• Suppress Eclipse compiler errors in in a plug-in

  Hi, I'm currently working on a plug-in for Eclipse that translates some custom Java code (which doesn't necessarily run/compile), to runnable Java code. In particular, the plug-in allows code to be written using classes created or imported during the translation. In general, the pre-translation code runs/compiles fine provided the writer uses import statements at the top of their class files. However, it would be convenient for my users if it was not necessary to import these classes. At the moment, the lack of import statements results in (obvious) compiler errors. Would it be possible to empower my plug-in to either a) suppress/ignore these errors, or b) have Eclipse find these classes automatically, without the use of import statements? I should point out that the translated code would these include the required import statements--but this is not a problem for me. I'm also aware that this could lead to lazy programmers and some bad habits. To clarify, consider the following example of pre-translated code: File f = new File("Somefilename.txt"); which clearly requires the possibly imported class File. Without an import statement (import java.io.File;), Eclipse reports that File can not be resolved to a type. This is the error I'd like to hide in files pertaining to projects created for use with my plug-in. (The translated code would include import java.io.File; so that it would be runnable) In closing, I should point out I'm not necessarily looking for code (though I wouldn't be opposed to it), but rather some links to some relevant tutorials (if they exist), or helpful tips/ideas. Also, as this is my first plug-in, it's entirely possible that what I'd like to do is not possible and that I don't realize it--if this is the case, please let me know, preferably with some justification. • Customising Flex Datagrid or alternative solutions

  I'm currently building an application that is presenting tabular (fetched from a webservice) data and have squirted it into a datagrid - seemed the most obvious way to present it on screen. I've now come across a few limitations in the datagrid and wonder how I might move forward. As a relative newcomer to flex development I'm a little lost. A few things I am wanting to do. The data is logically split into groups and I would like to be able to have subheadings in the grid whenever I move to a new group. I would like to be able to highligh individual cells based on their content relative to other values in the row - ie highlight the cell with the highest value in the row. Is this possible with the standard datagrid? I'm actually using the try-before-you-buy version of flex builder at the moment but I have ordered Flex Builder 3 Pro - which is on its way to me. I understand there is an 'advanced datagrid' control in this version - perhaps that will support some of what I wish to do? Alternatively - is there another way of building custom tabular data?

• PostSharp when using DataContractSerializer?

  I have an Aspect that implements INotifyPropertyChanged on a class. This bypasses the constructor, which I'm guessing interferes with the way that PostSharp sets itself up. This ends up causing a NullReferenceException in an intercepted property setter, but before it has called the custom OnPropertySet, so I'm guessing it interferes with setting up the LocationInterceptionArgs. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way I can work around it? I did some more research and discovered I can fix the issue by doing this: [OnDeserializing] private void OnDeserializing(StreamingContext context) { AspectUtilities.InitializeCurrentAspects(); } I thought, okay, that's not too bad, so I tried to do this in my Aspect: private IEnumerable<MethodInfo> SelectDeserializing(Type type) { return type.GetMethods(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Public).Where( t => t.IsDefined(typeof (OnDeserializingAttribute), false)); } [OnMethodEntryAdvice, MethodPointcut("SelectDeserializing")] public void OnMethodEntry(MethodExecutionArgs args) { AspectUtilities.InitializeCurrentAspects(); } Unfortunately, even though it intercepts the method properly, it doesn't work. I'm thinking the call to InitializeCurrentAspects isn't getting transformed properly, since it's now inside the Aspect rather than directly inside the aspect-enhanced class. Is there a way I can cleanly automate this so that I don't have to worry about calling this on every class that I want to have the Aspect?

• Comparing values from a string in a MySQL query

  I'm having some trouble comparing values found in VARCHAR fields. I have a table with products and each product has volume. I store the volume in a VARCHAR field and it's usually a number (30, 40, 200..) but there are products that have multiple volumes and their data is stored separated by semicolons, like so 30;60;80. I know that storing multiple volumes like that is not recommended but I have to work with it like it is. I'm trying to implement a search by volume function for the products. I want to also display the products that have a bigger or equal volume than the one searched. This is not a problem with the products that have a single volume, but it is a problem with the multiple volume products. Maybe an example will make things clearer: Let's say I have a product with this in it's volume field: 30;40;70;80. If someone searched for a volume, lets say 50, I want that product to be displayed. To do this I was thinking of writing my own custom MySQL function (I've never this before) but maybe someone can offer a different solution. I apologize for my poor English but I hope I made my question clear. Thanks.

