• RPX API Call auth_info is returning "missing parameter" error

  I cannot get the RPX auth_info API call to work. It keeps returning the error: "Missing parameter: apiKey" I am using the C# RPX Helper Class provided on their Wiki:RPX Helper Class Below is my code in my Page_Load method. The RPX service works by sending a POST to a Url that I specify. My code gets the token from the post data shown below. Then I call the AuthInfo API method. string token = Request.Params["token"]; string apiKey = "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"; //my API key Rpx rpx = new Rpx(apiKey, "http://rpxnow.com"); XmlElement xmlElement = rpx.AuthInfo(token); Everything looks good. The token is populated. Within their code, the "apiKey" value pair is added to the post data written to the Request stream. Has anyone had luck with this? Any ideas why this is not working? Thanks.

• Is there any way to automatically break into debugger when my class library functions are getting ca

  I have a managed class library (say mylib.dll) and a 3rd party managed app (say app.exe) which is using mylib.dll. I have the code of mylib.dll but not of the app.exe. So currently what i do is i build mylib.dll, copy it to app.exe's directory, start app.exe and attach to the process. That way if i put breakpoints in code mylib.dll , i see them being hit. But is there anyway to automatically break in code of mylib.dll whenever any external application calls one of its exposed methods ? ie. Only for entrypoints of the dll. thanks, Mishal

• javascript date and loop check

  Hey all, this is the code i have to check for a day thats equal to the list of days in the comma seperated list: for(var i = 0; i < daysHidden.length; i++){ if (daysHidden[i] == d.getDate()); { alert(daysHidden[i] + '=' + d.getDate()); } } the daysHidden = 1 (its the only thing in the list April 1st is already gone and todays the 2nd so 1 is the only one in the list) and d.getDate() has 1-30 (for april) When i run the code, however, it keeps looping through the if code when it should only loop once (when it finds that 1=1 However, i keep getting the alert box that says: 1=1 1=2 1=3 etc.... 1=30 So i do not know what i am doing incorrect? I already tried putting them as strings: if (daysHidden[i].ToString == d.getDate().ToString); But that doesnt seem to work.... Any help would be great :) David

• Monodevelop: `Waiting for debugger to connect...`

  I am trying to debug this Mono desktop software in Monodevelop. I imported the SLN file, ran Build all with success, but when I press the Debug button I get this popup that stays waiting forever saying Waiting for debugger to connect...: The output says: User assembly '/home/nico/src/SparkleShare/SparkleShare/bin/SparkleShare.exe' is missing. Debugger will now debug all code, not just user code. Am I doing something wrong? Monodevelop 2.8.6.3 on Ubuntu 2012.04. Nothing special appears on the console with monodevelop -v -v -v. When I press Run instead of Debug, the app crashes immediately saying The application exited with code: 255, but I need Debug to find where the problem is. Note: It is not the same problem as this question, which is about MonoTouch waiting for a phone simulator... the suggestions over there are about the simulator or updating XCode... no simulator nor XCode here.

• Converting C# void* to byte[]

  In C#, I need to write T[] to a stream, ideally without any additional buffers. I have a dynamic code that converts T[] (where T is a no-objects struct) to a void* and fixes it in memory, and that works great. When the stream was a file, I could use native Windows API to pass the void * directly, but now I need to write to a generic Stream object that takes byte[]. Can anyone suggest a hack way to create a dummy array object which does not actually have any heap allocations, but rather points to an already existing (and fixed) heap location. • Can't get websrvmng to run in Plesk SSH terminal.

  I am following this MediaTemple KB article and stuck at the last step. When I try to run the websrvmng (using the ssh terminal in Plesk) using the code the KB references: /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -v -a I receive a 'File or Directory not found' error. I am a n00b when it comes to this stuff and would really appreciate any advice/suggestions for how to get websrvmng to run. I have searched through tons of articles on it but found nothing more illuminating than the above code. I am sure I'm overlooking something simple (login as root to run? something I need to replace in the code like usr?). It is a MediaTemple DV server running CentOS 5 and as I said using Plesk. I desperately need to get this to work and I am pulling my hair out, so as I said any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Custom UITableViewCell not properly hiding views

