• Windows Sharepoint Services - FullTextSqlQuery Document library Unable to find items created by SYST

  We have created an ASP.NET web app that upload files to WSS Doc Libary. The files get added under 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT' in the library. The FullTextSqlQuery class is used to search the document libary items. But it only searches files that has been uploaded by a windows user account like 'Administrator' and ignores the ones uploaded by 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT'. As a result the search results are empty even though we have the necessary data in the document library. What could be the reason for this?   Hi, I have a GridView to which I bind a dataTable I manually create. Both the GridView and the dataTable contain 2 columns, Name and isBusy. My GridView looks like this <Columns> <asp:BoundField HeaderText="Name" DataField="Name" SortExpression="Name"> </asp:BoundField> <asp:CheckBoxField DataField="isBusy" HeaderText="Busy" SortExpression="isBusy" /> </Columns> That works fine, except that the Busy column is non-editable unless you set a specific row to edit mode. I require the entire column of checkboxes to be checkable.   I am trying to use the DotNetOpenId library to add OpenID support on a test website. For some reason it keeps giving me the following error when running on FireFix. • HTTP 500 ERROR on CAS Server while setting SSLVerifyClent as "required"

  I have 3 servers, a Apache Server, a JBOSS Server and a CAS Server for SSO. The Apache Server resolve all request with a domain such as www.request.com, and the path of CAS Server is www.request.com/cas, and JBOSS Server is www.request.com/jboss (This app got a CAS client). My problem is if I set SSLVerifyClient require for the NameVirtualHost of www.request.com in my Apache Server, I got a HTTP 500 error during the redirecting to the JBOSS Server(http://www.request.com/jboss), after logined in the CAS login page successfully. • Home automation using Arduino / XMPP client for Arduino

  I am trying to setup a system for automating certain tasks in my home. I am thinking of a solution wherein a server side application would be able to send/receive commands/data to Arduino (attached with Arduino Ethernet Shield) via the web. Here the Arduino may both act as a sensor interface to the server application or command executor interface for the server app. E.g. (user story): The overhead water tank in my house has a water level sensor attached with Arduino (attached with Arduino Ethernet Shield). Another Arduino (attached with Arduino Ethernet Shield) is attached with a relay/latch. This relay/latch is then connected to a water pump. Now the server side application on the web is able to get/receive water level information from the Arduino on the water tank. Depending on the water level information received, the web application should send suitable signals/commands to Arduino on water pump to switch 'ON' or switch 'OFF' the water pump. Now for such a system to work across the web, I am thinking of using one of the type of solutions in order of my priority: Using XMPP for communication between server application and Arduino. Using HTTP polling. Using HTTP hanging GET. For solution number 1, I need to implement a XMPP client that would reside on Arduino. Is it possible to write a XMPP client small enough to reside on an Arduino? If yes what are the minimum possible XMPP client functionality that I need to write for Arduino, so that it would be able to contact XMPP servers solutions like GTalk, etc.? For solution number 2 and 3 I need guidance in implementation. Also which solution would be cost effective and easily extendable?

After I deploy the web part, I set the following XSL to it: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xmp> <xsl:copy-of select="*"/> </xmp> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> This xsl will surround the input xml with a tag . So I expected the web part to display the original xml data as I wrote in C# code behind. But what shows up in the web part is this: <Person> <name cap="true" /> <occupation /> </Person> All the values within the inner-most tags disappear. What's going on? Can anybody help me? Thanks.

  I am trying to get an ajax get to a webmethod in code behind. The problem is I keep getting the error "parserror" from the JQuery onfail method. If I change the GET to a POST everything works fine. Please see my code below. • Objective C - displaying data in NSTextView

