    For the past two nights we had a remote server shutdown unexpectedly. When rebooted we get the following message: Event Type: Error Event Source: EventLog Event Category: None Event ID: 6008 Date: 16/02/2011 Time: 09:10:43 User: N/A Computer: WELPLAN-1 Description: The previous system shutdown at 07:27:32 on 16/02/2011 was unexpected. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Data: 0000: db 07 02 00 03 00 10 00 Û....... 0008: 07 00 1b 00 20 00 42 02 .... .B. 0010: db 07 02 00 03 00 10 00 Û....... 0018: 07 00 1b 00 20 00 42 02 .... .B. Obviously this message doesn't help much, but what does all the hexadecimal mean? Will it help me track down the problem? Any pointers as to where to look?

  • Convert KVM virtual machine to LXC container

    I have 2 virtual machines (with Debian, using KVM) with virtual hard drives: /srv/kvm/ssh.img /srv/kvm/www.img Both have 3 partitions (/, /home, swap). I want to convert them in a RootFS usable with LXC (in order to use LXC instead of KVM). The only solution I have for the moment is: create a new RootFS copy /home partition into it reproduce the same configuration into it But is there an automated way to do it

  • Master Page: Dynamically Adding Rows in ASP Table on Button Click event

    In my previous post here, I wrote an example that demonstrates how are we going to generate table rows dynamically using ASP Table on click of the Button control. Now based on some comments in my previous example and in the forums they wanted to implement it within Masterpage. Unfortunately the code in my previous example doesn't work in Masterpage for the following main reasons: The Table is dynamically added within the Form tag and so the TextBox control will not be generated correcty in the page. The data will not be retained on each and every postbacks because the SetPreviousData() method is looking for the Table element within the Page and not on the MasterPage. The Request.Form key value should be set correctly since all controls within the master page are prefixed with the naming containter ID to prevent duplicate ids on the final rendered HTML. For example the TextBox control with the ID of TextBoxRow will turn to ID to this ctl00$MainBody$TextBoxRow. In order for the previous example to work within Masterpage then we will have to correct those three main reasons above and this post will guide you how to correct it. Suppose we have this content page declaration below:   <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainHead" Runat="Server"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainBody" Runat="Server"> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolder1" runat="server"> <asp:Button ID="BTNAdd" runat="server" Text="Add New Row" OnClick="BTNAdd_Click" /> </asp:PlaceHolder> </asp:Content> As you notice I've added a PlaceHolder control within the MainBody ContentPlaceHolder.   • Ubuntu Dual Screen Using Virtual Machine - AMD GPU

    I've been searching online and reading tutorials and etc about how to make my ubuntu VM dual screen(x86_64). I have first tried to run these commands: sudo aticonfig --initial -f which gave me the ouput of: sudo: aitconfig: command not found I then googled the output and followed these instructions that I tells me to install my ATI drivers onto my ubuntu. wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ati-driver-installer-11-5-x86.x86_64.run sudo sh ati-driver-installer-11-5-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/natty sudo dpkg -i *.deb sudo apt-get -f install sudo aticonfig -f --initial --adapter=all sudo reboot It all works well until I input sudo apt-get -f install which gives me the following output: sudo apt-get -f install Reading package lists...   • Mount exFAT partition in virtual guest machine

    I have a real Ubuntu 12.10 installation being virtualized under a Windows 8 host, by using the VBoxManage.exe internalcommands createrawvmdk method. I'm trying to mount an exFAT partition into the virtualized machine (which is the partition of shared work files), but even though I have fuse-exfat installed, and the partition is perfectly mountable while booting entirely into Ubuntu, I can't mount it while virtualizing it. 1- If I make a full vmdk image of the HDD, including all partitions, Ubuntu 12.10 "sees" the partition, and trying to mount it throws this error: Image: http://i.stack.imgur.com/AyUSn.png 2- If I make a machine with only the linux partitions, + the exFAT partition.   • Thread safe GUI programming

