  • Bring Office 2003 Menus Back to 2010 with UBitMenu

    - by Matthew Guay
    Are you having trouble getting used to the Ribbon interface in Office 2010?  Here’s how you can roll back the clock a bit and bring back the familiar menus and toolbars from 2003. The Office 2007 Ribbon was both praised and criticized.  While many users felt they were more productive with the new interface, others felt frustrated searching for commands they had memorized in older versions of Office.  Now, with Office 2010, the ribbon interface has been brought to every app in the Office suite, and is integrated into many newer programs from Microsoft. If you’re moving from Office 2003, using UBitMenu allows you to add the old familiar menus back along with the new Ribbon interface for an easier learning curve. Also, with the customizability of Office 2010, we can strip away the extra Ribbon tabs to make it more like 2003. Get the 2003 Menus and Toolbars Back in Office 2010 Download UBitMenu (link below), and install as normal.  Make sure all of your Office programs are closed during the installation.  This handy utility is very small, and installed amazingly quick. Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint and there’s now a new Menu tab beside Home in the Ribbon.  Now you can access all of your favorite old Office commands in the familiar menus, and access many of the newer Office features such as SmartArt.   Here’s a close-up of the toolbar.  Notice that the layout is very similar to that of Word 2003. You can access all of the new Transitions in PowerPoint 2010 from the menu bar.   The menu in Excel even included support for the new PivotTable and PivotCharts Wizard. One problem we noticed was that the toolbars were condensed to a drop-down menu if the Office window was less than 870px wide.  This may be a frustration to users with low-resolution displays, and you might want to use the Office Apps maximized. Get Rid of the Ribbon Now that you’ve got the old menus back, you can get rid of the extra ribbon tabs if you’d like.  Office 2010 lets you customize your ribbon and remove tabs, so let’s get rid of all the other tabs except for our new Menu tab.  In our example we’re using Word, but you can do it in Excel or PowerPoint the same way. Click the File tab and select Options. Alternately, in the Menu tab, select Tools and then Word Options. Select Customize Ribbon on the left sidebar, then uncheck the boxes beside all the ribbon tabs you want to hide on the right.  Click Ok when you’re finished. While you’re at it, you can change the default color scheme as well. Note: The color change will automatically change the color scheme in all of the Office apps, so you’ll only need to do that once. Now the ribbon only has 2 tabs…the File tab for the new Backstage View, and the UBitMenu tab we just installed.  It almost has the appearance Word 2003, but with the new features of Word 2010!  You’ll need to repeat these steps in Excel and PowerPoint if you want to customize their ribbon the same.   Conclusion If you’ve been having a hard time getting used to Office 2010, UBitMenu is a great way to get familiar with the new interface, or simply stay productive with your old tricks.  We do wish it supported the other Office applications like OneNote and Outlook. That doesn’t make it a deal breaker though, it can make the learning curve easier in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. UBitMenu is free for personal use, and available at a very reasonable price for businesses. If you’re using Office 2007 and not a fan of the Ribbon, UBitMenu works for it as well. • More Quick Interview Tips

    - by Ajarn Mark Caldwell
    In the last couple of years I have conducted a lot of interviews for application and database developers for my company, and I can tell you that the little things can mean a lot.  Here are a few quick tips to help you make a good first impression. A year ago I gave you my #1 interview tip: Do some basic research!  And a year later, I am still stunned by how few technical people do the most basic of research.  I can only guess that it is because it is so engrained in our psyche that technical competence is everything (see How to Manage Technical Employees for more on this idea) that we forget or ignore the importance of soft skills and the art of the interview.  Or maybe it is because we have heard the stories of the uber-geek who has zero personal skills but still makes a fortune working for Microsoft.  Well, here’s another quick tip:  You’re probably not as good as he is; and a large number of companies actually run small to medium sized teams and can’t really afford to have the social outcast in the group.  In a small team, everyone has to get along well, and that’s an important part of what I’m evaluating during the interview process. My #2 tip is to act alive!  I typically conduct screening interviews by phone before I bring someone in for an in-person.  I don’t care how laid-back you are or if you have a “quiet personality”, when we are talking, ACT like you are happy I called and you are interested in getting the job.  If you sound like you are bored-to-death and that you would be perfectly happy to never work again, I am perfectly happy to help you attain that goal, and I’ll move on to the next candidate. And closely related to #2, perhaps we’ll call it #2.1 is this tip:  When I call you on the phone for the interview, don’t answer your phone by just saying, “Hello”.  You know that the odds are about 999-to-1 that it is me calling for the interview because we have specifically arranged this time slot for the call.  And you can see on the caller ID that it is not one of your buddies calling, so identify yourself.  Don’t make me question whether I dialed the right number.  Answer your phone with a, “Hello, this is ___<your full name preferred, but at least your first name>___.”.  And when I say, “Hi, <your name>, this is Mark from <my company>” it would be really nice to hear you say, “Hi, Mark, I have been expecting your call.”  This sets the perfect tone for our conversation.  I know I have the right person; you are professional enough and interested enough in the job or contract to remember your appointments; and now we can move on to a little intro segment and get on with the reason for our call. As crazy as it sounds, I’ve actually had phone interviews that went like this: <Ring…> You:  “Hello?” Me:  “Hi, this is Mark from _______” You:  “Yeah?” Me:  “Is this <your name>?” You:  “Yeah.” Me:  “I had this time in my calendar for us to talk…were you expecting my call?” You:  “Oh, yeah, sure…” I used to be nice and would try to go ahead with the interview even after this bad start, thinking I was giving the candidate the benefit of the doubt…a second chance…but more often than not it was a struggle and 10 minutes into what was supposed to be a 45-minute call, I’m looking for a way to hang up without being rude myself.  It never worked out.  I never brought that person in for an in-person interview, much less offered them the job or contract.  Who knows, maybe they were some sort of wunderkind that we missed out on.  What I know is that they would never fit in with the rest of the team, and around here that is absolutely critical. So, in conclusion… Act alive!  Identify yourself!  And do at least the very basic of research.

  • The Apple iPad &ndash; I&rsquo;m gonna get it!

