• strange SQL Server attach database error

  Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise with VSTS 2008, and I am developing a simple web application using ASP.Net and Forms Authentication. When I am using the configuration tool/menu of VSTS of my ASP.Net project (I want to use this tool to manually add some Forms authentication users), I met with the following error (SqlException), Trying to attach file D:\Projects\MyTest\App_Data\aspnetdb.mdf to automatically named database failed. It may be caused by existing the same name database, or may be caused by specified file can not be opened or caused by the specified file exists in UNC share. In my computer, there is no aspnetdb.mdf under dir D:\Projects\MyTest\App_Data, and I have used aspnet_regsql to generate database successfully before I run the configuration tool. Why there is such error? How to fix it? thanks in advance, George

  Currently I use an IDE for all my builds and unit tests. Now I have a need to use ant. I found a few simple ant build.xml scripts but they didn't support a separate Junit test/ dir. My projects are structured as follows: src/ com/foo/ com/bar/ test/ -- Mirror of src/, with all *Test.java files. com/foo/ com/bar/ lib/ -- All Java libs, including junit 4. How can a construct a small ant script that builds my src/ and test/ Java classes then runs all my JUnit tests?

• How can I change ruby log level in unit tests based on context

  I'm new to ruby so forgive me if this is simple or I get some terminology wrong. I've got a bunch of unit tests (actually they're integration tests for another project, but they use ruby test/unit) and they all include from a module that sets up an instance variable for the log object. When I run the individual tests I'd like log.level to be debug, but when I run a suite I'd like log.level to be error. Is it possible to do this with the approach I'm taking, or does the code need to be restructured? Here's a small example of what I have so far. • Rails: Creating subfolders in model?

  I'm going to have a ton of subclasses, so want to organize them under a subfolder called stream. I added the following line to the environment.rb so that all classes in the subfolder would be loaded: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| ... config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/*"].find_all { |f| File.stat(f).directory? } ... end I thought this would solve the issue in which by convention the model class is namespaced into an according module. However, when I try to call one of the classes called stream in the stream folder, I get the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `new' for Stream:Module from (irb):28 from /usr/local/bin/irb:12:in `<main>' Here's the model for the parent and one child: class Stream end class EventStream < Stream end Any idea what the issue is?

• Maven + Tomcat acceleration

  I am writing a web application with Maven in the Eclipse IDE, and use Tomcat servlet container. So, I run Maven like this: mvn clean compile. It is reasonable that after this oepration I must re-run Tomcat so it can reinitialize the context (Sysdeo Tomcat launcher helps a lot). The problem is Maven execution and subsequebt Tomcat re-running takes noticable amount of time (like 10+ seconds for Maven and 20+ sec. for Tomcat, because of logging, Hibernate mappings, etc.) every time I do it. Is there any automated and more faster solution for these two operatioins? As I see it, a way better solution can be moving re-compiled classes only to the target dir.

  I have read all the questions I could find on it on SO, but none answers my question. I have a module foo, containing util.py and bar.py. I want to import it in IDLE or python session. How do I go about this? I could find no documentation on how to import modules not in the current directory or the default python PATH. After trying import "<full path>/foo/util.py", and from "<full path>" import util The closest I could get was import imp imp.load_source('foo.util','C:/.../dir/dir2/foo') Which gave me Permission denied on windows 7.

• swf doesn't respond on tomcat

  Hi, I made a war file out of my flex program (includes swf html etc.). I put the war in the tomcat root library (tomcat 6.0.26) I can see that the war was deployed, and i can get to it using http://localhost:8080/dir/myApp.html and see my swf. When i click directly on myApp.html i can see my swf main picture and its buttons in it. But, when i click a button which just popup a message, it doesn't work! On the other hand, When running the mainApp.html from my local drive it works fine. any help?

• Is this a good approach to execute a list of operations on a data structure in Python?

