• MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification does not fire [iPhone]

  I'm running into a problem with the MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification notification. I've regisered to recieve the MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification notification and MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification but the first one never fires. Is this bug in Firmware OS 3.0 ? maybe fixed in 3.1 ? or ? Because my divice and similator is 3.0 maybe this is a bug ? My code : ... • ToolStrip control never fire Enter/Leave event??

  I created a movable panel in WinForms. I use a ToolStrip as a titlebar in the panel. I'll use the ToolStrip to move the panel as well as indicating the panel is "active" or not. So when the panel is active, I want to change the ToolStrip's BackColor to Red. The idea is capturing ToolStrip's Enter/Leave event to change the color, but it seems those events are never fired. Are those events truly never fired? Should I capture other events?

  I have a big div, and a small button inside the div. When the div is clicked, I want it to do something. When the button is clicked, I want it to do something else. $('#myDiv').click(OnDivClicked); $('#myButton').click(OnButtonClicked); Currently when the button is clicked, both OnDivClicked and OnButtonClicked are fired. • DoDragDrop disables MouseMove Events

  After having started a Drag & Drop operation by DragDrop.DoDragDrop(...) no more MouseMove Events are fired. I even tried AddHandler(Window.MouseMoveEvent, new MouseEventHandler(myControl_MouseMove), true); where the last parameter means I even opt in for handled events. No chance, seems like the MouseMove Event is never fired at all! Any way to still get MouseMove Events while using Drag & Drop? I'd like to Drag & Drop a control, while dragging this control it shall follow the mouse pointer. Any idea how to do this in this case?

  Hi, I am using the flex datagrid to allow the user to edit some data. My update process relies on a CollectionEvent of type update. Basically I catch this event package the values and update the database. However, if the user edits a cell then moves to edit a cell in the same row the value is updated but a collection event is not fired. Only when clicking out of the row the event is fired. Has anyone had experience with this. I have heard the datagrid is a little quirky is this one of those quirks or am I doing this all wrong? Any help appreciated.

  I've been following Apple's TableSearch code example, but it's not working for me and I think I'm doing everything the same way they did it. The method below should be fired whenever the user types anything into the search box, but it never gets fired for me, just on the sample app. I have the appropriate @interface ContactsTableVC : UITableViewController { in the header file. I'm not sure what I'm missing or where else to look. My NSLog never gets called. • Cleanup for control inside a FlowDocument

  I have a custom control that I use inside a FlowDocument. The control uses a System.Drawing.ImageAnimator to display transparent, animated GIF images. Why is this such a pain in the butt in WPF anyway? :P In my original implementation, this was causing memory leaks when a paragraph containing the control was being deleted from the document, because the ImageAnimator kept a reference to the control for event handling. I've now implemented a WeakEventManager pattern which seems to indeed fix the leak itself, but I would like to stop "OnFrameChanged" events from being fired if a particular animated GIF is not currently in the document, instead of relying on the garbage collector to eventually collect the control objects and my event manager to notice that there no longer are valid listeners to the event. Basically, I would like to take a more active role in this and have the control react to being removed from the FlowDocument. Is there some way to do this? I've been unable to find it. OnVisualParentChanged doesn't get fired, because the direct parent (a Paragraph) is unchanged.

  Is there any way to check what events have fired during the asp.net webforms page/control lifecycle? I know that I can manually add handlers for each event, but that seems a bit ... inefficient. Is there a visualiser, or a property that I can check that will tell me whether these events have fired? EDIT The reason I want to know this is that I am overriding the ViewState property of a custom control, and the viewstate disappears at some point, and I'd like to know at which point in the page lifecycle it is being overriden.

• How do I check if a user is authenticated with NickServ using POE::Component::IRC::State in Perl?

