  WebForms web site upon first launch from VS2008 throws this exception on my dev machine, after clicking continue everything works. Also, everything works on server when deployed. What is this VJSharpCodeProvider, why is it being loaded in vb.net project and why did it start happening all of a sudden? • iPhone: CATiledLayer/UIScrollView wont scroll after zooming and only zooms to anchor point

  Here is the problem... I am using CA Tiled Layer to display a large jpg. The view loads okay, and when I go to scroll around, it works fine. However, as soon as I zoom in or out once, it scrolls to the top left (to the anchor point) and will not scroll at all. The zooming works fine, but I just cannot scroll. • How to toggle a WPF Grid column visibility

  I'm having some trouble getting this to work in a WPF app I'm working on. Basically, what I'm after is something like the Task pane in an MMC: The app has three columns in the main part of the display. I need a column on the right side which is resizable. I presume this means using a Grid with a GridSplitter but anything that works will do. I want to be able to save the width of the right-side column when the app is closed and load it when the app is opened but this should be an initial size: the user should be able to resize it. When I resize the window, I want the left- and right-side columns to stay the same size and the middle column to resize with the window width. The left- and right-side columns need to have a minimum width. When I resize the right-side column I want the centre column to get smaller but not the left-side column. I also want to be able to toggle the visibility of the right-side column with a toggle button which is outside the column and when it returns to visibility I want it to be the same width it was before. I'm trying to do as much as possible in XAML and with binding. And can I have it topped with cream, ice cream and chocolate chips, please? :-)

• QWebView not loading external resources

  Hi. I'm working on a kiosk web browser using Qt and PyQt4. QWebView seems to work quite well except for one quirk. If a URL fails to load for any reason, I want to redirect the user to a custom error page. I've done this using the loadFinished() signal to check the result, and change the URL to the custom page if necessary using QWebView.load(). However, any page I attempt to load here fails to pull in external resources like CSS or images. Using QWebView.load() to set the initial page at startup seems to work fine, and clicking any link on the custom error page will result in the destination page loading fine. It's just the error page that doesn't work. I'm really not sure where to go next. I've included the source for an app that will replicate the problem below. It takes a URL as a command line argument - a valid URL will display correctly, a bad URL (eg. • Make fancybox jQuery plugin with results from submitting a form on same page

  I am trying to take form results that are generated from a PHP call and populate them into a div that will then appear in a light box upon click of the submit button. So far I have successfully setup the form and am populating the results on the same page into a hidden div. I can make this div appear no problem in a light box by setting up a href link but cannot make it show up by simply by clicking the submit button. I know my fancybox and jQuery calls are good but not sure where I'm going wrong on the submit button. • Javascript menu that hovers over initial element

  I'm trying to build a javascript menu using prototype that when you mouseover an element, that element is hidden and a bigger element is shown in its place that closes onmouseout. This is what I have so far to give you an idea, but it doesn't work and is buggy. • Reading binary data from serial port using Dejan TComport Delphi component

  Apologies for this question but I am a bit of a noob with Delphi. I am using Dejan TComport component to get data from a serial port. A box of equipment connected to the port sends about 100 bytes of binary data to the serial port. What I want to do is extract the bytes as numerical values into an array so that I can perform calculations on them. TComport has a method Read(buffer,Count) which reads DATA from input buffer. function Read(var Buffer; Count: Integer): Integer; The help says the Buffer variable must be large enough to hold Count bytes but does not provide any example of how to use this function. I can see that the Count variable holds the number of bytes received but I can't find a way to access the bytes in Buffer. TComport also has a methord Readstr which reads data from input buffer into a STRING variable. function ReadStr(var Str: String; Count: Integer): Integer; Again the Count variable shows the number of bytes received and I can use Memo1.Text:=str to display some information but obviously Memo1 has problems displaying the control characters. I have tried various ways to try and extract the byte data from Str but so far without success. I am sure it must be easy. Here's hoping.