  I have a dictionary of data, the key is the file name and the value is another dictionary of its attribute values. Now I'd like to pass this data structure to various functions, each of which runs some test on the attribute and returns True/False. One approach would be to call each function one by one explicitly from the main code. However I can do something like this: #MYmodule.py class Mymodule: def MYfunc1(self): ... def MYfunc2(self): ... #main.py import Mymodule ... #fill the data structure ... #Now call all the functions in Mymodule one by one for funcs in dir(Mymodule): if funcs[:2]=='MY': result=Mymodule.__dict__.get(funcs)(dataStructure) The advantage of this approach is that implementation of main class needn't change when I add more logic/tests to MYmodule. Is this a good way to solve the problem at hand? Are there better alternatives to this solution?

  Hi all, I keep all modules of our system in one dir (e.g. All\ModuleA; All\ModuleB). I want to see what types of files are most numerous and take up the most space, by module. So, I'd like output along the lines of: ModName,java-count,java-size,xml-count,xml-size,png-count,png-size... ModuleA,30,0.2,100,2.3,0,0,... ModuleB,21,0.1,20,0.7,1,1.2 Not all modules have files of all types, so this will only work if I list all types for all module (with lots of zeros). I have something that almost works, but it's hideous, verbose and inefficient. I'm sure someone can help me see the light :-) (which, by the way, can be a piece of freeware software that does this out of the box; I only chose to do this in powershell out of interest). thanks

• Rails 3 namespacing requires model to be defined twice?

  I'm pulling my hair out trying to understand namespacing in Rails 3. I've tried following a few different tutorials, and the only way I can get my models to work is if I define my model in both the base directory and my namespace directory. If I only define the model in the namespace directory it expects it to define both Model and Namespace::Model, as below: LoadError (Expected .../app/models/plugins/chat.rb to define Chat): or LoadError (Expected .../app/models/plugins/chat.rb to define Plugins::Chat): I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I could really use a pointer in the right direction. • Should Perl's opendir always return . and .. first?

  opendir MYDIR, "$dir"; my @FILES = readdir MYDIR; closedir MYDIR; It appears that 99.9 % of the time the first two entries in the array are always “.” and “..”. Later logic in the script has issues if it is not true. I ran into a case where the directory entries appeared later. Is this indicative of the file system being corrupt or something else? Is there a known order to what opendir returns?

• URL Routing to Default Page

  Hi everyone, I have an asp.net 4.0 web forms app setup with url rereouting. In development, my app's URL looks perfect. I have a page called enrollnow.aspx that responds to the routing, so if I type in localhost/enrollnow/abc, my app responds as expected. Once promoted into my staging environment however, the URL is off. I have a domain, and a virtual dir created off of my domain called "enrollnow". So basically, my URL outside of development is: mydomain.com/enrollnow/enrollnow/abc - where the first enrollnow is the directory, the second enrollnow is the page name, and the abc is my route value. Is there any way I can have the "default page" respond, so the second enrollnow (which is enrollnow.asp) isnt required? Perhaps I can rename my enrollnow.aspx page to default.aspx, or I can change the mapping in my routetable? Heres my routetable, incase that helps. thanks! • Objects in Java ArrayList don't get updated.

