• Best practice to pass a value from pop up control on iPad.

  It is an iPad app based on SDK 3.2. I have a MainUIView, that is subclass from UIView, it have a UIButton and a UILabel. When user press the UIButton, the pop up control will be appeared with a table view. When the user select a cell from the table view, the UILabel changes content base on the user click, and the pop up table view will disappear. The question is, how can I pass the "selected cell" to the UILabel. I am thinking making a "middle man" object. When the user click the UIButton, and the "middle man" will pass to the table. When the cell is selected, the "middle man" will store the idx, and call the UILabel change content from the value of "middle man". But I think it is pretty complex to implement, is there any easier way to implement it? thz u.

Also, I am open to suggestions for optimizing the query - adding more index on the tables etc... I mean shouldnt the depency query read from the procedure and not from the database ? If not is there a query that reads from the procedure and not from database ? Edit ok I will make it clear : my question USER_DEPENDENCIES read from the procedure or the database ? My second question does the recycle bin always shows ? I mean is there times where the result of the recylebin disapear ?

In the code below, Resharper is telling me, "Value assigned is not used in any execution path" (pointing to the first line). If I accept its offer of help, dt is not assigned a value ("today"). Is this a case where "I have to be smarter than it" and ignore their warning, or is this a case where the tool is smarter than me, and I'm just not understanding it? My take on the situation is that if the if statement fails, the current date is returned (the default value I want), but if I acquiesce to Resharper's "demands" it would return the default value for Datetime, which is the minimum date, which I assume is something like 7/4/1776 or 1/1/0000 or so.   I have an entity in my EDMX that I've extended with a few fields in a partial class like this: public partial class Employee { public string JobName {get;set;} } These properties are for display only. In the above example say the entity has a JobTypeID property. I wish JobName to be populated w/ the name that belongs to that JobTypeID. Is there anyway to query the employee record in EF including the value for the JobName property w/o explicity assigning each field using select()? The reason I ask is that there are a lot of fields in the Employee entity so I'd like to be able to take advantage of something like: ctx.Employees.Where(e=>e.EmployeeID==employeeID).Single() ...add somehow fill in JobName too Is this possible?

  Basically I need to find all elements on the page that have a scrollbar (vertical or horizontal) How to tell if an element has a scrollbar and can actually be scrolled? I found this code snippet on jsperf. Is it possible to capture the logic behind the code into and XPath expression? Or are there any other ways to check for scrollbars? Added: Just to explain what I'm trying to do: I'm developing extension for Firefox. Basically it introduces Vim-style mouseless shortcuts (I know there is Vimperator and Pentadactyl...).   I have a long running function that should be inserting new rows. How do I check the progress of this function? I was thinking dirty reads would work so I read http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.4/interactive/sql-set-transaction.html and came up with the following code and ran it in a new session: SET SESSION CHARACTERISTICS AS SERIALIZABLE; SELECT * FROM MyTable; Postgres gives me a syntax error. What am I doing wrong? If I do it right, will I see the inserted records while that long function is still running? Thanks

  If this were raw-SQL, it'd be a no-brainer, but in Django, this is proving to be quite difficult to find. What I want is this really: SELECT user_id FROM django_comments WHERE content_type_id = ? AND object_pk = ? GROUP BY user_id It's those last two lines that're the problem. I'd like to do this the "Django-way" but the only thing I've found is mention of aggregates and annotations, which I don't think solve this issue... do they? If someone could explain this to me, I'd really appreciate it.

• How to retrieve column total when rows are paginated?

  Hey guys I have a column "price" in a table and I used a pagination script to generate the data displayed. Now the pagination is working perfectly however I am trying to have a final row in my HTML table to show the total of all the price. So I wrote a script to do just that with a foreach loop and it sort of works where it does give me the total of all the price summed up together however it is the sum of all the rows, even the ones that are on following pages. How can I retrieve just the sum of the rows displayed within the pagination? Thank you! Here is the query.. • HTML/Javascript Strange behavior with input field and TABBING

  I have a strange error where if a user enters in data, say first name and then tabs, the text in the field is highlighted/selected as opposed to moving to the next. So, a person may type the first name and then tab to the next input item, text is selected and then they hit a character and now the name they typed in is deleted. If I use the default [input] tags, the tab works properly. But in the code below, with keyup, that may change the tabbing behavior. How can I get my code where it won't select the text. I don't know if some of you also has experienced it but when I edit a query in Visual Studio (it uses DDEX 2.0.5 for accessing the Firebird 2.5 database), it duplicates some of the columns. What's really interesting is the fact that only System.Boolean columns are duplicated: Originally, there was only ,for instance, a 'PRO_DELETED' field... Now I wanted to sort my results by this field - I had to change the select statement in the so-called QueryBuilder by adding "ORDER BY PRO_DELETED" ...After clicking OK it somehow created a new column (!?) called 'PRO_DELETED1' My question is: Why does DDEX add such a new row to the column view and why can't I access the original PRO_DELETED field anymore?   Say I've got two tables. One contains a list of items, and one contains pictures of the items. I am sure I've tried almost everything I can think of, but nothing is coming to mind. I apologize if the answer to this is simple, but It's just escaping me right now.
