• Is this the correct why of speaking to a "Content Manager" Class?

  I am creating a silverlight site. I am currently breaking out my ideas into pieces of functionality. One of the idea's I have is the concept of a content manager. This is essentially a UI control with 4 regions. Top, Bottom, Right & Left. I also have a collection of objects that are considered "Menu Items". These are controls that function as a way to navigate around, similar to links. The idea I have is to implement an IMenuItem interface. Among the standard pieces of information (Text, PageReference, etc) I was also going to hold a reference to the content manager. My idea behind this thinking is that I can pass the PageReference to a property on the ContentManager and then call a method which knows how to update the content manager accordingly. Is this the best way of implementing this or is their some sort of pattern for it?

• Making A ScrollBar Go To Selected Record In TreeView ASP.Net

  I have a treeview control that gets populated at runtime with a pyramid of employee names. I put the css scrollbar on the view by putting overflow:auto" in the tag where the treeview is located. The users are now asking me to to have the scrollbar go down in the treeview where a treeview item is selected. How do I make a scroll bar to go to a place where the treeview has been selected? Note: treeView1.SelectedNode.EnsureVisible(); is not available in asp.net need another way.

• Scheme open source projects?

  Hi I'm learning scheme and was wondering if there are any active open-source projects I might be able to get involved in? I'm nearing the end of SICP and although this has good complex examples no textbook code compares to real-world applications. eg testing code / benchmarking / revision control styles / sheer size and scope etc. Hence my curiousity at seeing a project in the wild. I tried searching google code but only found projects that are interpreters that implement RSR5/6. Perhaps there are not many projects out there and I should consider scala?! Advice or even pointers to specific projects appreciated.

Should I be doing this differently any way?

• predict location of single-line text from a UITextView

  Is this possible? Specifically, I have a UITextView, and the text is short enough that it will fit on a single line. I want to predict where it will appear, so that (for example) if I wanted to, I could set up a UILabel that rendered the text in exactly the same location. Once I get that figured out, what I really want to do is pick contentInset and/or contentOffset so that the text of the UITextView and the left-justified UILabel will render in the same location. But I figure the above will let me do that. EDIT: In response to a comment, the fundamental problem I am trying to get around is that UITextField does not let you set the location of the cursor. It appears a lot of people have tried to get around this without success. I need to be able to move the cursor -- inserting/deleting text there is not enough. • Delphi: Application error logging in the field

  Using Delphi 7, I wonder if there is a free component which will collect diagnostic information as my application runs at a remote site and will help me to debug error reports. Maybe it records each menu item selected, control clicked, text input, etc? Maybe it just dumps the stack on a crash. Maybe it does something else ... I don't mind adding code (e.g at the start and end of each procedure), as that might generate more useful info than a fully automatic system. I am not sure if the solution ought to "phone home" or if it is enough to produce a text file which can be emailed to me. Any suggestions?

• C++ boost thread id and Singleton

  hi. Sorry to flood so many questions this week. I assume thread index returned by thread.get_id is implementation specific. In case of the pthreads, is index reused? IE, if thread 0 runs and joins, is thread launched afterwords going to have a different ID? the reason I ask this is a need to implement Singleton pattern with a twist: each thread gets its own instance. I know it sounds very crazy, but threads control hardware (cuda) which does not permit device memory sharing. What is a good way to implement such pattern?

• Load all images from internal application

  I am trying to load all the .png files from an internal application folder into a list control and I am stuck on exactly how to do it. I have tried httpservice to get the folder and count how many images there are so I can loop through them but I just cant figure that out. File structure -src -(default package) -my application files -icons -all my .png files httpService i tried: <s:HTTPService id="loadAllImages" destination="/icons" result="gotImages(event)" fault="loadAllImagesFault(event)"/> This always results in directory not found. Am I going about this completely wrong? Anyone have a suggestion?

• Including non-Python files with setup.py

  How do I make setup.py include a file that isn't part of the code? (Specifically, it's a license file, but it could be any other thing.) I want to be able to control the location of the file. In the original source folder, the file is in the root of the package. (i.e. on the same level as the topmost __init__.py.) I want it to stay exactly there when the package is installed, regardless of operating system. How do I do that?

• Building a user subscription application

  Hello, I'm trying to come up with the best way to handle user subscription and management for our magazine website. What I want to happen is a user purchases a subscription and they are granted online access of a certain membership role for a certain amount of time depending on how many years they subscribed for. I would also like the system to be able to send out emails when a subscription is almost up. I've seen some third party projects to help accomplish this but I'd prefer to write this from scratch as I want total control over how it works. Any suggestions would be helpful. The main thing I can't figure out is how to have an expiring membership. You must keep track of when the user signed up and how long until they should expire.