    - by Sahil Malik
    Ad:: SharePoint 2007 Training in .NET 3.5 technologies (more information). Well, heck, here comes another non-techie blogpost. You know I’m a geek, so I love gadgets! I found it RATHER interesting to see all the negative news on the blogosphere about the iPad. The main bitch points are - No Multi tasking No Flash Just a bigger iPhone. So here’s the deal! My view is, the above 3 are EXACTLY what I had personally hoped for in the Apple iPad. Before the release, I had gone on the record saying - “If the Apple Tablet is able to run full fledged iTunes (so I can get rid of iTunes on my desktop, I don’t like iTunes on Windows), can browse the net, can read PDFs, and will be under $1000, I’ll buy it”. Well, so, the released iPad wasn’t exactly like my dream tablet. The biggest downer IMO was it’s inability to run full iTunes. But, really, in retrospect, I like the newly released iPad. And here is why. No Multi tasking and No Flash, means much better battery life. Frankly, I rarely multi task on my laptop/desktop .. yeah I know my OS does .. but ME – I don’t multi task, and I don’t think you do either!! As I type this blogpost, I have a few windows running behind the scenes, but they are simply waiting for me to get back to them. The only thing truly running and I am making use of, other than this blogost, is media player playing some music – which the iPad can do. Also, I am logged into IM/Email – which again, iPad can do via notifications. It does the limited multitasking I need, without chewing down on batteries. Smart thinking, precisely the reason I love the iPhone. I don’t want a bulky battery consuming machine. Lack of flash? Okay sure, I can’t see Hulu on my iPad. That’s some loss. I can see youtube. Also, per Adobe I can’t see some porn sites, which I don’t want to see on my iPad. But, Flash is heavy. Especially flash video. My dream is to see silverlight run on the iPhone and iPad. No flash = not such a big loss. Speaking of battery life – 10 hours is plenty. I haven’t been away from electricity for that long usually, so I’m okay with charging it up when it runs low. It’s really not such a big deal honestly. Finally, eBook functionality – wow! I went on the record saying, eBook readers are not for me, but seriously, the iPad is perfect for my eBook needs at least. And as far it being just a bigger iPhone? I’ve always wanted a bigger iPhone, precisely for the eBook reading experience. I love my iPhone, I love the apps on it. The only thing that sucks about the iPhone is battery life, but other than that, it is the best gadget I have ever bought! And something that runs on mobile chips, is that thin, and those newly written apps .. mail, calendar .. I am very very excited to get my iPad, which will be the 64gig 3G version. The biggest plus in an iPad ……… no contract on data. I am *hoping*, this means that I can buy a SIM card in Europe, and use the iPad here. That would be killer awesome! But hey, if I had to pick downers in the iPad, they would be - - I wish they had a 128G Version. Now that we have a good video viewing machine, I know I’d chew up space quickly.- Sync over WIFI, seriously Apple.  Both for iPhone and iPad.- 3 month wait!!- Existing iPhone users should get a discount on the iPad data plan. • What Counts for a DBA: Humility

    - by drsql
    In football (the American sort, naturally,) there are a select group of players who really hope to never have their names called during the game. They are members of the offensive line, and their job is to protect other players so they can deliver the ball to the goal to score points. When you do hear their name called, it is usually because they made a mistake and the player that they were supposed to protect ended up flat on his back admiring the clouds in the sky instead of advancing towards the goal to scoring point. Even on the rare occasion their name is called for a good reason, it is usually because they were making up for a teammate who had made a mistake and they covered up for them. The role of offensive lineman is a very good analogy for the role of the admin DBA. As a DBA, you are called on to be barely visible and rarely heard, protecting the company data assets tenaciously, even though the enemies to our craft surround us on all sides:. Developers: Cries of ‘foul!’ often ensue when the DBA says that they want data integrity to be stringently enforced and that documentation is needed so they can support systems, mostly because every error occurrence in the enterprise will be initially blamed on the database and fall to the DBA to troubleshoot. Insisting too loudly may bring those cries of ‘foul’ that somewhat remind you of when your 2 year old daughter didn't want to go to bed. The result of this petulance is that the next "enemy" gets involved. Managers: The concerns that motivate DBAs to argue will not excite the kind of manager who gets his technical knowledge from a glossy magazine filled with buzzwords, charts, and pretty pictures. However, the other programmers in the organization will tickle the buzzword void with a stream of new-sounding ideas and technologies constantly, along with warnings that if we did care about data integrity and document things, the budget would explode! In contrast, the arguments for integrity of data and supportability tend to be about as exciting as watching grass grow, and far too many manager types seem to prefer to smoke it than watch it. Packaged Applications: The DBA is rarely given a chance to review a new application that is being demonstrated for the enterprise, and rarer still is the DBA that gets a veto of an application because the database it uses has clearly been created by an architect that won't read a data modeling book because he is already married. More often than not this leads to hours of work for the DBA trying to performance-tune a database with a menagerie of rules that must be followed to stay within the  application support agreement, such as no changing indexes on a third party schema even though there are 10 billion rows instead of the 10 thousand when the system was last optimized. Hardware Failures: Physical disks, networking devices, memory, and backup devices all come with a measure known as ‘mean time before failure’ and it is never listed in centuries or eons. More like years, and the term ‘mean’ indicates that half of the devices are expected to fail before that, which by my calendar means any hour of any day that it wants to fail it will. But the DBA sucks it up and does the task at hand with a humility that makes them nearly invisible to all but the most observant person in the organization. The best DBAs I know are so proactive in their relentless pursuit of perfection that they detect many of the bugs (which they seldom caused) in the system well before they become a problem. In the end the DBA gets noticed for one of same two reasons as the offensive lineman. You make a mistake, like dropping a critical production database that had never been backed up; or when a system crashes for any reason whatsoever and they are on the spot with troubleshooting and system restoration plans that have been well thought out, tested, and tested again. Not because there is any glory in it, but because it is what they do.   Note: The characteristics of the professions referred to in this blog are meant to be overstated stereotypes for humorous effect, and even some DBAs aren't quite this perfect. If you are reading this far and haven’t hand written a 10 page flaming comment about how you are a _______ and you aren’t like this, that is awesome. Not every situation applies to everyone, but if you have never worked with a bad packaged app, a magazine trained manager, programmers that aren’t team players, or hardware that occasionally failed, relax and go have a unicorn sandwich before you wake up.

