    Here are the specs to put things into context: ECS P4M800PRO-M478 (V1.0) Intel P4 "Northwood" 2.8C GHz (HT) Socket 478 2x 512 MB PC2-4200 DDR2-533 RAM Visiontek Radeon HD 3650 512 MB DDR2 AGP Maxtor 120 GB SATA HDD The Best Power 500 W ATX PSU Anyways, it's not booting Windows XP SP3 properly. Specifically, there is a sound when it fails to boot and the computer automatically restarts. You can listen to the sound here. What could be the problem?

  • Processor with higher FSB than motherboard can support.

    Hi all, Please redirect me if there is a similar question, but I have an ECS P4VXASD2+ (V5.0) motherboard, which supports a 533 MHz FSB. I want to put in a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz processor (Socket 478) with an FSB of 800 MHz. Would this be possible? Would the FSB of the processor just be limited to 533 MHz? Thanks in advance.

I want to find a way to profile the various things it does when it starts up so I can begin tuning it a bit. Any good software or other recommendations for this process?

I'm watching and it seems to stick around 50% CPU "us" which I assume means usage.

Also, I have an old laptop with a 2 Ghz Pentium M with 1 GB of RAM. I believe that this will be able to handle 1 stream (as it currently does with non-QAM content under XP MCE. Would it also be able to handle 2 streams?

    My computer stopped working the other day, I came down and it was kind of chriping away then when I restarted it it only did the same thing, I unplugged everything not needed and it did nothing at all, I thought maybe powersupply but when I took cover off the green light on MB was on and powersuppy is making little buzz sound, but nothing happens when I turn com on other than the green light on MB flickers a bit, I checked memory in other com and it works fine, love to be able to fix with as litttle cost as possible, hope someone here can help... P4-640 (3.2E GHz, 800 FSB, L2:2MB, EM64T, HT)

    I'm trying to set up my brother–who has a PPC Mac with 1 GHz processor and 256 MB RAM–with a Linux distro that would allow him to surf the web on the device. If anyone knows of this Mac, they also know that support has faded for the latest browsers, rendering the device essentially useless when it comes to the web.     I open these applications in my desktop computer: Visual Studio 2010 Professional IBM Lotus Notes Google Chrome And when it is idle for an hour and I restore the windows, the user interface responds very slowly. My computer auto-lock itself after being idle for 5 minutes. I also minimize the applications using a docklet (RocketDock). Why is it slowing down and how can I prevent it from slowing? My OS is Windows XP Professional SP3, Pentum(R) Dual Core @ 2.80 GHz, 1.99 GB of RAM.

    Hi all, Just recently, typing in forms on the internet has become rediculously slow. I'm on an oldish PC with low memory (1gb) and amd athlon XP 2800+ (2.08 ghz) and get an awesome 1.0 rating from windows :) Thing is though - it only just started happening. Was fine last week. Also, It doesn't only happen when heaps of other processes are open/running. I can have only one IE window up, after fresh reboot, and still happens. Any ideas why?

    :) I know I can base on tutorials that I can find on net, but there are confusing, and I know there are some of Postgres gurus here. My hardware: 2x Intel Xeon E5645 2,40 GHz / 32 GB of RAM / 2xSAS for pg_xlog (RAID1) + 3x2 SAS for rest (RAID10) + BBU and 512 MB of cache. It's gonna be used for one web project, with some big (relative term :P) tables (20mil+ of records). Server is dedicated to Posgtres service. I need help with configuring it - work_mem, effective_cache_size etc.
