  • List of items with same values

    - by user559780
    I'm creating a list of items from a file BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream("H:/temp/data.csv"))); try { List<Item> items = new ArrayList<Item>(); Item item = new Item(); String line = null; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { String[] split = line.split(","); item.name = split[0]; item.quantity = Integer.valueOf(split[1]); item.price = Double.valueOf(split[2]); item.total = item.quantity * item.price; items.add(item); } for (Item item2 : items) { System.out.println("Item: " + item2.name); } } catch (IOException e) { reader.close(); e.printStackTrace(); } Problem is the list is displaying the last line in the file as the value for all items.

  • Hibernate, select by id or unique column

    - by Nican
    I am using hibernate for Java, and I want to be able to select users by id or by name from the database. Nice thing about Hibernate is that it caches the result by id, but I seem to be unable to make it cache by name. static Session openSession = Factory.openSession(); public static User GetUser(int Id) { return (User) openSession.get(User.class, new Integer(Id)); } public static User GetUser( String Name ){ return (User) openSession.createCriteria( User.class ). add( Restrictions.eq("username", Name) ). uniqueResult(); } If I use GetUser(1) many times, hibernate will only show that it executed the first time. But every time I use GetUser("user1"), hibernate shows that it is executing a new query to database. What would be the best way to have the string identifier be cached also?

  • Adding Information in SQLite

    - by Cam
    Hi All, I am having trouble with my Android App when adding information into SQLite. I am relatively new to Java/SQLite and though I have followed a lot of tutorials on SQLite and have been able to get the example code to run I am unable to get tables to be created and data to import when running my own app. I have included my code in two Java files Questions (Main Program) and QuestionData (helper class represents the database). Questions.java: public class Questions extends Activity { private QuestionData questions; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.quiztest); questions = new QuestionData(this); try { Cursor cursor = getQuestions(); showQuestions(cursor); } finally { questions.close(); } } private Cursor getQuestions() { //Select Query String loadQuestions = "SELECT * FROM questionlist"; SQLiteDatabase db = questions.getReadableDatabase(); Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(loadQuestions, null); startManagingCursor(cursor); return cursor; } private void showQuestions(Cursor cursor) { // Collect String Values from Query and Display them this part of the code is wokring fine when there is data present. QuestionData.java public class QuestionData extends SQLiteOpenHelper { private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "TriviaQuiz.db" ; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 2; public QuestionData(Context ctx) { super(ctx, DATABASE_NAME, null, DATABASE_VERSION); } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { db.execSQL("CREATE TABLE questionlist (_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, QID TEXT, QQuestion TEXT, QAnswer TEXT, QOption1 TEXT, QOption2 TEXT, QOption3 TEXT, QCategoryTagLvl1 TEXT, QCategoryTagLvl2 TEXT, QOptionalTag1 TEXT, QOptionalTag2 TEXT, QOptionalTag3 TEXT, QOptionalTag4 TEXT, QOptionalTag5 TEXT, QTimePeriod TEXT, QDifficultyRating TEXT, QGenderBias TEXT, QAgeBias TEXT, QRegion TEXT, QWikiLink TEXT, QValidationLink1 TEXT, QValidationLink2 TEXT, QHint TEXT, QLastValidation TEXT, QNotes TEXT, QMultimediaType TEXT, QMultimediaLink TEXT, QLastAsked TEXT);"); db.execSQL("INSERT INTO questionlist (_id, QID, QQuestion, QAnswer, QOption1, QOption2, QOption3, QCategoryTagLvl1, QCategoryTagLvl2, QOptionalTag1, QOptionalTag2, QOptionalTag3, QOptionalTag4, QOptionalTag5, QTimePeriod, QDifficultyRating, QGenderBias, QAgeBias, QRegion, QWikiLink, QValidationLink1, QValidationLink2, QHint, QLastValidation, QNotes, QMultimediaType, QMultimediaLink, QLastAsked)"+ "VALUES (null,'Q00001','Example','Ans1','Q1','Q2','Q3','Q4','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','','')"); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS " + TABLE_NAME); onCreate(db); } } Any suggestions at all would be great. I have tried debugging which suggests that the database does not exist. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  • Can't add email signature in Android

