  • Help: My SSL Certificate expired but I can't renew this weekend, is there a way I can disable SSL through IIS?

    Or perhaps force redirect to HTTP when they request HTTPS? I tried removing the SSL port settings under 'Advanced' but it broke the login page. I don't want to do a deploy/recompile right now but I am able to edit the VIEWS. However I am thinking there may be a way for IIS to do this, but then again I think the .NET code tries to force SSL. Crap. This is bull crap because I was bugging people about getting the new certificate since December and they were like oh we will take care of it... I think it may have even gotten to the point where they were getting annoyed with me hassling them about it! (rant over.) And yes, the key is that more support tickets will be caused by the browser giving a security error than if SSL was removed entirely for one day. Becaues they wouldn't very very likely not notice it being gone.

  • IE 8 and text fading

    I have a problem with fading text in IE 8, 7 and 6 (obviously). The text has a black outline during the animation that completely ruins the effect. Is there a workaround? I've read a bunch of answers about this problem and none made sense. Please take a look at this simple jsFiddle http://jsfiddle.net/LhSK7/ in IE 8, and show me how to fix it if possible. Edit: screenshot of the problem: http://i43.tinypic.com/1z6h1th.png I thought it might be because of the VirtualBox, but all other browsers display it correctly in VirtualBox. Edit #2: the problem can sort of be solved by setting the background color of the element being faded, which while still pretty ugly in IE 8 and below, at least gets rid of the black outline.

  • Ruby On Rails Routes

    I can't figure out how to get the following routes. Here's an extract from my routes.rb file: map.resources :treatments map.root :controller => "home" map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' map.connect ':action', :controller => 'home' # replaces the need to manually map pure actions to a default controller map.resources :bookings map.resource :dashboard map.resource :home Now I do realise that the ordering matters, but I can't seem to get them to work correctly. What I want is so http://localhost:3000/bookings/new actually takes you to an action http://localhost:3000/bookings/signmeup if you're either not signed in, or haven't got a login. The problem is that if I change my routes around, when I attempt to create a new booking after I have logged in, then it doesn't POST the form submission and just takes me back to the view page. This is definitely because of the routes as if I rearrange map.resources :bookings to be before all of them, then it works. Any ideas?

    Given a path to a REST style URL: http://site.com/rest/customer/foo/robot/bar/1 When you GET it, it returns a PDF to the foo-customer containing page 1 of the bar-URL. While foo is the name of the customer bar is an URL. The URL usually contains slashes and might look something like this: http://anothersite.com/interestingarticle.html As REST URL's separate arguments by slashes I can't just put it into the REST URL above. Which encoding should I use? I can't use Base 64 as it utilizes the slash as well. As a technical note I will encode the URL in a .NET-application and decode it in PHP.

Although it works, it's awfully messy. How can I prevent this?

  • Samsung TV Emulator font size

    Can someone please help me with this issue. I've been banging my head to find the solution but no help... The problem is that Samsung TV Emulator displays everything enlarged (line font-size 30ish pixels) and there does seem to have a way to override it. This only happens within Samsung UI components. To make sure it wasn't something with my project I've downloaded sample project from Brightcove: Sample project but noticed the same behavior with that as well. Here is the screenshot of my "project". It only one scene with two UI components: http://tinypic.com/r/124evqc/6 Opposed to that, here's what I see in my IDE view: http://tinypic.com/r/ezmn4l/6. As a side-note, I had to put height: 20px in both of my UI components' CSS in order for IDE to show them that way. Can anyone suggest what am I supposed to do?

    I am wondering if it is possible to redirect requests through Apache to eg. OpenVPN. As long as I need to bypass firewall, I need to use port 80/443 for openVPN, but there is Apache server which has both port for itself. Client ---> Firewall (allows 80/443 only) --->| ---> Apache (80/443) ---> OpenVPN (1194) | -------------------------------------------- My Server I was thinking about mod_proxy, but I am not sure if it is good idea, have you got any ideas? I hope possible solution will be applicable on virtual host as well.

  • Set up CakePHP in a subdirectory; Wordpress is installed in the root

    I have been searching for a solution for 2 hours but nothing seems to work... here is my problem: I have WordPress installed in the root (var/www). So by going to http://www.geekderek.com, I see my wordpress site. I put CakePHP in a subdirectory var/www/cakephp. I want to be able to see my CakePHP app by going to: www.geekderek.com/cakephp. However, currently this url just returns a Wordpress page saying "Content not found." I believe this problem can be solved by modifying .htaccess in my root directory. So here is my .htaccess: http://pastebin.com/sXJTRstB As you can see, I added this line to the default WP .htaccess file: RewriteRule ^cakephp(/(.*))?$ cakephp/app/webroot/$1 [QSA,L] However, for some reason this doesn't seem to work. I need it to have simple structure: it should listen to some url format like http://example.com/service/stream?write&id=ANY_STRING and if any data comes to such address format it'll start making it avaliable by something like this http://example.com/service/stream?read&id=ANY_STRING Main thing here to be able to stream live data thru WCF service not buffering it just sharing stream. So can please any one help me with such idea? I think not only I have seen such problem with WCF alot on different sites so answer will help the WCF comunyty alot. I hope. BTW: I know some people say WCF is not prepared for live streaming over bacikHTTPbinding but hey! We all need it to, and we ask MS alot so some day they'll make it beter and we all want to be prepared for it.