  • Eloqua Experience 2013: Mystique, Modern Marketing and Masterful Engagement

    - by Mike Stiles
    The following is a guest post from Erick Mott, a social business leader at Oracle Eloqua. There’s a growing gap between 20th century marketing and a modern marketing way of doing business. I can’t think of a better example of modern marketing in action than what more than 2,000 people experienced in San Francisco at #EE13; customer-obsession, multichannel content, and real-time engagement all coming together at one extraordinary event. This was my first Eloqua Experience as a new Oracle Eloqua employee. In weeks prior, I heard about the mystique but didn’t know what to expect. What I’ve come to understand with more clarity is everything we do revolves around customer success, and we operate and educate at all times with these five tenets in mind: 1. Targeting: Really Know Your Buyer 2. Engagement: Create a 1:1 Relationship 3. Conversion: Visualize Guided Thinking 4. Analysis: Learn What’s Working 5. Marketing Technology: Enable and Extend the Cloud Product News from Eloqua Experience 2013 We made some announcements that John Stetic, VP of Products, Oracle Eloqua covers in this brief ‘Modern Marketing Minute’ video recorded after Wednesday’s keynote; summarized below, too: Oracle Eloqua AdFocus: While understanding the impact of a specific marketing channel was formerly relegated to marketers’ wish lists, the channels we now focus on are digital, social, and mobile. AdFocus gives marketers a single platform to dynamically create, manage and measure display ads alongside owned and earned media. AdFocus enables marketers to target only key accounts or prospects you want to reach with display ads, as well as provide creative content or personalized ad copy based on their persona and activities. Oracle Eloqua Profiler: The details of what we now know about customers have expanded into a universal customer profile, which can be used to create highly targeted segments. Marketers now can take data that’s not even stored in Eloqua to help targeted and score prospects for a complete, multichannel view of the customer. Profiler gives sales reps one, detailed view of the prospect to extend views beyond Oracle Eloqua asset activity (emails, forms, page views) to any external assets stored in Oracle Eloqua. Marketing Resource Management: New capabilities create more secure and controlled access to marketing resources and data. New integrations provide greater insight into campaign resources and management through a central marketing calendar and simplify resource management. Integrated Sales and Marketing Funnel: An integrated sales and marketing funnel view gives marketing and sales users, cross-functional teams, and executive management a consistent and clear view of pipeline performance. It also quickly provides users with historical metrics across different time spans and conditions. Eloqua AppCloud: More than 20 new AppCloud partners have been added to the community, which now includes 100+ apps. Eloqua AppCloud now provides modern marketers with an even broader range of marketing applications that help expand and enrich sales and marketing efforts; easily accessible in the Topliners Community. Social Capabilities: Recent integration between Oracle Eloqua and Oracle Social Relationship Management (SRM) deliver a comprehensive, scalable and integrated modern marketing solution. New capabilities include better tracking of social activities for a more complete customer profile. Engage Facebook custom audiences with AdFocus to deliver ads and meaningful experiences through trusted social networks. Biggest and Best Eloqua Experience. There’s a lot of talk in the industry about the Marketing Cloud. At Oracle Eloqua, we have been on a mission of delivering the most advanced and integrated modern marketing technology on the planet. It’s not just a concept but reality with proven execution, as seen first-hand this week in San Francisco. In this video, Kevin Akeroyd, SVP of Oracle Eloqua, provides some highlights of what made this year’s Eloqua Experience, exceptional, including Steve Woods’ presentation about the journey of modern marketers and Andrea Ward’s conversation with Vince Gilligan, creator of the Breaking Bad television series. The 2013 Markie Awards The Oracle Eloqua Marketing Cloud was best exemplified for me as 19 Markies were awarded to customers for their exceptional creativity and results as modern marketers. Wow, what a night to remember with so many committed and talented people working to create an extraordinary experience! To learn more about how to become a modern marketer, check out these resources. We look forward to seeing you next year at Eloqua Experience. • Windows Phone 8 Launch Event Summary

    - by Tim Murphy
    Today was the official coming out party for Windows Phone 8.  Below is a summary of the launch event.  There is a lot here to stay with me. They started with a commercial staring Joe Belfiore show how his Windows Phone 8 was personal too him which highlights something I think Microsoft has done well over the last couple of event: spotlight how Windows Phone is a different experience from other smartphones.  Joe actually called iPhone and Android “tired old metaphors" and explained that the idea around Windows Phone was to “reinvent the smartphone around you” as “the most personal smartphone operating system”.  The is the message that they need to drive home in their adds. The only real technical aspect we found out was that they have optimized the operating system around the dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip set.  It seems like all of the other hardware goodies had already been announced.  The remainder of the event was centered around new features of the OS and app announcements. So what are we getting?  The integrated features included lock screen live tile, Data Sense, Rooms and Kids corner.  There wasn’t a lot of information about it, but Joe also talked about apps not just having live tiles, but being live apps that could integrate with wallet and the hub. The lock screen will now be able to be personalized with live tile data or even a photo slide show.  This gives the lock screen an even better ability to give you the information you want to know before you even unlock the phone. The Kids Corner allows you as a parent to setup an area on your phone that you kids can go into an use it without disturbing your apps.  They can play games or use apps that you have designated and will only see those apps.  It even has a special lock screen gesture just for the kids corner. Rooms allow you to organize your phone around the groups of people in your life.  You get a shared calendar, a room wall as well as shared notes beyond just being able to send messages to a group.  You can also invite people not on the Windows Phone platform to access an online version of the room. Data Sense is a new feature that gives you better control and understanding of your data plan usage.  You can see which applications are using data and it can automatically adjust they way your phone behaves as you get close to your data limit. Add to these features the fact that the entire Windows ecosystem is integrated with SkyDrive and you have an available anywhere experience that is unequaled by any other platform.  Your document, photos and music are available on your Windows Phone, Window 8 device and Xbox.  SkyDrive also doesn’t limit how long you can keep files like the competing cloud platforms and give more free storage. It was interesting the way they made the launch event more personal.  First Joe brought out his own kids to demo the Kids Corner.  They followed this up by bringing out Jessica Alba to discuss her experience on the Windows Phone 8.  They need to keep putting a face on the product instead of just showing features as a cold list. Then we get to apps.  We knew that the new Skype was coming, but we found out that it was created in such a way that it can receive calls without running consistently in the background which would eat up battery.  This announcement was follow by the coming Facebook app that is optimized for Windows Phone 8.  As a matter of fact they indicated that just after launch the marketplace would have 46 out of the top 50 apps used by all smartphone platforms.  In a rational world this tide with over 120,000 apps currently in the marketplace there should be no more argument about the Windows Phone ecosystem. For those of us who develop for Windows Phone and weren’t on the early adoption program will finally get access to the SDK tomorrow after an announcement at Build (more waiting).  Perhaps we will get a few new features then. In the end I wouldn’t say there were any huge surprises, but I am really excited about getting my hands on the devices next month and starting to develop.  Stay tuned. del.icio.us Tags: Windows Phone,Windows Phone 8,Winodws Phone 8 Launch,Joe Belfiore,Jessica Alba

