  • CSS files that don't end with .css

    - by Yongho
Is there a disadvantage to using a dynamic Python file to generate the CSS for a webpage? I'd like computers with an administrator cookie to show special admin panel CSS, and show regular CSS for all other users. I'm planning to use: <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css.py" type="text/css" />

  • CSS 3 - Scaling CSS Transitions

    - by Viv Shc
    I am trying to scale an image when you mouseenter, which is working. I would like the image to gradually scale up with an ease transition. I used ease-in-out, which it's not working. Any suggestions? Also, I used addClass & removeClass twice in the jquery code. Is there a way to only use it once? Thanks! <style> .image { opacity: 0.5; } .image.opaque { opacity: 1; } .size{ transform:scale(1.2); -ms-transform:scale(1.2); /* IE 9 */ -webkit-transform:scale(1.2); /* Safari and Chrome */ -webkit-transition: scale 2s ease-in-out; -moz-transition: scale 2s ease-in-out; -o-transition: scale 2s ease-in-out; -ms-transition: scale 2s ease-in-out; transition: scale 2s ease-in-out; transition: opacity 2s; } </style> <script> $(document).ready(function() { $(".image").mouseenter(function() { $(this).addClass("opaque"); $(this).addClass("size"); }); $(".image").mouseleave(function() { $(this).removeClass("opaque"); $(this).removeClass("size"); }); }); <div id="gallery"> <h3>Gallery of images</h3> <img class="image" src="images/gnu.jpg" height="200px" width="250px"> <img class="image" src="images/tiger.jpg" height="200px" width="250px"> <img class="image" src="images/black_rhino.jpg" height="200px" width="250px"> <img class="image" src="images/cape_buffalo.jpg" height="200px" width="250px"> </div>

  • Styling a list as tabs with a background overflowing into content

    - by Litso
I couldn't think of any better way to name this question, but I'll explain. I have a mediawiki website with a background pattern (like parchment) behind the articles. At the top of each article I want to have tabs like wikipedia does (with page | talk | edit etc links). The problem is, the tabs should seamlessly fit with the article's background and I can't figure out if this is actually possible. The way I was trying to do it was positioning the list inside the actual content div and give the <li items a transparent background, but as far as I can see there's no way to color the rest of the <ul's background black without affecting the <li's in there. Anyone have an idea? (example url: http://dev.mansonwiki.com/wiki/Sandbox )

  • Background text in a Bootstrap WELL

    - by patrick
I have a problem putting a text in the background of a Bootstrap well. I first posted the problem in this question, but that was a too simple representation of my problem. I'm looking for an effect created in this jFiddle, a text in the background of a menu. The example works how I want to to work, but when I put this in a Bootstrap Well I get this (http://jsfiddle.net/aBqw8/21/). The background text disappears, it's probably behind the Well. When I remove the background color from the well I can see the text. If I remove the "position:relative" from the span it shows the title, but then it interferes with the menu, which is what I am trying to avoid. Thanks for your help!

  • CSS challenge: Two background images, centered column with fixed with, min-height 100%

    - by laurent
In a nutshell I need a CSS solution for the following requirements: Layout: One centered column with fixed width and a minimum height of 100% Two vertically repeated background images behind the centered column, one aligned to the left, one aligned to the right Cross browser compatibility A little more details Today a new requirement for my current web site project came up: A background image with gradients on the left and right side. The challenge is now to specify two different background images while keeping the rest of the layout spec. Unfortunately the (simple) layout somehow doesn't go with the two backgrounds. My layout is basically one centered column with fixed width: #main_container { margin: 0 auto; min-height: 100%; width: 800px; } Furthermore it's necessary to stretch the column to a minimum height of 100%, since there are quite some pages with only little content. The following CSS styles take care of that: html { height: 100%; } body { margin: 0; height: 100%; padding: 0; } So far so good - until the two background image issue arrived... I tried the following solutions Two absolute positioned divs behind the main container One image defined with the body, one with the html CSS class One image defined with the body, the other one with a large div begind the main container With either one of them, the dynamic height solution was ruined. Either the main container didn't stretch to 100% when it was too small, or the background remained at 100% when the content was actually longer