    I have been programming Java with swing for a couple of years now, and always accepted that GUI interactions had to happen on the Event Dispatch Thread. I recently started to use GTK+ for C applications and was unsurprised to find that GUI interactions had to be called on gtk_main. Similarly, I looked at SWT to see in what ways it was different to Swing and to see if it was worth using, and again found the UI thread idea, and I am sure that these 3 are not the only toolkits to use this model. I was wondering if there is a reason for this design i.e. what is the reason for keeping UI modifications isolated to a single thread. I can see why some modifications may cause issues (like modifying a list while it is being drawn), but I do not see why these concerns pass on to the user of the API. Is there a limit imposed by an operating system? Is there a good reason these concerns are not 'hidden' (i.e. some form of synchronization that is invisible to the user)? Is there any (even purely conceptual) way of creating a thread safe graphics library, or is such a thing actually impossible? I found this http://blogs.operationaldynamics.com/andrew/software/gnome-desktop/gtk-thread-awareness which seems to describe GTK differently to how I understood it (although my understanding was the same as many people's) How does this differ to other toolkits? Is it possible to implement this in Swing (as the EDT model does not actually prevent access from other threads, it just often leads to Exceptions)

  • Can't get virtual desktops to show up on RDWeb for Server 2012 R2

    I built a test lab using the Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview. The initial test lab has the following configuration (I have replaced our name with "OurCompanyName" because I would like it if Google searches for our name did not cause people to come to this site, please do the same in any responses) Physical hardware running Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview full GUI, acting as Hyper-V host (joined to the test domain as testVwHost.testVw.OurCompanyName.com) with the following VM's running on it VM running 2012 R2 Core acting as domain controller for the forest testVw.OurCompanyName.com (testDC.testVw.OurCompanyName.com) VM running 2012 R2 Core with nothing running on it joined to the test domain as testIIS.testVw.OurCompanyName.com A clean install of Windows 7, all that was done to it was all windows updates where loaded and sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /mode:vm was run on it A clean install of Windows 8, all that was done to it was all windows updates where loaded and sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /mode:vm was run on it I then ran "Add Roles and Features" from testVwHost and chose the "Remote Desktop Services Installation", "Standard Deployment", "Virtual machine-based desktop deployment". I choose testIIS for the roles "RD Connection Broker" and "RD Web Access" and testVwHost as "RD Virtualization Host" The Install of the roles went fine, I then went to Remote Desktop Services in server manager and wet to setup Deployment Properties. I set the certificate for all 3 roles to our certificate signed by a CA for *.OurCompanyName.com. I then created a new Virtual Desktop Collection for Windows 7 and Windows 8 and both where created without issue. On the Windows 7 pool I added RemoteApp to launch WordPad, For windows 8 I did not add any RemoteApp programs. Everything now appears to be fine from a setup perspective however if I go to https://testIIS.testVw.OurCompanyName.com/RDWeb and log in as the use Administrator (or any orher user) I don't see the virtual desktops I created nor the RemoteApp publishing of WordPad. I tried adding a licensing server, using testDC as the server but that made no difference. What step did I miss in setting this up that is causing this not to show up on RDWeb? If any additional information is needed pleas let me know. I have tried every possible thing I can think of and I am just groping around in the dark now.   • Working on a virtual machine as a developer

    In the company I'm currently working in, they decided that each developer will move to a VM desktop (Citrix/WinServer2012) an develop/test from there with restricted/no rights to install new software. The Server we will be working on are in a remote Datacenter. So i.e. if for some reason or another the internet brake down, we can't work till the connection is up again. As a developer I don't want to use windows as OS for my working/development environment as there is no need because we don't develop OS specific software. What good points could I raise in an argumentation against moving to the VMs beside the loss/restriction of freedom and the loss of connection to the internet?

It's often that I need to observe a set of property value changes (e.g. respond only when 2 or more specific values change). Is there a elegant way to 'subscribe' the handler so that it is only called one time? Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong in my design?
