  • How does one refer to the game1 class's variables in XNA

    I try to refer to an array in the Game1 class by creating an object of the Game1 class with its definition Game1 gameObject; , its declaration gameObject = new Game1(); in the constructor, and its usage gameObject.tileArray[xInt, yInt].treed = true;. The game1 class itself remains unchanged in its class code other than some methods and variables. When I try to use this code in the TreeRegion class it gives me "Object reference not set to an instance of an object," leading me to believe that the game1 class is null somehow. How might one change the class or object in order to refer to game1's variables? Mind you I am self-taught and still rather new to C#.   • How to reflect over T to build an expression tree for a query?

    Hi all, I'm trying to build a generic class to work with entities from EF. This class talks to repositories, but it's this class that creates the expressions sent to the repositories. Anyway, I'm just trying to implement one virtual method that will act as a base for common querying. Specifically, it will accept a an int and it only needs to perform a query over the primary key of the entity in question. I've been screwing around with it and I've built a reflection which may or may not work. I say that because I get a NotSupportedException with a message of LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object GetValue(System.Object, System.Object[])' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. So then I tried another approach and it produced the same exception but with the error of The LINQ expression node type 'ArrayIndex' is not supported in LINQ to Entities. I know it's because EF will not parse the expression the way L2S will. Anyway, I'm hopping someone with a bit more experience can point me into the right direction on this.     HI,I need to create a GridView which DataSource is an object. Depending on the object I may need some columns with DropDownLists or TextFields (but not all rows) As I don't know the number or columns, they have to be dynamic. I found this solution: TemplateField t = new TemplateField(); t.HeaderTemplate = new GridViewTemplate("header", "title"); t.ItemTemplate = new GridViewTemplate("combobox", "val"); GridView1.Columns.Add(t); GridView1.DataSource = ds; GridView1.DataBind(); Where GridViewTemplate extends ITemplate. This didn't work for me, it fills all rows of a column and I had no way to control witch DropDownList and TextFields need to be created (object info). All the DropDownLists need to have an ID also only known by the object. There are some way I can do this?

    Hi, I've got a static method that accepts two object type variables and runs the CompareTo() method: public static int Compare(Object objA, Object objB) { return (((IComparable)objA).CompareTo(objB)); } Problem is that CompareTo() throws an exception when trying to compare between different types (e.g. int and double). I think this is what is causing the problem but it doesnt make sense I just want to return it as a string. It is only happening on this one field name, I can get every other field in the row but this one it gives me the error. I am getting an exception. The exception I am getting is No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1; nested exception is org.hibernate.HibernateException How do you query for a specific column on a row in hibernate?

    I am using gnosis.xml.pickle to convert an object of my own class to xml. The object is initialized so that: self.logger = MyLogger() But when I do dump the object to a string I get an exception stating that the pickler encountered an unpickleable type . Is there a way to 'tag' the logger attribute so that pickler will know not to try and pickle that attribute?

    The title suggests that i've already an idea what's going on, but i cannot explain it. I've tried to order a List<string[]> dynamically by each "column", beginning with the first and ending with the minimum Length of all arrays. So in this sample it is 2, because the last string[] has only two elements: List<string[]> someValues = new List<string[]>(); someValues.Add(new[] { "c", "3", "b" }); someValues.Add(new[] { "a", "1", "d" }); someValues.Add(new[] { "d", "4", "a" }); someValues.Add(new[] { "b", "2" }); Now i've tried to order all by the first and second column. I could do it statically in this way: someValues = someValues .OrderBy(t => t[0]) .ThenBy(t => t[1]) .ToList(); But if i don't know the number of "columns" i could use this loop(that's what I thought): int minDim = someValues.Min(t => t.GetLength(0)); // 2 IOrderedEnumerable<string[]> orderedValues = someValues.OrderBy(t => t[0]); for (int i = 1; i < minDim; i++) { orderedValues = orderedValues.ThenBy(t => t[i]); } someValues = orderedValues.ToList(); // IndexOutOfRangeException But that doesn't work, it fails with an IndexOutOfRangeException at the last line. The debugger tells me that i is 2 at that time, so the for-loop condition seems to be ignored, i is already == minDim. Why is that so?

  • C++ - Distributing different headers than development

    I was curious about doing this in C++: Lets say I have a small library that I distribute to my users. I give my clients both the binary and the associated header files that they need. For example, lets assume the following header is used in development: #include <string> ClassA { public: bool setString(const std::string & str); private: std::string str; }; Now for my question. For deployment, is there anything fundamentally wrong with me giving a 'reduced' header to my clients? For example, could I strip off the private section and simply give them this: #include <string> ClassA { public: bool setString(const std::string & str); }; My gut instinct says "yes, this is possible, but there are gotchas", so that is why I am asking this question here. If this is possible and also safe, it looks like a great way to hide private variables, and thus even avoid forward declaration in some cases. I am aware that the symbols will still be there in the binary itself, and that this is just a visibility thing at the source code level. Thanks!