  • Reset.css and then a Set.css

    - by Sixfoot Studio
I have, for a while now been using a reset.css file to reset everything before I start laying out my html designs. The reset is great in that it allows one to better control attributes such as margins, padding, line-height etc for all browsers. In essence the flatliner of css files. Now to get the heart beating again, I need a "set.css" file. So what I have done is created an Html file with all the possible elements on the page to then go and set the padding, margins etc of the h1, h2, p, td etc. I need some help with this as I am not sure what the defaults normally are. I had a look at the Firefox default css file that's used to generate all these attributes on a raw html file but it doesn't cover all the scenarios I could come up with when developing a site. Here's an example of the set.html file (a work in progress) which can be used as a lorem ipsum filler to add to your first page in a cms and then to style with a "set.css" file http://www.sixfoot.co.za/labs/Html-Css/set.html I'd appreciate it if someone knows if something like a set.css file exists or if someone could tell me what the general padding and margins are in cases like this when you have reset the css. Cheers, James

  • Cannot see boot options after editing grub background

    - by cipricus
After solving this problem I managed to get myself into truble again out of nothing by trying to change the display of the dual boot option page in Boot Customizer. I have changed the background, the fonts size (I have increased them) and font style (I have chosen UnDotum). But Boot Customizer gave me an error (I mean a message that the application was closed unexpectedly or smth). I have restarted BootCustomizer and the settings were there. When I rebooted, instead of the normal boot options list, just the background image that I had selected and nothing else. I used Boot Repair to repair grub, it says it did it successfully, but I still get the background image when I try to boot. Any ideas? (Could it be the matter that I chose UnDotum font style? That was installed in Lubuntu - but how could it be accessible in displaying boot options?) The contents of etc/default/grub are: # If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update # /boot/grub/grub.cfg. # For full documentation of the options in this file, see: # info -f grub -n 'Simple configuration' GRUB_DEFAULT=0 GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true GRUB_TIMEOUT=10 GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian` GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" # Uncomment to enable BadRAM filtering, modify to suit your needs # This works with Linux (no patch required) and with any kernel that obtains # the memory map information from GRUB (GNU Mach, kernel of FreeBSD ...) #GRUB_BADRAM="0x01234567,0xfefefefe,0x89abcdef,0xefefefef" # Uncomment to disable graphical terminal (grub-pc only) #GRUB_TERMINAL=console # The resolution used on graphical terminal # note that you can use only modes which your graphic card supports via VBE # you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo' #GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480 # Uncomment if you don't want GRUB to pass "root=UUID=xxx" parameter to Linux #GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true # Uncomment to disable generation of recovery mode menu entries #GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY="true" # Uncomment to get a beep at grub start #GRUB_INIT_TUNE="480 440 1" I have tried to modify etc/default/grub: GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 to 10 GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true to false and GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to "" but it doesn't help Also, using Shift doesn't make the list visible. • PHP image resize and rounded image corners dynamically