  I'm trying to test whether a user is registered on FreeNode. nick_info() doesn't seem to return information about this, so I want to use $irc-yield(whois = $nick); and then grab the irc_whois event's reply. The problem is that I want to wait until this event is fired, so I created a global variable $whois_result and wrote a sub like this: sub whois { my $nick = $_[0]; $whois_result = 0; $irc->yield(whois => $nick); while($whois_result == 0) { } return $whois_result; } with the irc_whois handler looking like: sub on_whois { $whois_result = $_[ARG0]; print "DEBUG: irc_whois fired.\n"; } Unfortunately, the event can't fire while the loop is running so this hangs. I'm sure there's a better way to do this, but I'm not familiar enough with this kind of programming to know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I want to understand event cycles. I have a form with a grid and textboxes. It has a grid, bound to DataTable, and textboxes bound to same table too. I'm trying to debug something and need to know how to identify ALL events fired in the form to see what may solve an issue for me. Anyhow, unless I explicitly subclass every class on my form, and override / attach to every event to my own event handlers, how can I get / listen to all events being fired during a certain action... Such as changing a "Selected" road in a DataGridView. It obviously updates its own "CurrentRow"... I need to know what / how to maybe FORCE a re-loading of SAME CurrentRow. Reason: during a form level "Edit Mode", and I change the content in another "Textbox" control, and reject changes, I need it to simulate the current "Record" is reloaded to go back to its original values.

  Hello, gcc 4.4.2 c89 I have a function that has to run (config_relays). It make a call to a API function called set_relay, then the code has to wait before continuing until the event for set_relay event has completed. The set_relay is any Async call. i.e. void run_processes() { switch() { case EV_RELAY_SET: break; } } void config_relays() { set_relay(); /* Wait until EV_RELAY_SET has fired */ /* Cannot do init_relay until set_relay event has fired - has to block here */ init_relay(); } I guess I could put the init_relay() in the switch. However, that event is used for other things and not just for initializing the relay. I would really like to handle everything in the config_relays function. In C# you can do this by using autoreset. • How can I capture the keystroke that triggers "CellEndEdit" on a DataGridView in C#?

  I have a DataGridView that is set to EditOnF2. I do some special processing of data in the CellEndEdit eventhandler that sets the value of the cell. I still want the functionality of the EditOnKeystrokeOrF2 of reverting to the original value when the Esc key is pressed. Unfortunately, at the CellEndEdit eventhandler, I don't see a way to tell what caused the CellEndEdit event to be fired. I only want to change the value of the cell if the Esc key is not pressed. How can I tell if it was or not? Edit: It is worth noting that the KeyDown event does not get fired when the cell is being edited, nor for the final ending keystroke. Edit2: I have tried the KeyPreview suggestion, but the form still does not capture the Escape key being pressed. Edit3: I've been experimenting with trying to get this working. I originally posted some of the following as a separate post, but feel it might be more relevant to include it here. I have a cell in a DataGridView that is now set to EditProgrammatically. To capture the keystroke that starts an edit, I am setting the cell.Value equal to the keystroke. However, this ruins the "Escape" functionality of the cell - when you press escape, instead of reverting to the original value, it reverts to the keystroke that I programmatically inserted into the cell. I believe that if I could set the "EditedFormattedValue" on a cell, this would be where I want to put my keystroke value, however this appears to be read only. How can I accomplish what I am attempting? An example to clarify: If the cell has a value of "54.3" in it, and I press the "9" key, it begins editing the cell and places a "9" there. If I hit Escape, instead of reverting to "54.3" it reverts to "9". What I want is for it to return to its original value of "54.3". So, I am trying to tackle this issue from both the beginning and the end. I think the real problem is that I am overwriting the original value and have no way to determine if I should revert it or not. Edit4: It looks like CellValidating might be worth using, but I am seeing strange behavior when I experiment with it. In a new project, I create the DataGridView and register for the various events and see that CellValidating is fired before the CellEndEdit. However, in my project where I am trying to get this to work, CellEndEdit is firing BEFORE CellValidating. Any ideas on what the difference might be?

