• NTLM Authentication fails ONLY with IE against 2k8 App server behind 2k8 IIS7 Reverse Proxy

  I'm developing an ASP.NET application for an intranet site that is using Windows/NTLM/WIA/whatever authentication. The application is hosted on a Windows 2k8 server but is accessed through a Reverse Proxy using IIs7 on another 2k8 machine. Authentication works fine in FireFox, Chrome and Safari but fails in IE8. If I circumvent the Proxy and access the application server directly then it works fine so it has something to do with proxy. There's nothing in the Event Viewer on any of the 3 machines to indicate what might be happening. If you connect using IE8 it prompts for your credentials instead of automatically passing them, yes I've setup an explicit trust over an above the domain trust, but it still errors out with a 401 error returned from the proxy. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this?

• getResourceAsStream returns HttpInputStream not of the entire file

  Hi, I am having a web application with an applet which will copy a file packed witht the applet to the client machine. When I deploy it to webserver and use: InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("filename") ; The in.available() always return a size of 8192 bytes for every file I tried, which means the file is corrupted when it is copied to the client computer. The InputStream is of type HttpInputStream (sun.net.protocol.http.HttpUrlConnection$httpInputStream). But while I test applet in applet viewer, the files are copied fine, with the InputStream returned is of type BufferedInputStream, which has the file's byte sizes. I guess that when getResourceStream in file system the BufferedInputStream will be used and when at http protocol, HttpInputStream will be used. How will I copy the file completely, is there a size limited for HttpInputStream? Thanks a lot.

• Adobe Reader 9.0 memory leak while loading-unloading PDF files every one second indefinitely

  I have c++ written MFC based application that has PDF object viewer as a part of the implementation. A whole thing works just fine with Adobe Reader 8.0. Once I switched to Adobe Reader 9.0 as a default PDF reader, I keep experiencing small memory leak that forces my application to crash within a half an hour of continuous loading-unloading different PDF files. Any ideas what might cause this memory leak and is there any cure besides replacing Adobe Reader 9.0 with anything else? (Works fine with Foxit PDF reader as well, by the way..)

  Hello, I recently heard of the jQuery datalink plugin and wondered if I should be using if for the following: I have a an inbox in my app that consists of the following: Inbox (index) - List of Items (list of mails) Inbox (show) Item Viewer (1 mail) Inbox Unread Counter The challenge I'm having now is a user can mark a mail as read/unread in either view which makes keeping the counter accurate challenging. Can datalink help with this? If so how? Also, I read that datalink requires forms is that true? Or can I bind the links to anything like 0 and anytime a mailitem changes from read to unread it would automatically update? Thanks

• Rails 2 and Ngnix: https pages can't load css or js (but will load graphics)

  ADMISSION: i've posted this same question on stackoverflow, before realising it's probabaly better suited to superuser, but it kind of depends on the answer: If it turns out to be a problem in my nginx config, it's definitely superuser. If it turns out to be a problem in my Rails config (or code) then it's arguably stackoverflow. I'm adding some https pages to my rails site. In order to test it locally, i'm running my site under one mongrel_rails instance (on 3000) and nginx. I've managed to get my nginx config to the point where i can actually go to the https pages, and they load. Except, the javascript and css files all fail to load: looking in the Network tab in chrome web tools, i can see that it is trying to load them via an https url. Eg, one of the non-working file urls is https://cmw-local.co.uk/stylesheets/cmw-logged-out.css?1383759216 I have these set up (or at least think i do) in my nginx config to redirect to the http versions of the static files. This seems to be working for graphics, but not for css and js files. If i click on this in the Network tab, it takes me to the above url, which redirects to the http version. So, the redirect seems to be working in some sense, but not when they're loaded by an https page. Like i say, i thought i had this covered in the second try_files directive in my config below, but maybe not. • Silverlight - Timeout Issue

  Hello, I have a Silverlight 3 application that is querying a large dataset. This query is taking over one minute. After approx. one minute into the attempt, an error is getting logged into the event viewer that says: "Membership credential verification failed" Oddly queries that are taking shorter than 1 minute are running successfully. Because of this, I do not believe it is a "credential" issue, unless somehow it is expiring. But how do I set the expiration? I have no idea what else this could be. Thank you,

• To implement a remote desktop sharing solution

  Hi, I'm on planning/modeling phase to develop a remote desktop sharing solution, which must be web browser based. In other words: an user will be able to see and interact with someone's remote desktop using his web-browser. Everything the user who wants to share his desktop will need, besides his browser, is installing an add-in, which he's going to be prompted about when necessary. The add-in is required since (afaik) no browser technology allows desktop control from an app running within the browser alone. The add-in installation process must be as simple and transparent as possible to the user (similar to AdobeConnectNow, in case anyone's acquainted with it). The user can share his desktop with lots of people at the same time, but concede desktop control to only one of them at a time(makes no sense being otherwise). Project requirements: All technology employed must be open-source license compatible Both front ends are going to be in flash (browser) Must work on Linux, Windows XP(and later) and MacOSX. Must work at least with IE7(and later) and Firefox3.0(and later). At the very least, once the sharer's stream hits the server from where it'll be broadcast, hereon it must be broadcasted in flv (so I'm thinking whether to do the encoding at the client's machine (the one sharing the desktop) or send it in some other format to the server and encode it there). Performance and scalability are important: It must be able to handle hundreds of dozens of users(one desktop sharer, the rest viewers) We'll definitely be using red5. My doubts concern mostly implementing the desktop publisher side (add-in and streamer): 1) Are you aware of other projects that I could look into for ideas? (I'm aware of bigbluebutton.org and code.google.com/p/openmeetings) 2) Should I base myself on VNC ? 3) Bearing in mind the need to have it working cross-platform, what language should I go with? (My team is very used with java and I have some knowledge of C/C++, but anything goes really). 4) Any other advices are appreciated.

