• Framework for Implementing REST web service in Django

  I'm looking to implement a RESTful interface for a Django application. It is primarily a data-service application - the interface will be (at this point) read-only. The question is which Django toolsets / frameworks make the most sense for this task. I see Django-rest and Django-piston. There's also the option of rolling my own. The question was asked here, but a good two years back. I'd like to know what the current state of play is. In this question, circa 2008, the strong majority vote was to not use any framework at all - just create Django views that reply with e.g. JSON. (The question was also addressed, crica 2008, here.) In the current landscape, what makes the most sense?

  I built a assembly which is a class library, for example lib.dll . And I also have a application to access this lib, for example test.exe. I changed the security permission for the test.exe to "intranet". At the same time, I want to change lib.dll to "Internet" like this: (Because I want to do some testing for security.) CasPol.exe -m -ag 1.2 -strong -file lib.dll lib 1.0.0.0 Internent But it seems the lib.dll can not get the security permission as I wanted. What is wrong with the command?   I've just read "Injecting Custom Logic in ADO.NET Data Services" and my next question is, How do you get your [WebGet] method to show up in the client-side proxy classes? Sure, I can call this directly (RESTfully) with, say, WebClient but I thought the strong typing features in ADO.NET Data Services would "hide" this from me auto-magically. • Get user-inputed file name from JFileChooser Save dialog box

  This answer to this question may seem obvious, but I'm actually struggling with it quite a bit. I've searched through JFileChooser methods in the API, and I've looked at some of the questions already asked and answered here on stackoverflow. My question is this. In my program, I am to allow the user to type in a file name which I will then use to create a brand new file that I will write on. How do you get the text the user has entered in the textfield next to the label "Save As:" on the Save dialog box provided by JFileChooser? Is there a JFileChooser method that would allow me to get that user-inputed text? Or would I have to go through another class, or do something else to get that text? Thank you so much, to anyone who answers. It's very late for me now, and this program is due in a few hours (meaning I'll be having another sleepless night). Desperate may be too strong a word, but I'm something close enough.

• Looking for Eclipse plugin: Lock source tabs in place

  When working with java code in Eclipse I can typically juggle between 20-40 different files, but there usually are just two that I actively work with at the time (test and code). Going back to the code where I want to work after having debugged through 5-10 classes can be a pain. So what I would like to do is to be able to right click on the tab of a class and choose to lock them in place. The classes would then always be available as the first and second tabs furthest to the left in the editor. All other classes (and other files opened in the editor) would then fight over the remaining space in the editor like today. Is there a plugin like this? My google-fu might not be strong enough, cause I find nothing.

  I am looking for a Chess AI that can be run on Google App Engine. Most chess AI's seem to be written in C and so can not be run on the GAE. It needs to be strong enough to beat a casual player, but efficient enough that it can calculate a move within a single request (less than 10 secs). Ideally it would be written in Python for easier integration with existing code.   Hi, I developed an Outlook 2003 add-in which uses the com dll redemption. I created a visual studio 2008 setup project, added a custom action to run "caspol.exe -machine -addgroup 1 -strong -hex [key] -noname -noversion FullTrust -n \"Name\" -description \"desc\" and moved the registry keys under software to HKLM as described in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc136646.aspx#AutoDeployVSTOse_InstallingtheAddinforAllUsers to ensure all-users compatibility. I included the redemption.dll in the setup with vsdrfCOMSelfReg (vsdrfCOM throwed an error). My problem is: When installing the setup on a test machine under an admin account, it runs fine under all users, however when we use the company wide software deployment which runs under a system account the setup executes but the add-in wont load. If I repair the installation with an admin account again it loads just fine. Shouldn't a system account have the required permissions to install all of the components? What options do I have? In my case, I would like the following: Lesser code to write, have really strong library and plugin base. Always have new library etc added in from contributor, eg: google map and etc... Ability to use together with the templating system like smarty. Have ACL that can control all the permission level issue. Load class when needed, unload when not needed. Load class once and use globally. Can run in windows environment (I am using xampp to run my php in windows.) After the site done, I will upload all codes into windows 2008 server (using php 5)

• How can I best geocode a table of addresses in SQL Server?

  I've got a SQL Server 2008 table with addresses. I've got some C# code that can individually geocode the addresses. I've got a Google Maps API for geocoding. Now I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to use these resources. I could write a console app that manually updates the tables using my C# library, but the data I have is updated periodically. I will be performing an import routine of some sort and I'm thinking it would be 'simplest' to perform the geocoding as the import occurs. I'm not so strong on SQL Server capabilities, so I'm looking for advice. I've considered letting the import call an assembly I create that would be referenced in SQL Server, but read that Sql Server 2008 has made it virtually impossible to reference your own DLL. So my next guess is having the import call a web service to pass in the address and update the table with the results, but I've not had much luck in finding info on this method. Any advice?

