• sfJQueryUIPlugin: No Picker for new records

  Everyday is a new day with Symfony, but I'm loving it! This morning I installed the sfJQueryUIPlugin. It has very little dependencies & accepts themeRoller styles. However, it has 2 issues: [Feature_Request] There is no way to specify the year range. By default, it shows a 20 year range around the year in the field value. eg. if field value is 1993-01-20, the range will be 1983 to 2003. ??? Has anyone found a way out??? The DatePicker does not appear when the field is empty, Thus it does not show up during new record creation. To solve this, I tried setting up the default value in the date input field (which now appears as a text input) using $this->setDefault('date_of_birth',date('Y-m-d')); ??? Is anybody facing this problem of picker now available during new record creation ??? ??? Also is it the right way to set default value ??? Thanks in advance.

• Autorotation and multiple view controllers

  I'm creating an iPad application which should only work in portrait and portait upsidedown modes. For performance reasons in my applicationDidFinishLaunching method I'm creating several viewControllers, and adding them to my main window as subviews. I then hide the ones I don't want to see straight away. There is no tab bar or navigation controller. My problem is that only the first viewController seems to be receiving the rotate calls. I have verified this by swapping around the order in which I add the subviews to the main window and NSLog's. Is there some way I can force all the controllers to receive the calls? Some of my views are designed to lay over the top of another view, but this behind view will not always be the same one - so it seems to make sense to have the overlay view in a separate view controller. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong, and that's why it's not behaving as I would expect? • Rotating an object in OpenGL ES for iPhone [translate to origin --> rotate --> translate back is not

  I recently started working with OpenGL ES for the iPhone, and I am having a bit of trouble with it. I want to be able to rotate an object with your fingers. My problem is that I have my object placed at (0, 0, -3), and I would like to rotate it about its center. I know that I need to translate back to the origin, rotate, and then bring it back to the original place. I think I am facing a problem because I am using a matrix to keep track (?) of all of my rotations/translation/scaling etc, and I think it may be combining the operations in a way that order is not even considered (so the two translations would cancel each other). I just started learning OpenGL a day ago and am a complete newbie, so my assumption may be wrong. • Google Maps: openInfoWindowTabsHtml + GDownloadUrl (Ajax call) question

  I am facing the following problem. On an Google Map I want to add info windows with tabs, where content is loaded from an external file using the GDownloadUrl method. The code works about fine, but with two problems. a) The first time I click on a marker, nothing hapens. I need to click twice to get an info box. After that it works ok. b) When I close an info box and open it again, the tabs repeat themselves. Every time I reopen the info box, those tabs get repeated. So, if using the code below and open the info box 3 times, I get 6 tabs (Info, Photos, Info, Photos, Info, Photos). Any idea of what I am doing wrong here? • Testing a wide variety of computers with a small company

  Hello everyone, I work for a small dotcom which will soon be launching a reasonably-complicated Windows program. We have uncovered a number of "WTF?" type scenarios that have turned up as the program has been passed around to the various not-technical-types that we've been unable to replicate. One of the biggest problems we're facing is that of testing: there are a total of three programmers -- only one working on this particular project, me -- no testers, and a handful of assorted other staff (sales, etc). We are also geographically isolated. The "testing lab" consists of a handful of VMWare and VPC images running sort-of fresh installs of Windows XP and Vista, which runs on my personal computer. The non-technical types try to be helpful when problems arise, we have trained them on how to most effectively report problems, and the software itself sports a wide array of diagnostic features, but since they aren't computer nerds like us their reporting is only so useful, and arranging remote control sessions to dig into the guts of their computers is time-consuming. I am looking for resources that allow us to amplify our testing abilities without having to put together an actual lab and hire beta testers. My boss mentioned rental VPS services and asked me to look in to them, however they are still largely very much self-service and I was wondering if there were any better ways. How have you, or any other companies in a similar situation handled this sort of thing? EDIT: According to the lingo, our goal here is to expand our systems testing capacity via an elastic computing platform such as Amazon EC2. At this point I am not sure suggestions of beefing up our unit/integration testing are going to help very much as we are consistently hitting walls at the systems testing phase. • Are we DELPHI, VCL or Pascal programmers?

