• Eclipse Javadoc tooltip help doesn't show classes' supertypes and interfaces

  I'm talking about the tooltip that pops up when you hover your mouse over a class in your source (which also helps with intellisense and auto completion), which describes what a class/method/etc does. I find it very annoying that it doesn't show what superclass the class (being described) extends or what interfaces it implements. Is there a way to make eclipse show the additional information?

  Hello, i am using the Eclipse RCP trayitem, which is described in Vogellas tutorials here: http://www.vogella.de/articles/RichClientPlatform/article.html#systemtray The requirement now is not only to show the name of the app in the tooltip but also a percentage while doing lengthy operations. I understand that the trayitem attribute is a private from ApplicationWorkbenchWindowAdvisor, so I added a getter and setter method. The only thing missing is a possibility to access the trayitem instance from my ProgressMonitorDialog instance. Can you tell me, how you would solve this puzzle? Thanks

  Hi all, I have quite the process that we go through in order to display some e-mail communications in our application. • creating a tooltip for a line drawn on cartesiandatacanvas in flex

  I am trying to draw a line on cartesiandatacanvas. While I am able to draw lines easily using the canvas.moveTo and canvas.lineTo methods, I cannot provide a tooltip to the line if I use that functionality. I have tried creating a label(when ever I draw a line) and adding a tooltip to it but since I show the lines in a 10*10 grid both vertical and horizontal there is a overlap and it is confusing. So now I am trying to create a line object that extends shape or UIComponent. I cannot add this object to canvas using the addChild method it does not work. The addDataChild method works but it messes with the positioning of the line. Can someone help with a solution to this. Simply put I want to draw lines on a datacanvas and add tooltips to them.   I'm writing a custom TreeView from ScrollableControl. I decided to show tooltips when mouse is hover nodes with text too long to display. I find out when tooltips are shown, user would not be able to click the node to select it, because (I think) he's clicking the tooltip window, not my control. Is there any easy solutions? As I can see System.Windows.Forms.TreeView don't have this problem. Thanks!

Edit: Just tested a few more trick which doesn't work. 1. Turn of aero 2. Hibernate 3. Switch main display to external display and switch back. 4. Change resolution

  Right now I have a RadToolTip inside of a RadGrid. The RadGrid displays a field from the datasource called "Value". The RadToolTip displays the same thing. I want to add another RadGrid inside of the RadToolTip. The function setting up the datasource of that second RadGrid should take "Value" as a parameter? How do I do that? • How to create StackedBarSeries with custom tooltip without losing standard colors

  I have a StackedBarSeries in Silverlight 4 charting (latest release). I have created a DataPointStyle called MyDataPointStyle for a custom tooltip. By itself this breaks the standard palette used for the different bars. I've applied a custom palette - as described in David Anson's blog to the chart. However when I have the DataPointStyle set for my SeriesDefinition objects it does not use this palette. I'm not sure what I'm missing - but David specifically says : ... it enables the use of DynamicResource (currently only supported by the WPF platform) to let users customize their DataPointStyle without inadvertently losing the default/custom Palette colors. The expected behaviour for a TreeView control is that, if ShowNodeToolTips is set to false, then, when a label for a tree node exceeds the width of the control (or, more accurately, it's right hand edge is past the right hand edge of the client area), then a tooltip is shown above the node showing the full item's text. I'd like to disable that, because the above semantic doesn't always work, depending on what the treeview is contained within. So I have rolled my own, and got the tooltips to work (and line up better than the default one!) - but I would like to be able to disable the 'default' behaviour for situations where it would work natively. So, can anyone point me in the right direction as to which message to post to the TreeView in order to disable that behaviour? I have looked at the windows control reference, but couldn't find anything that looked like it might be the one. Thanks Matt

• Tooltips with infinite timeout?

  I'm thinking of setting the timeout on all my tooltips in a WinForms application to infinity (or an extremely large value). The motivation is that it's annoying for the user if the tooltip disappears while I'm still reading it, without providing any extra value whatsoever as far as I can tell. Normally I wouldn't ask something like this on StackOverflow, but the overwhelming majority of all software sets timeouts on tooltips, so it makes me wonder whether perhaps there is some important consideration I'm missing? Or is this just an old convention that nobody gives further thought to? If you would hate infinite timeout as opposed to a short timeout, please explain why. (If you just think tooltips are a bad idea altogether then that's a separate consideration; this question is specifically about the infinite timeout.)