• Assembly reference from ASP.NET App_Code directory

  I have trouble getting a custom ObjectDataSource for an asp:ListView control to work. I have the class for the DataSource in the App_Code directory of the web application (as required by the asp:ListView control). using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Configuration; using System.Data; using System.Data.Common; using System.Web; using System.DirectoryServices; [DataObject] public class UsersDAL { [DataObjectMethod(DataObjectMethodType.Select)] public List<User> LoadAll(int startIndex, int maxRows, string sortedBy) { List<User> users = new List<User>(); DirectoryEntry entry; return users; } } As soon as I add using System.DirectoryServices; the page crashes with this message: Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'DirectoryServices' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Without the usage of System.DirectoryServices the page loads without problems. The reference is there, it is working in classes outside the App_Code directory.

• ViewModel updates after Model server roundtrip

  I have stateless services and anemic domain objects on server side. Model between server and client is POCO DTO. The client should become MVVM. The model could be graph of about 100 instances of 20 different classes. The client editor contains diverse tab-pages all of them live-connected to model/viewmodel. My problem is how to propagate changes after server round-trip nice way. It's quite easy to propagate changes from ViewModel to DTO. For way back it would be possible to throw away old DTO and replace it whole with new one, but it will cause lot of redrawing for lists/DataTemplates. I could gather the server side changes and transmit them to client side. But the names of fields changed would be domain/DTO specific, not ViewModel specific. And the mapping seems nontrivial to me. If I should do it imperative way after round-trip, it would break SOC/modularity of viewModels. I'm thinking about some kind of mapping rule engine, something like automappper or emit mapper. But it solves just very plain use-cases. I don't see how it would map/propagate/convert adding items to list or removal. How to identify instances in collections so it could merge values to existing instances. As well it should propagate validation/error info. Maybe I should implement INotifyPropertyChanged on DTO and try to replay server side events on it ? And then bind ViewModel to it ? Would binding solve the problems with collection merges nice way ? Is EventAgregator from PRISM useful for that ? Is there any event record-replay component ? Is there better client side pattern for architecture with server side logic ?

  i have a table with code like this: <tr> <th scope="row">5-17</th> <td>23.6 (22.0-24.0)</td> <td>18.0 (17-20.0)</td> </tr> <tr> <th scope="row">Total 0-17</th> <td>20.6 (8-15.6)</td> <td>16.1 (22.2-24.0)</td> </tr> i am using the following function to find the contents of the table cells and bring it into an array: var l1 = $('#datatable td:nth-child(2)').map(function() { return $(this).text(); }).get(); the table fragment's id is "datatable". this returns properly, however i am putting this array into jqPlot and it cant read the stuff between the parentheses or the parentheses themselves. i need the data to remain in the table however because we are displaying both the table and the chart. i cant reformat (add spans around the content i want to remove etc) because these tables are being generated by another piece of software. i think what i need to do is either slice off after the space or use a regex to find and remove. not sure how to proceed with either of these. thanks!

• Sharepoint isn't accepting new Credentials initially when switching users.

  Hi all, I have a standard website (one webapplication and one site collection) with some custom pages and webparts. The issue I'm having is that when I try to switch users, using the "Sign In As a Different User" and entering new credentials (even for another site collection admin account), IE tries the account three times, and then it presents a 401 Access Denied screen. After that, if I erase all the stuff of access denied page from the browser's url, I'm logged as the new account I just had entered and was not accepted. After researching for a while on google, I found a KB ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/970814 ) that might relate, but just tested here and it didn't work at all. • Building a many-to-many db schema using only an unpredictable number of foreign keys

