  • Best approch for building link in JQuery with paramaters

    Hi, Very new to JQuery and MVC and webdevelopment over all. I'm now trying to accomplish this and is asking for a bit of advise: I'm basically trying to build a filter with 4 input elements, and 1 output. I have 4 select (drop down) elements in my page. As soon as one of them is changed, I need to build a href and get the partial view with the return values. My questionis now if I should try to build the href in the select element or if I can do it once in jquery, and don't have to have duplicated code. How would I accomplish this?

  • Unicode and PHP - am I doing something wrong?

    I'm using Kohana 3, which has full support for Unicode. I have this as the first child of my <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> The Unicode character I am inserting into is é as in Café. However, I am getting the triangle with a ? (as in could not decode character). As far as I can tell in my own code, I am not doing any string manipulation on the text. In fact, I have placed the accent straight into a view's PHP file and it is still not working. I copied the character from this page: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/00e9/index.htm I've only just started examining PHP's Unicode limitations, so I could be doing something horribly wrong. So, how do I display this character? Do I need to resort to the HTML entity?

    Hey Everyone, so I've watched http://railscasts.com/episodes/43-ajax-with-rjs but I have a question: In my view I have the following: <div id="testly"> <%= render :partial => "test" %> </div> This works. Using create.rjs to change the content in this div, I have the following in my create.rjs file: page.replace_html :testly, :partial = 'test' Simply put, this should just refresh the partial right? But its not working... Would love any suggestions!

    I am sure this question has been asked hundreds of time and been responded equally. I am trying to get a clear picture of my effort before I embark on this. I want to know if SVNImporter or any other tool out there helps me migrate my UCM VOBs to Subversion repos. I dont mind losing some history. Also please share your strategies if there are no tools out there. I was told by someone that I would have to rebase my view with each baseline from oldest to the newest and incrementally commit that code into Subversion. While this seems to be plain and simple but considering the number of VOBs we have here, this would be a gigantic task for us to do manually. Is there any script out there that I can use to automate this process. Comments please!!! Thanks Gnan

    Hi, I am trying to open OpenOffice documents on a View in RCP. I used for that the OleFram but he is not giving good results and now I am trying to integrate the OOoBean on my application but I can not see how I can do that. I am using Java 1.6 and Eclipse 3.5 and based on this sample http://www.eclipsezone.com/eclipse/forums/t48966.html My application have to show OOwriter and OOCalc documents and to be able to edit and save them.     I wonder if such a thing is possible or even exist : In the MVC pattern, I would like to have the Model part to be persistant in memory, instead of reloading my instances at each execution. So I want only the Controller and View part to be executed. Is there any solution of server that would provide PHP objects (just like a Mysql server provides data records), and that keeps these objects in memory ? A problem would be also : how to have a constructed query to get objects ? Maybe PHP Linq ?

    Hi guys, I'm trying to get data from a website- xml. Everything works fine. But the UIButton remains pressed until the xml data is returned and thus if theres a problem with the internet service, it cant be corrected and the app is virtually unusable. here are the calls: { AppDelegate *appDelegate = (AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; if(!appDelegate.XMLdataArray.count > 0){ [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; [appDelegate GetApps]; //function that retrieves data from Website and puts into the array - XMLdataArray. } XMLViewController *controller = [[XMLViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MedGearsApps" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } It works fine, but how can I make the view buttons functional with getting stuck. In other words, I just want the UIButton and other UIButtons to be functional whiles the thing works in the background. I heard about performSelectorInMainThread but i cant put it to practice correctly any help is appreciated :)

For the other 5% i need to manipulate the value of id before passing to the facade. I'd like to create a separate method within this same controller that executes that manipulation and then calls this (Details) method. What would the signature of that method look like?   • How to code a C# Extension method to turn a Domain Model object into an Interface object?

    When you have a domain object that needs to display as an interface control, like a drop down list, ifwdev suggested creating an extension method to add a .ToSelectList(). The originating object is a List of objects that have properties identical to the .Text and .Value properties of the drop down list. Basically, it's a List of SelectList objects, just not of the same class name. I imagine you could use reflection to turn the domain object into an interface object. Anyone have any suggestions for C# code that could do this? The SelectList is an MVC drop down list of SelectListItem. The idea of course is to do something like this in the view: <%= Html.DropDownList("City", (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>) ViewData["Cities"].ToSelectList() )

  • IIS Virtual Directory/Application & Forms authentication

    I've setup and deployed a simple forms authentication website with membership using .NET 4. I've created a virtual directory (now converted to "Application") in IIS7 and setup the web.config file in the virtual directory as follows: <system.webServer> <directoryBrowse enabled="true" /> </system.webServer> Great! I browse to the virtual directory: ../mydomain/books/ and I'm automatically redirected to the login page specified by web.config in my root directory and the url path is placed as follows: ../Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fbooks At this point, I login succesfully, but I am not redirected anywhere, and when I manually return to the directory, ../books, I'm sent back to the login page, where I'm already logged in? So I'm confused about what my problem is! I should be successfully authenticated, and than redirected back to the directory, or at the very least be able to view it manually after I log in right?