  • 2012&ndash;The End Of The World Review

    - by Tim Murphy
    The end of the world must be coming.  Not because the Mayan calendar says so, but because Microsoft is innovating more than Apple.  It has been a crazy year, with pundits declaring not that the end of the world is coming, but that the end of Microsoft is coming.  Let’s take a look at what 2012 has brought us. The beginning of year is a blur.  I managed to get to TechEd in June which was the first time that I got to take a deep dive into Windows 8 and many other things that had been announced in 2011.  The promise I saw in these products was really encouraging.  The thought of being able to run Windows 8 from a thumb drive or have Hyper-V native to the OS told me that at least for developers good things were coming. I finally got my feet wet with Windows 8 with the developer preview just prior to the RTM.  While the initial experience was a bit of a culture shock I quickly grew to love it.  The media still seems to hold little love for the “reimagined” platform, but I think that once people spend some time with it they will enjoy the experience and what the FUD mongers say will fade into the background.  With the launch of the OS we finally got a look at the Surface.  I think this is a bold entry into the tablet market.  While I wish it was a little more affordable I am already starting to see them in the wild being used by non-techies. I was waiting for Windows Phone 8 at least as much as Windows 8, probably more.  The new hardware, better marketing and new OS features I think are going to finally push us to the point of having a real presence in the smartphone market.  I am seeing a number of iPhone users picking up a Nokia Lumia 920 and getting rid of their brand new iPhone 5.  The only real debacle that I saw around the launch was when they held back the SDK from general developers. Shortly after the launch events came Build 2012.  I was extremely disappointed that I didn’t make it to this year’s Build.  Even if they weren’t handing out Surface and Lumia devices I think the atmosphere and content were something that really needed to be experience in person.  Hopefully there will be a Build next year and it’s schedule will be announced soon.  As you would expect Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 development were the mainstay of the conference, but improvements in Azure also played a key role.  This movement of services to the cloud will continue and we need to understand where it best fits into the solutions we build. Lower on the radar this year were Office 2013, SQL Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012.  Their glory stolen by the consumer OS and hardware announcements, these new releases are no less important.  Companies will see significant improvements in performance and capabilities if they upgrade.  At TechEd they had shown some of the new features of Windows Server 2012 around hardware integration and Hyper-V performance which absolutely blew me away.  It is our job to bring these important improvements to our company’s attention so that they can be leveraged. Personally, the consulting business in 2012 was the busiest it has been in a long time.  More companies were ready to attack new projects after several years of putting them on the back burner.  I also worked to bring back momentum to the Chicago Information Technology Architects Group.  Both the community and clients are excited about the new technologies that have come out in 2012 and now it is time to deliver. What does 2013 have in store.  I don’t see it be quite as exciting as 2012.  Microsoft will be releasing the Surface Pro in January and it seems that we will see more frequent OS update for Windows.  There are rumors that we may see a Surface phone in 2013.  It has also been announced that there will finally be a rework of the XBox next fall.  The new year will also be a time for us in the development community to take advantage of these new tools and devices.  After all, it is what we build on top of these platforms that will attract more consumers and corporations to using them. Just as I am 99.999% sure that the world is not going to end this year, I am also sure that Microsoft will move on and that most of this negative backlash from the media is actually fear and jealousy.  In the end I think we have a promising year ahead of us. del.icio.us Tags: Microsoft,Pundits,Mayans,Windows 8,Windows Phone 8,Surface

  • FullCalendar events from asp.net ASHX page not displaying

    - by Steve Howard
    Hi I have been trying to add some events to the fullCalendar using a call to a ASHX page using the following code. Page script: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ header: { left: 'prev,next today', center: 'title', right: 'month, agendaWeek,agendaDay' }, events: 'FullCalendarEvents.ashx' }) }); c# code: public class EventsData { public int id { get; set; } public string title { get; set; } public string start { get; set; } public string end { get; set; } public string url { get; set; } public int accountId { get; set; } } public class FullCalendarEvents : IHttpHandler { private static List<EventsData> testEventsData = new List<EventsData> { new EventsData {accountId = 0, title = "test 1", start = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd"), id=0}, new EventsData{ accountId = 1, title="test 2", start = DateTime.Now.AddHours(2).ToString("yyyy-MM-dd"), id=2} }; public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { context.Response.ContentType = "application/json."; context.Response.Write(GetEventData()); } private string GetEventData() { List<EventsData> ed = testEventsData; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append("["); foreach (var data in ed) { sb.Append("{"); sb.Append(string.Format("id: {0},", data.id)); sb.Append(string.Format("title:'{0}',", data.title)); sb.Append(string.Format("start: '{0}',", data.start)); sb.Append("allDay: false"); sb.Append("},"); } sb.Remove(sb.Length - 1, 1); sb.Append("]"); return sb.ToString(); } } The ASHX page gets called and returnd the following data: [{id: 0,title:'test 1',start: '2010-06-07',allDay: false},{id: 2,title:'test 2',start: '2010-06-07',allDay: false}] The call to the ASHX page does not display any results, but if I paste the values returned directly into the events it displays correctly. I am I have been trying to get this code to work for a day now and I can't see why the events are not getting set. Any help or advise on how I can get this to work would be appreciated. Steve

  • jQuery DatePicker - How to highlight certain days every month?