• Child service not writing to event log

  I am having a very simple (but incredibly frustrating) issue with a parent service and the child service. Let's call the parent service "Service A" and the child "Service B". Both services reside on the same box. Using WCF Storm, when I send Service B a message, I see lots of entries in the event viewer for it. However, if I send a message to Service A, which calls Service B, I only see entries from Service A. So for some reason, the child logs are not written when the parent calls it, but if I call it myself, the logs do indeed show up, so I know it's not a problem with the logging or anything like that. SDI - Single document interface, each pane is its own window MDI - Multiple document interface, all of the panes are stuck inside one "master" window. Eclipse is an MDI application. All of the little panes (like the call stack, variable viewer, ect) are part of the one master Eclipse window. Rather than having all of the windows stuck inside one master "eclipse" window, I'd like them to all be their own free-floating windows.

  In the GQL reference [1], it is encouraged to use the IN keyword with a list of values, and to construct a Key from hand the GQL query SELECT * FROM MyModel WHERE __key__ = KEY('MyModel', 'my_model_key') will succeed.   It's no secret that application logs can go well beyond the limits of naive log viewers, and the desired viewer functionality (say, filtering the log based on a condition, or highlighting particular message types, or splitting it into sublogs based on a field value, or merging several logs based on a time axis, or bookmarking etc.) is beyond the abilities of large-file text viewers. I wonder: Whether decent specialized applications exist (I haven't found any) What functionality might one expect from such an application? Id been passed to the subreport from the main report. When I run in crystal report it works fine. • Need CSS Help with a hover element - cant extend to left and right of page

  Hi there, Need some CSS guru help. If you visit my link: http://www.gabbr.com/js/viewer/cmedata/index1.html and hover over the years (top middles, 2008, 2009, 2010, etc) you will notice an orange bar extending from the top to the bottom of the page. I am trying to get the same effect on the left (month and day) but am unable to do so. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the orange hover bar to extend off the left of the screen for either #dayleft or for #monthleft. It extends all the way to the right margin of the screen but not the left. The problem is the margin-left: 15px; in #monthleft and margin-left: 80px; in #dayleft. But I cannot get rid of these since I require them for the letter spacing. Any advice?

  First of all apologies for the below question. Am from a Testing background for the past 8 years and very novice to Jmeter. I went through the Jmeter site, and ran a sample recording using the jmeter.apache.org site and it went fine. I want to test my knowledge and understanding. So, I did the following way. Created a thread group. Added a config element HTTP Default Requests with server name as mail.google.com. Added a Sampler as HTTP request, set the METHOD to POST and gave the username and password, and i ran the test. When i see the Results Viewer, i could see the login page of gmail, I need to know how to pass my username and password and simulate the clicking of Submit button and getting the next page. Please help, am very new and will really appreciate if it's explained as simple as possible.

• Is directly executing SQL bad app design?

  I'm developing an iOS application that's a manager/viewer for another project. The idea is the app will be able to process the data stored in a database into a number of visualizations-- the overall effect being similar to cacti. I'm making the visualizations fully user-configurable: the user defines what she wants to see and adds restrictions. She might specify, for instance, to graph a metric over the last three weeks with user accounts that are currently active and aren't based in the United States. My problem is that the only design I can think of is more or less passing direct SQL from the iOS app to the backend server to be executed against the database. I know it's bad practice and everything should be written in terms of stored procedures. But how else do I maintain enough flexiblity to keep fully user-defined queries? While the application does compose the SQL, direct SQL is never visible or injectable by the user. That's all abstracted away in UIDateTimeChoosers, UIPickerViews, and the like.

• Echo html+php from database

  I am working on a site which deals with a lot of texts in HTML, so recently I learned PHP and moved them into a MySQL database and echo the contents given a specific chapter and section. Now this works relatively fine, the HTML shows up properly. However, in some parts I have included PHP function calls, and these doesn't seem to be evaluated - rather, they get just inserted into the source code (and thus invisible for the page viewer), never doing anything. They did work when they were simple .html files. How can I solve this? For example, a text can look like this: <?php printChapterName(); ?> <p>Some text</p> ... <?php showImage($name, $alt-text); ?> ... This just shows the text on the page. Edit: The functions are echo:ing some HTML.

• Project works in eclipse but not when exported

  I wrote an application that uses GraphViz to generate some graphs as .gif's according to the DOT syntax. When I run from Eclipse the images are generated fine but when I export it as a jar the images are created but there is no data in them. When I view them in Microsoft Picture Viewer its just the red X. It was working as an exported jar until I put the picture generation in its own thread. I can't seem to figure out whats going on here. Are there any problems exporting multi-threaded projects? Any one have any ideas? Thanks

• How do I turn a PDF email attachment to an image (jpg) in a PHP page?

  Hi guys. Long time viewer, first time question asker. I'm trying to have my personal website parse through my mail box for attachments from a certain subscription list, and then be able to view the PDF attachments as images, preferably jpg. With the help of this: http://www.linuxscope.net/articles/mailAttachmentsPHP.html I'm currently using imap_base64() to decode the MIME data and create the PDF. However, I hate using PDF readers in general and I thought it would be a lot more streamlined if I could just view it as an image instead. I've heard for convert with ImageMagick, but would I need to actually write the PDF to a directory before using this, or can I convert somehow directly from the MIME data in the email?