  Hi, I'm having difficulties displaying data in a TextView in iPhone programming. I'm analyzing incoming audio data (from the microphone). In order to do that, I create an object "analyzer" from my SignalAnalyzer class which performs analysis of the incoming data. What I would like to do is to display each new incoming data in a TextView in realtime. So when I push a button, I create the object "analyzer" whiwh analyze the incoming data. Each time there is new data, I need to display it on the screen in a TextView. My problem is that I'm getting an error because (I think) I'm trying to send a message to the parent class (the one taking care of displaying stuff in my TextView : it has a TexView instance variable linked in Interface Builder). What should I do in order to tell my parent class what it needs to display ? Or how sohould I design my classes to display automaticlally something ? Thank you for your help.   Hi all, I've created simple jax-ws (anotated Java 6 class to web service) service and deploied it on glassfish v3. The service works fine but I have 2 issues: I'm using apache common configuration package to read my configuration, so i have init function that calls configuration stuff. 1. How can I configure init method for jaxws service (like i can do for the servlets for example) 2. the load on startup parameter is not affecting the service, I see that for every request init function called again (and c-tor). • running asp.net 3.5 and asp.net 2.0 in same site

  We're running ASP.Net 2.0 on our corporate web site, and I'd like to get it up to ASP.Net 3.5 as smoothly as possible. The project/solution architecture in VS 2005 is an ASP.Net 2.0 web project and an .Net 2.0 data access layer project which is used by the site code. Upon opening the projects in a new VS 2008 solution they seemed to be converted to .Net 3.5 with a minimum of fuss - they built correctly out of the box, deployed successfully, and seem to work just fine, which is exactly as I would expect given that .Net 2.0 and 3.5 share a common runtime. The major difference after the conversion is that the web.config file's referenced dlls are now the 3.5 versions. What I would like to do is to update the site piecemeal; as I make modifications to a given page send the 3.5 verson of that page over to our webserver and not update the whole site at once. In testing on our dev box this approach seems to be working fine - the site code is interacting with the .Net 3.5 data access layer without difficulty, a handful of pages are running 3.5 page-behind code (by this I mean that they're running assemblies built in VS 2008 - the site is using single-page assemblies for code behind), the 3.5 web.config is in place, and the bulk of the site is running code-behind assemblies built in VS2005. Everything looks great. Which makes me worried that I'm missing something. Is this architecture workable, or is there a problem lying is wait for m that I haven't considered?

• log4net affecting other projects which don't even use it

  I'm seeing something really strange happening with some projects I'm working on. I used log4net in an MVC web site and this was working great. I then was working on a totally unrelated Console application which uses the SharePoint API and as soon as I include the following line (other lines don't cause the problem) SPLimitedWebPartManager spWebPartManager = web.GetLimitedWebPartManager("http://blah/blah.aspx?PageView=Shared", System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope.Shared); I get the following message in the console app log4net:ERROR XmlConfigurator: Failed to find configuration section 'log4net' in the application's .config file. Check your .config file for the <log4net> and < configSections> elements. The configuration section should look like: <section n ame="log4net" type="log4net.Config.Log4NetConfigurationSectionHandler,log4net" / > log4net:ERROR XmlConfigurator: Failed to find configuration section 'log4net' in the application's .config file. Check your .config file for the <log4net> and < configSections> elements. The configuration section should look like: <section n ame="log4net" type="log4net.Config.Log4NetConfigurationSectionHandler,log4net" / > I get this twice after a small delay. The delay is probably the request to get the web part manager from the page but I'm not sure why this log4net error is showing up in this project. I've gone through the code and bin folders etc. and found no trace of any log4net mentions. Any ideas why this might be happening?

  I am entering mobile development. I have been working primarily in .NET since 1.0 came out in beta. Before that, I was mostly a C++ and Delphi guy and still dabble in C++ from time to time. I do web apps quite a bit so I am reasonably proficient with Javascript, JQuery and CSS. I have also done a few Java applications. I started web programming with CGI and live mostly in the ASP.NET MVC world these days. I am trying to decide on which platform/OS and tool to select. I am concerned with the size of the market available for my applications as well as the marketibility of the skills I will pick up. The apps I have in mind would work on both phones and pads. Some aspects of what I have in mind will play better on the bigger screens that will be available on pads. Here are the options I am considering: Apple iPhone/iPad using pure Apple SDK (Objective-C) Apple iPhone/iPad using Mono Touch (C#) Android using pure Android SDK (Java) Multiple platforms using something like Titanium to generate native apps from web technologies (HTML, CSS and Javascript) Multiple platforms using HTML5 web applications that run in the browser (HTML, CSS and Javascript). Which option would you choose? Do you have a different suggestion? What are the pros and cons?

