  • Customize iPhone view for iPad

    I have converted a very simple iPhone app to Universal app. Now I need to customize the view on the iPad to use a higher resolution image for the background, move and resize some labels, etc. How can I do it without changing the iPhone version? I can see that there is a new MainWindow-iPad.xib, but when I open in IB, it looks empty. Thanks.

    Hi I would like to implement a search functionality within my iPhone app which can search for terms within all the documents in the application. I believe I cannot use Apache Lucene directly since it is in Java. Can I use Lucy which is a C port of Lucene (not sure if Perl and Ruby would work on it)?     Is there any way to handle call events in IPhone? i.e. Log calls and sms in my app, block unwanted numbers, etc. I know the IPhone SDK doesn't provide that but I have been googling this and what I got was an app called iBlackList. Although it runs on jail-broken phones but it does my required functionality. I wonder how? Has anyone idea about how these tasks can be accomplished?

    I need to display 480 x 320 background image in OpenGL ES. The thing is I experienced a bit of a slow down in iPhone when I use 512 x 512 texture size. So I am finding an optimum case for rendering iPhone resolution size background in OpenGL ES. How should I slice the background in this case to obtain the best possible performance? My main concern is speed. Should I go for 256 x 256 or other texture sizes here?

    I am trying to build Crypto++ for iPhone but encountering issues. I managed to get it to build to the device by removing a few .asm files and test.cpp but two issues: 1) the simulator gets build errors relating to: {standard input}:13583:suffix or operands invalid for `call' 2) there are hundreds of warnings (kind of annoying) Has anyone gotten crypto++ to work on iphone and found a way to resolve these issues?

The documentation is pretty sparse when it comes to iPhone integration, but the calls to get users information looks a lot more light weight than the previous method of using FBConnect. So i would like to use it. I have seen a few posts about but none explain you you would implement the login button as we did previously with FBConnect?     Hi, I am new to iPhone development and really have no idea how to do what I am trying to implement. Here is my problem, I need to display the users current street and city as text in my iPhone app (See picture). I have seen many posts on stack overflow and other websites about how to do this but they are all just code examples. As I said before, I am a extreme beginner. I just need to show the MKReverseGeocoder and its output as text in my application. If someone could walk me through how/where to create the ReverseGeocoder and how to make it show up in my application I would be extremely grateful. I have searched for hours trying to find a beginner example but alas I cannot find one that lays it out step by step. I hope this can help me out.

  • I can't get mailto links to open the Mail app from Mobile Safari when using jQTouch. What could be w

    Hi all, I'm developing an iPhone web app using jQTouch, and it contains a simple mailto: link to a valid email address, which should launch the iPhone mail application when tapped—but it doesn't. If I visit a "normal" web page in Mobile Safari which contains the exact same link, and tap on it, I get the expected result: the mail app pops up with the correct email address in the To field. Here's the link HTML (with the address changed) just in case I'm going nuts and have made a stupid mistake, but it appears perfectly fine: <p><a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a></p> Has anyone come across this when using jQTouch? Or can anyone at least suggest a way that I can debug this? At the moment when I tap the non-working link it flashes red (the active link state) and absolutely nothing else happens.

    I have just uploaded my first app to iTunes Connect and noticed that my list of supported devices is appearing as follows... Device Requirements : Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. I've developed specifically for the iPhone and iPod Touch and have not yet done any testing on the iPad simulator. I therefore don't want the app submission testers to try running my app on an iPad and rejecting it because of some minor issue. I've looked at setting the required device capabilities in my info.plist, but that doesn't appear to allow me to restrict at a device level. Is this a by-product of building using the 3.1.3 SDK? Are apps built using this SDK automatically upscaled to work on the iPad?