  I am using apple's custom table view cell code and modifying the drawRect code within the cell's view to look like I want it to. I've changed it to have some UILabels as well as a UIProgressView. If the data the cell is being built on doesn't have a certain field, I want the UIProgressView to be hidden. This works for a little while, but when a cell gets requeued, the progress view will start displaying again, even when I set it to hidden = YES. I've tried just not creating the ProgressView unless the data was there and that didn't work either. I thought the answer was in the [self setNeedsDisplay] but that doesn't seem to help.   I have two windows application, one is a windows service which create EventWaitHandle and wait for it. Second application is a windows gui which open it by calling EventWaitHandle.OpenExisting() and try to Set the event. But I am getting an exception in OpenExisting. I am using a simple for loop to determine the inheritance type - CreditCard or DebitCard and then calling entityManager.remove(entity). What am I doing wrong?   I have about 160 SSIS packages that I'm trying to upgrade from 2005 to 2008. When I run SSISUpgrade.exe on them, I get the following error messages on many of the packages: Error 0xc0209303: ...: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDB_NOPROVIDER_64BIT_ERROR. The requested OLE DB provider MICROSOFT.JET.OLEDB.4.0 is not registered -- perhaps no 64-bit provider is available. enter code here`Error code: 0x00000000. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Service Components" Hresult: 0x80040154 Description: "Class not registered". This fellow says that to fix this I need to set the run64bitruntime debugging property to False. However each of these packages exists outside of a project file. How can I set this property without having a project file?

• Python - do big doc strings waste memory?

  I understand that in Python a string is simply an expression and a string by itself would be garbage collected immediately upon return of control to a code's caller, but... Large class/method doc strings in your code: do they waste memory by building the string objects up? Module level doc strings: are they stored infinitely by the interpreter? Does this even matter? My only concern came from the idea that if I'm using a large framework like Django, or multiple large open source libraries, they tend to be very well documented with potentially multiple megabytes of text. In these cases are the doc strings loaded into memory for code that's used along the way, and then kept there, or is it collected immediately like normal strings?

  I've made some experimental code that I would like to save in the repository, but I don't want it on the main branch. How would you commit this to a branch? Maybe I got this wrong, but of what I've understood about branching, all you actually do is copying already checked in code to another directory in the repository. I suppose one could copy the main branch to another location, and then change the working copy repository location pointer to point at that location, and then commit the experimental code. But that seems a bit long-winded. Is this really how you do it?

  I've added WCF Service reference to my asp.net application and configured that reference to support asncronious calls. But from UI i'm not supposed to call the service methods directly. I need to call all service methods from a static class and from code behind file i need to invoke the static method. In this scenario what exactlly do i need to do?

• Problems with cos and sin in Android

  I have a problem with my code in Android. I am using this to moving a ball. If the degree is 90 it should move to the right, if the degree is 180 it should move down etc. This is the code I have done. int degrees=180; int bollspeed=4; bollX += bollspeed*Math.cos(Math.toRadians(degrees)); bollY += bollspeed*Math.sin(Math.toRadians(degrees)); The problem is that when the ball should move 90 degrees it moves 180, and when it should move 180 degrees it moves 270. I have tested all I could come to think... Can anyone see any error in my code or have a expanation I would be really glad. Thanks

  I admittedly don't know much about JQuery but I have an AJAX page where I need to trigger a click event when someone clicks a button, but because the button is not there on the initial page load, I'm having issues using the click event. • Spinlocks, How Much Useful Are They?

  How often do you find yourself actually using spinlocks in your code? How common is it to come across a situation where using a busy loop actually outperforms the usage of locks? Personally, when I write some sort of code that requires thread safety, I tend to benchmark it with different synchronization primitives, and as far as it goes, it seems like using locks gives better performance than using spinlocks. No matter for how little time I actually hold the lock, the amount of contention I receive when using spinlocks is far greater than the amount I get from using locks (of course, I run my tests on a multiprocessor machine). I realize that it's more likely to come across a spinlock in "low-level" code, but I'm interested to know whether you find it useful in even a more high-level kind of programming?

  Within a method, I am using i and j as temporary variables while calculating other variables. What is an idiomatic way of getting rid of i and j once they are no longer needed? Should I use blocks for this purpose? i = positions.first while nucleotide_at_position(i-1) == nucleotide_at_position(i) raise "Assumption violated" if i == 1 i -= 1 end first_nucleotide_position = i j = positions.last while nucleotide_at_position(j+1) == nucleotide_at_position(j) raise "Assumption violated" if j == sequence.length j += 1 end last_nucleotide_position = j Background: I'd like to get rid of i and j once they are no longer needed so that they aren't used by any other code in the method. Gives my code less opportunity to be wrong. I don't know the name of the concept - is it "encapsulation"? The closest concepts I can think of are (warning: links to TV Tropes - do not visit while working) Chekhov'sGun or YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness. Another alternative would be to put the code into their own methods, but that may detract from readability.

• What is technically more advanced: Python or Assembler? [closed]

  I wondered which of these languages is more powerful. With powerful I don't mean the readability, assembler would be naturally the winner here, but something resulting from, for example, the following factors: Which of them is more high-level? (Both aren't really but one has to be more) Who would be the possibly fastest in compiled state? (There is no Python compiler out there as far as I know but it wouldn't be hard writing one I suppose) Which of the both has the better code length/code action ratio? What I mean is If you get to distracted by the, compared to Python, improved readability of assembler, just think of writing plain binary/machine code as what assembler assembles to. Both languages are so basic that it should be possible to answer the question(s) in a rather objective view, I hope.