• Bamboo to Build Specific SVN Revision

  Hi! Imagine there's a project in Bamboo with two build plans: Staging Deployment (SD) and Production Deployment (PD). Building SD checks out latest sources, builds them and deploys a web site to a staging server. Currently, PD does all the same, namely deploys the latest version of a web site to a production server. Clearly, this is not very good: I want to be able to deploy the same exact version of a web site that was previously deployed on a staging server, not the latest one. To illustrate: suppose we're at r101 in SVN repo. Clicking "Build SD" will deploy a web site version, say, 2.1.0.101 to staging server. Now we commit a breaking change and end up at r102. Now I want to deploy to a production server. If I hit "Build PD", Bamboo will happily check out r102 and build it, resulting in version 2.1.0.102 being deployed to a production server. What I want it to do, however, is to build and deploy a version which was previously built in an SD plan (that is, 2.1.0.101). Of course I can make SD plan to tag latest-successful build as tags/builds/latest, but I would rather have Bamboo itself handle that.

• Best practice for structuring a new large ASP.NET MVC2 plus EF4 VS2010 solution?

  Hi, we are building a new web application using Microsoft ASP.NET MVC2 and Entity Framework 4. Although I am sure there is not one right answer to my question, we are struggling to agree a VS2010 solution structure. The application will use SQL Server 2008 with a possible future Azure cloud version. We are using EF4 with T4 POCOs (model-first) and accessing a number of third-party web-services. We will also be connecting to a number of external messaging systems. UI is based on standard ASP.NET (MVC) with jQuery. In future we may deliver a Silverlight/WPF version - as well as mobile. So put simply, we start with a VS2010 blank solution - then what? I have suggested 4 folders Data (the EF edmx file etc), Domain (entities, repositories), Services (web-services access), Presentation (web ui etc). However under Presentation, creating the ASP.NET MVC2 project obviously creates it's own Models folder etc and it just doesn't seem to fit too well in this proposed structure. I'm also missing a business layer (or does this sit in the domain?). Again I am sure there is no one right way to do it, but I'd really appreciate your views on this. Thanks

• DomainContext class is not created in a RIA services class library solution

  I have created a RIA services class library project and things are not going as I expected. The problem is that when I add domain service classes to the server project, the corresponding domain context classes are not generated on the client project. I start by creating a new project of type WCF RIA services class library. The generated solution has two projects: RIAServicesLibrary1 (the Silverlight class library project) and RIAServicesLibrary1.Web (the class library that will hold the services). Then I add a new project item to RIAServicesLibrary1.Web of type DomainServiceClass. I add a sample method so that the resulting class code is: namespace RIAServicesLibrary1.Web { using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; using System.Linq; using System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting; using System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Server; // TODO: Create methods containing your application logic. [EnableClientAccess()] public class DomainService1 : DomainService { [Invoke] void DoSomething() { } } } Then I generate the whole solution and... nothing happens on the client project. The Generated_Code folder is empty, and the domain context object for the service is not here. Funny enough, if I add a new item of type Authentication domain service, it works as expected: the file RIAServicesLibrary1.Web.g.cs is created on the client project, containing the AuthenticationDomainService1 class as expected. So what's happening here? Am I doing something wrong? Note: I am using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RTM and WCF RIA services 1.0.

• trigger config transformation in TFS 2010 or msbuild

  I'm attempting to make use of configuration transformations in a continuous integration environment. I need a way to tell the TFS build agent to perform the transformations. I was kind of hoping it would just work after discovering the config transform files (web.qa-release.config, web.production-release.config, etc...). But it doesn't. I have a TFS build definition that builds the right configurations (qa-release, production-release, etc...) and I have some specific .proj files that get built within these definitions and those contain some environment specific parameters eg: <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)'=='production-release' "> <TargetHost Condition=" '$(TargetHost)'=='' ">qa.web</TargetHost> ... </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)'=='qa-release' "> <TargetHost Condition=" '$(TargetHost)'=='' ">production.web</TargetHost> ... </PropertyGroup> I know from the output that the correct configurations are being built. Now I just need to learn how to trigger the config transformations. Is there some hocus pocus that I can add to the final .proj in the build to kick off the transform and blow away the individual transform files?