    - by Dan
    I'm working of a script that dynamically ads rounded edges to an image then crops it down to a certain size. At the moment the script ads the rounded edges to the picture but i cannot get it so the original image is resized to fit within the dimensons of the final outputted image (140px x 120px) The problem is that the orginal uploaded image depending on it's orginal dimensions change the size it is in the final PNG { $image_file = $_FILES['image']['tmp_name']; $corner_radius = isset($_GET['radius']) ? $_GET['radius'] : 20; // The default corner radius is set to 20px $topleft = (isset($_GET['topleft']) and $_GET['topleft'] == "no") ? false : true; // Top-left rounded corner is shown by default $bottomleft = (isset($_GET['bottomleft']) and $_GET['bottomleft'] == "no") ? false : true; // Bottom-left rounded corner is shown by default $bottomright = (isset($_GET['bottomright']) and $_GET['bottomright'] == "no") ? false : true; // Bottom-right rounded corner is shown by default $topright = (isset($_GET['topright']) and $_GET['topright'] == "no") ? false : true; // Top-right rounded corner is shown by default $imagetype=$_FILES['image']['type']; $endsize=$corner_radius; $startsize=$endsize*3-1; $arcsize=$startsize*2+1; if (($imagetype=='image/jpeg') or ($imagetype=='jpg')) { $image = imagecreatefromjpeg($image_file); } else { if (($imagetype=='GIF') or ($imagetype=='gif')) { $image = imagecreatefromgif($image_file); } else { $image = imagecreatefrompng($image_file); } } $forecolor ='#ffffff'; $size = getimagesize($image_file); // Top-left corner $background = imagecreatetruecolor($size[0],$size[1]); imagecopymerge($background, $image, 0, 0, 0, 0, $size[0], $size[1], 100); $startx=$size[0]*2-1; $starty=$size[1]*2-1; $im_temp = imagecreatetruecolor($startx,$starty); imagecopyresampled($im_temp, $background, 0, 0, 0, 0, $startx, $starty, $size[0], $size[1]); $bg = imagecolorallocate($im_temp, 255,255,255); $fg = imagecolorallocate($im_temp, 255,255,255); if ($topleft == true) { if(!imagearc($im_temp, $startsize, $startsize, $arcsize, $arcsize, 180,270,$bg))echo "nope"; imagefilltoborder($im_temp,0,0,$bg,$bg); } // Bottom-left corner // Top-right corner if ($topright == true) { imagearc($im_temp, $startx-$startsize, $startsize,$arcsize, $arcsize, 270,360,$bg); imagefilltoborder($im_temp,$startx,0,$bg,$bg); } $image = imagecreatetruecolor(140,120); imagecopyresampled($image, $im_temp, 0, 0, 0, 0, $size[0],$size[1],$starty+1310,$startx+1500); // Output final image if(!imagepng($image,'hello.png')) echo "boo"; if(!imagedestroy($image)) echo "2"; if(!imagedestroy($background)) echo "3"; if(!imagedestroy($im_temp)) echo "4"; } EDIT: My question is how to get the orginal image reized so it fits into the 140 x 120 image that is processed with the rounded edges?

Can I solve that? I can't seem to find the solution.

  • Please help me correct the small bugs in this image editor

    - by Alex
Hi, I'm working on a website that will sell hand made jewelry and I'm finishing the image editor, but it's not behaving quite right. Basically, the user uploads an image which will be saved as a source and then it will be resized to fit the user's screen and saved as a temp. The user will then go to a screen that will allow them to crop the image and then save it to it's final versions. All of that works fine, except, the final versions have 3 bugs. First is some black horizontal line on the very bottom of the image. Second is an outline of sorts that follows the edges. I thought it was because I was reducing the quality, but even at 100% it still shows up... And lastly, I've noticed that the cropped image is always a couple of pixels lower than what I'm specifying... Anyway, I'm hoping someone whose got experience in editing images with C# can maybe take a look at the code and see where I might be going off the right path. Oh, by the way, this in an ASP.NET MVC application. Here's the code: using System; using System.Drawing; using System.Drawing.Drawing2D; using System.Drawing.Imaging; using System.IO; using System.Linq; using System.Web; namespace Website.Models.Providers { public class ImageProvider { private readonly ProductProvider ProductProvider = null; • print CSS still showing some background images when printing

    - by RyanP13
I am receiving some strange begaviour in IE6 when printing a page. For some reason it is printing out parts of a CSS background image sprite. I have overridden all background-image declarations with: * {background-image:none !important;} But to no avail. I didn't think background images were supported by default anyways so this is a new one on me.

  • Div, Background Image, and Image Map

    - by Coolmoondog
On a web page I'm creating, I have a div with a background image. I overlay some text over the image that I'll be changing frequently, so that's why I'm using a background image and real text instead of an img tag that contains the text. The background image contains some click-able areas, so I need an image map. I think the best way to do this is to have another overlay div with a transparent image, and have an image map for the transparent image that corresponds to the background area click-able areas. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way?

