  • Function pointers with default parameters in C++

    - by user308926
    How does C++ handle function pointers in relation to functions with defaulted parameters? If I have: void foo(int i, float f = 0.0f); void bar(int i, float f); void (*func_ptr1)(int); void (*func_ptr2)(int, float); void (*func_ptr3)(int, float = 10.0f); Which function pointers can I use in relation to which function?

  • Function Pointer from base class

    - by camelord
    Hi there, i need a Function Pointer from a base class. Here is the code: class CActionObjectBase { ... void AddResultStateErrorMessage( const char* pcMessage , ULONG iResultStateCode); ... } CActionObjectCalibration( ): CActionObjectBase() { ... m_Calibration = new CCalibration(&CActionObjectBase::AddResultStateErrorMessage); } class CCalibration { ... CCalibration(void (CActionObjectBase::* AddErrorMessage)(const char*, ULONG )); ... void (CActionObjectBase::* m_AddErrorMessage)(const char*, ULONG ); } Inside CCalibration in a Function occurs the Error. I try to call the Function Pointer like this: if(m_AddErrorMessage) { ... m_AddErrorMessage("bla bla", RSC_FILE_ERROR); } The Problem is, that I cannot compile. The Error Message says something like: error C2064: Expression is no Function, that takes two Arguments. What is wrong? regards camelord

  • CLR 4.0 inlining policy? (maybe bug with MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)

    - by ControlFlow
    I've testing some new CLR 4.0 behavior in method inlining (cross-assembly inlining) and found some strage results: Assembly ClassLib.dll: using System.Diagnostics; using System; using System.Reflection; using System.Security; using System.Runtime.CompilerServices; namespace ClassLib { public static class A { static readonly MethodInfo GetExecuting = typeof(Assembly).GetMethod("GetExecutingAssembly"); public static Assembly Foo(out StackTrace stack) // 13 bytes { // explicit call to GetExecutingAssembly() stack = new StackTrace(); return Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); } public static Assembly Bar(out StackTrace stack) // 25 bytes { // reflection call to GetExecutingAssembly() stack = new StackTrace(); return (Assembly) GetExecuting.Invoke(null, null); } public static Assembly Baz(out StackTrace stack) // 9 bytes { stack = new StackTrace(); return null; } public static Assembly Bob(out StackTrace stack) // 13 bytes { // call of non-inlinable method! return SomeSecurityCriticalMethod(out stack); } [SecurityCritical, MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] static Assembly SomeSecurityCriticalMethod(out StackTrace stack) { stack = new StackTrace(); return Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); } } } Assembly ConsoleApp.exe using System; using ClassLib; using System.Diagnostics; class Program { static void Main() { Console.WriteLine("runtime: {0}", Environment.Version); StackTrace stack; Console.WriteLine("Foo: {0}\n{1}", A.Foo(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Bar: {0}\n{1}", A.Bar(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Baz: {0}\n{1}", A.Baz(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Bob: {0}\n{1}", A.Bob(out stack), stack); } } Results: runtime: 4.0.30128.1 Foo: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at ClassLib.A.Foo(StackTrace& stack) at Program.Main() Bar: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at ClassLib.A.Bar(StackTrace& stack) at Program.Main() Baz: at Program.Main() Bob: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at Program.Main() So questions are: Why JIT does not inlined Foo and Bar calls as Baz does? They are lower than 32 bytes of IL and are good candidates for inlining. Why JIT inlined call of Bob and inner call of SomeSecurityCriticalMethod that is marked with the [MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] attribute? Why GetExecutingAssembly returns a valid assembly when is called by inlined Baz and SomeSecurityCriticalMethod methods? I've expect that it performs the stack walk to detect the executing assembly, but stack will contains only Program.Main() call and no methods of ClassLib assenbly, to ConsoleApp should be returned.