    - by Sergio
    Hi I have a jquery datepicker which is renders the current date by default as a full calendar. Before this is rendered I get a list of days from the server via ajax of days that need to be highlighted for the current month. The code for this is as follows: $.get("Note/GetActionDates/?orgID=" + orgID + "&month=" + month +"&year=" + year, null, function(result) { RenderCalendar(result); }, "json"); function RenderCalendar(dates) { $("#actionCal").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yy', beforeShowDay: function(thedate) { var theday = thedate.getDate(); if ($.inArray(theday, dates) == -1) { return [true, "", ""]; } else { return [true, "specialDate", "Actions Today"]; } } }); } This is all good, but I would like the highlighted dates to update when the user clicks to a different month. I can modify the jquery datepicker initialise code with the following code: onChangeMonthYear: function(year, month, inst) { //get new array of dates for that month $.get("Note/GetActionDates/?orgID=" + orgID + "&month=" + month + "&year=" + year, null, function(result) { RenderCalendar(result); }, "json"); } But this doesn't seem to work. Could anyone show me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! :) UPDATE - Working Code Thanks for the help! I have tweaked the code from petersendidit as follows and it now works. Gonna add a little more code to remove duplicate dates from the dates array but aside from that its all good. $("#actionCal").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yyyy', beforeShowDay: function(thedate) { var theday = thedate.getDate() + "/" + (thedate.getMonth() + 1) + "/" + thedate.getFullYear(); if ($.inArray(theday, actionCalDates) == -1) { return [true, "", ""]; } else { return [true, "specialDate", "Actions Today"]; } }, onChangeMonthYear: function(year, month, inst) { dateCount = 0; getDates(orgID, month, year); } }); function getDates(orgID, month, year) { dateCount += 1; if (dateCount < 4) { $.ajax({ url: "Note/GetActionDates/", data: { 'orgID': orgID, 'month': month, 'year': year }, type: "GET", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { actionCalDates = actionCalDates.concat(result); getDates(orgID, month + 1, year); getDates(orgID, month - 1, year); } }); } }

  • Asp.net MVC and MOSS 2010 integration

    - by Robert Koritnik
    Just a sidenote: I'm not sure whether I should post this to serverfault as well, because some MOSS admin may have some info for me as well? A bit of explanation first (without Asp.net MVC) Is it possible to integrate the two? Is it possible to write an application that would share at least credential information with MOSS? I have to write a MOSS application that has to do with these technologies: MOSS 2010 Personal client certificates authentication (most probably on USB keys) Active Directory Federation Services Separate SQL DB that would serve application specific data (separate as not being part of MOSS DB) How should it work? Users should authenticate using personal certificates into MOSS 2010 There would be a certain part of MOSS that would be related to my custom application This application should only authorize certain users via AD FS - I guess these users should have a certain security claim attached to them This application should manage users (that have access to this app) with additional (app specific) security claims related to this application (as additional application level authorization rights for individual application parts) This application should use custom SQL 2008 DB heavily with its own data This application should have the possibility to integrate with external systems as well (Exchange for instance to inject calendar entries, ERP systems etc) This application should be able to export its data (from its DB) to files. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice if the app could add these files to MOSS and attach authorization info to them so only users with sufficient rights would be able to view/open these files. Why Asp.net MVC then? I'm very well versed in Asp.net MVC (also with the latest version) and I haven't done anything on Sharepoint since version 2003 (which doesn't do me no good or prepare me for the latest version in any way shape or form). This project will most probably be a death march project so I would rather write my application as a UI rich Asp.net MVC application and somehow integrate it into MOSS. But not only via a link, because I would like to at least share credentials, so users wouldn't need to re-login when accessing my app. Using Asp.net MVC I would at least have the possibility to finish on time or be less death marching. Is this at all possible? Questions Is it possible to integrate Asp.net MVC into MOSS as described above? If integration is not possible, would it be possible to create a completely MOSS based application that would work as described? Which parts of MOSS 2010 should I use to accomplish what I need?

  • Can I retain a Google apps session token permanently for a specific user who logs into my google app

    - by Ali
    Hi guys, is it possible to retain upon authorization a single session token for a user who signs into my gogle application. CUrrently my application seems to every now and then require the user to authenticate into google apps. I think it has to do with session dying out or so. I have the following code: function getCurrentUrl() { global $_SERVER; $php_request_uri = htmlentities(substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], 0, strcspn($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], "\n\r")), ENT_QUOTES); if (isset($_SERVER['HTTPS']) && strtolower($_SERVER['HTTPS']) == 'on') { $protocol = 'https://'; } else { $protocol = 'http://'; } $host = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']; if ($_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] != '' && (($protocol == 'http://' && $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] != '80') || ($protocol == 'https://' && $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] != '443'))) { $port = ':' . $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT']; } else { $port = ''; } return $protocol . $host . $port . $php_request_uri; } function getAuthSubUrl($n=false) { $next = $n?$n:getCurrentUrl(); $scope = 'http://docs.google.com/feeds/documents https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/ https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/ https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/ https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom/'; $secure = false; $session = true; //echo Zend_Gdata_AuthSub::getAuthSubTokenUri($next, $scope, $secure, $session);; return Zend_Gdata_AuthSub::getAuthSubTokenUri($next, $scope, $secure, $session).(isset($_SESSION['domain'])?'&hd='.$_SESSION['domain']:''); } function _regenerate_token() { global $BASE_URL; if(!$_SESSION['token']) { if(isset($_GET['token'])): $_SESSION['token'] = Zend_Gdata_AuthSub::getAuthSubSessionToken($_GET['token']); return; else: _regenerate_sessions(); _redirect(getAuthSubUrl($BASE_URL . '/index.php?'.$_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'])); endif; } } _regenerate_token(); I know I'm doing it all wrong here and I don't know why :( I have a CONSUMER SECRET code but only use it whereever I need to access a google service. However something is wrong with my authentication as the user has to periodically 'grant access to my application' and reauthorise himself... help please

  • Embedded Javascript in Master Page or Pages That Use Master Page throw "Object Expected Error"

