• Module import error using IDLE

  I'm an absolute beginner using IDLE (Python 2.6.4) to learn the basics.   I'm having trouble reading special characters from stdin. • Parse M3U file locations to fully qualified paths

  I would like to parse the file location information in an M3U playlist into fully qualified paths. The possible formats in M3U files seem to be: c:\mydir\songs\tune.mp3 \songs\tune.mp3 ..\songs\tune.mp3 For the first example, just leave it alone. For the second add the directory that the playlist resides in so it would become c:\playlists\songs\tune.mp3 and the same for the third case so it would also become: c:\playlists\songs\tune.mp3. I'm using vb under VS2008 and I can't find a way to recognise each of the potential location formats in the M3U file. System.IO.Path offers no solution that I can find. I've searched extensively for terms like "convert relative path to absolute" but no luck. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

• Execution of "mvn sonar:sonar" with no external access

  Hello, I try to execute the mvn sonar:sonar command on a machine where Maven is configured to have no access to external repositories (in reality, this is not exactly the case, but it helps me to explain my problem). So currently, if I run this command, I get the following error: [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] The plugin 'org.codehaus.mojo:sonar-maven-plugin' does not exist or no valid version could be found I think it means that I have some incorrect metadata in my local repository, as I have a [local repo]\org\codehaus\mojo\sonar-maven-plugin\1.0-beta-1 directory (with the JAR inside, of course). • Python: Define Classes in Packages

  I'm learning Python and I have been playing around with packages. I wanted to know the best way to define classes in packages. It seems that the only way to define classes in a package is to define them in init.py of that package. Coming from Java, I'd kind of like to define individual files for my classes. Is this a recommended practice? I'd like to have my directory look somewhat like this: recursor/ __init__.py RecursionException.py RecursionResult.py Recursor.py So I could refer to my classes as "recursor.Recursor," "recursor.RecursionException," and "recursor.RecursionResult.py". Is this "do-able" or recommended in Python?

  I have a defines.wxi-file which contains some good definitions used in all my wxs-files. When I attempt to reference the defined value I get Undefined preprocessor variable '$(var.MAGE_FOLDER)' back in my face. I guess there is something trivial I am missing here... • Sharepoint and SQL server Endpoint

  I created a LinkedServer on MS SQL Server 2005 pointing to my Active Directory. Nothing too fancy. Simple LinkedServer with ReadOnlyAdmin Account assigned to CONNECTAS Property. Then I created some storedprocedures to retreive some data from the LinkedServer. Again nothing too fancy. Just a few simple LDAP Queries. Then I created a SQL Endpoint to expose these stored procedures as Web services. Using Visual Studio 2008, everything is fine and dandy. It finds the endpoint, gets the list of the methods available and runs smoothly. Cool. But the Sharpeoint Add Web Service somehow doesn't work! It finds the WSDL file no prob. Retrieves the list of functions and parameterss n all but just simply doesn't run them! Any advice or where I should start checking?

  Hi, I'm writing an app that calls ruby code from c. I am having a little difficulty and wondered if anyone could point me in the rite direction. I currently have in my C. #include ruby.h main() { ruby_init(); rb_require("myRubyFile"); rb_funcall(rb_module_new(), rb_intern("RubyFunction"), 0, NULL); } My ruby file is in the same directory as my c file and is called myRubyFile.rb and contains a definition of the function RubyFunction(). This is a cut down of what I actually want to do, just making it more readable for others. I just require some feedback as to whether this is the correct method to call ruby code from my c file. • Including libraries in project. Best practise.

  Hi guys, I'm writing a Python open-source app. My app uses some open source Python libraries. These libraries in turn use other open-source libraries. I intend to release my code at Sourceforge or Google Code but do I need to include the sources of the other libraries? Is this a good practice? ...or should I simply write this information into a README file informing the use about the other required libraries. I've placed all these libraries into a libs sub folder in my source directory. When checking my code into SVN, should I use something called svn:externals to link to other sources? Is there a way to dynamically update my libraries to the latest version or is this something I have to do manually when I release a new version. My sincerest apologies if my question sounds vague but I'm pretty lost in this matter and I don't know what to Google for. Thanks all.