  • Excel 2007 - Adding line breaks in a cell and no line over 50 characters

    - by Richard Drew
    I have notes stored in an excel cell. I add line breaks and dates every time I add a new note. I need to copy this to another program, but it has a line limit of 50 characters. I want a line break for each new date and for when each date's comment goes over 50 characters. I'm able to do one or the other, but I can't figure out how to do both. I'd prefer words not to be split up, but at this point I don't care. Below is some sample input. If needed for a SUBSTITUTE or REPLACE function, I could add a ~ before each date in my input as a delimiter. Sample Input: 07/03 - FU on query. Copies and history included. CC to Jane Doe and John Public 06/29 - Cust claiming not to have these and wrong PO on query form. Responded with inv sent dates and locations, correct PO values, and copies. 06/27 - New ticket opened using query form 06/12 - Opened ticket with helpdesk asking status 05/21 - Copy submitted to [email protected] 05/14 - Copy sent to John Public and [email protected] Ideal Output: 07/03 - FU on query. Copies and history included. CC to Jane Doe and John Public 06/29 - Cust claiming not to have these and wrong PO on query form. Responded with inv sent dates an d locations, correct PO values, and copies. 06/27 - New ticket opened using query form 06/12 - Opened ticket with helpdesk asking status 05/21 - Copy submitted to [email protected] om 05/14 - Copy sent to John Public and email@custome r.com

  • jQuery get Function Not Returning Data

    - by senfo
    I'm trying to use the jQuery get function to render the results of an HTML page in a div on my page. The result of the get function appears to be successful because the value of textStatus (in the following code block) is "success". The value of data, however, is always empty. $(document).ready(function() { $.get('http://www.google.com', function(data, textStatus){ $('#RSSContent').html(textStatus + ' ' + data); }); }); Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Note: The final code will query an RSS feed, which I plan on transforming and rendering as HTML in the RSSContent div. I simply used http://www.google.com for testing purposes.

  • Virtual Function Implementation

    - by Gokul
    Hi, I have kept hearing this statement. Switch..Case is Evil for code maintenance, but it provides better performance(since compiler can inline stuffs etc..). Virtual functions are very good for code maintenance, but they incur a performance penalty of two pointer indirections. Say i have a base class with 2 subclasses(X and Y) and one virtual function, so there will be two virtual tables. The object has a pointer, based on which it will choose a virtual table. So for the compiler, it is more like switch( object's function ptr ) { case 0x....: X->call(); break; case 0x....: Y->call(); }; So why should virtual function cost more, if it can get implemented this way, as the compiler can do the same in-lining and other stuff here. Or explain me, why is it decided not to implement the virtual function execution in this way? Thanks, Gokul.