    - by Philter
    I'm semi-new to writing ASP.Net applications using master pages and I've run into an issue I've spent some time on but can't seem to solve. My situation is that I have a master page with a structure that looks like this: <head runat="server"> <title>Test Site</title> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Default.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="js/Default.js" /> <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0"/> <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache"/> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"/> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="cphHead" runat="server"> </asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="divHeader"> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="cphPageTitle" runat="server"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </div> <div id="divMainContent"> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="cphMainContent" runat="server"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </div> </div> </form> </body> I then have a page that uses this master page that contains the following: <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="cphHead" runat="server"> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" > function test() { alert("Hello World"); } </script> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="cphMainContent" runat="server"> <fieldset> <img alt="Select As Of Date" src="Images/Calendar.png" id="aAsOfDate" class="clickable" runat="server" onclick="test();" /> <asp:Button runat="server" CssClass="buttonStyle" ID="btnSubmit" Text="Submit" OnClick="btnSubmit_Clicked"/> </fieldset> </asp:Content> When I run this page and click on the image I get an "Object Expected" error. However, if I place the test function into my Default.js external file it will function perfectly. I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. Any ideas?

  • How do I add a custom view to iPhone app's UI?

    - by Dr Dork
    I'm diving into iPad development and I'm still learning how everything works together. I understand how to add standard view (i.e. buttons, tableviews, datepicker, etc.) to my UI using both Xcode and Interface Builder, but now I'm trying to add a custom calendar control (TapkuLibrary) to the left window in my UISplitView application. My question is, if I have a custom view (in this case, the TKCalendarMonthView), how do I programmatically add it to one of the views in my UI (in this case, the RootViewController)? Below are some relevant code snippets from my project... RootViewController interface @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController <NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate> { DetailViewController *detailViewController; NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet DetailViewController *detailViewController; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; - (void)insertNewObject:(id)sender; TKCalendarMonthView interface @class TKMonthGridView,TKCalendarDayView; @protocol TKCalendarMonthViewDelegate, TKCalendarMonthViewDataSource; @interface TKCalendarMonthView : UIView { id <TKCalendarMonthViewDelegate> delegate; id <TKCalendarMonthViewDataSource> dataSource; NSDate *currentMonth; NSDate *selectedMonth; NSMutableArray *deck; UIButton *left; NSString *monthYear; UIButton *right; UIImageView *shadow; UIScrollView *scrollView; } @property (readonly,nonatomic) NSString *monthYear; @property (readonly,nonatomic) NSDate *monthDate; @property (assign,nonatomic) id <TKCalendarMonthViewDataSource> dataSource; @property (assign,nonatomic) id <TKCalendarMonthViewDelegate> delegate; - (id) init; - (void) reload; - (void) selectDate:(NSDate *)date; Thanks in advance for all your help! I still have a ton to learn, so I apologize if the question is absurd in any way. I'm going to continue researching this question right now!

  • Cancel outlook meeting requests via MailMessage in C#

    - by BTmuney
    I'm creating an application using the ASP.NET MVC 1 framework in C#, where I have users that register for events. Upon registering, I create an outlook meeting request public string BuildMeetingRequest(DateTime start, DateTime end, string attendees, string organizer, string subject, string description, string UID, string location) { System.Text.StringBuilder sw = new System.Text.StringBuilder(); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VCALENDAR"); sw.AppendLine("VERSION:2.0"); sw.AppendLine("METHOD:REQUEST"); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VEVENT"); sw.AppendLine(attendees); sw.AppendLine("CLASS:PUBLIC"); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("CREATED:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", DateTime.UtcNow)); sw.AppendLine("DESCRIPTION:" + description); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTEND:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", end)); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTSTAMP:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", DateTime.UtcNow)); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTSTART:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", start)); sw.AppendLine("ORGANIZER;CN=\"NAME\":mailto:" + organizer); sw.AppendLine("SEQUENCE:0"); sw.AppendLine("UID:" + UID); sw.AppendLine("LOCATION:" + location); sw.AppendLine("SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:" + subject); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VALARM"); sw.AppendLine("TRIGGER:-PT720M"); sw.AppendLine("ACTION:DISPLAY"); sw.AppendLine("DESCRIPTION:Reminder"); sw.AppendLine("END:VALARM"); sw.AppendLine("END:VEVENT"); sw.AppendLine("END:VCALENDAR"); return sw.ToString(); } And once built, I use MailMessage, with an alternate view to send out the meeting request: meetingInfo = BuildMeetingRequest(start, end, attendees, organizer, subject, description, UID, location); System.Net.Mime.ContentType mimeType = new System.Net.Mime.ContentType("text/calendar; method=REQUEST"); AlternateView ICSview = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString(meetingInfo,mimeType); MailMessage message = new MailMessage(); message.To.Add(to); message.From = new MailAddress(from); message.AlternateViews.Add(ICSview); SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(); client.Send(message); When users get the email in outlook, it shows up as a meeting request, as opposed to a normal email. This works well for sending out updates to the meeting request as well. The only problem that I am having is that I do not know the proper format for sending out a cancellation. I've attempted to examine some meeting request cancellations in text editors and can't seem to pinpoint the difference in the format between cancelling/creating. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

  • VerifyError When Running jUnit Test on Android 1.6

    - by DKnowles
    Here's what I'm trying to run on Android 1.6: package com.healthlogger.test; public class AllTests extends TestSuite { public static Test suite() { return new TestSuiteBuilder(AllTests.class).includeAllPackagesUnderHere().build(); } } and: package com.healthlogger.test; public class RecordTest extends AndroidTestCase { /** * Ensures that the constructor will not take a null data tag. */ @Test(expected=AssertionFailedError.class) public void testNullDataTagInConstructor() { Record r = new Record(null, Calendar.getInstance(), "Data"); fail("Failed to catch null data tag."); } } The main project is HealthLogger. These are run from a separate test project (HealthLoggerTest). HealthLogger and jUnit4 are in HealthLoggerTest's build path. jUnit4 is also in HealthLogger's build path. The class "Record" is located in com.healthlogger. Commenting out the "@Test..." and "Record r..." lines allows this test to run. When they are uncommented, I get a VerifyError exception. • Why is cell phone software still so primitive?

