  • Oneliner-question

    - by sid_com
    I proudly present a solution to the problem: perl -00 -F"\n" -anE '$_ = ( split / /, $F[1] )[0]; if ( !/error/ ) { $sum += $_; $c++ } } { say $sum / $c' file The problem: the first field of the second line of each paragraph if it is not error. How could I do this without the paragraph-mode? perl -anE 'say $F[0] if not /error/ and the second /\S+/ after /^$/' file

  • How to change bahaviour enter/backspace pressed in WYMEDITOR

    - by liysd
Hi all, In Google Chrome after pressing enter key in WYMEDITOR a new is created. How to change it? I would rather insert tag as it happens after shift-enter combination. (In fact shif-enter creates two ). Similar question concerns backspace pressed on the beginning of paragraph. How to change this behaviour to erase paragraph (or other) only when it is empty and do nothing otherwise. I'll be greatful for any hints.

  • HTML tags in mysql text field

    - by paracaudex
I'm creating a database with what I anticipate will be a long (perhaps several paragraphs for some tuples) attribute. I'm assigning it text instead of varchar. I have two questions: Should I give a maximum value for the text field? Is this necessary? Is it useful? Since the contents of this field will be displayed on a website in HTML, do I need to include paragraph tags for paragraph formatting when I enter records into mysql?

  • Problem printing google maps printing and using 'page-break-before' in IE8

    - by murdoch
Hi, I'm having an annoying problem trying to get an html page with a google map on it to print correctly, I have a google map with an <h2> above it all wrapped in a div and the div is set to 'page-break-before:always;' in the css so that the map and its heading always sits on a new page. The problem is that in IE8 only i can always see a large portion of the map rendered on the previous page when printed, also the part of the map that is visible on the previous page is that which is outside the visible bounds of the map. HTML: <div id="description"> <h2>Description</h2> <p>Some paragraph of text</p> <p>Some paragraph of text</p> <p>Some paragraph of text</p> </div> <div id="map"> <h2>Location</h2> <div id="mapHolder"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> // ... javascript to create the google map </script> </div> CSS: #map { page-break-before:always; } Here is a screen grab of what it renders like in IE8 http://twitpic.com/1vtwrd It works fine in every other browser i have tried including IE7 so i'm a bit lost, has anyone any ideas of any tricks to stop this from happening?

  • Need help with creating PDF from HTML using itextsharp

    - by Steven
I'm trying to crate a PDF out of a HTML page. The CMS I'm using is EPiServer. This is my code so far: protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { naaflib.pdfDocument(CurrentPage); } public static void pdfDocument(PageData pd) { //Extract data from Page (pd). string intro = pd["MainIntro"].ToString(); // Attribute string mainBody = pd["MainBody"].ToString(); // Attribute // makae ready HttpContext HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear(); HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; // Create PDF document Document pdfDocument = new Document(PageSize.A4, 80, 50, 30, 65); //PdfWriter pw = PdfWriter.GetInstance(pdfDocument, HttpContext.Current.Response.OutputStream); PdfWriter.GetInstance(pdfDocument, HttpContext.Current.Response.OutputStream); pdfDocument.Open(); pdfDocument.Add(new Paragraph(pd.PageName)); pdfDocument.Add(new Paragraph(intro)); pdfDocument.Add(new Paragraph(mainBody)); pdfDocument.Close(); HttpContext.Current.Response.End(); } This outputs the content of the article name, intro-text and main body. But it does not pars HTML which is in the article text and there is no layout. I've tried having a look at http://itextsharp.sourceforge.net/tutorial/index.html without becomming any wiser. Any pointers to the right direction is greatly appreciated :)

  • Jquery Sorting by Letter

    - by Batfan
I am using jquery to sort through a group of paragraph tags (kudos to Aaron Harun). It pulls the value "letter" (a letter) from the url string and displays only paragraphs that start with that letter. It hides all others and also consolidates the list so that there are no duplicates showing. See the code: var letter = '<?php echo(strlen($_GET['letter']) == 1) ? $_GET['letter'] : ''; ?>' function finish(){ var found_first = []; jQuery('p').each(function(){ if(jQuery(this).text().substr(0,1).toUpperCase() == letter){ if(found_first[jQuery(this).text()] != true){ jQuery(this).addClass('current-series'); found_first[jQuery(this).text()] = true; }else{ jQuery(this).hide(); } } else{ jQuery(this).hide();} }) } Been working with this all day and I have 2 Questions on this: Is there a way to get it to ignore the word 'The', if it's first? For example, if a paragraph starts with 'The Amazing', I would like it to show up on the 'A' page, not the 'T' page, like it currently is. Is there a way to have a single page for (all) numbers? For example, the url to the page would be something similar to domain.com/index.php?letter=0 and this would show only the paragraph tags that start with a number, any number. I can currently do this with single numbers but, I would like 1 page for all numbers.

