• Python - do big doc strings waste memory?

  I understand that in Python a string is simply an expression and a string by itself would be garbage collected immediately upon return of control to a code's caller, but... Large class/method doc strings in your code: do they waste memory by building the string objects up? Module level doc strings: are they stored infinitely by the interpreter? Does this even matter? My only concern came from the idea that if I'm using a large framework like Django, or multiple large open source libraries, they tend to be very well documented with potentially multiple megabytes of text. In these cases are the doc strings loaded into memory for code that's used along the way, and then kept there, or is it collected immediately like normal strings?

  I've got a controller called SolutionsController whose index action is different depending on the value of params[:user_id]. If its nil, then it simply displays all of the solutions on my site, but if its not nil, then it displays all of the solutions for the given user id. There is no JSON tab present when I expand GET request in Firebug.

• MFC CTreeCtrl max visible item text length

  Hello I have an application that outputs large amounts of text data to an MFC tree control. When I call SetItemText() with a long string (larger then 1000+ char) only the first ~250 chars are displayed in the control. But when I call GetItemText() on the item the entire string is returned (1000+ chars) My questions are; Is there a MAX visible string length for a MFC tree control? Is there any way to increase the visible limit?   I'm building a number of artefacts (zip files for different environments: test, dev) using the maven-assembly-plugin using a specialized Maven profile. These artefacts I want to copy/collect on on a FTP server keeping the version (01.07.10.16.Wed-1626) as a folder, so I need to copy from test/build/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ to ftp://my-ftp-server:21/projects/myserver-1.7/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ The layout for the Maven output is this: target/ build/ 01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-dev.zip my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-test.zip For copying the artefacts I'm using FTP Publisher Plugin but it seams I miss something since that even the build is OK and the artefacts are build without problem but the job is finishing without copying the artefacts, and in the console there is no log info about copying the artefacts My FTP publisher config (FTP repository hosts) is: Hostname: my-ftp-server Port: 21 Timeout: 10000 Root Repository Path: projects User Name: my-user Password: my-pass My Hudson job FTP publisher config (Publish artifacts to FTP) is: FTP site: my-ftp-server Files to upload Source: target/build/** Destination: myserver-1.7 1: There is any log to check if there are any FTP copy errors ? 2: There is any problem with the file pattern (source) or with the dest ?

  Hi everyone, here's my very simple question: merge() only takes two data frames as input. I need to merge a series of data frames from a list, using the same keys for every merge operation. Given a list named "test", I want to do something like: do.call("merge", test). I could write some kind of loop, but I'm wondering if there's a standard or built-in way to do this more efficiently.   I'd like to use doctests to test the presence of certain warnings. It looks like the warning is getting printed but not captured or noticed by doctest. I'm guessing that this is because warnings are printed to sys.stderr instead of sys.stdout. But this happens even when I say sys.stderr = sys.stdout at the end of my module. So is there any way to use doctests to test for warnings? I can find no mention of this one way or the other in the documentation or in my Google searching.

I need some lib with simple function like "Render String Var conteining HTML" So no external files (like in flash lib called HTMLwraper you just have to play your SWF on top of HTML). dinamic! I give it string it renders It into some conteiner (not as a bitmab but as if it was real HTML dynamically rendered in flash). (And I need real HTML + CSS support not what normal rich text block gives us) I am going to use it in with Flex (Flash Builder) so I like MXML component model but even pure flash AS3 will workout. It should be Free and Opensource (any license like GPL, LGPL etc will be ok). So Is out there such flash\flex library for HTML + CSS dynamic rendering (rfom given String or XML)?

  Hello. I'm implementing a webapp using node.js and express, using the jade template engine. Templates render fine, and can access helpers and dynamic helpers, but not local variables other than the "body" local variable, which is provided by express and is available and defined in my layout.jade. This is some of the code: app.set ('view engine', 'jade'); app.get ("/test", function (req, res) { res.render ('test', { locals: { name: "jake" } }); }); and this is test.jade: p hello =name when I remove the second line (referencing name), the template renders correctly, showing the word "hello" in the web page. When I include the =name, it throws a ReferenceError: 500 ReferenceError: Jade:2 NaN. 'p hello' NaN. '=name' name is not defined NaN. 'p hello' NaN. '=name' I believe I'm following the jade and express examples exactly with respect to local variables. Am I doing something wrong, or could this be a bug in express or jade?

  I know I'm able to this in PHP, but I can't remember the name or the way to do it, so I'll just explain what it is, and when someone tells me how it's called I'll update this question. I have some error messages defined as constants on javascript, however, some of those messages need to contain dynamic part as in the following example. "The username must be between 4 and 20 characters" In php, If I'm not mistaken there was some option for storing that string in a way that when called it would replace the variables with the data provided on the call. I want to do that on javascript, something like: config['string',vars] And have javascript insert those vars inside the string so it's customized. Wow, this must be the worst question I've made! I'm sorry for the lack of information, I'm kinda braindead on Sundays.

  I'm creating a program that checks if a word or phrase is a palindrome. I have the actual "palindrome tester" figured out. What I'm stuck with is where and what to place in my code to have the console read out "Enter palindrome..." and then text. I've tried with IO but it doesnt work out right. Also, how do I create a loop to keep going?