    - by user1680411
    I'm trying to compose and send an email which will include a signature at the bottom of my email content in android. I'm able to send an email but I'm not getting the way that allows me to add my own signature. Do you have any suggestion? here's my code: public void addListener() { final Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button1); button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { findViewById = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.t1); Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND); i.setType("text/plain"); i.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_EMAIL, new String[] { "[email protected]"}); /*i.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_CC, new String[] { "[email protected]" });*/ i.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT, "Android Test"); i.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, "Body"); //i.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, "signature"); try { startActivity(Intent.createChooser(i, "Choose mail app...")); } catch (android.content.ActivityNotFoundException ex) { } } }); }

  • Reading a memorystream

    - by user1842828
    Using several examples here on StackOverflow I thought the following code would decompress a gzip file then read the memory-stream and write it's content to the console. No errors occur but I get no output. public static void Decompress(FileInfo fileToDecompress) { using (FileStream originalFileStream = fileToDecompress.OpenRead()) { string currentFileName = fileToDecompress.FullName; string newFileName = currentFileName.Remove(currentFileName.Length - fileToDecompress.Extension.Length); using (FileStream decompressedFileStream = File.Create(newFileName)) { using (GZipStream decompressionStream = new GZipStream(originalFileStream, CompressionMode.Decompress)) { MemoryStream memStream = new MemoryStream(); memStream.SetLength(decompressedFileStream.Length); decompressedFileStream.Read(memStream.GetBuffer(), 0, (int)decompressedFileStream.Length); memStream.Position = 0; var sr = new StreamReader(memStream); var myStr = sr.ReadToEnd(); Console.WriteLine("Stream Output: " + myStr); } } } }

  • Simplest way to create a wrapper class around some strings for a WPF DataGrid?

    - by Joel
    I'm building a simple hex editor in C#, and I've decided to use each cell in a DataGrid to display a byte*. I know that DataGrid will take a list and display each object in the list as a row, and each of that object's properties as columns. I want to display rows of 16 bytes each, which will require a wrapper with 16 string properties. While doable, it's not the most elegant solution. Is there an easier way? I've already tried creating a wrapper around a public string array of size 16, but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks *The rational for this is that I can have spaces between each byte without having to strip them all out when I want to save my edited file. Also it seems like it'll be easier to label the rows and columns.

  • Apache HTTPClient returns an empty page

    - by mariosangiorgio
    Hi, I am using the Apache HTTPClient for Java and I'm facing a really strange issue. Sometimes when I try to get a dynamically generated page it returns its actual content, but other times (with another parameter) all I get is a short sequence of \t,\r and \n. How could I track what's going on on the different cases in order to find where is the bug? My usage of the library is pretty straightforward, all I do is this few calls on an initialized HTTPClient object: String content = "/pageIwant.jsp?parameter=10101010"; HttpGet request = new HttpGet(content); HttpResponse response = client.execute(targetHost, request); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); String page = EntityUtils.toString(entity);

  • Default datetime format in mySQL

    - by Davuz
    I'm coding to search data by compare datetime. In web form, user input value '2012-06-04' store in $_REQUEST['dateSearch']. I create datetime object from that: $dateObj = date_create_from_format("Y-m-d",$_REQUEST['dateSearch']); $dateParam = $dateObj->format("Y-m"); Then I use $dateParam in sql query to find data $sql = " SELECT * FROM `temp` as `t` WHERE `t`.`date` LIKE '$dateParam%' "; Everything is ok, but I'm not sure mySQL alway use only one datetime format "Y-m-d H:i:s". At here, $dateParam = $dateObj->format("Y-m"); I set default format is "Y-m". Is the default format never change? I don't want hard set format "Y-m-d H:i:s" in code, instead of, I think get format string from system to use is better. How do I get default datetime format string from mySQL???

