• how can c# help in drawing using memory layers concept?

  hello all i am facing problem in drawing dynamically in a picture box. i works very good when the drawing objects are few but as the drawing objects increases the response time of my GUI is getting worse and worse, my GUI works very well up to 90 drawing objects but i have to support more than 1000 so this technique didn't work for me. know i have decided to adopt layers mechanism, i mean i will draw different layers of drawing in memory and then XOR them to load the final image to my display. the question is "i Can play directly with memory do draw layers using C# (Examples needed?)" other ideas are also appreciated, (Drawing objects means the shapes line,circles etc. that i have to draw on my GUI) thanx in advance

• ActionScript BitmapData Built-in To Bitmaps?

• Non laggy movement in Flex or WPF

  I'm trying to learn something about 2D games programming. For this purpose I've downloaded many samples developed in: Flex and Microsoft WPF. I've noticed that all the animations / moving objects are kind of non-smooth. I've seen a Flex example with double buffering which solved the image flickering, but it was laggy too. WPF example too. Just to mentioned, all examples were drawing on Canvas. I'm just curious, is it possible to have a wonderful non-laggy movement on the GUI in Flash or WPF ? (e.g. like a real game, coded in C++)

• Table-cell property ignores width

  I have set a CSS propery table-cell for a div. I have also specified the width for the div and set overflow hidden. But because of the table-cell property the div does not care about the width. If I place any large image, it goes out of the width. • directx audio video error message in debugmode

  I have a c#/winforms application that uses directx to play some video and audio. whenever i start my application in debugmode i get this annoying message. i can click "continue" and everything seems to work fine. but i still want to get rid of this message. it does not show up in releasemode. • Database strucure for versioning and multiple languages

  Hi, I'm wondering how to best solve the issue of content existing in multiple versions and multiple languages. An image of my current structure can be seen here: http://i46.tinypic.com/72fx3k.png Each content can only have one active version in each language, and that's how I'm curious on how to best solve. Right now I have a column of the contentversions table, which means for each change of active version I have to run a update and set active=false on all version and then a update to set active=true for the piece of content in question. Any thoughts? :)

• Changing the HTML of CKEditor form elements (in the dialog window)

  I'm trying to modify the HTML of the dialog boxes in CKEditor. The HTML inside each of those boxes is an absolute nightmare, and even worse, the source code is compressed and it's unclear what the path of execution is. • Animated gifs in QMovie

  I'm displaying an animated gif in my application by creating a QLabel, and setting the movie as a QMovie. The problem I'm having is that when the gif is displayed, any part of the image that stays a constant color throughout the animation shows up as the background color. I hope I'm explaining that clearly. • Differences setting content in Forms.WebBrowser control via DocumentText vs. Url

  If I generate some HTML and have it in a string and then say: myWebBrowser.DocumentText = string; It seems to work just fine, except none of the images load (I get the broken image graphic). If, however, I write the string to a file and then say: myWebBrowser.Url = new Uri("file://myfile.html"); Everything works just fine. My question is, what's going on under the covers here that is different? I've verified in both cases that the path to the images (via RClick-View Source) is the same and that all the images do, indeed, exist. In both cases the HTML is exactly the same. Any light that could be shed on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

• Element point map for html5 canvas element, need algorithm

  I'm currently working on a pure html 5 canvas implementation of the "flying tag cloud sphere", which many of you have undoubtedly seen as a flash object in some pages. The tags are drawn fine, and the performance is satisfactory, but there's one thing in the canvas element that's kind of breaking this idea: you can't identify the objects that you've drawn on a canvas, as it's just a simple flat "image".. What I have to do in this case is catch the click event, and try to "guess" which element was clicked. So I have to have some kind of matrix, which stores a link to a tag object for each pixel on the canvas, AND I have to update this matrix on every redraw. Now this sounds incredibly inefficient, and before I even start trying to implement this, I want to ask the community - is there some "well known" algorithm that would help me in this case? Or maybe I'm just missing something, and the answer is right behind the corner? :)

• NSURL not instantiating properly

  Hi, I am new to IPhone developing. I have got very strange issue with NSURL which is driving me crazy. I want to instantiate NSURL object to use it in loading image. But instantiation never happens in proper way. It always says my url in invalid. Basically I use code like below: NSString *str = @"http://google.com"; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:str]; but I also have tried a lot of different modifications (with CFStringRef + CFURLCreateStringByAddingPercentEscapes and so on). All of them are not working for me. In debugger url is set to "Invalid". What it could be? I don't think this is algorithmic or environment issue. It could be about some settings? Have anyone any idea of what happens?

  Hello, this jquery question: when I set a specific height to a "#div", i want to set the width of a inner object automatically too (cause i need a width to read it out) [ "#div" ["object"] ] example: (object).css(width: [ CALCULATION ], height: ($("#div").height())+'px' ) the original proportion of the image is: 1600x1080 here's the link to the attachment, take a look at it (tinypic): link text the heights "500px", "600px" and "700px" you can see in the attachment are just examples, the heigth could also be "711px", "623px", "998px" etc. cause the "#div" scales with the browser (i can read out the height of window, that works) my math skills aren't really good, would be great if someone could help me out :-)

• How can I export images from SQL Server to a file on disk?