My script as follow // JavaScript Document var CurrentDivIndex=0; var TimeOutValue; var btn; var TimeToFade = 1000.0; function ShowDivSlideShow() { try { if(CurrentDivIndex == 5) CurrentDivIndex=0; CurrentDivIndex++; //alert("Banner" + CurrentDivIndex); //alert(CurrentDivIndex); var Indexer=1; while(Indexer<6) { var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + Indexer); DivToShow.style.display = "none"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + Indexer); btn.setAttribute("class","none"); Indexer++; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + CurrentDivIndex); DivToShow.style.display = "block"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + CurrentDivIndex); btn.setAttribute("class","activeSlide"); // btn.className="activeSlide"; fadeIn(); TimeOutValue=setTimeout("ShowDivSlideShow()",6000); } catch(err) { alert(err) } } function ShowCustomDiv(CurrentDivIndexRec) { clearTimeout(TimeOutValue) CurrentDivIndex=CurrentDivIndexRec var Indexer=1; while(Indexer<6) { if(CurrentDivIndex==Indexer) { Indexer++; continue; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + Indexer); DivToShow.style.display = "none"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + Indexer); btn.setAttribute("class","none"); Indexer++; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + CurrentDivIndex); DivToShow.style.display = "block"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + CurrentDivIndex); btn.setAttribute("class","activeSlide"); btn.className="activeSlide" fadeIn(); } function ShowDivSlideShowWithTimeOut(CurrentDivIndexRec) { clearTimeout(TimeOutValue) CurrentDivIndex=CurrentDivIndexRec; var Indexer=1; while(Indexer<6) { if(CurrentDivIndex==Indexer) { Indexer++; continue; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + Indexer); DivToShow.style.display = "none"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + Indexer); btn.setAttribute("class","none"); Indexer++; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + CurrentDivIndexRec); DivToShow.style.display = "block"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + CurrentDivIndexRec); btn.setAttribute("class","activeSlide"); TimeOutValue=setTimeout("ShowDivSlideShow()",6000); } function ShowCustomDivOnClick(CurrentDivIndexRec) { clearTimeout(TimeOutValue) CurrentDivIndex=CurrentDivIndexRec; var Indexer=1; while(Indexer<6) { if(CurrentDivIndex==Indexer) { Indexer++; continue; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + Indexer); DivToShow.style.display = "none"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + Indexer); btn.setAttribute("class","none"); Indexer++; } var DivToShow=document.getElementById("Banner" + CurrentDivIndexRec); DivToShow.style.display = "block"; btn=document.getElementById("btnb" + CurrentDivIndexRec); btn.setAttribute("class","activeSlide"); fadeIn(); TimeOutValue=setTimeout("ShowDivSlideShow()",6000); } function setOpacity(level) { element=document.getElementById("Banner" + CurrentDivIndex); element.style.opacity = level; element.style.MozOpacity = level; element.style.KhtmlOpacity = level; element.style.filter = "alpha(opacity=" + (level * 100) + ");"; } var duration = 300; /* 1000 millisecond fade = 1 sec */ var steps = 10; /* number of opacity intervals */ var delay = 6000; /* 5 sec delay before fading out */ function fadeIn(){ for (i = 0; i <= 1; i += (1 / steps)) { setTimeout("setOpacity(" + i + ")", i * duration); } // setTimeout("fadeOut()", delay); } function fadeOut() { for (i = 0; i <= 1; i += (1 / steps)) { setTimeout("setOpacity(" + (1 - i) + ")", i * duration); } setTimeout("fadeIn()", duration); } //end of script Now I am very confused where to add : $('#slideshow').cycle({ cleartype: 1 // enable cleartype corrections }); or $('#fadingElement').fadeIn(2000, function(){ $(this).css('filter',''); }); so it will work...   • Jquery class changing works, but doesn't effect another function like it should

    - by Qwibble
    So I have content boxes that close and expand when you click an arrow. The content box has two classes for telling whether it is open or closed (.box_open, .box_closed). A hover function is assigned to box_open so when it is open and you hover over the header, the arrow appears. However, I don't want this to happen when the box is closed, as I want to arrow to remain visible when the box is closed. When the box closes, the box_open class is removed, but the function assigned to that class still works. Here's the jquery code for the two functions. You can also see them in the head of the demo below. // Display Arrow on Box Header Hover $(".box_open").hover( function () { $(this).find('a').show(); }, function () { $(this).find('a').hide(); } ); // Open and Close Boxes: $(".box_header a").click( function () { $(this).parent().next('.box_border').stop().toggle(); $(this).parent().toggleClass("box_open"); $(this).parent().toggleClass("box_closed"); return false; } ); Can anyone take a look at what the problem is? Here's the demo url: Demo Url

  • jQuery tag editor function

    - by Mad Hatter
    I'm using jQuery Tag Editor (http://blog.crazybeavers.se/wp-content/demos/jquery.tag.editor/) for a school project. Everything works perfect, but i'm not able to retrieve the array of tags that I added. This is my code: $("#allTags").click(function () { var tags = $("#tagEditor").tagEditor().getTags(); alert(tags); }); The array doesn't return anything. This is the code from the jQuery Tag Editor: (function ($) { $.fn.extend({ tagEditor: function (options) { var defaults = { separator: ',', items: [], className: 'tagEditor', confirmRemoval: false, confirmRemovalText: 'Do you really want to remove the tag?', completeOnSeparator: false, completeOnBlur: false, initialParse: true, } var options = $.extend(defaults, options); var listBase, textBase = this, hiddenText; var itemBase = []; this.getTags = function () { return itemBase.join(options.separator); }; ...