  i´ve been a delphi database programmer since D2. Now i´m facing some digital imaging and 3D challenges that make me to start study OpenGL, DirectX, Color Spaces and so on. I´m really trying but nobody seems to use Delphi for this kind of stuff, just the good-old-paycheck Database programming. ok, i know that we have some very smart guys behind some clever components, some of this open-source. Is there any PhotoShop, Blender, Maya, Office, Sonar, StarCraft, Call of Dutty written in Delphi? Do i have to learn C++ to have access to zillions of books about that kind of stuff? What is the fuzz/hype behind this: int *varName = &anhoterThing? Why pointers seems to be the holy graal to this apps? I´ve downloaded MSVC++ Express and start to learn some WPF and QT integration, and i think: "Man, Delphi does this kind of stuff, with less code, less headaches, since the wheels were invented" This lead my mind to the following... Do you ever tried to write a simple notepad program using just notepad and dcc32 in Pascal/Delphi? if so embarcadero could make our beloved pascal compiler free, and sell just the ide, the vcl, the customer support ... and back to the question: Are we DELPHI, VCL or Pascal programmers?

• how to access a type defined in one .ml file in another .ml file

  Hi, I m very new to ocaml and i m facing the problem below, In a.ml a record type t is defined and is also defined transparently in a.mli, i.e. in d interface so that the type definition is available to all other files. a.ml also has a function, func, which returns a list of t. Now in another file, b.ml i m calling func, now obviously ocaml compiler wud nt be able to infer d type of objects stored in d list, for compiler its just a list. so in b.ml, i hav something like dis, let tlist = A.func in let vart = List.hd tlist in printf "%s\n" vart.name (name is a field in record t) Now here i get a compiler error sayin "Unbound record field label name" which makes sense as compiler can't infer d type of vart. my first question: how do I explicitly provide d type of vart as t here? i tried doing "let vart:A.t = " but got the same error. I also tried creating another function to fetch the first element of d list and mentioning return type as A.t, but then i got the "Unbound value A.t". I did this: let firstt = function [] - 0 | x :: _ - A.t x ;; The problem is compiler is unable to recognize A.t (a type) in b.ml but is able to recognize function A.func. If I remove A.t from the b.ml, i don'get any compiler errors. Please help, its urgent work. Thanks in advance! ~Tarun

But i am facing with the problem that whenever i try to play the music in a call it is not that much loud as it is when there is no call. Is there any way to control the background music when in a call. • Office Automation: What does destroy my encoding?

  I'm facing a problem with a Word Mail Merge Automation controlled by our CRM system. The setup Base for the Mail Merge is a Word .dot template which fires a macro on Document.New. Inside this macro I create a .Net component registered for COM. Set myCOMObject = CreateObject("MyCOMObject") The component pulls some data from a database and hands string values which are assigned to Word DocumentVariables. Set someClass = myCOMObject.GetSomeClass(123) ActiveDocument.Variables("docaddress") = someClass.GetSenderAddress(456) All string values returned from the component are encoded in UTF-8 (codepage 1200). What happens The problem arises when the CRM system calls Word to perform the Mail Merge: The string values from the component are turned into UTF-8 encoded strings. All the static text inside the template and the data pulled for the Mail Merge stay nicely encoded in UTF-16 - example the umlaut ü inside my DocumentVariables is turned into c3 b0 while it stays fc for the rest of the document (checked file in hex editor). If I'm creating a document from a template with the same macro functionallity but without performing a Mail Merge all strings are fine; i.e. are encoded in UTF-16. What changed According to the CRM software vendor the encoding of the Mail Merge data export was changed to UTF-16 with the new version we're currently testing. I found out that MS states that you'll expirience issues when the document and the Mail Merge data file encoding don't match. What I tried Since I'm assuming to merge with UTF-16 encoded data I added the following lines to my macro: ActiveDocument.TextEncoding = msoEncodingWestern ActiveDocument.SaveEncoding = msoEncodingUnicodeLittleEndian This is what the Mail Merge data document specifies in its document properties.

