• Should I re-use UI elements across view controllers?

  In the iPhone app I'm currently working on, I'd like two navigation controllers (I'll call them A and B) to have toolbars that are identical in appearance and function. The toolbar in question will look like this: [(button) (flexible-space) (label)] For posterity's sake, the label is actually a UIBarButtonItem with a custom view. My design requires that A always appear directly before B on the navigation stack, so B will never be loaded without A having been loaded. Given this layout, I started wondering, "Is it worth it to re-use A's toolbar items in B's toolbar?" As I see it, my options are: 1. Don't worry about re-use, create the toolbar items twice 2. Create the toolbar items in A and pass them to B in a custom initializer 3. Use some more obscure method that I haven't thought of to hold the toolbar constant when pushing a view controller As far as I can see, option 1 may violate DRY, but guarantees that there won't be any confusion on the off chance that (for example) the button may be required to perform two different (no matter how similar) functions for either view controller in future versions of the app. Were that to happen, options 2 or 3 would require the target-action of the button to change when B is loaded and unloaded. Even if the button were never required to perform different functions, I'm not sure what its proper target would be under option 2. All in all, it's not a huge problem, even if I have to go with option 1. I'm probably overthinking this anyway, trying to apply the dependency injection pattern where it's not appropriate. I just want to know the best practice should this situation arise in a more extreme form, like if a long chain of view controllers need to use identical (in appearance and function) UI elements.

  I am working on a html project, which will eventually package by Phonegap. So I am trying to encode the data from html form to JSON format, then use ajax send to a php file resides on server, and receive the response to do something else. Now I use <a href='login.html'> in my index.html to open the login page. • How do I parse data received in a memorystream?

  I'm new to using sockets. I have a very basic client that sends a request, and waits for a response. The response is one stream, but has two parts. The first part is prefixed with ANS and is a set of key/value pairs in this form: KEY:Value with each pair on a separate line. The second part of the response is prefixed by RCT and this is pre-formatted text that needs to be send directly to a printer. So what would be the best way to extract both parts of the response, and in the first part, get each Key:Value pair. I might not even need them all, but I have to look at each one to see what the values are then decide what to do with it. I'm currently writing the response out to a textbox just to understand what its doing, but now I need to actually do something with the data. • VB.NET Program Locks Up with Internet Explorer Opened

  I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and developing a VB.NET application. I'm having strange lockup problems with my program, but only when Internet explorer 8 is opened. When I cover my form with another window and then uncover it, I find that it has locked up. My program has no references to IE and the only thing it even has to do with IE is using Process.Start with a web address. My program works fine and exactly as it should, but only when IE is not opened. Does anyone know why a program would lock up only while IE is running? Edit: I've done some digging and I've found the offending thread in my program. I don't know what starts this thread or what it does, but when I kill it, my program no longer freezes. • MySQL table doesn't update, can't find the error message

There's a registration form that, for some reason, isn't posting the data to the DB. • XML in Authorware 7.01

  Let me explain the setup that is being used. Right now I have an authorware program which loads an ocx control. This control receives data in the form on an XML string. This part is working properly. However I need parse this XML string in authorware and have not been successful. I have been trying to use the XMLParser Xtra. The documentation listed here shows how to create a new XMLParser object and then shows how to call the object but never explains how to link the Parser to a XML file or XML string. The information I have been using can be found here https://www.adobe.com/livedocs/authorware/7/using_aw_en/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Using_Authorware_7&file=09_va110.htm#224295 I need more information on how to Parse XML with this function or if there is another way to do this in Authorware. As a side note the documentation says it cannot create or append to XML, I will need to do this also inside of Authorware. Is this possible and if so, how?

My confusion is in how to set up the join (presumably that's what I'm looking for here) given that I want both the date and locationID to be the same for each row in the result set.   I'm using a slider as user input for a screen. Basically it's a bulk update screen where there is a table with multiple rows, thus multiple sliders. I created it so that the hidden value is what gets posted in the form. <td> <input class="percentageProvidedHidden" type="hidden" name='<%= "Values[" + i + "].Percentage" %>' value='<%=item.Percentage %>' /> <div class="percentageProvidedSlider"></div> </td> I have the update working just fine (move slider changes hidden input value, submit, values are updated in db), however, I can't get the damn thing to initialize with the value of the hidden input (note the "value: " parameter below). In this case I think $(this) isn't actually $('percentageProvidedSlider') but the page itself. Can someone help me get the slider value to initialize with the hidden input field? • Refetching a previously visited page