    - by Tomislav Nakic-Alfirevic
    I don't do mobile development, but it strikes me as odd that features like this aren't available by default on most phones: full text search: searches all address book contents, messages, anything else being a plus better call management: e.g. a rotating audio call log, meaning you always have the last N calls recorded for your listening pleasure later (your little girl just said her first "da-da" while you were on a business trip, you had a telephone job interview, you received complex instructions to do something etc.) bluetooth remote control (like e.g. anyRemote, but available by default on a bluetooth phone) no multitasking capabilities worth mentioning and in general no e.g. weekly software updates, making the phone much more usable (even if it had to be done over USB, rather than over the network). I'm sure I was dumbfounded by the lack or design of other features as well, but they don't come to mind right now. To clarify, I'm not talking about smartphones here: my plain, 2-year old phone has a CPU an order of magnitude faster than my first PC, about as much storage space and it's ridiculous how bad (slow, unwieldy) the software is and it's not one phone or one manufacturer. What keeps the (to me) obvious software functionality vacuum on a capable hardware platform from being filled up? Edit: I believe a clarification on the multitasking point might be beneficial. I'll use my phone as an example, although the point is much more general. The phone can multitask and in fact does: you can listen to music and do something else at the same time. On the other hand, the way the software has been designed makes multitasking next to useless. (Ditto with the external touch screen: it can take touch commands, but only one application makes use of it, and only with 3 commands.) To take the multitasking example to the extreme, if I plug my phone into my laptop and it registers as an external disk, it doesn't allow any kind of operation: messages, calling, calendar, everything out of reach, although I can receive a call. No "battery life" issue there: it's charging while connected. BTW, another example of design below the current state of the art: I don't see a phone on the horizon which will remember where in an audio or video file you were when you stopped listening/watching it last time (podcasts are a good use case). Simplistic rewind/fast forward functionality only aggravates the problem.

  • Summarising (permanently) data in a SQL table

    - by Cylindric
    Geetings, Stackers. I have a huge number of data-points in a SQL table, and I want to summarise them in a way reminiscent of RRD. Assuming a table such as ID | ENTITY_ID | SCORE_DATE | SCORE | SOME_OTHER_DATA ----+-----------+------------+-------+----------------- 1 | A00000001 | 01/01/2010 | 100 | some data 2 | A00000002 | 01/01/2010 | 105 | more data 3 | A00000003 | 01/01/2010 | 104 | various text ... | ......... | .......... | ..... | ... ... | A00009999 | 01/01/2010 | 101 | ... | A00000001 | 02/01/2010 | 104 | ... | A00000002 | 02/01/2010 | 119 | ... | A00000003 | 02/01/2010 | 119 | ... | ......... | .......... | ..... | ... | A00009999 | 02/01/2010 | 101 | arbitrary data ... | ......... | .......... | ..... | ... ... | A00000001 | 01/02/2010 | 104 | ... | A00000002 | 01/02/2010 | 119 | ... | A00000003 | 01/01/2010 | 119 | I want to end up with one record per entity, per month: ID | ENTITY_ID | SCORE_DATE | SCORE | ----+-----------+------------+-------+ ... | A00000001 | 01/01/2010 | 100 | ... | A00000002 | 01/01/2010 | 105 | ... | A00000003 | 01/01/2010 | 104 | ... | A00000001 | 01/02/2010 | 100 | ... | A00000002 | 01/02/2010 | 105 | ... | A00000003 | 01/02/2010 | 104 | (I Don't care about the SOME_OTHER_DATA - I'll pick something - either the first or last record probably.) What's an easy way of doing this on a regular basis, so that anything in the last calendar month is summarised in this way? At the moment my plan is kind of: For each EntityID For each month Find average score for all records in given month Update first record with results of previous step Delete all records that aren't the first I can't think of a neat way of doing it though, that doesn't involve lots of updates and iteration. This can either be done in a SQL Stored Procedure, or it can be incorporated into the .Net app that's generating this data, so the solution doesn't really need to be "one big SQL script", but can be :) (SQL-2005)

  • Generate a list of file names based on month and year arithmetic

    - by MacUsers
    How can I list the numbers 01 to 12 (one for each of the 12 months) in such a way so that the current month always comes last where the oldest one is first. In other words, if the number is grater than the current month, it's from the previous year. e.g. 02 is Feb, 2011 (the current month right now), 03 is March, 2010 and 09 is Sep, 2010 but 01 is Jan, 2011. In this case, I'd like to have [09, 03, 01, 02]. This is what I'm doing to determine the year: for inFile in os.listdir('.'): if inFile.isdigit(): month = months[int(inFile)] if int(inFile) <= int(strftime("%m")): year = strftime("%Y") else: year = int(strftime("%Y"))-1 mnYear = month + ", " + str(year) I don't have a clue what to do next. What should I do here? Update: I think, I better upload the entire script for better understanding. #!/usr/bin/env python import os, sys from time import strftime from calendar import month_abbr vGroup = {} vo = "group_lhcb" SI00_fig = float(2.478) months = tuple(month_abbr) print "\n%-12s\t%10s\t%8s\t%10s" % ('VOs','CPU-time','CPU-time','kSI2K-hrs') print "%-12s\t%10s\t%8s\t%10s" % ('','(in Sec)','(in Hrs)','(*2.478)') print "=" * 58 for inFile in os.listdir('.'): if inFile.isdigit(): readFile = open(inFile, 'r') lines = readFile.readlines() readFile.close() month = months[int(inFile)] if int(inFile) <= int(strftime("%m")): year = strftime("%Y") else: year = int(strftime("%Y"))-1 mnYear = month + ", " + str(year) for line in lines[2:]: if line.find(vo)==0: g, i = line.split() s = vGroup.get(g, 0) vGroup[g] = s + int(i) sumHrs = ((vGroup[g]/60)/60) sumSi2k = sumHrs*SI00_fig print "%-12s\t%10s\t%8s\t%10.2f" % (mnYear,vGroup[g],sumHrs,sumSi2k) del vGroup[g] When I run the script, I get this: [root@serv07 usage]# ./test.py VOs CPU-time CPU-time kSI2K-hrs (in Sec) (in Hrs) (*2.478) ================================================== Jan, 2011 211201372 58667 145376.83 Dec, 2010 5064337 1406 3484.07 Feb, 2011 17506049 4862 12048.04 Sep, 2010 210874275 58576 145151.33 As I said in the original post, I like the result to be in this order instead: Sep, 2010 210874275 58576 145151.33 Dec, 2010 5064337 1406 3484.07 Jan, 2011 211201372 58667 145376.83 Feb, 2011 17506049 4862 12048.04 The files in the source directory reads like this: [root@serv07 usage]# ls -l total 3632 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1144972 Feb 9 19:23 01 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 556630 Feb 13 09:11 02 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 443782 Feb 11 17:23 02.bak -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1144556 Feb 14 09:30 09 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 370822 Feb 9 19:24 12 Did I give a better picture now? Update @Mark Ransom This is the result from Mark's suggestion: [root@serv07 usage]# ./test.py VOs CPU-time CPU-time kSI2K-hrs (in Sec) (in Hrs) (*2.478) ========================================================== Dec, 2010 5064337 1406 3484.07 Sep, 2010 210874275 58576 145151.33 Feb, 2011 17506049 4862 12048.04 Jan, 2011 211201372 58667 145376.83 As I said before, I'm looking for the result to b printed in this order: Sep, 2010 - Dec, 2010 - Jan, 2011 - Feb, 2011 Cheers!!

