  • Correct to check for a command line flag in bash

    In the middle of a scrip, I want to check if a given flag was passed on the command line. The following does what I want but seems ugly: if echo $* | grep -e "--flag" -q then echo ">>>> Running with flag" else echo ">>>> Running without flag" fi Is there a better way? Note: I explicitly don't want to list all the flags in a switch/getopt. (And BTW the bodies of the if just set a set of vars)

I need to know what capabilities I can expect to see on other systems. Is there a list of the DirectX capabilities that graphics cards support? When I select the contents of this column using the following select statement: SELECT * FROM categories ORDER BY menu_order ASC It lists the category items that have nothing as their menu order first and then the one's that have 1's and 2's and 3's. Is there any way to prevent SQL from take nothing to come before numbers when I am trying to list things in order? So for example, if I have: cat_name | menu_order ---------------------- Lunch | 1 Dinner | And I perform my query, the output should be: Lunch Dinner Not: Dinner Lunch

It's possible that my computer might be turned off at some point, but the download should resume (probably re-download the current file).   • Subversion: How to make local changes to a file *never* check in, but have it sync with remote anyway?

    I have a file with local changes that should never sync back to the repository because it's for my local installation only. But if that same file is changed in the repo, I want those changes to update my local copy, anyway. At the moment, the file in question always shows up in the list of changes when I want to check-in my changes, and I have to manually exclude it from the check-in. How do I make it so that I can just update, with the above restriction in place? Thanks :)

I need to find the size of that matrix, so I can run some tests without having to iterate through all of the elements.