    First of all apologies for the below question. Am from a Testing background for the past 8 years and very novice to Jmeter. I went through the Jmeter site, and ran a sample recording using the jmeter.apache.org site and it went fine. I want to test my knowledge and understanding. So, I did the following way. Created a thread group. Added a config element HTTP Default Requests with server name as mail.google.com. Added a Sampler as HTTP request, set the METHOD to POST and gave the username and password, and i ran the test. When i see the Results Viewer, i could see the login page of gmail, I need to know how to pass my username and password and simulate the clicking of Submit button and getting the next page. Please help, am very new and will really appreciate if it's explained as simple as possible.

  • JQuery tools overlay opens at the top of page instead of overlaying in IE, works fine in FF/Chrome

    Here is the sandbox version of my site: http://3.latest.truxmapper.appspot.com/ To reproduce the error, hover over to the toolbar and go to Support -- FAQ. In Chrome/FF, this will work as expected. In IE, the background image will quickly move to the center of the page, but when its time to insert the div over the background image, its inserted on top of the page rather than the center of the page. The plugin example ( http://flowplayer.org/tools/overlay/apple.html ) works fine in IE, so i know it ought to be possible. I've tried messing around with the div placement on the html and with the css to no avail. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks!

Error using ==> urlread at 111 Error downloading URL. Your network connection may be down or your proxy settings improperly configured. If I substitute https to http, it works, but I get "301 Moved Permanently" page with the above https-link. The link in browser works properly in both cases (redirecting http request). The site does not require any authentication. May be there are other ways than urlread?

    I'm new to Haskell and I'm trying to use a pure SHA1 implementation in my app (Data.Digest.Pure.SHA) with a JSON library (AttoJSON). AttoJSON uses Data.ByteString.Char8 bytestrings, SHA uses Data.ByteString.Lazy bytestrings, and some of my string literals in my app are [Char]. This article seems to indicate this is something still being worked out in the Haskell language/Prelude: http // hackage.haskell.org/trac/haskell-prime/wiki/CharAsUnicode And this one lists a few libraries but its a couple years old: http //blog.kfish.org/2007/10/survey-haskell-unicode-support.html [Links broken because SO doesn't trust me -- whatever...] What is the current best way to convert between these types, and what are some of the tradeoffs? From the spec: If there is a network error Apply the network error steps. Perform a resource sharing check. If it returns fail, apply the network error steps. http://www.w3.org/TR/access-control/#simple-cross-origin-request0 In my testing, I couldn't locate any features of Firefox's implementation that seem to indicate that the resource sharing check definitely failed. It just switches readyState to 4 and sets status to 0. Ultimately I'd like the ability to pass a success callback, a general fail callback, and an optional cross-origin fail callback, to my function. Thanks for any help or insight.

  • Should I still use querystrings for page number, etc, when using ASP.NET 4 URL Routing?

    I am switching from Intelligencia's UrlRewriter to the new web forms routing in ASP.NET 4.0. I have it working great for basic pages, however, in my e-commerce site, when browsing category pages, I previously used querystrings that were built into my pager control to control paging. An old url (with UrlRewriting) would be: http://www.mysite.com/Category/Arts-and-Crafts_17 I now have a MapPageRoute defined in global.asax as: routes.MapPageRoute("category-browse", "Category/{name}_{id}", ~/CategoryPage.aspx"); This works great. Now, somebody clicks to go to page 2. Previously I would have just tacked on ?page=2 as the querystring. Now, How do I handle this using web forms routing? I know I can do something like: http://www.mysite.com/Category/Arts-and-Crafts_17/page/2 But in addition to page, I can have filters, age ranges, gender, etc. Should I just keep defining routes that handle these variables, or should I continue using querystrings and can I define a route that allows me to use my querstrings like before?

  • Can you use POST to run a query in Solr (/select)

    I have queries that I am running against out solr index that sometimes have very long query parameters, I get errors when i run these queries, which i assume are do to the limit of a GET query parameters. Here is the method I use to query (JSON), this is to show I am using the Http Extensions (the client i use is a thin wrapper for HttpClient) not an end to end solution. 90% of the queries run fine, it is just when the params are large i get the 500 error from solr. I have read somewhere you can use POSt's when doing the select command but have not found examples of how to do it.
