  I am trying to make some enhancements to a production web app. After quite a bit of unit testing on my WinXP IIS 5.1 development machine, everything works on my localhost so I used the Visual Studio 2008 PUBLISH dialog on my Dev PC to push the following projects to a staging server: the primary web app the "primary" webservice (the home page tries to invoke this WS) a "secondary" webservice (not yet a problem because home page does not invoke this WS) I get the following when I try to browse to the home page of the web app typing this into my browser: link text Server Error in '/zVersion2' Application. The staging server is Win Server 2003 ServicePack 2 running IIS 6.0. When I published the primary site and the 2 webservices on the staging server called MOJITO I created the physical directories for each on the D drive. Then using INETMGR, I configured the following virtual directories: zVersion2 zVersion2wsSQL zVersion2wsEmergency All of the above are configured to use a new application pool I setup and named zVersion2aspNet20. The default web site for this machine MOJITO is configured to use ASP.NET 1.1 and the IP address is set to (All Unassigned). The production versions of the latter 2 webservices run on the MOJITO machine (named ZipeeeService and EmergencyService respectively). Can my staging versions of the above webservices (named zVersion2wsSQL and zVersion2wsEmergency respectively) co-exist on the same web server with the same IP address? Please note that when I test the zVersion2wsSQL webservice independently (from INETMGR right-mouse and click Browse) it works as expected (i.e. presenting all the methods of the webservice) like this snippet: GetMessageByType MessageName="Get_x0020_Message_x0020_By_x0020_Type" I can test this webmethod by clicking on it and it presents the Test dialog (because it takes a simple datatype and I am invoking it on localhost (i.e. MOJITO): **Get Message By Type** **Test** To test the operation using the HTTP POST protocol, click the 'Invoke' button. • WCF Publish/Subscribe and using callbacks to send data to specific users

  Hello thanks for looking, I'm working on a project at the moment and have become a little stuck. I'm creating a client server app, which allows a client to subscribe to the server to have messages forwarded to it. The issue I'm having is that when the client subscribes I wish for them to only recieve updates that relate to them. The system basically passes messages from a SQL server DB which the server monitors. When a new message is recieved the server should only forward the message to the clients that it applys to, based on whos logged on the client machine. I've had a look and found code samples which sign up for messages to be broadcast across all clients who have subscribed, but not any that show how to identify individual clients and if messages apply to them. If anyone could help or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. • Multi-level navigation controller on left-hand side of UISplitView with a small twist.

  Hi. I'm trying make something similar to (but not exactly like) the email app found on the iPad. Specifically, I'd like to create a tab-based app, but each tab would present the user with a different UISplitView. Each UISplitView contains a Master and a Detail view (obviously). In each UISplitView I would like the Master to be a multi-level navigational controller where new UIViewControllers are pushed onto (or popped off of) the stack. This type of navigation within the UISplitView is where the application is similar to the native email app. To the best of my knowledge, the only place that has described a decent "splitviewcontroller inside of a uitabbarcontroller" is here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2475139/uisplitviewcontroller-in-a-tabbar-uitabbarcontroller and I've tried to follow the accepted answer. The accepted solution seems to work for me (i.e., I get a tab-bar controller that allows me to switch between different UISplitViews). The problem is that I don't know how to make the left-hand side of the UISplitView to be a multi-level navigation controller. • Getting this CSS to work in IE6

  Hi folks, Working on this page: http://www.karlsenner.dreamhosters.com/about.php and having trouble with the navigation in IE6. It validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional. Works great in FF, IE 8, Chrome, and Windows Safari. In IE6 and Opera 10 the drop menus appear too high. I tried adding in the different versions of http://code.google.com/p/ie7-js/ but it did not solve the issue in IE. Since the menu is coming out of PHP and IE was not respecting the widths I just use PHP to get the nav image widths and write them to styles on the fly. Solved the width issue as IE acted like they should inherit their width from the wrapper. • ASP.NET MVC jquery.UI dialog - How to validate the dialog's input on server and return error?