  • Intrinsics program (SSE) - g++ - help needed

    - by Sriram
    Hi all, This is the first time I am posting a question on stackoverflow, so please try and overlook any errors I may have made in formatting my question/code. But please do point the same out to me so I may be more careful. I was trying to write some simple intrinsics routines for the addition of two 128-bit (containing 4 float variables) numbers. I found some code on the net and was trying to get it to run on my system. The code is as follows: //this is a sample Intrinsics program to add two vectors. #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <xmmintrin.h> #include <stdio.h> using namespace std; struct vector4 { float x, y, z, w; }; //functions to operate on them. vector4 set_vector(float x, float y, float z, float w = 0) { vector4 temp; temp.x = x; temp.y = y; temp.z = z; temp.w = w; return temp; } void print_vector(const vector4& v) { cout << " This is the contents of vector: " << endl; cout << " > vector.x = " << v.x << endl; cout << " vector.y = " << v.y << endl; cout << " vector.z = " << v.z << endl; cout << " vector.w = " << v.w << endl; } vector4 sse_vector4_add(const vector4&a, const vector4& b) { vector4 result; asm volatile ( "movl $a, %eax" //move operands into registers. "\n\tmovl $b, %ebx" "\n\tmovups (%eax), xmm0" //move register contents into SSE registers. "\n\tmovups (%ebx), xmm1" "\n\taddps xmm0, xmm1" //add the elements. addps operates on single-precision vectors. "\n\t movups xmm0, result" //move result into vector4 type data. ); return result; } int main() { vector4 a, b, result; a = set_vector(1.1, 2.1, 3.2, 4.5); b = set_vector(2.2, 4.2, 5.6); result = sse_vector4_add(a, b); print_vector(a); print_vector(b); print_vector(result); return 0; } The g++ parameters I use are: g++ -Wall -pedantic -g -march=i386 -msse intrinsics_SSE_example.C -o h The errors I get are as follows: intrinsics_SSE_example.C: Assembler messages: intrinsics_SSE_example.C:45: Error: too many memory references for movups intrinsics_SSE_example.C:46: Error: too many memory references for movups intrinsics_SSE_example.C:47: Error: too many memory references for addps intrinsics_SSE_example.C:48: Error: too many memory references for movups I have spent a lot of time on trying to debug these errors, googled them and so on. I am a complete noob to Intrinsics and so may have overlooked some important things. Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Sriram.

  • Django multiple generic_inline_formset in a view

    - by Can Burak Cilingir
    We have a bunch of formsets: EmailAddressInlineFormSet = generic_inlineformset_factory( EmailAddress, extra=1, exclude=["created_by","last_modified_by"]) emailaddressformset = EmailAddressInlineFormSet( instance=person, prefix="emailaddress") # [ more definitions ] and, in the view, we process them as: emailaddressformset = EmailAddressInlineFormSet( request.POST, instance=person, prefix="emailaddress") # [ more definitions ] So, nothing fancy or unordinary. The unfortunate or unordinary fact is, we have 15 of these formsets, one for email addresses, other for phone numbers etc. so the view code is ugly and not-so-manageable. What would be the most unhackish way to handle this number of formsets in a single view? At the end -i guess- I'm looking for a class or a functionality like multiple_generic_inline_formset and open to all kind of suggestions or discussions.

  • using in-line asm to write a for loop with 2 comparisons

  • Refresh a jQuery function

    - by Toro
    Is possible refresh a function every x seconds or refresh it on single event? I explain: I have a function that make pagination on my website, inside every div that are "pages" I have some pictures where I have added LightBox. Everything works nice on the first div (page) but when I change the page it doesnt' work anymore. I tried to fix in this way: $('.pagination a').click(function () { initShadow(); }); In this way it work on the pageLoad and on the first page that I change, than it stop again. So I need to fix this issue, everytime I change the "page" I would like it works fine. Is possible to refresh a function every x second or to refresh it everytime I click on the pagination buttons?

