Does anybody know if it is possible to change a setting so that the Windows XP Lock Screen is not centered, but let's say in right or left top/down corner or maybe even a give x or y coordinate?
Is it possible to print directly to two printers simultaneously? What I want to do is every time user prints a receipt it should print to PDF and to default printer. Is there any printer driver that does that?

Is it possible to use ntbackup.exe (Windows XP SP3, 32) with two incremental backup plans?
An example:
"My Documents": every day, incrementally to D:\My_Documents.bkf
Drive C: every month, incrementally to D:\All.bkf
As far as I understand it, ntbackup.exe marks files as having been backed up in the file system. Thus, two incremental backup plans would interfere in a bad way. So, I assume that the answer to my question is: No
But maybe I'm wrong...
When I record a movie in Windows Media Center, it records it again every time it shows up in the Guide listings again - days, weeks, or months later. The movies are not listed as a Series (Recorded TV - Schedules - Series). I found many matches for this problem on Google, and no solutions.

Hi,
I want to have multiple OS installations and I have been advised that chain loading using GRUB is a good way to handle this. I have looked at tutorials on the web but I still have some questions before I can start.
I want:
Windows XP: 20 GB. For running some school stuff and a game which does not work through WINE.
Xubuntu 9.04: 85 GB. My main OS.
Another Linux distribution: 15 GB . For experimenting and trying Linux distributions out.
I will:
Wipe and install various distributions quite often on the 15
Use dd to make a copy of my Windows partition after installing it and getting things to work as I like. My experience is that Windows needs to be re-installed maybe once per year to not get bloated and slow.
I have been told:
To use GRUB chain loading. It will make it easier when kernel upgrades are made in the Linux distributions, as they modify the GRUB boot-menu.
To my understanding I need to: (I might very well be mistaken)
Install Windows first.
Then install Xubuntu and let it write over the MBR with GRUB (I guess this is the default).
Get the GRUB on the MBR start Windows XP if I want to (it's done by default), start Xubuntu using the kernel of my choice or defer execution to the boot sector of my other Linux distribution. The actual chain loading will only occur when I want to start my experimental install of Linux.
I wonder:
Is step 3 above correct and a good way to handle this?
Is it also a good way to use chain-loading for both Xubuntu and my experimental Linux installation?
How do I get a Linux distribution to install the boot loader it comes with to the boot sector of its partition and not to the MBR?
If I can't get it to not touch the MBR. Then I could make a backup of the MBR using dd and then write it back after installing my experimental Linux installation. But then, how would I get the boot loader (lets say GRUB) into the boot sector of the experimental Linux installation? How would it work if said Linux installation gets a new kernel update and needs to update the GRUB menu?
I have over 500 rar files with lots of compressed ppt files in one directory. I would like to search each archive if archive has file prj_09hr23 in name and ppt extension.
What program should I use to extract only ppt files with prj_09hr23 in file name?
I have Windows XP Pro SP3 and I have 7z installed.
Thanks.
I tried to install Agnitum Outpost firewall, but the setup hung while installing network drivers.
Oddly, the NIC properties shows no connect string whatsoever, nor any services:

Device Manager shows problematic drivers as well:

I have a Windows XP computer with two monitors attached. The secondary monitor occasionally flickers off and then back on. It kind of looks like it is going into power saving mode, then immediately exiting.
I have tried swapping the two monitors, and this consistently happens on the whichever one is connected as the secondary one.

I'm remotely investigating issue with my friend's WIN XP computer. The browsers (Chrome and IE) won't show any pages but message with err_connection_reset in details.
I've tried to perform "telnet google.com 80" and send there "HEAD / HTTP/1.0" from console and everything went fine, but browsers refused to give me anything. I've checked for presence of firewalls and proxy servers in the settings, but nothing seems to be there. What else to check?

I read somewhere that the Ultimate Boot CD can diagnose computer problems. In this case would this program help me get my Windows XP back?
When I turn on the screen and hit "Start Windows Normally" or go to Safe Mode I get a flash of the WinXP logo and then it goes to this error page. Can you tell from this message is it a hardware or software issue?
Lately I've been using Visual Studio 2008 and about once a day, sometimes more it will lock up. What advanced techniques can I use to determine what is causing the problem? I believe that it's one of the plug-ins I'm using *cough*Resharper*cough* but I'd like to be sure. I've been losing work and I'd like to file a bug report somewhere but I'm not seeing anything in any of my event logs which looks suspect to me.

I have been using my capture card as a video in device so I can play my video game systems without having to go to the TV in another room. Also, I'm on Windows XP SP2.
Hello,
I wanted to ask is there a feature that allows Microsoft Exchange to download emails through POP3 from another mail provider like Google Apps (Gmail for your own domain), then store it and allowing users to download (POP3/IMAP) emails to Outlook/Live Mail. So I want to Microsoft Exchange to become like middle mail provider.
My another question is regarding Microsoft Server Active Directory, is Windows Server 2008 Active Directory working with Windows XP Professional and is there any new feature added to Win2k8 AD?
Hello,
I have an old computer whose hard drive is wiped. The Microsoft product key is on the back, but there is no reference to which OS it is. I know it must be some flavor of XP -- is there any way to find out which one?
How would i enable Autoplay to prompt in Windows XP? I have tried the following things: right clicking the drive and selecting autoplay and have the radio button for prompt checked. I have tried Microsoft's autofix.exe as well. Neither have done the trick. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/CDROM there is an Autorun - REG_DWORD_0x00000001 (1).
Thanks
I'm trying to create a very simple Windows-XP batch file:
Program1.exe
Sleep 3
Program2.exe
Sleep 5
Program3.exe
Sleep 11
Of course, I don't want to have to exit each program, before the next 1 starts.
The default for batch-files seems to be "stop until the previous program exists".
How do I get this script to run as expected?
Edit: The 3 executables listed above are more like "notepad" type programs. They open and run and don't just "open, run, close".