It is unusual when i use [ShareAppDelegate showLoading] on other Function, - it work very nice, i mean all the statement be executed in order. All i want, when i tap on My Button, Loading will be called immediatelly. Tks in advance

    I have a page where i have 4 tabs displaying 4 different reports based of different tables. Now i get row count of each tabled using select count() from table query and display number of rows available in each table on the tabs. Now with each page post back 5 count() queries are executed (4 to get counts and 1 for pagination) and 1 query for getting report. Now my question is should is count(*) query really expensive that i should keep the row counts (at least which are displayed on tab) in view state of page instead of queering each time? How much expensive it is ?

    I am trying to create a simple app that displays a list of items with check boxes next to each item, then give the user to simply check each box. Nothing (aside from the checkbox image switching) needs to happen when the check box is touched. Each checklist is a seperate NSDictionary contained in a single master NSDictionary. The checklist dictionary contains arrays for different sections of each checklist. At the top of the view, the user selects which set (dictionary) of checklists they want to open then I want that checklist to display underneath the picker once a "select checklist" button is pressed. Any ideas on the best way to get this done?

    My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController.   • ASP.NET: CSS friendly calendar control

    I'm using the built-in Calendar control. It works, but in a few places the way the HTML is rendered is broken or not CSS-friendly and unfortunately cannot be changed (it's hard coded). I was hoping they would fix this in .NET 4.0, but as far as I can tell the Calendar control hasn't been changed at all. Also, as far as I know, there's no CSS adapter for the Calendar control. So, I would need a control that would: Allow me to customize the content of each cell (like OnDayRender works) Allow me to assign CSS classes to any HTML it may render Not render anything automatically that cannot be turned off, except layout code No auto-postback or auto-JS code (I can handle these by hand using simple links or custom JS calls) Basically a simple calendar view control that would give me full rendering control.     It is very common in Rails for an objects_controller controller to have RESTful edit and destroy actions like so: def edit @object = Object.find(params[:id]) end def destroy @object = Object.find(params[:id]) @object.destroy redirect_to :back end With an associated view that provides edit and destroy links like so: <%= link_to "Edit the Object", edit_object_path(object) %> <%= link_to "Delete", object, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %> And it is easy to blow this up. If I open two browser windows, A and B, destroy an object with the "Delete" link in browser A and then press the "Edit" link in browser B, the find() in the edit action throws an exception. Obviously there are several ways to deal with this in the edit action: catch the exception and recover gracefully use @object = find(:first, "conditions... etc. and test the @object before going further But seeing as this is such a common pattern, I would love to know how other folks deal with this situation.

OK, but how to retrieve that user name in the controller ? Is it possible without registering System.Security.Principal namespace in the controller ? In the other words - the controller must know whose user wants to do some action (e.g. change account data). I could store it's name in the Html.Hidden control on each View but I don't want to have a mess in my Views

  • Managing important runtime business logic with regard to a codebase

    I'm working on a project which will end up have a lot of application information stored in the form of records in a database. In this case, it's the configuration of data views: which grid columns to show/hide default filters to apply to each grid view column titles sorting subtotaling ... This information is a big part of the value of the application and is essential to it's function. The data will be altered by admins a fair amount, so it's not static and it wouldn't be appropriate to have to deploy a new version of the app every time the data changes. The question is, Where should this data be stored? It will definitely live in the database because that's how it's accessed, but I feel like it needs to also be kept with the version controlled codebase because it's an integral part of functioning of the application. Has anyone dealt with an issue like this before? What did you end up doing?

    I got dpm($form) working. Nice! This is much better way to view data. I am still trying to figure out where stuff is coming from eg: location longitude & latitude. The word 'longitude' is referenced in 20 different places. I thought this was a likely place to isolate text box for this input field. dpm($form['#field_info']['field_store_latitude']['location_settings']['form']['fields']); Any tips on how to track down individual input elements?

  • How to deal with 'bad' decision forced on you regarding basic software for your product

    Here is my situation, our product used to support several of the major databases. Now management has decided to move all products to MaxDB (aka SapDB previously), and even if we keep supporting some of the previous dbs, all new installations are on MaxDB. I am sure MaxDB is a great db and can support huge SAP installations. But from the point of view of a software developper, its a nightmare. Every time you need to do something not trivial (write an stored procedure, some fancy trigger...) and you google for some info, you get like 0.1% of the hits you would with things like MySql, PostgreSql or MSSql. Mailing lists are nearly non existant. SAP does support it commercially but it is not clear wether we'll buy support. And the decision cannot be rolled back. The product works with MaxDB, but with lots of inefficiency on development and a lot of frustration, is there something one could do?