  All, I am having a field day with page refetching. Any help or pointer will be greatly appreciated!! The behavior is a bit specific to mobile browser. Problem: I have two pages and created a shortcut link to pg#1 in the home page. Through a form submit button, user is taken from pg#1 to pg#2. All that is working fine. Now once I am on pg#2. I will leave the browser and click the shortcut later. The browser will stay on pg#2 and won't go to pg#1 even though the path in URLS is different between the two views. It is almost like Django decides that since I have already visited view#1, it doesn't need to fetch it again. This problem or behavior doesn't happen if I move the same code that handle the two views and the templates to a bare bone test project. Setup: I am using django-registration, context session. I am not using any HTML caching tag. I already have DEBUG turned on in my settings.py. Are there other ways that I can tell what the server is doing. • C# Method not returning a unique value when it should be.

  I have two methods, generateNounPhrase() and generateVerbPhrase(). VerbPhrase will call on NounPhrase half the time and it's output the output should be something to the effect of: the empty lot re-animates this pyramid (bold indicating where generateNounPhrase() is logically called). The true output however is in the form of: the empty lot re-animates the empty lot At first I thought my randomIndex method wasn't working as I had intended, but if I run the two methods again I do get different noun phrases but they are not unique at the beginning and end of the sentence as they should be. • How can I secure my $_GETs in PHP?

  My profile.php displays all the user's postings,comments,pictures. If the user wants to delete, it sends the posting's id to the remove.php so it's like remove.php?action=removeposting&posting_id=2. If they want to remove a picture, it's remove.php?action=removepicture&picture_id=1. Using the get data, I do a query to the database to display the info they want to delete and if they want to delete it, they click "yes". So the data is deleted via $POST NOT $GET to prevent cross-site request forgery. • Java loop to collect the second and third elements every three in an array

  I have a file with data in the form timestamp, coordinate, coordinate, seperated by spaces, as here; 14:25:01.215 370.0 333.0 I need to loop through and add the coordinates only to an array. The data from the file is read in and put into as String[] called info, from split(" "). I have two problems, I think the end of the file has a extra " " which I need to lose appropriately and I also want confirmation/suggestions of my loop, at the moment I am getting sporadic out of bounds exceptions. My loop is as follows; String[] info; info = dataHolder.split(" "); ArrayList<String> coOrds1 = new ArrayList<String>(); for (int counter = 0; counter < info.length; counter = counter+3) { coOrds1.add(info[counter+1]); coOrds1.add(info[counter+2]); } Help and suggestions appreciated. The text file is here but the class receives in a UDP packet from another class so I am unsure if this potentially adds " " at the end or not.

  I'm building an Active Directory wrapper in VBNET 2.0 (can't use later .NET) in which I have the following: IUtilisateur IGroupe IUniteOrganisation These interfaces are implemented in internal classes (Friend in VBNET), so that I want to implement a façade in order to instiate each of the interfaces with their internal classes. This will allow the architecture a better flexibility, etc. Now, I want to test these classes (Utilisateur, Groupe, UniteOrganisation) in a different project within the same solution. However, these classes are internal. I would like to be able to instantiate them without going through my façade, but only for these tests, nothing more. • Changing PHP variable from an <a href=""> link

  I'm making a site using divs. I have one across the top with a row of links which I want to change what's in the main window. I would prefer to keep strictly to PHP and HTML and use a full page refresh as I am comfortable with them at current, rather than using an Ajax refresh as I don't have any knowledge of Ajax. I don't want to use iframes. I thought the best way to do this would be as follows: <div id="top"> <a href="news.html">News</a> </div> <div id="main"> <?php include($page); ?> </div> What I need is a way of changing the $page variable upon clicking the link. If this means changing the variable and then reloading the page then so be it. A command following the logic of: <a href="news.html" action="<?php $page="news.html"; ?>">News</a> would be ideal! I thought about using a form, but it seems there should be an easier way.

• How can I unobtrusively disable submit buttons with Javascript and Prototype?

  So I found this recommendation, but I can't quite seem to figure out how. Thanks for any help at all! Update: Sorry, I guess I wasn't entirely clear. I'd like to disable all of the submit buttons when someone clicks a submit button. But I do need to send along the value of the submit button so the server knows which button I clicked, hence the insert call. (Note: insert does not create a child of the element you call it on.) And then after disabling the submit buttons I need to call the containing form of the submit buttons submit call, as IE will not submit after you disable the button. Does that make sense?