• getting rid of ruby gems that won't die

  I've got a few ruby gems that won't go away. I think it has to do with when I installed them. Occasionally I have forgotten to use "sudo" before doing a gem install, which results in a write error and from what I can gather puts a copy of the gem in my user directory instead of somewhere it can run. But gem uninstall doesn't work. It continually shows up in 'gem list' but can't uninstall it from either gem uninstall, or sudo gem uninstall. I tried directly deleting one gem after finding the path in my 'gem environment', but that still left the gem on the list. Also is it possible just to remove all gems and start from scratch? These are driving me nuts. I'm running OS X. Thanks,

  I apologize in advance if the question is dummy ,i use Python 3.2.3 on Windows xp ,now i need Python3.3.2 , but i can't remove Python 3.2.3 because i have many codes and packages need to be run by it. I installed virtualenv to run two versions of Python in two different environments , but after that i didn't know what to do to run a code using Python 3.3.2 , here what i did: C:\>virtualenv.exe env1 C:\>env1\Scripts\activate now i don't know what to do after a folder was created its name env1 , i downloaded Python 3.3.2 and installed it in the same folder (env1) , is that correct ? then i try the following: (env1) C:\>python3.3.2 I got the following : 'python3.3.2' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. also i tried : (env1) C:\>python python33 I got the following: python: can't open file 'python33': [Errno 2] No such file or directory As i mentioned , i stuck at this point , any help will be very appreciated.   I'm using Tomcat 6, and this is my logging.properties: handlers = org.apache.juli.FileHandler, java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler .level=FINE org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext.level = OFF org.apache.juli.FileHandler.level = ALL org.apache.juli.FileHandler.directory = ${catalina.base}/logs org.apache.juli.FileHandler.prefix = mylog. java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = FINE java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter On the one hand, Tomcat seems to read this file, as it correctly saves the logfiles with the prefix "mylog" and prints only messages with log-level FINE and above. On the other hand, it keeps on writing log messages like this: Jun 8, 2010 9:53:30 PM org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext log SEVERE: Error writing messages ClientAbortException: java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe I actually wanted to suppress all log messages from this class, as they flood my logfile, and the error is irrelevant for me. So why is the following line ignored? org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext.level = OFF Is there any other way to suppress the log output of this class?

• Visual Web Developer 2005 Express loads very slowly

  I admit that I am not a guru of Visual Studio products at all. I am using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and I'm trying to load someone else's project. This project happens to be a website with many pages. After loading VWD, it asks for a project to open and I select the solution file. It then proceeds to take an extremely long time to load. The status bar indicates that references are being loaded, many of which are in the System.Web.* area it seems. It seems like it's going back and forth between some different packages. The loading time is upwards of 20 to 30 minutes or more. Some others have stated that their projects open fine when they go to File Open Website... and choose the project directory from there. Any ideas what the problem could be and how to fix it? Edit: It finally completed loading after an hour approximately.

  We are using JMX for communication between different EARs on the same Websphere application server (6.1). All works well if we only use Java types as arguments, but if we use or own the problem is that we get ClassCastExceptions on the receiver side. This is obviously a classloader problem: if the jar with the argument types is put into the JRE endorsed directory, such that all classloaders use exactly the same class, the Exception disappear. But we would much prefer to put the library that defines the argument types in the EAR itself. Now my question: is there a trick to persuade WAS to serialize and deserialize the arguments during the JMX call? I guess in this case the ClassCastException would dissappear.

So after giving g++ the -L hints and the absolute path in #include, I can get it to work, but I don't think I have to do this, how can I make g++/ld search int eh right places for the libraries?   i have a custom buildchain for an android project. there is a build.xml and build.properties. build.properties contains this line: manifest.file =${env.WORK_FOLDER}/AndroidManifest.xml and WORK_FOLDER is correctly set to proj_root_work. the layout is like the following: proj_root-_work [DIR] (some stuff gets preprocessed and all finally copied here - src, res, assets and the AndroidManifest.xml) -build.xml -build.properties then i call ant for my build configuration from the proj_root and it complains about not finding AndroidManifest.xml. when i put it in my proj_root it works, but i really want it in my _Work directory. i read that the file HAS TO BE in the root, what is the point then of the build.properties entry? also i saw some custom parameters to aapt.exe ... any hints welcome, thx

• Advanced Array Sorting in Ruby

  I'm currently working on a project in ruby, and I hit a wall on how I should proceed. In the project I'm using Dir.glob to search a directory and all of its subdirectories for certain file types and placing them into an arrays. The type of files I'm working with all have the same file name and are differentiated by their extensions. For example, txt_files = Dir.glob("**/*.txt") doc_files = Dir.glob("**/*.doc") rtf_files = Dir.glob("**/*.rtf") Would return something similar to, FILECON.txt ASSORTED.txt FIRST.txt FILECON.doc ASSORTED.doc FIRST.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.rtf FIRST.rtf So, the question I have is how I could break down these arrays efficiently (dealing with thousands of files) and placing all files with the same filename into an array. The new array would look like, FILECON.txt FILECON.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.txt ASSORTED.doc ASSORTED.rtf etc. etc. I'm not even sure if glob would be the correct way to do this (all the files with the same file name are in the same folders). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