  • Display one div if nothing is selected

  • xsl:template match doesn't find matches

    - by dmo
    I'm trying to convert some Xaml to HTML using the .NET XslCompiledTransform and am running into difficulties getting the xslt to match Xaml tags. For instance with this Xaml input: <FlowDocument PagePadding="5,0,5,0" AllowDrop="True" NumberSubstitution.CultureSource="User" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"> <Paragraph>a</Paragraph> </FlowDocument> And this xslt: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt" exclude-result-prefixes="msxsl" > <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <body> <xsl:apply-templates /> </body> </html> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="FlowDocument"> <xsl:apply-templates /> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Paragraph" > <p> <xsl:apply-templates /> </p> </xsl:template> I get this output: <html> <body> a </body> </html> Rather than the expected: <html> <body> <p>a</p> </body> </html> Could this be a problem with the namespace? This is my first attempt at an xsl transform, so I'm at a loss.

  • please help me to solve problem

    - by davit-datuashvili
first of all this is not homework and nobody tag it as homewrok i did not understand this porblem can anybody explain me?this is not english problem it is just misunderstanding what problem say Consider the problem of neatly printing a paragraph on a printer. The input text is a sequence of n words of lengths l1 , l2 , . . . , ln , measured in characters. We want to print this paragraph neatly on a number of lines that hold a maximum of M characters each. Our criterion of “neatness” is as follows. If a given line contains words i through j , where i = j , and we leave exactly one space between words, the number of extra space characters at the end of the line is M - j + i -(k=i,k< j,k++) lk , which must be nonnegative so that the words fit on the line. We wish to minimize the sum, over all lines except the last, of the cubes of the numbers of extra space characters at the ends of lines. Give a dynamic-programming algorithm to print a paragraph of n words neatly on a printer. Analyze the running time and space requirements of your algorithm.

  • Word2007 - Preventing mid-item line breaks in a list in a table

    - by Dan
It's not programming, but it's the paperwork you have to fill out ot get things to program. When you have a list with an item that's two lines long, and text above pushes it down such that a page break should fall between the two lines, Word pushes the item down so that both lines are on the following page - this is called Widow/Orphan Control and is an option on the Paragraph menu. When the list is inside of a table cell, however, this feature doesn't seem to work - which is what I'm looking to work around. Word doesn't push the item down automatically, so it breaks across two pages, as seen here: Solutions that have been tried: Playing with the options on the Paragraph tab: doesn't seem to do anything Changing the margins or text: this is a template and will need to always work Any ideas?

  • How do you use blank lines in your code ?

    - by Matthieu M.
There has been a few remarks about white space already in discussion about curly braces placements. I myself tend to sprinkle my code with blank lines in an attempt to segregate things that go together in "logical" groups and hopefully make it easier for the next person to come by to read the code I just produced. In fact, I would say I structure my code like I write: I make paragraphs, no longer than a few lines (definitely shorter than 10), and try to make each paragraph self-contained. For example: in a class, I will group methods that go together, while separating them by a blank line from the next group. if I need to write a comment I'll usually put a blank line before the comment in a method, I make one paragraph per step of the process All in all, I rarely have more than 4/5 lines clustered together, meaning a very sparse code. I don't consider all this white space a waste because I actually use it to structure the code (as I use the indentation in fact), and therefore I feel it worth the screen estate it takes. For example: for (int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) { if (i % 3 == 0) continue; array[i] += 2; } I consider than the two statements have clear distinct purposes and thus deserve to be separated to make it obvious. So, how do you actually use (or not) blank lines in code ?

  • How to remove line breaks (or carriage returns) only from certain parts of a block of text?

    - by Luke Allen
Whenever I copy formatted text from a PDF file which is formatted to have line breaks (or carriage returns), I need to find a way to remove these line breaks without removing the paragraph format. To do this I need to use RegEx (Regular expressions) to only remove the line breaks which aren't preceded by a period. So for example, if a string of text has a line break right after a period, that is obviously almost always a legitimate line break which will start a new paragraph. If a string of text has a line break mid-word or after a word with no period, it's simply part of the bad formatting I need to get rid of. My problem is that I don't know how to use RegEx to make it only remove the ^p tags in word or CRLF or line breaks in any format under the conditions that it omits ones following a period.

  • Merging and re-formatting paragraphs in Microsoft Word 2007

    - by thkala
After a copy/paste mishap in Microsoft Word 2007, I ended up with text looking like this: This line breaks up here continues here, and so on here, when it should all be in a single line without all the random whitespace. I confirmed that there are paragraph separators and extra whitespace between each line - probably due to hard-coded newlines in the original source. Is there a (preferrably easy) way to merge paragraphs in Microsoft Word? Is there a way to re-format a paragraph so that extraneous whitespace is removed? I can change the flush style, but the whitespace remains. I (obviously?) do not have any experience with Word, being more of a TeX person, but I have been searching Google and crawling the menus for a few hours and I have yet to find a solution...