• Is it possible to compile IronRuby code to a .NET assembly (EXE or DLL)

  My scenario consists of the following points. I have a packaged software product I am developing in C# Since it is a packaged product, the public interfaces of the assemblies need to be tightly controlled... All assemblies are strong-named Any classes that don't absolutely have to be "public" are "internal" I want to write unit tests for those "internal" classes, since they are the bulk of the code And finally.... I want to try writing the unit tests in Ruby. Since the unit tests would be external to the assembly containing the code under test, the assemblies under test would each need to have an "InternalsVisibleTo" attribute specifying the name of the unit test assembly. Which of course would mean that the Ruby unit tests would have to compile down to a .NET assembly so they can be given access in this way. Can this be done? If so, how? All I can find on the web about "compiling IronRuby" is about building the actual IronRuby runtime from source.

  When I turn on Code Coverage in my test settings, on a project that references the Unity DI container I get the following error: Cannot initialize the ASP.NET project '{Project Name}'. The event log specifies the following reason: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.Unity, Version=2.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Strong name signature could not be verified. How do I get around this issue? I am running Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate on a Windows 7 X64 machine.

• How do I mock memory allocation failures ?

  I want to extensively test some pieces of C code for memory leaks. On my machine I have 4 Gb of RAM, so it's very unlikely for a dynamic memory allocation to fail. Still I want to see the comportment of the code if memory allocation fails, and see if the recover mechanism is "strong" enough. What do you suggest ? How do I emulate an environment with lower memory specs ? How do i mock my tests ? EDIT: I want my tests to be code independent. I only have "access" to return values for different functions in the library I am testing. I am not supposed to write "test logic" inside the code I am testing.

• Caching generated QR Code

  I use zxing to encode a qr code and store it as a bitmap and then show it in ImageView. Since the image generation time is significant I'm planning to move it to a separate thread (AsyncTaskLoader will be fine I think). The problem is - it's an image and I know that to avoid memory leaks one should never store a strong reference to it in an Activity. So how would you do it? How to cache an image to survive config changes (phone rotation) and generally avoid generating it onCreate()? Just point me in the right direction, please.

• Wordpress TinyMCE keeps it clean, how?

  I've noticed that the latest version of TinyMCE on Wordpress manages text in a very 'clean' way. Pasting from MS-Word it strips out all html text blocks, like <p>'s, and shows the text cleared of any odd formatting preserving only links, bolds and underlines. On top of that the source code format is very clear. No <br />'s everywhere. You only see \n's and the expected <strong><u><i> tags. I've been messing up with TinyMCE configuration files for some time with little success. I did manage to get all formatting removed. I can't, however, put TinyMCE to display the \n's as <br />'s lie Wordpress does it. Tried preformatted : true with no success whatsoever. Has anyone here been able to do it?   I have been having difficulty simply writing a Visual Studio Editor Extension with MEF (Managed Extensiblity Framework). I thank those who answered my previous question, as they helped me know that I need to work with MEF. I've been trying to learn MEF for the Visual Studio Editor from MSDN's page, Extending the Editor, but it appears that I have a hard time understanding it. Can anyone provide strong resource or tutorials in addressing problem such as using the right ContentTypeDefintion (IGlyphFactory, TextMarkTag, etc...), and what is a ITagger. I need to understand these things, as most of the walkthrough only extending the text, such as only using the "spans" functionality, while I need to use "selection" methods and use MouseEventHandlers. Does anyone know an example similiar to my example, or references can tell me something about MEF's for VS editor in-depth?

• How to stop HTML text in textarea to be interpreted as code

  I have a textarea that users can edit. After the edit I save the text in a PHP variable $bio. When I want to display it I do this: <?php $bio = nl2br($bio); echo $bio; ?> But if a user for example types an HTML command like "strong" in their text my site will actually output the text as bold. Which is nothing I want. How can I print/echo the $bio on the screen just as text and not as HTML code? Thanks in advance!

  i am on a mac (10.6.3) with snow leopard. i hear that the assembly language i work with has to be valid with the chipset that you use. i am completly new to this i have a basic background in C and Objective-C programming and an almost strong background in php. Ive always wanted to see what assembly is all about. the tutorial ill be looking at is by VTC via (http://www.vtc.com/products/Assembly-Language-Programming-Tutorials.htm). what i want to know is are the tutorials that im about to do compatible with the version of mac that i have? sorry i am completly new to this language although i do recall studying some of it way way back in the day. i do have xcode and what i'm wondering is what kind of document would i open in xcode to work with assembly and does the mac have a built in hex editor (when it comes time to needing it)? thanks