  Good afternoon (at least around here), I have a many-to-many relationship schema that I'm having trouble building. The main problem is that I'm only working with primary and foreign keys (no varchars or enums to simplify things) and the number of many-to-many relationships is not predictable and can increase at any time. I looked around at various questions and couldn't find something that directly addressed this issue. I split the problem in half, so I now have two one-to-many schemas. One is solved but the other is giving me fits. Let's assume table FOO is a standard, boring table that has a simple primary key. It's the one in the one-to-many relationship. Table BAR can relate to multiple keys of FOO. The number of related keys is not known beforehand. An example: From a query FOO returns ids 3, 4, 5. BAR needs a unique key that relates to 3, 4, 5 (though there could be any number of ids returned) The usual join table does not work: Table FOO_BAR primary_key | foo_id | bar_id | Since FOO returns 3 unique keys and here bar_id has a one-to-one relationship with foo_id. Having two join tables does not seem to work either, as it still can't map foo_ids 3, 4, 5 to a single bar_id. Table FOO_TO_BAR primary_key | foo_id | bar_to_foo_id | Table BAR_TO_FOO primary_key | foo_to_bar_id | bar_id | What am I doing wrong? Am I making things more complicated than they are?   I'm trying to use AutoMapper to flatten multiple levels of arrays. Consider the following source classes: class X { public string A { get; set; } public Y[] B { get; set; } } class Y { public string C { get; set; } public Z[] D { get; set; } } class Z { public string E { get; set; } public string F { get; set; } } And the following destination: class Destination { public string A { get; set; } public string C { get; set; } public string E { get; set; } public string F { get; set; } } What I'd like to be able to do is get a List from one or more X, e.g.: Mapper.Map<IEnumerable<X>, IEnumerable<Destination>>(arrayOfX); I'm unable to figure out what sort of mapping configuration to use to achieve this. MapFrom seems like the way to go for 1:1 compositions, but doesn't seem to be able to handle the array (or other enumerable) unless I use AutoMapper's destination naming convention. Any insights on how to achieve this?

• Script working with mysql and php into a textarea and back

  I am trying to write a custom script that will keep a list of strings in a textarea. Each line of the textarea will be a row from a table. The problem I have is how to work the script to allow for adding, updating, or deleting rows based on a submit. So, for instance, I currently have 3 rows in the database: john sue mark I want to be able to delete sue and add richard and it will delete the row with sue and insert a row for richard. • Android: forward search queries to one single activity that handles search

  I have an activity handling search (ACTIVITY_1), which works perfectly when I use the search (via SEARCH button on the phone) within/from this activity. • Need some help/advice on WCF Per-Call Service and NServiceBus interop.

  I have WCF Per-Call service wich provides data for clients and at the same time is integrated with NServiceBus. All statefull objects are stored in UnityContainer wich is integrated into custom service host. NServiceBus is configured in service host and uses same container as service instances. Every client has its own instance context(described by Juval Lowy in his book in chapter about Durable Services). If i need to send request over bus I just use some kind of dispatcher and wait response using Thread.Sleep().Since services are per-call this is ok afaik. But I am confused a bit about messages from bus, that service must handle and provide them to clients. For some data like stock quotes I just update some kind of statefull object and and then, when clients invoke GetQuotesData() just provide data from this object. But there are numerous service messages like new quote added and etc. At this moment I have an idea to implement something like "Postman daemon" =)) and store this type of messages in instance context. Then client will invoke "GetMail()",recieve those messages and parse them. Problem is that NServiceBus messages are "Interface based" and I cant pass them over WCF, so I need to convert them to types derieved from some abstract class. Dunno what is best way to handle this situation. Will be very gratefull for any advice on this. Thanks in advance.

• How to pass binary data between two apps using Content Provider?

  I need to pass some binary data between two android apps using Content Provider (sharedUserId is not an option). I would prefer not to pass the data (a savegame stored as a file, small in size < 20k) as a file (ie. overriding openFile()) since this would necessitate some complicated temp-file scheme to cope with concurrency with several content provider accesses and a running game. I would like to read the file into memory under a mutex lock and then pass the binary array in the simplest way possible. How do I do this? It seems creating a file in memory is not a possibility due to the return type of openFile(). query() needs to return a Cursor. Using MatrixCursor is not possible since it applies toString() to all stored objects when reading it. What do I need to do? Implement a custom Cursor? This class has 30 abstract methods. Do I read the file, put it in a SQLite db and return the cursor? The complexity of this seemingly simple task is mindboggling.

• Unregistering COM dll with a C# Setup Project

  Hi All. I've been stuck on this one for a while. I'll try explain in the simplest terms and at the best of my knowledge. I will honour any help. I've got a C# project which uses a VB6 compiled ActiveX DLL that I'm constantly updating. I compile the setup project, send it to the client and they run the setup. When building the updated setup project, I would increase the 'Version' of the setup project so it wouldn't bother with 'Another version is already installed'. What started happening after a few updates I began to notice the DLL would not be updated to the new version in the installer. The client computer had the original DLL both installed and registered. First symptom: method not found exceptions from the client C# code. This is not a shared DLL and only this application needs it. I've noticed that when uninstalling the application (through the usual procedure) the DLL is also not removed from the application folder although I would set this file's property 'Permanent' to false. The registration entries in the registry are mantained also. I do update in VS6.0 the version of the DLL (usually increase the build number) before building it. Then in VS2008, I remove it from the References, and add it again from the 'Browse tab', without re-registering it on my dev machine and adding it from the COM tab. I've thought of these options. Custom step in Setup project to regsvr32.exe /u 'hardcoded path of my dll' at uninstall (ugly) Somehow find out how the 'Isolate' property can work for me without registering Find out how to execute setup project 'Conditions' that would actually check the version of the library and to update the file accordingly at every install) Any help would be incredibly welcome.