  I am using jQuery1.4.2, ASP.NET MVC 2 and jQuery.UI-1.8. I am creating a data input dialog which works OK when all the data is valid, but I want to validate the input data on the server and return an error to the dialog describing the error and I am not quite sure how to do that and keep the dialog open. The dialog is opened when a link is clicked. The solution may be to try to bypass more of the MVC framework's default binding that handles the submit button clicks and creates the expected ProfilePermission object and calls the Controller's AddPermission POST Action method, but I was hoping there may be an easier way without have to write more jquery/javascript code to handle the button clicks and pass the data to the server. A strongly named application or component cannot reference a weak-named component, so strong-naming an EXE prevents the EXE from referencing weak-named DLLs that are deployed with the application. For this reason, the Visual Studio project system does not strong-name application EXEs. Instead, it strong-names the Application manifest, which internally points to the weak-named application EXE. I expected VS to avoid this problem, but I had no luck there, it complained about all the unsigned references, so I created a separate "WCF Service Library" project inside my solution containing only code above and signed that one. At this point entire solution compiled just okay. And here's my problem: When I fired up "WCF Service Configuration Editor" I was able to add new behavior element extension (say "AuthExtension"), but then when I tried to add that extension to my end point behavior it gives me: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. So I'm stuck here. Any ideas?

• ASP.NET MVC : AJAX ActionLink - Persist Data

  Hi guys, I'm really new at this and I was searching the web for an answer to my question and I couldn't find it, so here I am posting my question :) I'm trying to create a new record in my table Facility. For my goreign keys I'm displaying the choices in tables instead of a dropdowns. When the user clicks on the select link which is an Ajax.ActionLink(), I wanna retrieve the right record from the DB and set the foreign key of my object Facility to the one slected and replace the Div by a new Partial View. The problem is when I try to submit the form, the Facility object doesnt seem to have the foreign key that I've just set in my ajax fuction in my controller. And if the user has enter some data in the other fields of the create form, I don't them to lose what they already entered. Here's my code. • Point in polygon OR point on polygon using LINQ

  As noted in an earlier question, How to Zip enumerable with itself, I am working on some math algorithms based on lists of points. I am currently working on point in polygon. I have the code for how to do that and have found several good references here on SO, such as this link Hit test. So, I can figure out whether or not a point is in a polygon. As part of determining that, I want to determine if the point is actually on the polygon. This I can also do. If I can do all of that, what is my question you might ask? Can I do it efficiently using LINQ? I can already do something like the following (assuming a Pairwise extension method as described in my earlier question as well as in links to which my question/answers links, and assuming a Position type that has X and Y members). I have not tested much, so the lambda might not be 100% correct. The lambda expression will yield, into the "zipped" list, 1 for every segment that is crossed, and 0 for the rest. The sum of these values determines if pt is inside or outside of the polygon (odd == inside, even == outside). So far, so good. Now, for any consecutive pairs of position values in the sequence (i.e. in any execution of the lambda), we can also determine if pt is ON the segment p1, p2. If that is the case, we can stop the calculation because we have our answer. Ultimately, my question is this: Can I perform this calculation (maybe using Aggregate?) such that we will only iterate over the sequence no more than 1 time AND can we stop the iteration if we encounter a segment that pt is ON? In other words, if pt is ON the very first segment, there is no need to examine the rest of the segments because we have the answer. It might very well be that this operation (particularly the requirement/desire to possibly stop the iteration early) does not really lend itself well to the LINQ approach. It just occurred to me that maybe the lambda expression could yield a tuple, the intersection value (1 or 0 or maybe true or false) and the "on" value (true or false). Maybe then I could use TakeWhile(anontype.PointOnPolygon == false). If I Sum the tuples and if ON == 1, then the point is ON the polygon. Otherwise, the oddness or evenness of the sum of the other part of the tuple tells if the point is inside or outside.