  This is going to be a very long post, hopefully you can understand what I'm talking about and I appreciate any help. Thanks Basically, I've created a personal, non-commercial project (which I don't plan to release) that can read ZIP and RAR files. It can only read the contents in the archive, the folders inside, the files inside the folders and its properties (such as last modified date, last modified time, CRC checksum, uncompressed size, compressed size and file name). It can't extract files either, so it's really a ZIP/RAR viewer if you may. Anyway that's slightly irrelevant to my problem but I thought I'd give you some background info. Now for my problem: I can successfully list all the folders and files inside a ZIP archive, so now I want to take that raw input and link it together in some useful way. I made 2 classes: ArchiveFile (represents a file inside a ZIP) and ArchiveFolder (represents a folder inside a ZIP). They both have some useful methods such as getLastModifiedDate, getName, getPath and so on. But the difference is that ArchiveFolder can hold an ArrayList of ArchiveFile's and additional ArchiveFolder's (think of this as files and folders inside a folder). Now I want to populate my raw input into one root ArchiveFolder, which will have all the files in the root dir of the ZIP in the ArchiveFile's ArrayList and any additional folders in the root dir of the ZIP in the ArchiveFolder's ArrayList (and this process can continue on like this like a chain reaction (more files/folders in that ArchiveFolder etc etc). And that archive.getName() returns the name of the current file OR folder in the following fashion: file.txt or folder1/file2.txt or folder4/folder2/ (this is a empty folder) etc. So basically the relative path from the root of the ZIP archive. Please read through the comments in the above code to familiarize yourself with it. Also assume that the addFolder method in an ArchiveFile, only adds the folder if it doesn't exist already (so there are no multiple folders) and it also updates the time and date of an existing folder if it is blank (ie it was a intermediate folder we only knew the name of, but now we know its details). The code for addFolder is (pretty self-explanitory): public void addFolder(ArchiveFolder folder) { int loc = folders.indexOf(folder); // folders is the ArrayList containing ArchiveFolder's if (loc == -1) { folders.add(folder); } else { ArchiveFolder real = folders.get(loc); if (real.time == null) { real.setTime(folder.getTime()); real.setDate(folder.getDate()); } } } So I can't see anything wrong with the code, it works and after finishing, the root ArchiveFolder contains all the files in the root of the ZIP as I want it to, and it contains all the direcories in the root folder as I want it to. So you'd think it works as expected, but no the ArchiveFolder's in the root folder don't contain the data inside those 'child' folders, it's just a blank folder with no additional files and folders (while it does really contain some more files/folders when viewed in WinZip). After debugging using Eclipse, the for loop does iterate through all the files (even those not included above), so this led me to believe that there is a problem with this line of the code: current = folder; What it does is, it updates the current folder (used as an intermediate by the loop) to the newly added folder. I thought Java passed by reference and thus all new operations and new additions in future ArchiveFile's and ArchiveFolder's are automatically updated, and parent ArchiveFolder's will be updated accordingly. But that does not appear to be the case? I know this is a long ass post and I really hope anyone can help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

I would like to exclude this directory from the build process in visual studio 2010. With vs 2008 it was not possible. Has anything changed? Besides the general wait for VS to iterate through this directory with each build, it also strains my system resources, so I would like to exclude it from the project, but the dir and files need to physically exist on disk, because they are part of the application. Any OOB VS 2010 solutions, or any good workarounds? Thanks

Relevant part of my delegate looks like: sub f { my $file = $File::Find::name; return unless -f $file; return unless $file =~ /$file_pattern/; etc... but the problem is that, that this code returns every time where $file not exist in current directory. For example for file ./test it fine, but for file ./dir/test this return... Is there some better way to know if $file is file?

• PHP $_REQUEST doesn't contain all $_GET varaibles

  Until today I thought that $_REQUEST always contains all variables form $_POST and $_GET. But today I had the strange experience that one variable is part of $_GET but not part of $_REQUEST. I played a little bit around with the URL which hands over the parameters and it seems like always the fist parameter is missing in the $_REQUEST array. Do you have any idea why this could happen? • SSIS - Access Denied with UNC paths - The file name is a device or contains invalid characters

  I spent another day tearing my hair out yesterday trying to resolve an issue with SSIS packages runnning in SQLAgent (not got much left at the moment, maybe I should contact the SSIS team for a wig). My situation was that I am deploying packages to a development server, and to provide isolation I was running jobs with a proxy account that only had access to the development servers. Proxies are an awesome feature and mean that you should never have to "just run the job as sysadmin". The issue I was facing was that the job step was failing. The job step was a simple execution of the package.The following errors appeared in my log file. I always check the "Log step output in history" for a job step, this ensures you get all the output from the command that you run. I'll blog about this later. If looking at the output in sysdtslog90 then you will have an entry with datacode -1073573533 and error message File or directory "<filename>" represented by connection "<connection>" does not exist.  Not exactly helpful. If you get the output from the console then you will also get these errors. 0xC0202070 "The file name property is not valid. The file name is a device or contains invalid characters." 0xC001401E "specified in the connection was not valid." It appears this error is due to the use of a UNC path and the account runnnig the package not having access to all the folders in the path. Solution To solve this you need to ensure that the proxy account has access to ALL folders in the path you are accessing. To check this works, logon as the relevant proxy user, or run a command window as the specified user. Then try and do net use \\server\share and then do a dir for each folder in the path and check you have access. If these work and you still have the problem then you have some other problem, sorry.