    Hi I try to run a java server on Jetty which should respond to an ajax call. Unfortunately the response seems to be empty when I call it with ajax. When I call http://localhost:8081/?id=something I get an answer. The Java Server: public class Answer extends AbstractHandler { public void handle(String target, Request baseRequest, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException, ServletException { String id = request.getParameter("id"); response.setContentType("text/xml"); response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache"); response.setContentLength(19+id.length()); response.setStatus(HttpServletResponse.SC_OK); response.getWriter().write("<message>"+id+"</message>"); //response.setContentType("text/html;charset=utf-8"); response.flushBuffer(); baseRequest.setHandled(true); } public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { Server server = new Server(8081); server.setHandler(new Answer()); server.start(); server.join(); } } The js and html: <html> <head> <script> var req; function validate() { var idField = document.getElementById("userid"); var url = "validate?id=" + encodeURIComponent(idField.value); if (typeof XMLHttpRequest != "undefined") { req = new XMLHttpRequest(); } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { req = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } req.open("GET", "http://localhost:8081?id=fd", true); req.onreadystatechange = callback; req.send(null); } function callback() { if (req.readyState == 4) { if (req.status == 200) { var message = req.responseXML.getElementsByTagName("message")[0]; document.getElementById("userid").innerHTML = "message.childNodes[0].nodeValue"; } } } </script> </head> <body onload="validate('foobar')"> <div id="userid">hannak</div> </body> </html> I'm actually don't know what I'm doing wrong here.   • Hidden Features of Google Guice

    - by Jon
    Google Guice provides some great dependency injection features. I came across the @Nullable feature recently which allows you to mark constructor arguments as optional (permitting null) since Guice does not permit these by default: e.g. public Person(String firstName, String lastName, @Nullable Phone phone) { this.firstName = checkNotNull(firstName, "firstName"); this.lastName = checkNotNull(lastName, "lastName"); this.phone = phone; } http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/wiki/UseNullable What are the other useful features of Guice (particularly the less obvious ones) that people use?

  • GetValue on static field inside nested classes.

    - by Sir Gallahad
    Hi... I have the following class declared. I need to retreive the class structure and the static values without instanciate it. public MyClass() { public static string field = "Value"; public nestedClass() { public static string nestedField = "NestedValue"; } } I've successfuly used GetFields and GetNestedType to recover the class structure and GetValue(null) works fine on field, but not on nestedField. Let me sample: var fi = typeof(MyClass).GetField("field", BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static); var nt = typeof(MyClass).GetNestedType("nestedClass", BindingFlags.Public); var nfi = nt.GetField("nestedField", BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static); // All the above references are detected correctly var value = fi.GetValue(null); // until here everything works fine. value == "Value" var nestedValue = nfi.GetValue(null); // this one does not work!! Anyone knows why the last line does not work and how to work around? Thanks.

  • Regex pattern help (I almost have it, just need a bit of expertise to finish it)

    - by Mohammad
    I need to match two cases js/example_directory/example_name.js and js/example_directory/example_name.js?12345 (where 12345 is a digit string of unknown length and the directory can be limitless in depth or not exist at all) I need to capture in both cases everything between js/ and .js and if ? exists capture the digit string after ? This is what I have so far ^js/(.*).js\??(\d+)? This works except it also captures js/example_directory/example_name.js12345 I want the regex to ignore that. Any suggestions? Thank you all! • How to access referenced table from ASPX in-line code (datagridview control)

    hi, I have two processes. 1.) One processes is redirecting output of some unix command to a file on server side.the data is always appended to the file eg : find / > tmp.txt 2.)Another process is opening and reading the same file and storing it in a string and sending the entire string to the client Now, this things take simultaneously. I am using python. Any suggestion as in what can be possible ways to implement this scenario . Please explain with sample code . Thanks in advance . Tazim.

  • empty() returning TRUE on object's non-empty property

    - by Michal M
    I've got a very weird and unexpected problem. empty() is returning TRUE on a non-empty property for a reason unknown to me. class MyObject { private $_property; public function __construct($property) { $this->_property = $property; } public function __get($name) { $priv_name = "_{$name}"; if (isset($this->$priv_name)) { return $this->$priv_name; } else { return NULL; } } } $obj = new MyObject('string value'); echo $obj->property; // Output 'string value' echo empty($obj->property); // Output 1 (means, that property is empty) Would this mean, that the __get() magic function is not called when using empty()? btw. I'm running PHP version 5.0.4

  • Inheritance: possible to change base reference to something else?