  Hi, Say I have 4 classes ControllerClass MethodClass1 MethodClass2 MethodClass3 and each MethodClass has an asynchronous method DoStuff() and each has a CompletedEvent. The ControllerClass is responsible for invoking the 3 asynchronous methods on the 3 MethodClasses in a particular order. So ControllerClass invokes MethodClass1.DoStuff() and subscribes to MethodClass1.CompletedEvent. When that event is fired, ControllerClass invokes MethodClass2.DoStuff() and subscribes to MethodClass2.CompletedEvent. When that event is fired, the ControllerClass invokes MethodClass3.DoStuff() Is there a best practice for a situation like this? Is this bad design? I believe it is because I am finding it hard to unit test (a sure sign) It is not easy to change the order I have an uneasy, code-smell feeling about it What are the alternatives in a situation like this?

If I do this ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(BaseContentObject), new BaseContentObjectCommonPropertiesBinder()); then when in controller action parameter of type Tab appears, custom model binder is not fired. It gets fired if I do this: ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(Tab), new BaseContentObjectCommonPropertiesBinder()); But I don't want to go writing "n" number of Add statements in my global.asax.cs to associate all the derived classes with my custom model binder, do I? I don't know if I have any other option.

  Hi all, I got a strange issue today while working on ExtJS charts. I am trying to use some of the events for the chart when user clicks on the chart items. I found the following events are available: itemclick, itemdoubleclick, itemdrag, itemdragstart, itemdragend, itemmouseover, itemmouseout Here is my test chart where I have implemented all these events. Each event just create a list tag in my debuging console. The issue is, no matter what, itemdoubleclick do not get fired! what is the issue? Why is it not getting fired? xtype:'columnchart', width:600, height:350, id:'myChart', store: store, xField: 'month', yField: 'sales', listeners: { itemdoubleclick: function(o) { var dh = Ext.DomHelper; dh.append('consoleList', {tag: 'li', html: 'itemdoubleclick'}); } } In firebug console, I see that this event is registered. • PHP - Loop thru recordset and fire event each n rows

  I'm looking for the right logic to loop thru a recordset and fire an event each n times. Searching on Google i've found some discussion on similar situations, but it seems that solutions don't fits my needs. Let's say i have a recordset of 22 rows. I want to loop thru each row and launch a function on the 4th, the 8th, the 12th and so on... Using the modulus operator as shown in this answer, if($i % 4 == 0), i get the event fired each 4 rows, but 22 its not a multiple of 4 so the event is fired till the 20th row and then nothing. Maybe i need to make a division counting rows in 'excess'? Since the recordset will be between 50 and 200 rows i think its not necessary run multiple query of 4 rows, am I wrong? Thanks in advance!

• Why use event listeners over function calls?

  I've been studying event listeners lately and I think I've finally gotten them down. Basically, they are functions that are called on another object's method. My question is, why create an event listener when calling the function will work just fine? Example, I want to call player.display_health(), and when this is fired, the method player.get_health() should be fired and stored so that display_health() has access to it. Why should I use an event listener over simply calling the function? Even if display_health() were in another object, this still doesn't appear to be a problem to me. If you have another example that fits the usage better, please let me know. Perhaps particular languages don't benefit from it as much? (Javascript, PHP, ASP?)

• Swing Timer in Conjunction with Possible Long-running Background Task

  I need to perform a task repeatedly that affects both GUI-related and non GUI-related objects. One caveat is that no action should performed if the previous task had not completed when the next timer event is fired. My initial thoughts are to use a SwingTimer in conjunction with a javax.swing.SwingWorker object. The general setup would look like this. class { timer = new Timer(speed, this); timer.start(); public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { SwingWorker worker = new SwingWorker() { @Override public ImageIcon[] doInBackground() { // potential long running task } @Override public void done() { // update GUI on event dispatch thread when complete } } } Some potential issues I see with this approach are: 1) Multiple SwingWorkers will be active if a worker has not completed before the next ActionEvent is fired by the timer. 2) A SwingWorker is only designed to be executed once, so holding a reference to the worker and reusing (is not?) a viable option. Is there a better way to achieve this?
