Disposition: form-data; name="file"; filename="z:\tmp\test.txt" Instead of expected Content-Disposition: form-data; name="file"; filename="z:\\tmp\\test.txt" Which should be parsed as z:tmptest.txt according to rules instead of z:\tmp\test.txt. Firefox, Konqueror and Chrome don't escape " characters for example: Content-Disposition: form-data; name="file"; filename=""test".txt" Instead of expected Content-Disposition: form-data; name="file"; filename="\"test\".txt" So... how would you suggest to deal with this issue?

• Php writing to file - empty ?

  Hey, I've been struggling with writing a single string into a file. I'm using just a simple code under Slackware 13: $fp = fopen('/my/absolute/path/data.txt', 'w'); fwrite($fp, 'just a testing string...'); fclose($fp); The file gets created (if it's not already created) but it's empty ?! The directory in which this file is written is owned by apache's user & group (daemon.daemon) and has 0777 permissions. This has never happened to me before. I'm curious what's the reason I'm not able to write inside the file ? Thanks in advance.

• How would you parse the location text from Twitter to get the latitude/longitude in Objective-C?

  The location text from Twitter could be just about anything. Sometimes Twitter clients set the location with the user's latitude and longitude in the following format. "\U00dcT: 43.05948,-87.908409" Since there is no built-in support for Regular Expressions in Objective-C I am considering using the NSString functions like rangeOfString to pull the float values out of this string. For my current purpose I know the values with start with 43 and 87 so I can key off those values this time but I would prefer to do better than that. What would you do to parse the latitude/longitude from this string?

• Best way to model map values in Grails?

  Hi guys, I have to implement map values in my Grails app. I have a class that can contain 0..N OsmTags, and the key is unique. In Java I would model this with a Map in each object, but I don't know how to map classes in Grails.   I've never seen this done but I had an idea of doing authorization in a more purely OO way. For each method that requires authorization we associate a delegate. During initialization of the class we wire up the delegates so that they point to the appropriate method (based on the user's rights). For example: class User { private deleteMemberDelegate deleteMember; public StatusMessage DeleteMember(Member member) { if(deleteMember != null) { deleteMember(member); } } //other methods defined similarly... User(string name, string password) //cstor. { //wire up delegates based on user's rights. //Thus we handle authentication and authorization in the same method. } } This way the client code never has to explictly check whether or not a user is in a role, it just calls the method. Of course each method should return a status message so that we know if and why it failed. Thoughts?

  I often have a need to take a list of objects and group them into a Map based on a value contained in the object. Eg. take a list of Users and group by Country. My code for this usually looks like: Map<String, List<User>> usersByCountry = new HashMap<String, List<User>>(); for(User user : listOfUsers) { if(usersByCountry.containsKey(user.getCountry())) { //Add to existing list usersByCountry.get(user.getCountry()).add(user); } else { //Create new list List<User> users = new ArrayList<User>(1); users.add(user); usersByCountry.put(user.getCountry(), users); } } However I can't help thinking that this is awkward and some guru has a better approach.   I need a way to collapse duplicate (defined in terms of a string field with an id) results in solr. I know that such a feature is comming in the next version (1.5), but I can't wait for that. What would be the best way to remove duplicates using the current stable version 1.4? Given that finding duplicates in my case is really easy (comparison of a string field), should it be a Filter, should I overwrite the existing SearchComponent or write a new Component, or use some external libraries like carrot2? The overall result count should reflect the shortened result.

  I have to handle this scenario in Java: I'm getting a request in XML form from a client with declared encoding=utf-8. Unfortunately it may contain not utf-8 characters and there is a requirement to remove these characters from the xml on my side (legacy). Let's consider an example where this invalid XML contains £ (pound). 1) I get xml as java String with £ in it (I don't have access to interface right now, but I probably get xml as a java String). Can I use replaceAll(£, "") to get rid of this character? Any potential issues? 2) I get xml as an array of bytes - how to handle this operation safely in that case?
