  • How to obtain dependency metrics from Java source code?

    For an assignment we have to extract some software metrics from the Hibernate project. We have to extract the afferent coupling and efferent coupling metrics (dependency fan-in, fan-out) from each revision of each package in Hibernate. Some tools were provided which are able to extract these metrics, such as ckjm and JDepend. Other tools I have checked were Sonar, javancss and AOP. There is also the Metrics Eclipse plugin which I didn't get to work either. What these tools have in common, as far as I can see, is that they all operate on bytecode (*.class files). This is a problem, because I have to build every revision from source in order to run, say, JDepend on it. Older revisions won't build because my development stack is too recent. What I would like to do is to do this kind of analysis on source files so that I don't have to build each revision. Is this possible? Or is there a good reason why all these tools only operate on bytecode?

    Hello, I am Patrick Niedzielski, a programmer for the Free Software 3D adventure game Humm and Strumm. I'm working on a minimal Unicode character class in C++. I currently have an array of four bytes representing a UTF-8 sequence. On GNU/Linux, I can just convert to UTF-32 with iconv(), but on Windows, I cannot do this. Is it possible to convert the array to a single code point? Thanks, Patrick

  • How can I obtain raw data from a CVImageBuffer object.

    Hi, I'm trying to use cocoa to grab images from a webcam. I'm able to get the image in RGBA format using the QTKit and the didOutputVideoFrame delegate call, and converting the CVImageBuffer to a CIImage and then to a NSBitmapImageRep. I know my camera grabs natively in YUV, what I want is to get the YUV data directly from the CVImageBuffer, and proccess the YUV frame before displaying it. My question is: How can I get the YUV data from the CVImageBuffer? thanks.

  • How would I / could I obtain an reasonably comprehensive list of domain names?

    I know that domain names are constantly changing, and I know there are a lot of them, but there is clearly a region of the domain name space which is stable. How would I go about getting a list, even a very big one? Such a thing must logically exist, even if it is in a distributed form, because the web's DNS servers resolve names to IP addresses. So in theory if I could poll all the DNS servers in the world at a moment in time I would have the complete list of mapped names. Is there a practical way of doing that? As an aside, does anyone have any good estimates of how many domain names exist at the moment?

All these files were saved with the .plist extension. The same directory contains several JPG and PNG files.     I'm trying to create a tool which will help my team perform code reviews on a more regular basis without it's usual massive overhead. At the moment the manual process involves using Team Foundation Sidekicks to identify the Changesets and then exporting that to excel to filter the results to find which items need to be reviewed (e.g. code files). I've heard mention of using a TFS API, but found very little help online possibly because I was asking google 'the wrong questions'.

    I'm making an xml parser to parse xml reports from different tools, and each tool generates different reports with different tags. For example: Arachni generates an xml report with <arachni_report></arachni_report> as tree root tag. nmap generates an xml report with <nmaprun></nmaprun> as tree root tag. I'm trying not to parse the entire file unless it's a valid report from any of the tools I want. First thing I thought to use was ElementTree, parse the entire xml file (supposing it contains valid xml), and then check based on the tree root if the report belongs to Arachni or nmap. I'm currently using cElementTree, and as far as I know getroot() is not an option here, but my goal is to make this parser to operate with recognized files only, without parsing unnecessary files. By the way, I'm Still learning about xml parsing, thanks in advance.

  • In Java, is there a way to obtain the command line parameters even if main() didn't save them?

    We have a program with a main() that parses certain CLPs but does not save them anywhere. I then have my own plug-in code that needs access to the original CLPs (so I can transmit more parameters) for it. However, I cannot change main() I saw that there is apparently a way to do this in C#, I'm looking for an equivalent Java solution on Linux. UPDATE: Obviously, I'm aware of how main() works. Unfortunately, I cannot change the existing application or the way it is invoked (except for CLPs). I can only access via a sandboxed plugin code. My question is whether there is a way to get the command line (rather then the environment variables with -D) that the JVM was invoked with.

    I know that it's possible to get this information - Intel's own TurboBoost sidebar gadget appears to use an ActiveX control to determine the current clock speed of an i3/i5/i7 CPU when TurboBoost is active. However, I'm wanting to do this programmatically in C# - obtaining the CurrentClockSpeed value from WMI tops out at the set maximum clock speed of the CPU, so in TurboBoost mode, it doesn't report the current actual clock speed.

    The task is to create event handlers in runtime. I need the one method to be called with different parameter value for different events. The events and their number are only known in runtime. So I'm trying to generate dynamic methods, each of which will be assigned to some event, but in general they all just pass some value to an instance method and call it. It would be great if something similar could be done the easier way. I mean passing some value at subscribing stage and then obtaining it when the event is triggered.     I saw a reference on another question to a unique commit id auto-generated by CVSNT that marks each commit. I think most people in my department are using CVSNT or frontends to it. I found commit identifiers described in the CVSNT manual, but there is no explanation about how to determine what the CVSNT commit identifier is for a particular revision of a file. Is there a way to do this? I'd like to find out what commit identifiers are being generated for other people's checkins so I can group together the files involved in their commits.

    I always thought that varibales are mapped to stack locations once your Java source is compiled; additionally, they may include the info about the variable names and their scope in classfiles, but that's optional AFAIK. The question is - how do my Eclipse/IDEA IDEs allow me to set a watch expression containing the local variable name? To me, it's hard to understand :)

    Hi! I had develop an intranet on CakePHP witch in one part generates a custom PDF using DOMPDF. The problem is that i have a memo field (mysql text) witch i print after getting the result from PHP nl2br function. The problems is that in some ocasions, this text is too long (even on font-size: 6px) and i need some way to make a page break (get again de header, and footer etc)... or maybe a nice way to get a second column to continue with the text inside. any ideas? thanks so much