    - by fred
    For example I have two classes, Base and Derived as shown below: class Base { public string Name { get; set; } public Base() { } } class Derived : Base { public Derived(Base b) { base = b; // doesn't compile, but is there any way to do something similar? } } So that they behave like this: Base b = new Base(); b.Name = "Bob"; Derived d = new Derived(b); d.Name = "John"; // b.Name is now "John" also Is this possible? I guess one way would be to keep the Base b reference in Derived and override Derived.Name to point to b.Name? Is there an easier way though, for example if I have like 50 properties to override? class Derived : Base { Base b; public override string Name { get { return b.Name; } set { b.Name = value; } } public Derived(Base b) { this.b = b; } }

  • Persisting non-entity class that extends an entity (jpa) - example?

    - by Michal Minicki
    The JPA tutorial states that one can have a non-entity that extends entity class: Entities may extend both entity and non-entity classes, and non-entity classes may extend entity classes. - http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnbqa.html Is it possible to persist such structure? I want to do this: @Entity abstract class Test { ... } class FirstConcreteTest extends Test { ... } // Non-ntity class SecondConcreteTest extends Test { ... } // Non-entity Test test = new FirstConcreteTest(); em.persist(test); What I would like it to do is to persist all fields mapped on abstract Test to a common database table for all concrete classes (first and second), leaving all fields of first and second test class unpersisted (these can contain stuff like EJBs, jdbc pools, etc). And a bonus question. Is it possible to persist abstract property too? @Entity abstract class Test { @Column @Access(AccessType.PROPERTY) abstract public String getName(); } class SecondConcreteTest extends Test { public String getName() { return "Second Concrete Test"; } }

  • Custom validatior in ASP.net

    - by DJPB
    Hi there. I'm working on an ASP.NET/C# app. I have 2 text boxes and I need to validate if the input text for both of them are not both null ex: if(string.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBox1.Text) && string.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBox2.Text) ) //FAIL!!! else // OK! that is, at least one txtBox has values I was planning on using a custom validator but it seems that the validation function only gets called when something is written on the textBox i'm using has the 'control to validate'. Now, that doesn't work for me since I want to show an error message when both text boxes are empty. Is there a way to make the validation function to be called with, for example a postback? Or is there any other better approach to this case than the custom validator? tks

  • NSSortdescriptor, finding the path to the key I wish to use for sorting.

    - by RickiG
    Hi I am using an NSSortdescriptor to sort a collection of NSArrays, I then came across a case where the particular NSArray to be sorted contains an NSDictionary who contains an NSDictionary. I would like to sort from the string paired with a key in the last dictionary. This is how I would reference the string: NSDictionary *productDict = [MyArray objectAtIndex:index]; NSString *dealerName = [[productDict objectForKey:@"dealer"] objectForKey:@"name"]; How would I use the dealerName in my NSSortdescriptor to sort the array? NSSortDescriptor * sortDesc = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:/* ? */ ascending:YES]; sortedDealerArray = [value sortedArrayUsingDescriptors:sortDesc]; [sortDesc release]; Hope someone could help me a bit with how I go about sorting according to keys inside objects inside other objects:) Thank you.

  • Passing an array of an array of char to a function

    - by L.A. Rabida
    In my program, I may need to load a large file, but not always. So I have defined: char** largefilecontents; string fileName="large.txt"; When I need to load the file, the program calles this function: bool isitok=LoadLargeFile(fileName,largefilecontents); And the function is: bool LoadLargeFile(string &filename, char ** &lines) { if (lines) delete [] lines; ifstream largeFile; #ifdef LINUX largeFile.open(filename.c_str()); #endif #ifdef WINDOWS largeFile.open(filename.c_str(),ios::binary); #endif if (!largeFile.is_open()) return false; lines=new char *[10000]; if (!lines) return false; largeFile.clear(); largeFile.seekg(ios::beg); for (int i=0; i>-1; i++) { string line=""; getline(largeFile,line); if (largeFile.tellg()==-1) break; //when end of file is reached, tellg returns -1 lines[i]=new char[line.length()]; lines[i]=const_cast<char*>(line.c_str()); cout << lines[i] << endl; //debug output } return true; } When I view the debug output of this function, "cout << lines[i] << endl;", it is fine. But when I then check this in the main program like this, it is all messed up: for (i=0; i<10000; i++) cout << largefilecontents[i] << endl; So within the function LoadLargeFile(), the results are fine, but without LoadLargeFile(), the results are all messed up. My guess is that the char ** &lines part of the function isn't right, but I do not know what this should be. Could someone help me? Thank you in advance!