  • getting the "this" that a function's caller was called with in JavaScript

    - by David Morrissey
    Is it possible to get the this that a function's caller was called with in JavaScript without passing this to the arguments in a way which supports IE as well as Firefox/Chrome et al? For example: var ob = { callme: function() { doSomething() } } function doSomething() { alert(doSomething.caller.this === ob) // how can I make this work? } ob.callme() I'm starting to suspect it's not, but I thought I may as well ask as it'd make my code much shorter and easier to read. Thanks for any information!

  • JavaScript function, which reads connections between objects

    - by Nikita Sumeiko
    I have a JavaScript literal: var members = { "mother": { "name" : "Mary", "age" : "48", "connection": { "brother" : "sun" } }, "father": { "name" : "Bill", "age" : "50" }, "brother": { "name" : "Alex", "age" : "28" } } Than I have a function, which should read connections from the literal above. It looks like this: function findRelations(members){ var wires = new Array(); var count = 0; for (n = 0; n < members.length; n++){ alert(members.length); // this alert is undefined if (members[n].connection){ for (i = 0; i < members[n].connection[0].length; i++){ var mw = new Array(); var destination = 0; for (m = 0; m < members.length; m ++){ if (members[m] == members[n].connection[0]){ destination = m; mw = [n, destination]; wires [count] = mw; count++; } } } } } return wires; } However, when I run this function, I get nothing. And the first alert, which is placed inside the function shows 'undefined' at all. findRelations(members); alert("Found " + wires.length + " connections"); I guess that's because of JavaScript literal. Could you suggest how to change a function or perhaps to change litteral to JSON array to get it work?! And at the end to get 'm' and 'n' values as numbers.

  • jQuery attach function to 'load' event of an element

    - by Miguel Ping
    Hi, I want to attach a function to a jQuery element that fires whenever the element is added to the page. I've tried the following, but it didn't work: var el = jQuery('<h1>HI HI HI</H1>'); el.one('load', function(e) { window.alert('loaded'); }); jQuery('body').append(el); What I really want to do is to guarantee that another jQuery function that is expecting some #id to be at the page don't fail, so I want to call that function whenever my element is loaded in the page. To clarify, I am passing the el element to another library (in this case it's a movie player but it could be anything else) and I want to know when the el element is being added to the page, whether its my movie player code that it is adding the element or anyting else.

  • jQuery.post dynamic data callback function

    - by FFish
    I have a script that requires quite e few seconds of processing, up to about minute. The script resizes an array of images, sharpens them and finally zips them up for the user to download. Now I need some sort of progress messages. I was thinking that with jQuery's .post() method the data from the callback function would progressively update, but that doesn't seem to work. In my example I am just using a loop to simulate my script: $(document).ready(function() { $('a.loop').click(function() { $.post('loop.php', {foo:"bar"}, function(data) { $("div").html(data); }); return false; }); }); loop.php: for ($i = 0; $i <= 100; $i++) { echo $i . "<br />"; } echo "done";

  • bind event handler on keydown listen function JavaScript jQuery

    - by user1644123
    I am trying to bind a handler to an event. The event is a keydown function. The handler will listen for hit variables to produce one of two conditions. The 1st condition (odd number of hits) will perform 1 function, the 2nd (even number of hits) will perform another function. To elaborate, the 1st function will scroll to one element, the 2nd will scroll to another element. My syntax may be the wrong approach, but it works for the 1st condition, but not the 2nd. I think I have the conditional statement in the wrong place. How can I rewrite this to work as intended? Thank you kindly, in advance! $(document).keydown(function(e) { switch (e.which) { case 37: break; case 38: break; case 39: break; case 40: //bottom arrow key var hits = 0; if (hits % 2 !== 0) { $('#wrap').animate({ scrollTop: $("#scrollToHere").offset().top }, 2800); } else { $('#wrap').animate({ scrollTop: $("#scroll2ToHere").offset().top }, 2800); } hits++; return false; break; } })? *I moved "var hits = 0;" to the top, but it only works! But is there a way I can reset the whole thing after every two hits? I want to reset because when there is a bug and if I press a 3rd time it scrolls to the very top of the page, where there is no element to make it scroll to the top. Why would it scroll to the top of the page if I never scripted it to do so?? *