• Building an extension framework for a Rails app

  I'm starting research on what I'd need in order to build a user-level plugin system (like Wordpress plugins) for a Rails app, so I'd appreciate some general pointers/advice. By user-level plugin I mean a package a user can extract into a folder and have it show up on an admin interface, allowing them to add some extra configuration and then activate it. What is the best way to go about doing this? Is there any other opensource project that does this already? What does Rails itself already offer for programmer-level plugins that could be leveraged? Any Rails plugins that could help me with this? A plugin would have to be able to: run its own migrations (with this? it's undocumented) have access to my models (plugins already do) have entry points for adding content to views (can be done with content_for and yield) replace entire views or partials (how?) provide its own admin and user-facing views (how?) create its own routes (or maybe just announce its presence and let me create the routes for it, to avoid plugins stepping on each other's toes) Anything else I'm missing? Also, is there a way to limit which tables/actions the plugin has access to concerning migrations and models, and also limit their access to routes (maybe letting them include, but not remove routes)? P.S.: I'll try to keep this updated, compiling stuff I figure out and relevant answers so as to have a sort of guide for others.

I have to Search for the files with only .txt format in the current directory, count the number of cases of each different "Interface # nnnn" string in .txt file, where nnnn is a four or 32 digits max hexadecimal no and o/p of a table of Interface number against occurrence. I am facing implementation issues while writing a script i.e, Unable to implement the data structure like Linked List, Two Dimensional array. I am rewriting a script using multi dimension array (Pass values into the arrays in and out of procedure) in TCL to scan through the every .txt file and search for the the string/regular expression ‘Interface # ’ to count and display the number of occurrences. If someone could help me to complete this part will be much appreciated. Search for only .txt extension files and obtain the size of the file Here is my piece of code for searching a .txt file in present directory set files [glob *.txt] if { [llength $files] > 0 } { puts "Files:" foreach f [lsort $files] { puts " [file size $f] - $f" } } else { puts "(no files)" } I reckon these are all the possible logical steps behind to complete it i) Once searched and find the .txt file then open all .txt files in read only mode ii) Create a array or list using the procedure (proc) Interface number to NULL and Interface count to zero 0 iii) Scan thro the .txt file and search for the string or regular expression "interface # iv) When a match found in .txt file, check the Interface Number and increment the count for the corresponding entry. • Copy whole SQL Server database into JSON from Python

  I facing an atypical conversion problem. About a decade ago I coded up a large site in ASP. Over the years this turned into ASP.NET but kept the same database. I've just re-done the site in Django and I've copied all the core data but before I cancel my account with the host, I need to make sure I've got a long-term backup of the data so if it turns out I'm missing something, I can copy it from a local copy. To complicate matters, I no longer have Windows. I moved to Ubuntu on all my machines some time back. I could ask the host to send me a backup but having no access to a machine with MSSQL, I wouldn't be able to use that if I needed to. So I'm looking for something that does: db = {} for table in database: db[table.name] = [row for row in table] And then I could serialize db off somewhere for later consumption... But how do I do the table iteration? Is there an easier way to do all of this? Can MSSQL do a cross-platform SQLDump (inc data)? For previous MSSQL I've used pymssql but I don't know how to iterate the tables and copy rows (ideally with column headers so I can tell what the data is). I'm not looking for much code but I need a poke in the right direction.

