  • Best usb storage for my router, Asus RT-AC66U?

    I have the ASUS RT-AC66U and I want to add a USB storage to it. It has 2x USB, and Im already using one for my printer. So the last one I want to use to attach a USB storage, and I've read some reviews stating the throughput of the USB could be up to 18 mb/s. So in regard of USB storage, should I care about hard disk cache? Simple powered-over-usb seems to have 8 mb cache, other (externally powered) has 16 for instance.

  • USB disk not recognized after detaching from DVD player. What to do?

    I had one Transcend 4GB USB stick formatted to NTFS and was working fine. Today I inserted this disk into a DVD player, and it was saying, "loading". After a long time, noting happened, and it seemed that the stick (NTFS) is not recognized by it. I took out the stick and tried to reformat to FAT32. But the stick is not being recognized in my machine (Ubuntu 12.04). I tried the advices from USB drive not recognized after Erase Disk, without any success. When I tried Disk Utility, the stick is indicated as a generic device. See image, Formatting this device fails, saying, No medium found. Again see image, gparted does not even list this device. The same thing happens for fdisk. It is not listed there. Have I totally lost this stick? What should I do?

  • Hard drive is working fine then next boot up shows up as a unformatted.

    The drive is a Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB. There are no SMART errors and the drive sounds healthy. Restarted the computer from the drive working fine and then noticed that the drive had the same drive letter but has RAW as the file system. I have a few file/partition recovery software titles available but since doing any scans on this drive takes about 2.5 hours I wanted to know if any one had any advice.

  • What can i do if i made a bootable usb stick, but it doesn't work properly?

    Currently i have ubuntu 11.10 as an os and i want ubuntu 12.04 lts. I made a bootable usb stick with the program 'startup disk creator'. Everything went well (i choose the language, and then i choose ' install'), the purple screen with the title 'ubuntu' come up, it started loading too. After a time black screen come up with white letters last sentence was something like: panic occured, switching back to text. I tried it several times, the same thing happens. i tried to click on ' trying ubuntu from usb too, but it didn't work either . Please help me!

My question is: As a beginner, is it a good idea to start with a framework like Flixel, FlashPunk or PushButton or would it be better to write my first games from scratch?   • win 7 back up utility cant detect external drive on a netbook

    im trying to image a new HP netbook via the windows 7 BACK UP util. however, it doesnt detect the external drive, although it's seen in my computer and BIOS. i tried using HP recovery manager with recovery disc creation but it says, no burning device installed although there is one... anyone successful in using the win7 back up utility? ive been tinkering this for a while but i cant make it right using an external dvd drive. unless i'll plug in an external hdd/

  • Recommended Linux distro to boot into RAM (from USB flash drive)?

    I don't mind if I use USB flash drive or CD-ROM, but I would prefer USB flash drive. I had a squizz at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions_that_run_from_RAM On my own computer, I would be able to use any of the distros in the list. The largest "RAM required" in the list is 4GB. I would like to be able to use it on any computer, so I suppose 1GB or less would be better. I tried to follow the method described on Distro that I can load into RAM? but the distro listed there, from Israel Remix Team, doesn't seem to be available. Before I start trial-and-error on different distros, does anyone have any recommendations?

    Is there anyway to make a folder or a partition on a computer (Linux/windows) to act like a flash drive to other computers or devices when connected with a usb cable. For example, I have a windows 7 computer with 2 partitions c and d, then connect that computer to another computer or a smart TV using a USB cable (has to be male to male USB cable) then the other computer or TV recognizes the current computer as a usb device. Is that possible, if not is there any usb switch to connect an external hard drive or flash drive to both the computer and TV without the need to manually switch them (I know about some USB switches but they only support automatic switching with some certain types of printers, not with mass storage) Thanks in advanced!   • Hard drive restore on reboot on windows embedded

    My company has an old out of service device with windows embedded on it that we want to re purpose. Any changes to the drive (SD Card with 2 partitions), (ie: installed software, ip address, system settings, files) are reset/deleted when we reboot the device. We can successfully make changes to the drive by plugging it into a PC, but that has its limitations and we would like to be able to use our device. Can anyone tell us more about the technology used for doing this and how/if we can disable it?

    I have been reading a lot about how flash development/design had died, and as jQuery and in the near future html5 comes out, will this start to push Adobe/Coldfusion away from flash towards less product linking? I mean, I love coldfusion, and want that to continue to grow, however, if Adobe only bought Coldfusion from Macromedia, so they can bundle flash and coldfusion together, does the death of flash mean the death of coldfusion? http://topnews.us/content/221385-jobs-says-adobes-flash-waning-and-had-its-day http://aext.net/2010/03/javascript-jquery-killing-flash-tutorial-jquery-plugin/ I really don't mind if Flash dies, I do mind greatly if coldfusion does. I was only worried that Adobe would cause problems for Coldfusion, if flash had some market/financial problems. That was my main concern... And no I am not anti-flash... But my financial sanity depends on Coldfusion being a success, so that is why I stated my question. Because I WANT EVERYONE ELSE'S OPINION OF THIS SITUATION. Thank You.

    I've searched high and low, and can't figure this one out. I have a older Olympus Camera (2001 or so). When I plug in the USB connection, I get the following log output: $ dmesg | grep sd [20047.625076] sd 21:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg7 type 0 [20047.627922] sd 21:0:0:0: [sdg] Attached SCSI removable disk Secondly, the drive is not mounted in the FS, but when I run gphoto2 I get the following error: $ gphoto2 --list-config *** Error *** An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the device'): Camera is already in use. *** Error (-60: 'Could not lock the device') *** What command will unmount the drive. For example in Nautilus, I can right click and select "Safely Remove Device". After doing that, the /dev/sg7 and /dev/sdg devices are removed.   • Ubuntu won't boot from USB memory stick

    I used the instructions on this webpage to create a bootable USB drive for running Ubuntu 9.10. Unfortunately it doesn't work on my EeePC. Even with 'Removable Dev.' selected in the BIOS as the first boot device, the PC just boots into Windows 7. How do I troubleshoot this problem?     Under Windows, is there any easy way to change or forge the vendor and product id of a USB device? Say for example there's a useful program which expects a particular (but ubiquitous and generic) device but you think it will probably work with the device that you actually have. I've done lots of Googling and apparently you can do it under Linux so it occurs to me to run Windows in a VM under Linux, but that would be a bit inconvenient.

  • No audio from USB device on iMac

    My computer froze the other day and started a buzzing noise. After I restarted in the middle of it, the buzzing persisted. A few restarts later, the buzzing stopped, but I can't get audio to come from my audio interface setup anymore. I'm using an M-Audiophile USB to connect to studio monitors, and there's absolutely no audio. I've tried restarting many times and unplugging - still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