• Android: Dialog themed activity not visible

  I have an activity which, when started, needs to check if the user is authenticated. If not, I need to display an interface to authenticate. I do this with another activity, which has a dialog theme, and I start it in onResume() with flags NO_HISTORY and EXCLUDE_FROM_RECENTS. Everything works fine when starting the application for the first time. But I have a feature that resets login after some time, if the user is not in an activity. When I test this, I start the applicatio, enter the password, then move back to home. Then when I enter the application again, the background darkens as if the dialog would show, but it doesn't. At this point, if I press the back button, the darkening from the background activity disappears for a second, then the dialog finally appears.   First off, we have this namespaced/sti'd structure for our different types of 'Media' Media< Ar::Base Media::Local < Media Media::Local::Image < Media::Local Media::Local::Csv < Media::Local etc... etc.. This is excellent since a user can have many media, and how we display each piece of media is based on the class name and a co-responding partial. But what if we have some Csv's that need to be secure? That is, they can't reside inside of public. I really hate the idea of branching Media again and doing something like this: Media::Secure < Media Media::Secure::Image < Media::Secure Media::NotSecure < Media Media::NotSecure::Image < Media::NotSecure ...where Secure and NotSecure would have different params passed to has_attached_file. Now there are two classes that represent Image and it makes my view/helper system that much more complicated -- not to mention it feels very obtuse. What I would really like to do is be able to change where certain Paperclip::Attachment objects get saved before they get saved (e.g. anything uploaded through foo_secure_action) -- but I can't seem to make this work. Paperclip::Attachment has an @options hash with :path and :url, but changing those before it is saved doesn't have an effect on where it actually gets set. Even if this is possible, I'm not sure if it would have further consequences... I'm open to alternative ideas for structuring this data, but for the moment I like the idea of using STI for this situation.

  I have divs that I want to display at specific times throughout the day. I have it working in PHP, but it requires refreshing the browser manually. I would like my script to automatically load the right div when the time is right. Am I on the right track? Perhaps there is a jquery plugin for this sort of thing that would handle the refreshing? • jQuery UI - addClass removeClass - CSS values are stuck

  Hi, I'm trying to do a simple animation. You show the div. It animates correctly. You hide the div. Correct. You show the div again. It shows but there is no animation. It is stuck at the value of when you first interrupted it. So somehow the interpolation CSS that is happening during [add|remove]Class is getting stuck there. The second time around, the [add|remove]Class is actually running, but the css it's setting from the class is getting ignored (I think being overshadowed). How can I fix this WITHOUT resorting to .animate and hard-coded style values? The whole point was to put the animation end point in a css class. • josso newbie setup problems - can't use tomcat's manager page

  I'm trying to setup josso on an apache tomcat server running on windows. I've installed Apache Tomcat/6.0.26 fro zip file to c:\tomcat then installed josso following the documentation at http://www.josso.org/confluence/display/JOSSO1/Quick+Start started tomcat with c:\tomcat\bin\startup.bat, and noticed the following warnings ADVERTENCIA: [SetPropertiesRule]{Server/Service/Engine/Realm} Setting property ' debug' to '1' did not find a matching property. 21/03/2010 15:55:03 org.apache.tomcat.util.digester.SetPropertiesRule begin ADVERTENCIA: [SetPropertiesRule]{Server/Service/Engine/Host/Valve} Setting prope rty 'appName' to 'josso' did not find a matching property. ... • Binding WPF menu items to WPF Tab Control Items collection

  I have a WPF Menu and a Tab control. I would like the list of menu items to be generated from the collection of TabItems on my tab control. I am binding my tab control to a collection to generate the TabItems. I have a TabItem style that uses a ContentPresenter to display the TabItem text in a TextBlock. When I bind the tab items to my menu the menu items are blank. I assume the menu items are looking for the Header property of the TabItems which I am not using. Is there a workaround for my scenario? Is it possible to bind to the Header property of the tab item, when I do not know the number of tabs in advance? Below is a copy of my xaml declarations. • Parsing XML via jQuery, nested loops

  I am using jQuery to parse XML on my page using $.ajax(). My code block is below and I can get this working to display say each result on the XML file, but I am having trouble because each section can have MORE THAN ONE and im trying to print ALL grades that belong to ONE STUDENT. • Cannot get assembly version for footer

  I'm using the automatic build versioning mentioned in this question (not the selected answer but the answer that uses the [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] technique). I'm doing this in the footer of my Site.Master file in MVC 2. My code for doing this is as follows: <div id="footer"> <a href="emailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a> - Copyright © 2005-<%= DateTime.Today.Year.ToString() %>, foo LLC. All Rights Reserved. - Version: <%= Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().GetName().Version.ToString() %> </div> The exception I get is a Object reference not set to an instance of an object because GetEntryAssembly() returns NULL. My other options don't work either. GetCallingAssembly() always returns "4.0.0.0" and GetExecutingAssembly() always returns "0.0.0.0". When I go look at my DLLs, everything is versioning as I would expect. But I cannot figure out how to access it to display in my footer!!