  I have a User table that has all of their avatars saved in an image field. I'd like to just take that out of the database and store it as a regular file on disk. I looked around and saw some code for textcopy, but that doesn't seem to be on my machine for some reason. Here is the code I wrote up anyway. Anyone know a way to get this done? • Using type hints in Clojure for Java return values

  I'm working on some Java / Clojure interoperability and came across a reflection warning for the following code: (defn load-image [resource-name] (javax.imageio.ImageIO/read (.getResource (class javax.imageio.ImageIO) resource-name))) => Reflection warning, clojure/repl.clj:37 - reference to field read can't be resolved. I'm surprised at this because getResource always returns a URL and I would therefore expect the compiler to use the appropriate static method in javax.imageio.ImageIO/read. The code works fine BTW so it is clearly finding the right method at run time. So two questions: Why is this returning a reflection warning? What type hint do I need to fix this?

• CSS div positioning assistance

  I need some help with the positioning of divs that appear on each #box's hover event. The hidden divs should appear over the box that was hovered in a way that: Each #tooltip div covers the box that was hovered plus the box next to it The tooltips of boxes 1 & 2 should cover the boxes to the right #tooltips for box 3 & 4 should cover the boxes to their left (to make it more understandable, please see the attached image There will be several rows of boxes so positioning should be relative and not fixed to the page dimensions (i suppose) So far I haven't managed to get the #tooltip positionings right (I know that one should be absolute and the other relative but no matter my efforts, I haven't nailed it yet). • Should we create Virtual Machine environment so a consultant can develop in similiar environment?

  This is a large project and currently there are only 3 developers working on it. We have some money in the budget to contract development help from a software consulting firm. However, because the location of our business it would be beneficial if the consultant could do their development off-site. Also, our company policy doesn't allow contract help to VPN into our network, so that is not an option. My question is, would it be a good idea to create a Virtual Machine that copies our internal environment (particularly our database and WCF service) and give the consultant the Virtual Machine image so that they can replicate the environment at their place of work? I haven't worked much with Virtual Machines, so I'm not sure if this is a good idea or if there are huge obstacles that I'm not thinking of. If anyone has ever done anything like this, it would be great to hear the pros/cons. Any help would be appreciated.

  my applicationen consists of App.cs/App.xaml and some other files. Everything is compiled to an exe file. However, I want a 2. application, which should reference the first one. In this Application is a class derived from App. But when I call the the Run() function I get an very stragne error in a xaml code of the first application, saying that some image files could not be loaded. I had a similar architecture when i was using Windows Forms and it worked fine.

• Most efficient way to download media files from a server from within an iPhone app.

  Hi, I have an iPhone application which contains a lot of media files, so far we have been able to keep the size of the iPhone app to less than 20 MB. We add new content with new updates, it would be difficult to keep the app size within the 20 MB limit. The right thing to do here would be to fetch the files on demand from a media/web server. If you have any pointers on how to go about doing this, please suggest. What we would need is to fetch the media files (.jpg/.png images ) on demand when the user taps on a small thumbnail for the image. Are there existing frameworks/servers that provide such services to iPhone clients. Thanks.

• How to detect default printer properties from browser?

  Regardless of if this is a good idea or not, is it possible to detect printer attributes from the browser? The idea is that you want to print out a brochure that's selling something. Depending on different things such as if the printer is black&white/colour, high/low resolution, laser/inkjet, printing to a file, etc, you want to print out the page differently. For example you might choose different text colours or fonts, different image sizes, etc. My initial thoughts are: ActiveX, Flash, Java, Silverlight, browser plugins. Kudos if it's possible in javascript. I'm interested in all ways to do this, cross browser or not. Please no reasons about why this shouldn't be done ^_^

• Need an Asp.net MVC Application solution

  I have implemented a small ordering and stock control system (for internal using) with the MVC 2 framework. Now my friends, they want to have a website to present the existing products for their customers. I know, I know they will ask me to do this one day. So in the beginning, I have made the controller name to start with "Admin". But now I am not sure the best way to implement their requirements. Could you advise me? 1.For the security reason, I did not allowed anonymous user to access the website a part from the CSS and image files. My question is the controllers' name are not folders' name, how could I set this up? 2.I'm planning to put the admin section into an "area" and will it be a good way to go? • Why are some VB6 DLLs loaded as mapped files?

  Hi - A colleague of mine, whilst trying to figure out the memory useage of our VB6 / C# 2.0 application noticed that a minority of VB6 DLLs have two entries in the SysInternals Process Explorer application. All DLLs have an entry for Mapping = Image, and a specified base address. However, a few also have an entry for Mapping = Data, with a base address of zero, and a much smaller memory useage. I seem to remember something about using mapped memory files to share memory between processes, but we are definitely not doing something as interesting as this. All communication between EXEs is done via COM, and as far as I know, nobody has written a shared memory component. This is not desperate, but I would be very interested in any suggestions as to why some DLLs are loaded as mapped file Thanks, Mark Bertenshaw

  I downloaded: Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2010 and Team Foundation Server® 2010 Beta 2 for Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Image When I go into the default installation of TFS project site in Sharepoint ( http://vs2010beta2/sites/DefaultCollection/IBuySpy/Dashboards/ProjectDashboard_wss.aspx ) I get this error on the webparts. There are no accessible team projects in this Team Project Collection. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. In the Team Server Admin Console - Team Project Collection - Team Projects tab the projects are there. This is the default installation. Any suggestions???