• A dynamic array of class "landmark", inside another single class "landmarks"

  I'm working on a robot localization simulator and I created a class called "landmark". The end result is going to be a robot that is always centered and always faces the top of the screen. As it turns, the birds eye view map will rotate around the robot. To accomplish this, I'm assuming I can rotate one class and have all elements inside rotate as well. So, the landmark class has properties x,y, label, and radius. This is suppose to simulate a tree location in a forest. To test everything, I need "forest data," and I wrote a script to generate 100 trees in a 100m x 100m area. The script automatically generates values within an acceptable range for x,y, radius. The generated data is stored in an object called tempForest and is 100x3. Ideally, I want to create a class called "landmarks" (plural) that has 100 landmark instances inside. How would I instantiate 100 instances of landmark in one instance of landmarks using that randomly generated data? Ideally, I'd just type treeBeacons = landmarks(); and it would randomly populate 100 (user definable, set in config file) instances with x, y, radius data. I'm not sure how to deal with a dynamic array of class "Landmark", inside another single class "landmarks." Any ideas?

• iPhone - UIViewController not rotating when device orientation changes

  I have got my own custom UIViewController, which contains a UIScrollView with an UIImageView as it's subview. I would like to make the image to auto rotate when device orientation changes, but it doesn't seem to be working... In the header file, I've got; @interface MyViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> { IBOutlet UIScrollView *containerView; UIImageView *imageView; } These components are initialised in the loadView function as below; containerView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://..."]]; UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; [image release]; [containerView addSubview:imageView]; And I have added the following method, assuming that's all I need to make the view auto-rotate... -(BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } MyViewController loads fine with the image I've specified to grab from the URL, and the shouldAutorotate... function is being called, with the correct UIInterfaceOrientation, when I flip the device too. However, didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation method do not get called, and the image doesn't seem to rotate itself... Could someone please point out what I need to add, or what I have done wrong here? When attempting redirect from HTTP to HTTPS (this happens when we access constroller secured by the usual RequireSSL attribute implementation) we get blank page with "Bad Request" message. • Problem with JMX query of Coherence node MBeans visible in JConsole

  I'm using JMX to build a custom tool for monitoring remote Coherence clusters at work. I'm able to connect just fine and query MBeans directly, and I've acquired nearly all the information I need. However, I've run into a snag when trying to query MBeans for specific caches within a cluster, which is where I can find stats about total number of gets/puts, average time for each, etc. The MBeans I'm trying to access programatically are visible when I connect to the remote process using JConsole, and have names like this: Coherence:type=Cache,service=SequenceQueue,name=SEQ%GENERATOR,nodeId=1,tier=back It would make it more flexible if I can dynamically grab all type=Cache MBeans for a particular node ID without specifying all the caches. I'm trying to query them like this: QueryExp specifiedNodeId = Query.eq(Query.attr("nodeId"), Query.value(nodeId)); QueryExp typeIsCache = Query.eq(Query.attr("type"), Query.value("Cache")); QueryExp cacheNodes = Query.and(specifiedNodeId, typeIsCache); ObjectName coherence = new ObjectName("Coherence:*"); Set<ObjectName> cacheMBeans = mBeanServer.queryMBeans(coherence, cacheNodes); However, regardless of whether I use queryMBeans() or queryNames(), the query returns a Set containing... ...0 objects if I pass the arguments shown above ...0 objects if I pass null for the first argument ...all MBeans in the Coherence:* domain (112) if I pass null for the second argument ...every single MBean (128) if I pass null for both arguments The first two results are the unexpected ones, and suggest a problem in the QueryExp I'm passing, but I can't figure out what the problem is. I even tried just passing typeIsCache or specifiedNodeId for the second parameter (with either coherence or null as the first parameter) and I always get 0 results. I'm pretty green with JMX — any insight on what the problem is? (FYI, the monitoring tool will be run on Java 5, so things like JMX 2.0 won't help me at this point.)