  • xsl:variable contains nodeset. How to output nth node of variable?

    - by dnagirl
    I am transforming an XML document. There is an attribute @prettydate that is a string similar to "Friday, May 7, 2010". I want to split that string and add links to the month and the year. I am using the exslt:strings module and I can add any other necessary EXSLT module. This is my code so far: <xsl:template match="//calendar"> <xsl:variable name="prettyparts"> <xsl:value-of select="str:split(@prettydate,', ')"/> </xsl:variable> <table class='day'> <thead> <caption><xsl:value-of select="$prettyparts[1]"/>, <a> <xsl:attribute name='href'><xsl:value-of select="$baseref"/>?date=<xsl:value-of select="@highlight"/>&amp;per=m</xsl:attribute> <xsl:value-of select='$prettyparts[2]'/> </a> <xsl:value-of select='$prettyparts[3]'/>, <a> <xsl:attribute name='href'><xsl:value-of select="$baseref"/>?date=<xsl:value-of select="@highlight"/>&amp;per=y</xsl:attribute> <xsl:value-of select='$prettyparts[4]'/> </a> </caption> <!--etcetera--> I have verified, by running $prettyparts through a <xml:for-each/> that I am getting the expected nodeset: <token>Friday</token> <token>May</token> <token>7</token> <token>2010</token> But no matter which way I attempt to refer to a particular <token> directly (not in a foreach) I get nothing or various errors to do with invalid types. Here's some of the syntax I've tried: <xsl:value-of select="$prettyparts[2]"/> <xsl:value-of select="$prettyparts/token[2]"/> <xsl:value-of select="exsl:node-set($prettyparts/token[2])"/> <xsl:value-of select="exsl:node-set($prettyparts/token)[2]"/> Any idea what the expression ought to be?

  • Building a QueryExpression where name field is either A or B

    - by Mike
    I'm trying to build a Dynamics CRM 4 query so that I can get calendar events that are named either "Event A" or "Event B". A QueryByAttribute doesn't seem to do the job as I cannot specify a condition where the field called "event_name" = "Event A" of "event_name" = "Event B". When using the QueryExpression, I've found the FilterExpression applies to the Referencing Entity. I don't know if the FilterExpression can be used on the Referenced Entity at all. The example below is something like what I want to achieve, though this would return an empty result set as it will go looking in the entity called "my_event_response" for a "name" attribute. It's starting to look like I will need to run several queries to get this but this is less efficient than if I can submit it all at once. ColumnSet columns = new ColumnSet(); columns.Attributes = new string[]{ "event_name", "eventid", "startdate", "city" }; ConditionExpression eventname1 = new ConditionExpression(); eventname1.AttributeName = "event_name"; eventname1.Operator = ConditionOperator.Equal; eventname1.Values = new string[] { "Event A" }; ConditionExpression eventname2 = new ConditionExpression(); eventname2.AttributeName = "event_name"; eventname2.Operator = ConditionOperator.Equal; eventname2.Values = new string[] { "Event B" }; FilterExpression filter = new FilterExpression(); filter.FilterOperator = LogicalOperator.Or; filter.Conditions = new ConditionExpression[] { eventname1, eventname2 }; LinkEntity link = new LinkEntity(); link.LinkCriteria = filter; link.LinkFromEntityName = "my_event"; link.LinkFromAttributeName = "eventid"; link.LinkToEntityName = "my_event_response"; link.LinkToAttributeName = "eventid"; QueryExpression query = new QueryExpression(); query.ColumnSet = columns; query.EntityName = EntityName.mbs_event.ToString(); query.LinkEntities = new LinkEntity[] { link }; RetrieveMultipleRequest request = new RetrieveMultipleRequest(); request.Query = query; return (RetrieveMultipleResponse)crmService.Execute(request); I'd appreciate some advice on how to get the data I need.

  • Add jquery link to returned text...

    - by Jerry
    Hi all I am trying to add two jquery plugins files to my application. When a user triggers my ajax event, the server will return text with a form button. The plugins (a jquery calendar) will work when the user clicks the form button inside the returned text . I believe I have to add the link inside the return text instead of the main page to let the code work, but not sure how to do this. I am giving out my code and need you experts opinions. Thanks. My main page html //required jquery plugins ...didn't work if I add them in the main application. <script type="text/javascript" src="JS/date.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="JS/datePicker.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="JS/selectWeek.js"></script> <div id="gameInfo"> //return text will be displayed here. </div> My returned text ...part of it.... <form> <div id=returnDiv> // the form input will be added here when a user clicks #addMatch button... </div> <tr> <td><input type="button" id="addMatch" name="addMatch" value="Add Match"/> </td> </tr> </form> My jquery $("#addMatch").live('click', function(){ //the code below will create a calender when a user click the link...I am not sure //where I should add my two jquery plugins link... $("#returnDiv").html("<td><input type='text' size='6' class='date-pick dp-applied'"+ "name='date'><a style='color:white;' class='dp-choose-date' title='Choose Date'"+ "href='#'>Date</a></td>"; return false; }); I hope I explain my question well. +1 to any reply...:D