• Grails - Simple hasMany Problem - Using CheckBoxes rather than HTML Select in create.gsp

  My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. • How to tell Seam to inject a local EJB interface (SLSB) and not the remote EJB interface (SLSB)?

  Hello, I am using Seam with JBoss AS. In my application I have a SLSB which is also declared as a seam component using the @Name annotation. I am trying to inject and use this SLSB in another seam component using the @In annotation. My problem is that sometimes Seam injects the local interface (then the code runs fine) and sometimes seam injects the remote interface (then there is an error in execution of the code). I have tried doing all the things specified on this link: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.2.0.GA/reference/en-US/html/configuration.html#config.integration.ejb.container The SeamInterceptor is configured, I have specified the jndi pattern in components.xml file ( < core:init debug="true" jndi-pattern="earName/#{ejbName}/local"/ ), I have also tried using the @JndiName("earName/ejbName/local") annotation for every SLSB, I have tried setting this property ( org.jboss.seam.core.init.jndiPattern=earName/#{ejbName}/local ) in the seam.properties file. I have also tried putting the text below in web.xml file <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.jndiPattern</param-name> <param-value>earName/#{ejbName}/local</param-value> </context-param> Even after doing all the above mentioned things, the seam still injects the remote interface sometimes. Am I missing something here? Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue and tell seam to always inject the local interface? • Salesforce/PHP - Bulk Outbound message (SOAP), Time out issue - See update #2

  Salesforce can send up to 100 requests inside 1 SOAP message. While sending this type of Bulk Ooutbound message request my PHP script finishes executing but SF fails to accept the ACK used to clear the message queue on the Salesforce side of things. Looking at the Outbound message log (monitoring) I see all the messages in a pending state with the Delivery Failure Reason "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out". If my script has finished execution, why do I get this error? I have tried these methods to increase the execution time on my server as I have no access on the Salesforce side: set_time_limit(0); // in the script max_execution_time = 360 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds max_input_time = 360 ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data memory_limit = 32M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume I used the high settings just for testing. Any thoughts as to why this is failing the ACK delivery back to Salesforce? I can process about 25 requests (That are in 1 SOAP response) but once I go over that I get the timeout error in the Salesforce queue. for 50 requests is usually takes my PHP script 86.77 seconds. Could it be Apache? PHP? I have also tested just accepting the 100 request SOAP response and just accepting and sending the ACK the queue clears out, so I know it's on my side of things. I show no errors in the apache log, the script runs fine. I did find some info on the Salesforce site but still no luck. Here is the link. Also I'm using the PHP Toolkit 11 (From Salesforce). Other forum with good SF help Thanks for any insight into this, --Phill UPDATE: If I receive the incoming message and print the response, should this happen first regardless if I do anything else after? Or does it wait for my process to finish and then print the response? UPDATE #2: okay I think I have the problem: PHP uses the single thread processing approach and will not send back the ACK file until the thread has completed it's processing. Is there a way to make this a mutli thread process? Thread #1 - accept the incoming SOAP request and send back the ACK Thread #2 - Process the SOAP request I know I could break it up into like a DB table or flat file, but is there a way to accomplish this without doing that? I'm going to try to close the socket after the ACK submission and continue the processing, cross my fingers it will work.

• Facebook require_login() in iFrame App

  Hi, I have serious problem with iframe application. I need to use many external JS libraries and other dynamic stuuf so FMBL application can't be done. When I call require_login() I get applicaition installing dialog when app is not already installed, which is ok. But then after authorization application enters an endless redirect loop with parameters like auth_token, installed and so. Yesterday I managed to fix this, but today it's broken again... What the heck is happening with FB? It's driving me crazy to find a sollution, none of ones found on net doesn't seem to be working. • WCF errors in VS 2010/.Net 4 using sample publish/subscribe app from IDesign website

