  • iPhone Launch Image zoom animation not working on physical device

    I have developed an iPhone app with a launch image. When starting the app in the simulator, the image zooms in as expected. However, when the app is deployed to my physical device, the zoom animation is very short and sometimes completes instantaneously. I'm sure it's nothing to do with my app start up as I put a sleep call in applicationDidFinishLoading to slow it down and this occurs after the zoom animation has completed.

    ([UIDevice currentDevice].orientation); using the above code in my app, all i get is 0 (unknown) is there something thats going wrong here? Seems pretty straightforward edit: more research led me to the problem with using device orientation early in the app, which I am doing. However when I instead use interfaceOrientation, it always returns 1 (portrait)

    In Chrome v17.0.963.79 on Windows 7, I seem to be having an inexplicable problem when applying the -webkit-appearance: none style to an <input> tag. The problem is as follows: I have a stylesheet, let's call it potatofoot.css, which consists of the code .tbl { display: table; } .tblRow { display: table-row; } .tblCell { display: table-cell; } input { -webkit-appearance: none; }? and I have an html file, let's call it blech.html, which contains the code <div class="tbl"> <div class="tblRow"> <label class="tblCell">Name</label> <input type="text" class="tblCell" value="I'M NOT EMPTY! OH, YEAH!"> </div><!--end tblRow--> </div><!--end tbl--> This displays fine (see this jsfiddle). But when I empty the value attribute, as in this jsfiddle, the entire table grows from a height of 26px to a height of 31px, the label moves to the bottom, and the input stays at the top. However, if I remove -webkit-appearance: none;, everything shows up the same with and without out the value attribute being filled. What's going on?

    Does anyone know of a Windows Mobile 7 device aimed at business use? I’m looking for something with bar code scanning capability. Psion, hand held, and honeywell only offer 6.5 at the moment. Granted, Windows Mobile 7 just barely came out and these sorts of devices usually lag a bit behind consumer toys...but hopefully someone can help.

  • Sanitizing User Input with Ruby on Rails

    I'm writing a very simple CRUD app that takes user stories and stores them into a database so another fellow coder can organize them for a project we're both working on. However, I have come across a problem with sanitizing user input before it is saved into the database. I cannot call the sanitize() function from within the Story model to strip out all of the html/scripting. It requires me to do the following: def sanitize_inputs self.name = ActionController::Base.helpers.sanitize(self.name) unless self.name.nil? self.story = ActionController::Base.helpers.sanitize(self.story) unless self.story.nil? end I want to validate that the user input has been sanitized and I am unsure of two things: 1) When should the user input validation take place? Before the data is saved is pretty obvious, I think, however, should I be processing this stuff in the Controller, before validation, or some other non-obvious area before I validate that the user input has no scripting/html tags? 2) Writing a unit test for this model, how would I verify that the scripting/html is removed besides comparing "This is a malicious code example" to the sanitize(example) output?   • Accessing PCI Device from user space programs

    I have a device which would be interface with my processor through pcie. I have written driver for it using the existing pci file operations. Now my problem is how do I access it from user space programs? PCI File operations do not have IOCTL support and hence I cant make an ioctl call unlike other char devices. I cannot use pci_config_read_byte etc. functions as they are meant for kernel space(included in linux/pci.h).

    Hi, Kangxi radicals in the range 2F00-2FDF (see link text) are not displayed correctly on the iPhone device. They appear as a crossed-out box. In the simulator they display correctly. I tried the system font and also the [UIFont fontWithName:@"STHeitiTC-Medium" size:24]; ... Is the unicode codepoint coverage limited on the iphone (in my case OS 3.1.3)? How to make those radicals appear??? Thx

    I would like to know as to what will happen to the thread which has been created by an activity and the device is rotated. I have observed that the onDestroy method is called when this happens.     I have bunch of Symbol MC 70 devices. They run Windows Mobile 5. Most of these work just fine, but I have one that is sending the sounds (alarms and such) to the phone rather than the speaker on the device. (The sounds play in the speaker used for listening to a phone call) Does anyone know how to route this back to the actual phone speaker?

But the code does nothing. Here is my HTML: <tr id="row_1"> <td id="tempRowKey_1" > <input type="text" size="10" value="1.0.0" class="updatable" id="TempRowKey_1"> </td> <td id="title_1"> <input id="Title_1" class="updatable" type="text" value="zxxx" size="100" name="item.Title"> </td>. <td ... </tr> Is there some way I can test this.