• Confused with an ASP.NET/WCF WSDL Parsing Error

  I have a WCF Web Service that my ASP.NET app uses. It has been working fine for quite some time. I just added in a Dev Express Grid (and the Dev Express DLLs) and a new page that uses them and now I am getting parsing errors on the WSDL. But the weird part is that it works fine on my machine but fails on the web server machine. (Both are connecting to the same web services WSDL.) Here is the error message I am getting: Server Error in '/MyWebAppWebDev' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. • Implementation review for a MVC.NET app with custom membership

  I'd like to hear if anyone sees any problems with how I implemented the security in this Oracle based MVC.NET app, either security issues, concurrency issues or scalability issues. First, I implemented a CustomOracleMembershipProvider to handle the database interface to the membership store. I implemented a custom Principal named User which implements IPrincipal, and it has a hashtable of Roles. I also created a separate class named AuthCache which has a simple cache for User objects. Its purpose is simple to avoid return trips to the database, while decoupling the caching from either the web layer or the data layer. (So I can share the cache between MVC.NET, WCF, etc.) The MVC.NET stock MembershipService uses the CustomOracleMembershipProvider (configured in web.config), and both MembershipService and FormsService share access to the singleton AuthCache. My AccountController.LogOn() method: 1) Validates the user via the MembershipService.Validate() method, also loads the roles into the User.Roles container and then caches the User in AuthCache. 2) Signs the user into the Web context via FormsService.SignIn() which accesses the AuthCache (not the database) to get the User, sets HttpContext.Current.User to the cached User Principal. In global.asax.cs, Application_AuthenticateRequest() is implemented. It decrypts the FormsAuthenticationTicket, accesses the AuthCache by the ticket.Name (Username) and sets the Principal by setting Context.User = user from the AuthCache. So in short, all these classes share the AuthCache, and I have, for thread synchronization, a lock() in the cache store method. No lock in the read method. The custom membership provider doesn't know about the cache, the MembershipService doesn't know about any HttpContext (so could be used outside of a web app), and the FormsService doesn't use any custom methods besides accessing the AuthCache to set the Context.User for the initial login, so it isn't dependent on a specific membership provider. The main thing I see now is that the AuthCache will be sharing a User object if a user logs in from multiple sessions. So I may have to change the key from just UserId to something else (maybe using something in the FormsAuthenticationTicket for the key?).

• Mark assembly App_licenses.dll with AssemblyVersion (FxCop CA1016 rule)

  Hello everyone, I'm trying to fulfil FxCop's rules in my web site. Since I use some Infragistics controls I have a licenses.licx file that turns into a "app_licenses.dll" assembly after publication. The problem is that this app_licenses.dll assembly does not comply with rule CA1016 (MarkAssembliesWithAssemblyVersion), and I should add an AssemblyVersion attribute to 'App_Licenses.dll'. Any help would be much appreciated.

• ASP.NET Projects with Two Versions of AjaxControlToolkit

  In my Solution I have three projects. Project A is a web app and uses version 1.0.10618.0 of the AjaxControlToolkit. I would love to upgrade it to the latest but unfortunately any newer release completely breaks a portion of my site. Project B is also a web app but is a completely new software product and so it uses (and relies on) the latest version of the AjaxControlToolkit. Everything works great. Thought A and B are totally different products they use the same DB and rely on the same ClassLibrary. Project C is a small web app that ties A and B together with certain functionality like forgot password pages. The pages in this app reside in a virtual directory of both A and B. Project C currently uses v1.0.10618.0 of the toolkit so it works with Project A but it fails with project B because the manifest definitions of the dlls don't match (to be expected). What I've done is built a new dll of the toolkit and changed the assembly and namespace to AjaxControlToolkit_v1 and then changed all v1 references to this new dll so the old version and new versions can sit side by side in the same bin folder and nobody complains. I then changed my web.config controls tag to look like this: <add tagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit_v1" assembly="AjaxControlToolkit_v1, Version=1.0.10618.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e"/> This all works except I get a runtime error of: Unknown server tag 'ajaxToolkit:AnimationExtender'. I can't figure out why this is, any ideas on how to remedy it?