  I am attempting to compile/run a sample WCF application from Juval Lowy's website (author of Programming WCF Services & founder of IDesign). The application is an example of a publish/subscribe 'traffic-light' application that requires using VS 2010/.Net 4. This is my first attempt at using anything other than VS 2008/Net 3.5. My Entities have the following relationship. tblPortal PortalId PrortalName tblPortalAlias AliasId PortalId HttpAlias Each Portal can have many PortalAlias. I want to Add a New Portal and then Add the associated PortalAlias. I am confused on how I should structure the Views and how I should present the Views to the user.   I've stumbled upon what I believe is a bug in the stl algorithm advance. When I'm advancing the iterator off of the end of the container, I get inconsistent results. Sometimes I get container.end(), sometimes I get the last element. • YUI Calendar: how does it load the Sam's Skin CSS?

  I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. How does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css). Strangely, I don't see it being downloaded nor do I see it in the JS files themselves. I must be overlooking it. • How to configure a GridView CommandField to trigger Full Page Update in UpdatePanel

  I have 2 user controls on my page. One is used for searching, and the other is used for editing (along with a few other things). The user control that provides the search functionality uses a GridView to display the search results. This GridView has a CommandField used for editing (showEditButton="true"). I would like to place the GridView into an UpdatePanel so that paging through the search results will be smooth. The thing is that when the user clicks the Edit Link (the CommandField) I need to preform a full page postback so that the search user control can be hidden and the edit user control can be displayed. Edit: the reason I need to do a full page postback is because the edit user control is outside of the UpdatePanel that my GridView is in. It is not only outside the UpdatePanel, but it's in a completely different user control. I have no idea how to add the CommandField as a full page postback trigger to the UpdatePanel. The PostBackTrigger (which is used to indicate the controls cause a full page postback) takes a ControlID as a parameter; however the CommandButton does not have an ID...and you can see why I'm having a problem with this. Update on what else I've tried to solve the problem: I took a new approach to solving the problem. In my new approach, I used a TemplateField instead of a CommandField. I placed a LinkButton control in the TemplateField and gave it a name. During the GridView's RowDataBound event I retrieved the LinkButton control and added it to the UpdatePanel's Triggers. This is the ASP Markup for the UpdatePanel and the GridView <asp:UpdatePanel ID="SearchResultsUpdateSection" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:GridView ID="SearchResultsGrid" runat="server" AllowPaging="true" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField> <HeaderTemplate></HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton ID="Edit" runat="server" Text="Edit"></asp:LinkButton> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:BoundField ...... </Columns> </asp:GridView> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> In my VB.NET code. I implemented a function that handles the GridView's RowDataBound event. In this method I find the LinkButton for the row being bound to, create a PostBackTrigger for the LinkButton, and add it to the UpdatePanel's Triggers. This means that a PostBackTrigger is created for every "edit" LinkButton in the GridView Edit: this did not create a PostBackTrigger for Every "edit" LinkButton because the ID is the same for all LinkButtons in the GridView. Private Sub SearchResultsGrid_RowCommand(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewCommandEventArgs) Handles SearchResultsGrid.RowCommand RaiseEvent EditRecord(Me, New EventArgs()) End Sub This new approach didn't work at all because all of the LinkButtons in the GridView have the same ID. After reading the MSDN article on the UpdatePanel.Triggers Property I have the impression that Triggers can only be defined declaratively. • ModalPopupExtender z-index value decreases after every show

  This is a new one I have never seen before. I have a gridview containing a bunch of categories that can be edited by clicking on the respective "Edit" link within the gridview. The modalpopupextender is then shown programmatically (.show() method) and the user is allowed to edit the category. Then the modal popup is programmtically hidden (.hide() method) when the user presses "Update" or "Cancel". For some reason after every new show of the modal popup, the z-index is decreasing by 1000 until it is hidden behind everything on my page. It starts at 7000 for the very first show. Therefore the user would not be able to edit an infinite number of categories if they wanted to. Any ideas why this is happening?
