• VSS causing crash in VS 2008

  We use Visual Studio 2008, with visual source safe v8. Lately, I seem to be getting a lot more crashes than usual, mainly when viewing history (comparing, etc.). • Xenserver boot error

  I'm trying to get Xenserver 5.5 running on a spare computer here, hardware specs: Intel Q6600, 4GB Ram, and Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R motherboard Xenserver itself installs fine onto a 150GB sata hdd, however it fails to boot whatsoever, giving this garbled mess: http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/9918/biosi.jpg it's not frozen because if I press enter it just prints a different garble and it also says "could not find kernel image". The strangest thing is if I put that hdd in my desktop and assign it to a VMWare desktop vm (under the ESX profile no less) it boots perfectly... leading me to believe there are no problems with the install or the hdd itself. From what I can tell the error seems to be occuring completely seperately to Xenserver, in the bootloader extlinux?. If there was a motherboard compatibility issue I would think it would also have manifested during installation, and the fact the problem seems to be with the booting into Xen makes me doubt this. Any ideas guys? (I'm using Xen because it can do PCI passthrough without VT-d.)

• No "Terminal Services" branch in "Group Policy Object Editor"

  Hi, We have several identical several servers in a hosting company. They run Windows 2003 R2 Std SP2 64bit. The servers are not in a domain. We have recently received a new server with the same configuration and hardware. However, the new server is different in some way. When we run "gpedit.msc /s" there are much less options in the tree than the other servers. Specifically we are missing the configuration of "Terminal Services". Many other items are missing under "Administrative templates" and "Windows components". • HP Color LaserJet 2605dn color alignment issue

  We have a HP Color LaserJet 2605dn at work that recently lost its mind. The red and blue colors are offset from where they should be and producing a rather trippy 3D look. I've performed a manual calibration through the menus and poked at just about everything I could find. These toner cartridges are not new (as you can see they're about 50% used) but only just recently started this problem. They were working great up until this error appeared. It happens on mac, pc, and via the printer menu printouts so I don't think it's a driver problem. The printer has been restarted and reset and is running the newest firmware. Anyone have any ideas? • Running "Rebuild Index" maintenance plan with "Online indexing"

  Hi I am using Windows Server 2003 SP 2 and SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition I am creating a "Rebuild Index" job for a particular database and I am successfully able to run the job. But when I try to enable the "Keep index online while rebuilding" option, the job does not execute successfully and throws out errors. I have attached the screenshots. • Ubuntu 10.04 server crash

  I'm running an Ubuntu 10.04 (x64) as a web/mysql server. The server became unresponsive to SSH, Ping, HTTP etc. and the technician with physical access to the machine sent me this screengrab here: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/389/img00062201012211332.jpg from the connected monitor before he rebooted (and the situation is fixed). I'm not sure what log this information is kept in as I can't find the text after checking the logs after reboot. Can anyone help me to investigate what happened to try and ensure it doesn't happen again? Thanks

• Memory usage on debian webserver keeps going up

  my webserver is running apache 1.3.x for a PHP application, along with mysql on the same machine. Most of the time it runs fine, CPU usage still with nice margin, but somehow memory usage keeps growing throughout uptime. While it looks like it is chunked from time to time, I've had moments my server going down because it's out of memory. Restarting apache or mysql only reduced memusage by 100M. Attached is an overview of monthly memory usage. • Where can I find "system proxy settings"?

  Where are these system proxy settings? I noticed my connection has been slow for a while, then I checked the connection settings and was surprised there were set a proxy, but I cant see what exactly it is using. Where can I check which IP it was routing the connection for me ? Unless new firefox version has set that "system proxy" to default?

• Getting PHP to work with apache to run .php files through browser

  I have VPS running Debian 5.0 (I think) and I would like to get it to run PHP files. I was told it needed to be configured with Apache. I tried entering the command apt-get install apache2 php5 libapache2-mod-php5. But there was no change.   Hi, Im using eAccelerator 0.9.5.2, CentOS 5.3, lighttpd 1.4.22 But because eAccelerator is cached in RAM, I needs too much RAM. So Im trying to cache in hard disk. • Installing Solaris with Window. Disk partitioning problem.

  I am running windows and want to install the solaris but having hard time while using installer. I have 1 primary partition of 40GB and one extended partition. Extended partition have 4 logical drive. Solaris disk management window show only two partition one is of 40GB(Primary) and second is Extended partition. Can i convert a logical drive into primary partition( I have one free of 25 GB).   Hello, i need a recomendation on what hardware (PC) to buy in order to achieve this task: I have a webserver (WAMP) running in my laptop, this server has a webapp who can manage information from a user. In a few words, a user enter in my webserver and a php script ask gim for a mensage who get store in a MYSql database, in other hand, inside the same PC there is a flash running with a frontend who take this mensages and shows it. • Windows 2003 - RAS service - VPN client can only connect to server, not internal network

RAS service is configured with static IP pool on the same subnet of internal network (10.10.0.x). The problem is when a client connect to server, client can connect to server(10.10.0.10), but cannot connect to another host locate in internal network (10.10.0.11) even cannot ping to 10.10.0.50. RAS configured with IP routing enabled, client connect with options: Use default gateway on remote network. I'm messed up and can not figure out what wrong. Please help me T_T. TIA, giobuon

• Editor that supports renaming tabs for untitled docs?

  I sometimes need to copy/paste text into two windows and compare the contents for a quick hack, ie. without having to save both documents to disk, and display the two docs side-by-side vertically so I can scroll them independantly (WinMerge doesn't seem to support independent scrolling.)