  • Malzilla Tutorial #4 - how to get it working

    - by Sim
I am trying to understand the basic work flow of using Malzilla , and therefore doing the tutorials. But already in the first one, where you actually get to do something I am lost as it doesn't work for me at all, even though I follow it step by step. In the first paragraph where you have to concatenate the string and then translate it using the MiscDecoders->DecodeUCS2, I am getting not printable chars as a solution, after concatenating and using the decoder. In the second paragraph where you are told to run the script after adding the function-call at the bottom of the script, the Decoder tells me that he cannot handle the arguments.callee.toString() method and therefor wont run the script. How outdated are those tutorials and how can I get them to work?

  • Firefox not running jQuery for XHTML output

    - by ScottSEA
Okay, I did a crappy job of describing the issue in my previous post. I think the discussion got sidetracked from the core issue - so I'm going to try again. Mea Culpa to Elzo Valugi about the aforementioned thread. I have an XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="wtf.xsl"?> <Paragraphs> <Paragraph>Hi</Paragraph> </Paragraphs> Simple enough. I also have a stylesheet to create XHTML output: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes" doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" omit-xml-declaration="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/*"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>FF-JS-XHTML WTF</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="wtf.js"></script> </head> <body> <xsl:apply-templates /> </body> </html> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Paragraph"> <p> <xsl:apply-templates /> </p> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Last but not least, I have the following jQuery in toto (wtf.js, from the script tag in the stylesheet): $(function() { alert('Hiya!'); $('<p>Hello</p>').appendTo('body'); }); Extremely simple, but sufficient for the demonstration. When I run this in Internet Explorer, I get the alert 'Hiya!' as well as the expected: Hi Hello but when I run it in Firefox (3.0.1), I still get the alert, but the jQuery does not insert the paragraph into the DOM, and I just get this: Hi If I change the stylesheet to method="html" it works fine, and I get (along with the alert): Hi Hello Why doesn't Firefox run the jQuery with an XHTML document? Has anyone any experience with this problem? EDIT: ADDITIONAL INFO I can successfully insert elements into the documents this way in Firefox (method="xml"): var frag = document.createDocumentFragment(); var p = document.createElement('p'); p.appendChild(document.createTextNode('Ipsum Lorem')); frag.appendChild(p); $('body').append(frag); but I'm running into a similar problem with the .remove() method. It is looking more and more that Firefox doesn't construct a DOM from XML that jQuery can relate to, or somesuch.

  • Pure JSP without mixing HTML, by writing html as Java-like code

    - by ADTC
Please read before answering. This is a fantasy programming technique I'm dreaming up. I want to know if there's anything close in real life. The following JSP page: <% html { head { title {"Pure fantasy";} } body { h1 {"A heading with double quote (\") character";} p {"a paragraph";} String s = "a paragraph in string. the date is "; p { s; new Date().toString(); } table (Border.ZERO, new Padding(27)) { tr { for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { td {i;} } } } } } %> could generate the following HTML page: <html> <head> <title>Pure fantasy</title> </head> <body> <h1>A heading with double quote (") character</h1> <p>a paragraph</p> <p>a paragraph in string. the date is 11 December 2012</p> <table border="0" padding="27"> <tr> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> <td>5</td> <td>6</td> <td>7</td> <td>8</td> <td>9</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> The thing about this fantasy is it reuses the same old Java programming language technique that enable customized keywords used in a way similar to if-else-then, while, try-catch etc to represent html tags in a non-html way that can easily be checked for syntactic correctness, and most importantly can easily be mixed up with regular Java code without being lost in a sea of <%, %>, <%=, out.write(), etc. An added feature is that strings can directly be placed as commands to print out into generated HTML, something Java doesn't support (where pure strings have to be assigned to variables before use). Is there anything in real life that comes close? If not, is it possible to define customized keywords in Java or JSP? Or do I have to create an entirely new programming language for that? What problems do you see with this kind of setup? PS: I know you can use HTML libraries to construct HTML using Java code, but the problem with such libraries is, the source code itself doesn't have a readable HTML representation like the code above does - if you get what I mean.

  • XML transform element appearing in wrong place in document

    - by Mike
I am having some problems with an XML transform and need some help. The stylesheet should iterate through all suffix elements and place the contents without the suffix tag next to the last text node within its first ancestor quote-block element (see desired ouput). It works when only a single suffix is present, but not when 2 are present, when 2 are present it places both suffixes next to each other in the last text node of the first quote-block. Any ideas? I have tried limiting the selections to ancestor::quote-block[1] in various places but that doesn't have the desired effect.