  Say I have three tables: Fruit (Table 1) ------ Apple Orange Pear Banana Produce Store A (Table 2 - 2 columns: Fruit for sale => Price) ------------------------- Apple => 1.00 Orange => 1.50 Pear => 2.00 Produce Store B (Table 3 - 2 columns: Fruit for sale => Price) ------------------------ Apple => 1.10 Pear => 2.50 Banana => 1.00 If I would like to write a query with Column 1: the set of fruit offered at Produce Store A UNION Produce Store B, Column 2: Price of the fruit at Produce Store A (or null if that fruit is not offered), Column 3: Price of the fruit at Produce Store B (or null if that fruit is not offered), how would I go about joining the tables? I am facing a similar problem (with more complex tables), and no matter what I try, if the "fruit" is not at "produce store a" but is at "produce store b", it is excluded (since I am joining produce store a first). I have even written a subquery to generate a full list of fruits, then left join Produce Store A, but it is still eliminating the fruits not offered at A. Any Ideas?

  I am getting leak and I cannot detect from where this is happening. The stack trace does not give full info after dyld open. For few leaks I am not getting any stack trace info. • GoDaddy Subdomain Hosting Issue/Question with Disk Access (C#/ASP.NET 3.5)

  This isn't a very complicated scenario really, but as I start to type out the problem I'm realizing how convoluted it can become textually. Let me try and be very clear: First, the set up... I have a C#/ASP.NET web application that is publicly facing on my main domain (www), let's call it www.mysite.com. Nothing fancy, just a front-end that connects to SQL to display records. Then, I have a second C#/ASP.NET web application that is secured using forms authentication running on a subdomain, let's call it admin.mysite.com. This is a very light-weight CMS system to administer the public site. Now, the problem... Both of these sites run fine for basic tasks, however, my problem arises when I try to gain access to the file system for uploading. GoDaddy requires subdomains to run as a virtual directories under the main application in IIS (so the subdomains actually resolve/re-direct to www.mysite.com/admin when you type in admin.mysite.com), but because of this I am unable to write to my website root from the subfolder. Let me explain a little more... The CMS system (running as a virtual directory) gives the admin the ability to upload photos for display on the main site, the target folder of which is www.mysite.com/images - when attempting disk access from the root app, I am able to write to the virtual directory, but cannot do the opposite -- that is, write to the root from the virtual directory, getting security violations. If I can only upload to the /admin/ virtual directory, the entire point is moot because it's a secured folder that the public can't see! The only solution I can think of is to upload the files to the /admin/ virtual directory, then call a URL in the root that moves files from /admin/ back to the root, but that is entirely ghetto. I hope this post makes sense. Anyone else experience anything like this? The bottom line is that it seems virtual directories ONLY have access to themselves, and not their parent directories, no matter what credentials are used. Thanks!

  Hi, i am using Spring.net 1.2 with NHibernate 2.0.1. Within my project i'am facing some Deadlock issues and besides the database tweaks to minimize the occurence i would like to implement Springs RetryAdvice to handle this. I can't find any working example how to configure a this. • C# HTML tags inside GridView

  I have a SharePoint web part that I wrote in C# which is used to display SQL Server data based on user selections. I pull the data with a DataReader, fill a DataSet with it, and set that DataSet as the DataSource in a GridView and add that control to my page. The only problem I'm facing is that line breaks in the data fields are not being rendered at all. I'm simply getting a block of text that ignores the breaks that are present in the database when it's rendered to HTML. I tried a regex: Regex rgx = new Regex("\n"); string inputStr = Convert.ToString(dr[x]); string outputStr = rgx.Replace(inputStr, "<br />"); newRow[ds3.Tables["Bobst Specs 3"].Columns[x]] = outputStr; While that does detect and replace the newlines, I merely get the text "" with no line breaks. I also tried changing my SQL query to something along the lines of: SELECT REPLACE (fldCustomerName, '. ', '.' + @NewLineChar) This apparently renders more newlines. I can see that they are present, because if I also insert the regex they are affected, but do not create line breaks. I'm not sure how to replace these, and what with, to get the lines to actually break.