• Using jstl tags in a dynamically created div

  I want to be able to show some data based on criteria the user enters in a text field. I can easily take this data, process the form post, and show the data on another page. However, I want to be able to do it all on the same page - they click the button, and a new div shows up with the information. This doesn't seem too complicated, but I want to use jstl tags to format the data like: <c:forEach items="${model.data}" var="d"> <tr> <td><fmt:formatDate type="date" dateStyle="short" timeStyle="default" value="${d.reportDate}" /></td> <td><c:out value="${d.cardType}"/></td> </tr> </c:forEach> If jstl tags are processed when the page loads, can I use that in this new div? Can I update it via a javascript (using prototype) function to display the proper data? Will I be able to do the same thing if they change the criteria and click the submit button again?

• Google Maps API DirectionsRendererOptions not working?

  I am trying to use DirectionsRenderer to display a DirectionsResult without the route list. According to the API version 3 documentation, there is a "hideRouteList" property of the DirectionsRendererOptions object that when set to true should hide the route list. I cannot get it to work. Is this a bug or am I just not coding this correctly? • Not able to save extjs combo using grails controller

  Hi all, I am a newbie to grails/extjs I am developing a web based config tool for my team .My issue is with comboboxes of extjs I have three remote comboxes(many to one hibernate mappng).I am using hiddenName to submit its value field(which is id primay key of database) instead of its display field which is name which i get by rendering it as json.some how I see that if I select diff index other than which is loaded from db and try updating it.it definitely sends it as params but in save method of grails its not updated. I want to understand Why? • Application Errors vs User Errors in PHP

  So after much debate back and forth, I've come up with what I think may be a valid plan to handle Application/System errors vs User Errors (I.e. Validation Issues, Permission Issues etc). Application/System Errors will be handled using a custom error handler (via set_error_handler()). Depending on the severity of the error, the user may be redirected to a generic error page (I.e. Fatal Error), or the error may simply be silently logged (i.e E_WARNING). These errors are ones most likely caused by issues outside the users control (Missing file, Bad logic, etc). The second set of errors would be User Generated ones. These are the ones may not automatically trigger an error but would be considered one. In these cases i"ve decided to use the trigger_error() function and typically throw a waning or notice which would be logged silently by the error handler. After that it would be up to the developer to then redirect the user to another page or display some sort of more meaningful message to the user. This way an error of any type is always logged, but user errors still allow the developer freedom to handle it in their own ways. I.e. Redirect them back to their form with it fully repopulated and a message of what went wrong. Does anyone see anything wrong with this, or have a more intuitive way? My approach to error handling is typically everyone has their own ways but there must be a way instituted.

• How to deal with special characters in ASP.NET's HyperLink.NavigateUrl?

  I am currently having troubles figuring out how to handle a filepath to be (dynamicly) passed out to a HyperLink control's NavigateUrl property. Let's say that I'm trying to refer to a file named jäynä.txt at the root of C:. Passing "file:///C:/jäynä.txt" result to a link to file:///C:/jäynä.txt, as does HttpUtility.UrlPathEncode("file:///C:/jäynä.txt"). Replacing the äs with %E4, which gives the string "file:///C:/j%E4yn%E4.txt", does give a working link to file:///C:/jäynä.txt, but I have not been able to find a way to make the replacement without defining it myself. With Replace("ä", "%E4"), for example. Is there a way to automaticly handle the filepath string so that the HyperLink would display it correctly, without manualy listing what characters to replace in the string? Additional Note: There may be a way to work around this by spesifying the character encoding in which the page is rendered, because debugging shows that the HyperLink at least saves the string "file:///C:/jäynä.txt" unchanged, but somehow mangles it around the time of rendering. However, this seems only be the case in rendering of the NavigateUrl because other components as well as HyperLink's Text-property are all quite capable of rendering the character ä unchanged.

• jquery Ajax call resulting in Undefined Error in Firefox

  Hi I've been pulling my hair out for the last few hours with this problem. And the googling has been hampered by the very vagueness of this. So let me apologise for that first. Basically I'm using jquery and ajax (with C#) to return data from the backend and display that to the screen. The code works perfectly for firefox and IE. But when the data gets too large (??) (1500+ table rows) all I get is an undefined popup. Debugging in firefox (3.6) it doesn't even go into the success method. Worse still it doesn't even go into the error method. A lot of superfluous information there, but I'd rather show everything I'm doing.   I am building my portfolio website simply using HTML, Flash, and the Mootools Javascript framework. I have decided to implement a theme changing feature using Javascript and cookies. When the user clicks on the "Change Theme" link, a mediaboxAdvanced lightbox appears, containing a real-time form which allows you to change the theme on the portfolio.
