• What causes extra space and random alignment in my divs using the 960 grid system?

  I have an issue where elements in divs seemingly align randomly, not responding to any align tag, and where divs create extra space above or below its element. I'm using the 960 grid system and I have not altered the stock CSS file lest my fingers blow it up. I've put up a test page here, and please excuse some of the dodgy code :-D It's still in it's very early stages (as am I), but I don't feel I can move on until I can comfortably understand what is causing the issue. The best example on that page is the bottom horizontal bar and elements underneath. The bar adds a few pixels of dead space, and the elements below that align to different parts of their respective divs. Why is it that elements seemingly do not standardise their alignment given no instruction, and what causes extra space again where no instruction was given? My own thought was to relatively position everything individually, but I'm worried this will cause issues and 'break' the grid. Other than that, I unno. Thanks

• CakePHP Permissions, works fine on local server, but fails after upload.

  I created a website with CakePHP, set up all of the permissions so guests could view certain parts, and members only in certain areas, all with an administration panel. Whenever I test this on my local testing server, it works perfectly, if I login I can view the content, if I logout, I can't. However, when I upload exactly the same files and upload and import the database, it fails to work, it just disallows all member access regardless of if you're logged in or not, this even applies to administrators. I'm not sure what's going on here, any help would be appreciated. If you need any more information, just ask. Regards, Alz454.

  I am trying to get remote validation working in ASP.NET MVC 3 but for some reason the validation never gets fired. I am returning json from the controller and in FireFox it ask me to download the files. Not sure what is going on here. • Determine if a subview is visible in a UIScrollView

  Hi all, I've added a view to my app, that contains a UIScrollView, with a number of UITextViews in it's content view. This works perfectly on OS 3.0 and up, but when I test it on my 2.2.1 iPod touch, there is a UITextView bug that stops any text views automatically updating their content when they are scrolled into view - so you have to send them the setNeedsDisplay message. However, I only want to do this when they start to become visible during the scroll - how do I determine, in the UIScrollView's scrollViewDidScroll delegate method, whether a UITextView is visible in the UIScrollView's frame?   To test a polling function I want to mock the calling of a sub function so that the first time it is called it will fail, and the second time it is called it will succeed. Here's a very simplified version of it: poll_function(var1): value = sub_function(var1) # First call will return None while not value: time.sleep(POLLING_INTERVAL) value = sub_function(var1) # A subsequent call will return a string, e.g "data" return value Is this possible to do with a Mock object from the mock framework? I know Mock objects have a call_count attribute I should be able to use somehow. • Taking 2 attributes from XElement to create a dictionary LINQ

  I'm trying to take one attribute to use as the key, and another to use as the value. If I use (xDoc is an XDocument object in the example): Dictionary<string, XElement> test = xDoc.Descendants() .Where<XElement>(t => t.Name == "someelement") .ToDictionary<XElement, string>(t => t.Attribute("myattr").Value.ToString()); I get a dictionary with the myattr value as key (which is what I want) but the entire XElement object as the value. What I want to do, is to select a second attribute to set as the value property on each dictionary item, but can't seem to figure that out. Is it possible to do all of this in 1 Linq statement? • QR Factorization Discrepancy

  I'm trying to get a feel for the Intel MKL library with a simple back-solve (A*x = b) using a QR factorization and comparing my MKL answer to the answer of a known working solution. When my answers didn't come up correct I printed a diff between the Q and R matrices of the known working and the MKL test code. I know MKL/lapack uses "elementary reflectors" to store the values of both the Q and R matrices. So, I'm wondering if these differences (mostly +/-) are by design or the result of some bug. I'm using DGEQRF, DORMQR, and DTRSM routines to solve the system and DORGQR (for debugging) to get the Q matrix shown in the diff. diff with 6x6 matrix (top known, bottom mkl): http://pastebin.com/4uwcME0J

• iPad portrait... zoomed in on load, div not at full width

  When testing out my site on my iPad, the layout works as expected in landscape mode. When I try it in portrait mode, it is zoomed in, cutting off about 20% of the right hand side. And when I zoom that out, the background of the header and the footer containers only stretches the width that it was when zoomed in. I've dug around a bit online, and I'm suspecting it might have something to do with my meta tag. When I get rid of that tag completely, it displays the way I want it to, but gets rid of any responsive layout that I've designed for less than 767px when I load it on my iPhone. (Displays as if it wasn't responsive at all). Any ideas as to how I might go about fixing this? (Here's one of the pages that I'm talking about http://dotwong.com/test/tip/docking/)

  I am working on improving the performance of DataAccess Layer of an existing Asp.Net Web Application. The scenerios are. Its a web based application in Asp.Net. DataAccess layer is built using NHibernate 1.2 and exposed as WCF Service. The Entity class is marked with DataContract. Lazy loading is not used and because of the eager-fetching of the relations there is huge no of database objects are loaded in the memory. No of hits to the database is also high. For example I profiled the application using NHProfiler and there were about 50+ sql calls to load one of the Entity object using the primary key. I also can not change code much as its an existing live application with no NUnit test cases at all. Please can I get some suggestions here?

  I am using the jquery tabs . It shows up fine in Safari and firefox, however it will not load correct in IE. They show up as bullet points in stead of tabs.   I would like to dig into developing for jailbroken devices, just to test what the device could do. I would like, for instance, to alter the ipod music based on geo-location, so i have to program a new daemon that runs in background and fetch gps informations at regular interlavs and then make something with them. Longitude, longitude, for instance, does exactly this, even when the device is locked, and then upload the informations on google latidude. I have some experience as an iphone developer, but i'm not sure on where to find documentation to accomplish such a task. I know about the books "iphone open application development" and "the iphone developer's coockbook", but i don't own them and i'm not sure they have what i'm looking for. Any advice on this?

• Using xval with fields containing periods

  Hello, I have been using xVal with success for a while but this evening ran into an issue where a field containing a period would not be validated (client or server-side). I am using ASP.NET MVC2 and need to use the period syntax in cases where I am model binding to a list. In the below example I am using a textbox for the sake of simplicity: xVal.AttachValidator(null, { "Fields": [{ "FieldName": "entry[622592].Value", "FieldRules": [{ "RuleName": "Required", "RuleParameters": {}}]}] }, {}) <input type="text" class="text" name="entry[622592].Value"/> If I replace both instances of "entry[622592].Value" to something trivial like "test" then the validation works successfully, but if i leave it this way the validation never appears to fire... Has anyone run into this issue? Thanks in advance!