  The directory structure: C:/wamp/www/application/model/data_access/data_object.php C:/wamp/www/application/model/users/user.class.php C:/wamp/www/application/controller/projects.php C:/wamp/www/application/controller/links/links.php I have 2 php files data_object.php and user.class.php Now user.class.php has an include statement for data_object.php wchih is relative to user.class.php.These two files are under different directory hierarchy. Now I have to include this user.class.php in various files (like projects.php, links.php-which themselves are under different hierarchy) whenever i want to create a User() object. The problem is the relative path for file inclusion of data_object.php does work for say projects.php but if i open links.php the error message says it could not open file data_object.php in user.class.php. What i think is for relative inclusion of data_object.php it is considering the path of the file in which user.class.php is included. I am facing such problems in more than one scenarios I have to keep my directory structure the way it is but have to find a way to work with nested includes. I used Document root of session it give root path as C:/wamp/www/ i appended the path for data_object.php include but this is not working. (note: the forward slash is present after www) I am currently running on wamp server's localhost but after completion i have to host the solution on a domain. Pls help

  We are facing this error intermittently. If we restart the server it works for some time and again the problem start. We also have another load balanced server with similar configuration and that is working fine. The server is running on Linux box. If we do the "ps -ef" its listing the TOMCAT process. Is it any way related to the "maxProcessors" or "acceptCount" attributes defined in the above configuration? Is it the problem with the port number?? Does it have to do any thing with the certificate. The certificate is generated using Java Keytool. ( However, the other load balanced server is also using the same certificate and working fine) Please suggest in resolving this issue. thanks

• mySQL Efficiency Issue - How to find the right balance of normalization...?

  I'm fairly new to working with relational databases, but have read a few books and know the basics of good design. I'm facing a design decision, and I'm not sure how to continue. Here's a very over simplified version of what I'm building: People can rate photos 1-5, and I need to display the average votes on the picture while keeping track of the individual votes. For example, 12 people voted 1, 7 people voted 2, etc. etc. The normalization freak of me initially designed the table structure like this: Table pictures id* | picture | userID | Table ratings id* | pictureID | userID | rating With all the foreign key constraints and everything set as they shoudl be. Every time someone rates a picture, I just insert a new record into ratings and be done with it. To find the average rating of a picture, I'd just run something like this: SELECT AVG(rating) FROM ratings WHERE pictureID = '5' GROUP by pictureID Having it setup this way lets me run my fancy statistics to. I can easily find who rated a certain picture a 3, and what not. Now I'm thinking if there's a crapload of ratings (which is very possible in what I'm really designing), finding the average will became very expensive and painful. Using a non-normalized version would seem to be more efficient. e.g.: Table picture id | picture | userID | ratingOne | ratingTwo | ratingThree | ratingFour | ratingFive To calculate the average, I'd just have to select a single row. It seems so much more efficient, but so much more uglier. Can someone point me in the right direction of what to do? • Movies recommendation engine conceptual database design

  I am working at an movie recommendations engine and i'm facing a DB design issue. My actual database looks like this: MOVIES [ID,TITLE] KEYWORDS_TABLE [ID,KEY_ID] - where ID is Foreign Key for MOVIES.id and KEY_ID is a key for a text keywords table This is not the entire DB, but i showed here what's important for my problem. I have about 50,000 movies and about 1,3 milion keywords correlations, and basically my algorithm consists in extracting all the who have the same keywords with a given movie, then ordering them by the number of keywords correlations. For example i looked for a movie similar to 'Cast away' and it returned 'Six days and six nights' because it had the most keywords correlations (4 keywords): Island Airplane crash Stranded Pilot The algorithm is based on more factors, but this one is the most important and the most difficult for the approach. Basically what i do now is getting all the movies that have at least one keyword similar to the given movie and then ordering them by other factors which are not important for a moment. There wouldn't be any problem if there weren't so many records, a query lasts in many cases up to 10-20 seconds and some of them return even over 5000 movies. Someone already helped me on here (thanks Mark Byers) with optimizing the query but that's not enough because it takes too longer SELECT DISTINCT M.title FROM keywords_table K1 JOIN keywords_table K2 ON K2.key_id = K1.key_id JOIN movies M ON K2.id = M.id WHERE K1.id = 4 So i thought it would be better if i pre-made those lists with movies recommendations for each movie, but i'm not sure how to design the tables.. whatever is it a good idea or how would you take this approach?