  I'm looking for just a simple ListBox with build-in Drag & Drop. I think that Silverlite 4 Toolkit has something like that. The BoxList should be able to: reorder by draging & droping items drag item from one BoxList to another display preview (ghost version) of dragged item show drop location (like a line between items where the dragged will be inserted) I hope there is some solution from microsoft (in toolkit for example), but if not I all be happy with any working solution.   I need to find out that how many times and which files are fixed or changed due to a bug between two specific dates in an open source project which uses Trac. • Pygame's Message-multiple lines?

  I am using pygame and livewires (though I don't think that part is relevant here) to create a game. I've got the game working, but I'm trying to make something akin to a title screen before the game starts. However, it doesn't recognize when I try to make a new line appear. Here is what I have: begin_message=games.Message(value=""" Destroy the Bricks!\n In this game, you control a paddle,\n controlled by your mouse,\n and attempt to destroy all the rows of bricks.\n Careful though, you only have 1 life.\n Don't mess up! The game will start in\n 5 seconds.""", size=30, x=games.screen.width/2, y=games.screen.height/2, lifetime=500, color=color.white, is_collideable=False) games.screen.add(begin_message) The message appears on the screen, but the newline doesn't happen, so I can only read the first part of the message. Is there a way to make this message actually appear, or can I not use the 'Message' for this?

• Unable to bind in asp.net grid Template Column

  I am having trouble accessing the data field. I receive the error: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. I can get the value but using <%# getOpenJobs((string)Eval("ParentPart")) % but I need to use it in the if to display a certian picture if it passes the condition. • Hiding result sets from multiple selects in a stored procedure

  I have a stored procedure that retrieves SQL queries as text and executes the statements using sp_executesql. Each of the dynamic queries is a count query in that it only returns the number of records found (select COUNT(id) from...). I am looping through a set of SQL queries stored as text and building a table variable out of the results. At the end, I am selecting all the results from the table variable as the result set that I want returned from the stored procedure. However, when I execute the stored procedure, I am naturally getting multiple result sets (one for each of the dynamic queries and one for the final select.) Is there any way I can suppress the results of a select statement executed through sp_executesql? I have found answers that reference storing the results in a temp table, but I don't have control of the query text that I am running so I can't change it to select into anything. Please help. • DataGridView that always has one row selected

  I'm using a DGV to show a list of images with text captions as a picklist. Their must always be a one and only one selection made in the list. I can't find a way to prevent the user from clearing the selection with a control-click on the selected row. Is there a property in the designer I'm missing that could do this? If I have to override the behavior in the mouse click events are there other ways the user could clear the current selection that need covered as well? Is there a third approach I could take that's less cumbersome than my second idea?

  I would like to use Swing to program a simple learning game. I am wondering what would be best way to switch between UI screens. For example, I would have a screen for the Main Menu, and then when the user presses a button on that screen, I would swap out the whole screen for a completely different one. Then, arbitrary screens can be swapped in at any moment, and all of their event handlers would be reactivated while the inactive screen's event handlers will be deactivated. What type of Swing component/control would I use for each of the 'screens'. Is this even doable?

  I'm really new to Facebook application development, and I'm quite confused about application permissions and why the php sdk is so limiting and has so few precoded functions. First off, how do I check if a user has set proper permissions for my application, and if not, display that standard dialog immediately instead of using FBML and making them click the link? Secondly, how do I publish to a user's stream with the php apis? Finally, are there any good tutorial sites for making a php based canvas application that use the latest versions of all the sdks? Thank you for your help! I really don't see why so much of this is Javascript, it would really make much more sense to me to have things like: if(!$facebook->appHasPerm('publish_stream'){$facebook->showPermDialog('publish_stream');} I'd feel like I have much more control over the application if it worked like that.

• Editing a 1MB file continuously, what's more efficient?

  I've to be continuously editing a 1MB file, simulating a file system. I've to modify the directory of File Control Blocks, FAT, blocks, etc. Proffesor recommended overwriting the file every time an update is made. 1MB shouldn't take minutes to do that, but I don't like this way. Is it a FileChannel the way to go here? Also, I understand that if I edit a MappedByteBuffer, the content of the mapped file region is also edited immediately? i.e. is reflexive mapped? Thanks.