    - by larsks
I've used Blueprint to prototype a very simple page layout...but after reading up on absolute vs. relative positioning and a number of online tutorials regarding vertical positioning, I'm not able to get things working the way I think they should. Here's my html: <div class="container" id="header> <div class="span-4" id="logo"> <img src="logo.png" width="150" height="194" /> </div> <div class="span-20 last" id="title"> <h1 class="big">TITLE</h1> </div> </div> The document does include the blueprint screen.css file. I want TITLE aligned with the bottom of the logo, which in practical terms means the bottom of #header. This was my first try: #header { position: relative; } #title { font-size: 36pt; position: absolute; bottom: 0; } Not unexpectedly, in retrospect, this puts TITLE flush left with the left edge of #header...but it failed to affect the vertical positioning of the title. So I got exactly the opposite of what I was looking for. So I tried this: #title { position: relative; } #title h1 { font-size: 36pt; position: absolute; bottom: 0; } My theory was that this would allign the h1 element with the bottom of the containing div element...but instead it made TITLE disappear, completely. I guess this means that it's rendering off the visible screen somewhere. At this point I'm baffled. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

  • CSS sliding door background image problem.

    - by ethyreal
I noticed I am not the first to ask about CSS sliding doors. However this seems (at least to me) to be a rather odd problem which I have not seen an answer for. Trying to create a simple rounded corner link button: html: <a href="#" class="link_button"><span>Add A New Somthing</span></a> css: .link_button { background: transparent url('img/backgrounds/bg-buttonRight.png') no-repeat scroll top right; color: #444; display: block; float: left; font: normal 12px arial; height: 41px; margin-right: 6px; padding-right: 14px; text-decoration: none; } .link_button span { background: transparent url('img/backgrounds/bg-buttonLeft.png') no-repeat top left; display: block; line-height: 31px; padding: 5px 0 5px 14px; } .link_button:active { background-position: bottom right; color: #000; outline: none; } .link_button:active span { background-position: bottom left; padding: 6px 0 4px 18px; } results: The two images are overlapping, which is what I want, but why the discoloration? Why would one be darker? I tried using png jpg, gif, with and without transparency. I posted the code here, along with another attempt using only one jpg instead of two, but still the same results. Did I miss something? Thanks in advance.

  • My button background seems stretched.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Hi, I have a button as made for you to see here. Looks fine, right? Well on the live site, euroworker.no/shipping it seems stretched. Renders fine in Chrome, IE and Safari, I thought it might have been a FF issue, but loaded the fiddle into FF and seems fine. Quick ref CSS and html: #fortsett_btn { background-image: url(http://euroworker.no/public/upload/fortsett.png?1269434047); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:left; background-color:none; border:none; outline;none; visibility: visible; position: relative; z-index: 2; width: 106px; height: 25px; cursor:pointer; }? And HTML <button type="submit" class="submit" id="fortsett_btn" title="Fortsett" value="">&nbsp;</button>? I wonder what's up with it.

  • Desktop background won't change until restart

    - by Ben
I'm new to Ubuntu and indeed Linux systems. I have 11.04 installed on my laptop. Here's the problem. When i select a picture for the desktop background, it says that Desktop Background has been changed but the changes do not apply right away. It is only after I have restarted the system that the changes will appear. This did not happen before. When i first started using this OS a few months ago the changes applied immediately. So what have i done that made this start acting wonky. Thank you for any help.

  • Unity greeter background on Xubuntu 12.04

    - by user67594
I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 and using the Unity greeter with LightDM. Everything works well except for I can never change the background. I've tried editing the .conf file, editing the gsettings as the lightdm user, even compiling an override file for com.canonical.unity-greeter. All of these fail, and I end with a dark purple background. I was able to get rid of the grid using gsettings, but that's about it. I've enabled switching user backgrounds, but that never works. I'm wondering whether this is Xfce/Xubuntu specific, or a bug.

  • mobile device - different background - media query not working

    - by AMC
Live site. This is my first attempt at utilizing a different CSS for mobile devices vs. regular screens. To do this, I'm using- @media only screen and (min-device-width : 320px) and (max-device-width : 480px) { background: url('img/background.jpg') no-repeat center center fixed; background-size: cover; height: 100%; } However, it doesn't seem to be working (I can only test on iPhones). Any ideas as to why that may be? I've also tried @media all to no avail.