• Why does my IMultiBindingConverter get an array of strings when used to set TextBox.Text?

  Hi- I'm trying to use a MultiBinding with a converter where the child elements also have a converter. The XAML looks like so: <TextBlock> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource localizedMessageConverter}" ConverterParameter="{x:Static res:Resources.RecordsFound}" > <Binding Converter="{StaticResource localizedMessageParameterConverter}" ConverterParameter="ALIAS" Path="Alias" Mode="OneWay" /> <Binding Converter="{StaticResource localizedMessageParameterConverter}" ConverterParameter="COUNT" Path="Count" Mode="OneWay" /> </MultiBinding> </TextBlock.Text> The problem I'm facing here is, whenever this is used with a TextBlock to specify the Text property, my IMultiValueConverter implementation gets an object collection of strings instead of the class returned by the IValueConverter. It seems that the ToString() method is called on the result of the inner converter and passed to the IMultiValueConverter. If used to specify the Content property of Label, all is well. It seems to me that the framework is assuming that the return type will be string, but why? I can see this for the MultiBinding since it should yield a result that is compatible with TextBlock.Text, but why would this also be the case for the Bindings inside a MultiBinding? If I remove the converter from the inner Binding elements, the native types are returned. In my case string and int.

• Log off from Remote Desktop Session does not closing Session, showing the login screen again on Wind

  Hi As per requirement we have written one custom GINA. I have observed one interesting behavior in Windows XP 32 Bit(SP2). Customized GINA internally calls windows default Windows GINA(msgina.dll) and shows one extra window as per our requirement. I used to do remote desktop to XP machine from my machine. After replacing Windows GINA with customized GINA I tried to log off from the XP Machine(I am Using Remote Desktop Connection to log in), Log off completes successfully(After showing saving your settings, Closing network connections etc) and I will get log in screen which we get during log on, this is not expected comapred to other flavors of Windows OD. Where as in other operating systems such as Windows XP 64 Bit/ Windows 2003 32/64 Bit even after replacing the Windows Gina with custom GINA remote desktop session closes after log off from the machine. I have tried installing Novell GINA on Windows XP 32 Bit but i have not find any issue with that. I have Tried upgrading XP SP2 to SP3, still i am facing the same issue. Whether anyone faced Such issues when worked with Windows GINA? Thanks in advance Santhosha K S

• Asp.Net tree view in SharePoint webpart- Input string error

  Hi All, I am facing a very strange issue. I have a SharePoint webpart that displays an asp.net tree view. It takes tree depth from a drop down. To improve performance of the tree view, i am setting the PopulateOnDemand property to true for the last level of the tree depth. For example, if i have a total of 10 levels in the data and the user selects tree depth as 3, then the third level data i set PopulateOnDemand to true. Now comes the strange part. When i click on the + image on the third level, and if there are children under that particular node then call back happens and node gets expanded. But if there no children for that particular node, then click + throws "Input string was not in the correct format" error. I have made sure that there is no server side error. Some things looks to be fishy when internet explorer is trying to bind construct the expanded node. Please let me know if any one faced similar issue or the resolution for the same? • Facebook Connect for simple authentication?

  Hi I have an ASP.net website which I want to introduce 'Facebook Connect' functionality into, purely for account login/creation purposes. I want a user to be able to click the 'Login using Facebook' type button, and to then log that user into my website based on a userid lookup from the Facebook response. I have a couple of questions surrounding this: Presumeably I can do all of this using the Facebook API - without the need for an actual pretty public facing 'application' on Facebook? I simply want to utilise the Facebook API for authenticating an account. I'm not interested in creating some app for doing something 'within' facebook itself. I have located some code snippets online and tried using the Facebook Developer Toolkit, calling the getInfo method, and whilst it does come back to my website with a uid, none of the other user information is present within the response, like Email, Name etc. The uid is the only populated field in the response.
